Ideas for a (reasonably) open FT RP

The title says it all.
Simply, I seen lots of FT RPs around, but most of them were really long, and/or closed.
So, does anyone have an idea for an open one, or want to start one?
Turn up in random space, potter about for a bit...
Hope for the best.
Fairly simple really, then you come up with some kind of incident to look into, and you have a (very basic) plot.

OOC: Uh-huh, but I was thinking of a more... constructed start storyline, but then branches off into to a random (relatively) RP.
but that will do if nobody else has any ideas...
The Shivan wars are open, if you want to side with the bad guys a new thread will be starting shortly for phase two of the wars. If you can hold on for that........

Well as a matter of fact I'm looking for a few people to have a merchant ship/convoy attacked by my new pirates. It's nothing very major, they attack, your men fight back but eventually lose. Somehow or other you trace them to be from my space and yell at my government. If you (or anyone else) want more info telegram me.
