Annexation of Pakistan (Earth III)

Grays Hill
09-01-2005, 03:19
OOC: On Earth III I have Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Iran, and Afghanistan. And I was looking to expand, and Since Pakistan was unowned, I figured it would be a good place to go. I have decided to RP it instead of just claim it to make it more realistic. All I need now is for someone to RP as Pakistan.
--------------------------

IC: With Grays Hill now nicely situated in the Middle East (on Earth III), and with a strong military and government in position, the country is looking for expansion. Its target: Pakistan. This lush nation would look nice in the Empire of Grays Hill. And troops and equipment have been massed on the border for months now, waiting for the order to strike. Well, with the begging of a new year, the annexation of Pakistan shall commence.

It started with the top of the Chain of Command, with president Jeffery Thomas. He contacted his top generals in a secret meeting and asked how they suggest they do this invasion. The president started:

“Well boys, its time, now how do you think that we should skin this cat?” General Lee Thompson firmly looked at the Brig. and Maj. General, and explained,

“Well sir, we think it would be best if we did it using three different attack locations, simultaneously, that way to confuse the enemy. Major General Thomas Bradley will lead the 6th Marine Division through the North West region of Pakistan. Brigadier General John Mackwell will lead the 57th Airborne Division and make an airborne landing into the southern region of Pakistan. And I will take the Army’s 60th Armored Fighting Division and shoot straight into the middle of Pakistan. All of this however will not be possible without air strikes on radar facilities, enemy strongholds, and enemy grounded planes. I suggest that we launch massive air strikes throughout Pakistan starting at 2000 hours, right after nightfall. Then at 2200 hours, we begin with our land invasion. After 2 hours of intense bombing, they should be stunned and in shambles. I think that stealth would be best for the first strikes, that way our planes go virtually undetected, and we have the element of surprise.”

The president sounded stunned, “Wow, seems like its all in order then. I will appoint Air Force Lieutenant James Dietrich in control of all air wings to be used in the invasion. I will relay the details to him, so he can debrief his pilots on the situation. I think that this concludes our meeting, good luck and God’s speed boys.”

The generals closed their briefcases and rose to leave. The president stood and dismissed them. They saluted, and he returned the salute. As they were leaving he called General Thompson back. He stopped and executed an about face, and said “Yes, sir?”
“Just wanted to say, give ‘em hell General, give ‘em hell! You are dismissed” The President said.

At 1930 hours, jet engines roared, all heading for different locations. They were to neutralize forward radar facilities, enemy strongholds, and enemy grounded planes in the cities closest to the border. The target cities were Nok Kundi, Quetta, Zhob, Peshawar, Gilgit, Gwadar, and Ormara. 14 F-25 Stealth JSFs took off (2 for each city) to destroy the radar facilities. 7 B-2 Stealth Bombers roared towards the cities to take out known military compounds and airfields. And 7 F-117 Stealth Fighters took off, to blast grounded planes.

The F-35’s took off first, to level all radar facilities to make the Pakistani military blind in much of their western region of their nation. They were followed closely by the F-117’s to destroy any grounded planes, so they would lessen the chances of being engaged if detected by radar. And last but not least the B-2s followed to take out troop locations, damage runways, or hit any military target they could find.

No talk of the attack was ever made public until after the attack. This was so a leak wouldn’t form, giving the Pakistanis time to reinforce troop locations and prepare to rebuff attacks. The president was scheduled to make a public speech at 0900 the following morning to tell his people of the attack, to tell the Pakistani military to surrender, or be killed, and to tell the Pakistani people not to worry, that it would all be over soon, and they would be protected by the might of the military of Grays Hill.

The United Osea States belives that the expansion of the borders you are undertaking is some-what unjust, but also imperialistically good.

We will be willing to supply minor air support or navy support if requested in views of hopefully claimming good relations between the both of our nations.

ooc: Pakistani fight-back, eh?

IC: "But, Mr President, you can't leave now. Your people need you!"
The short aide scurried after the President's retreating back. Ahmed Rashid, President of Pakistan, was leaving the country after news that the border cities were under attack by forces from the neighbouring nation of Grays Hill. Being a smart man, President Rashid and his cabinet were taking the Government aeroplanes and taking a "holiday" in Russia.
"I'll leave whenever I want to. I'm the President."
He slammed a door in the man's face, then rubbed his hands together distastefully and walked outside the palace to where the modified airliner was waiting. There was no hope now. Much of the Western airforce had been caught on the ground, and they were without radar coverage over most of the border. The army was vastly outnumbered, and their aged Soviet vehicles would soon be swept away on a tide of sleek high-tech warmachines pouring over the border.
He boarded the plane and sat down. It was time to leave this defeated country behind. He would be safe in Russia.

********************************************************

General Khan sat with his head in his hands. Portions of the military had surrendered, mainly on the Western Border. Many were falling back. His army was a shambles. And now the President had fled the country. The situation was hopeless. But he would fight anyway. The reserves had been called up, although many had deserted. The armies were being mustered and were massing mainly in Kalat, ready to fight back against their Imperialist agressor.
With the absence of radar stations, air patrols were now being run around the clock.

*******************************************************

Ahmed Kadar clutched his AK-47 to his chest. He sat in the half-ruined building with the other five men of his group. They were a disorganised bunch, with nothing to identify them as a group. But they were. When the war broke out, the Pakistani Peoples' Militia had taken matters into their own hands. Small teams lay in wait for the inevitable ground attack. Roadside bombs had been placed, snipers lurked in buildings. Many of the ruined buildings were now occupied by armed fighters, ready to open fire on any of the soldiers invading their land. The ruined mosque served as their headquarters, although it could move at a moments notice. Teams were still going around the city, rigging buildings for demolition and setting up bundles of grenades to go off when an unsuspecting enemy tripped the switch. And they waited.....

The newly elected president, Osama al-Sahaf, walked to the podium to deliver a speech on this attack.

“As many of you know by now, we have attacked our neighboring nation, Pakistan.” The crowd cheered. “ The nation of Grays Hill is expanding its borders, as promised in my inauguration speech. Massive air strikes throughout the western portion of the nation have put much of their military in shambles. Attacks on their radar stations have made them blind in their western regions. Satellite pictures have shown us that their air force was completely grounded when the attack happened. Nearly the entire western half of Pakistan’s air force was decimated on the ground, and airfields were blasted into oblivion. Many buildings were also destroyed, that were known to house military personnel. Allah has blessed us in this attack. As I speak to you here right now, large amounts of troops and tanks are flooding over the border into Pakistan. I have ordered constant close air support, because our radar has picked up amounts of Pakistani air craft patrolling the skies.

“To the Pakistani people I say this, lay down your weapons and do not fight. You will be fighting a loosing battle. To the Pakistani government, I say this; this is your one and only chance to surrender unconditionally. Upon your surrender your nation will peacefully become part of the Empire of Grays Hill. Fight us, and you will be hunted down. Surrender and you will be treated like a king. You have 24 hours to surrender peacefully, or a massive invasion will begin.”

As the President had fled, General Khan decided it was up to him to reply.

"Allah does not bless you, infidel. You may take our country, but we will always fight you. It will always be our knives in your hearts, our bullets in your heads. The land will run red with your blood. You may take our country, but your warriors will weep in despair. Even when you win, we will fight, and your warriors will weep in despair for it will be like fighting smoke with your bare hands."

IC: Osama al-Sahaf thought to himself, “So he wants to fight huh? Well we will show them the might that will soon protect them.”

With the proposal of peace declined, al-Sahaf phoned General Thompson and told him that all forces were a go. Thompson replied with a swift, but stern, “Thank-you sir!” With that, al-Sahaf hung up the phone and sat back in his chair, it was all in the hands of his military now.

General Thompson immediately dialed up Major General Bradley and Brigadier General Mackwell. They were already in position to attack. Thompson stressed the fact that all targets are military only. No civilians are to be killed, unless attacked. After all, when all is said and done, they would become citizens of Grays Hill. There was only one problem, and that was the fighters the Pakistani’s had in the air defending their airspace. He quickly called in 43 F-15’s to get airborne and eliminate this problem. Five minutes later, all 43 F-15’s soared through the air. They soon reached the border, and very soon after that, the Pakistani Fighters came into view. The F-15’s immediately opened a holy hell upon them. Intense dog fighting ensued.

As the air war was going on, Major General Bradley told his men all signs were a go, and with that the 6th Marine Division surged across the border. The Pakistani fighters would be too busy to worry with them on the ground, because they had their hands full fighting the air craft from the Grays Hill Air Force. The 6th Marine Division split into too sections, one headed for Gilgit, and the other for Peshawar. Their mission was to make it to these cities and take control over them.

Brigadier General Mackwell also informed his troops of the air war, and they were gung-ho. The 57th Airborne Division was suited up and prepped for war. They boarded their C-141s. They were to make an aerial assault on Nok Kundi and Gwadar. Within 30 minutes of the F-15’s taking of 6 C-141s were going airborne, fully loaded with men. Once they were airborne, they also split into two groups, each with 3 C-141s.

With the other 2 generals now sending their troops into battle, it was General Thompson’s turn to do his part. He ordered the Army’s 60th Armored Fighting Division to blast their way through to the cities of Zhob and Quetta.

OOC: If all goes according to plan, Grays Hill would have the 6 largest cities, closest to the border. All 6 of these cities are pretty close to the border. Here is a link to the map I use http://www.pickatrail.com/jupiter/map/pakistan.gif It also has a legend on it. The farthest city from the border is Gilgit, which is only about 150 miles.

The Pakistani rolled over in mid-air, its responses sluggish compared to the sleek, deadly opponent they fought. But they were trying. Out of the corner of his eye, Omar saw his wingman's machine burst into flames and plunge towards the ground. There was a roar as the flames reached the fuel, and a spectacular fireball. Omar brought the nose of his fighter around, unleashing all of the missiles he had left and opening up with his guns.
Next to him in the air was Ali, who screamed as his plane was sheared in two by an explosion. Still strapped into his seat, with his parachute burning and no hope of escape, he screamed as the seat and nose of the plane fell out of the sky. The shrapnel that was the only remains of the rear half spattered off the survivors.
It was hopeless. Omar's team were perishing one by one. With the SAM and ground-based radar gone, they were fighting unsupported, outnumbered and outgunned. Their only consolation was that they would go directly to Paradise.

On the ground, forces were falling back from the border. Small teams were left there to harass the invaders, and the landscape was littered with mines and makeshift bombs. Meanwhile, artillery and rocket batteries were being prepped to level the border cities as soon as the enemies took them over. The inhabitants had eitehr died or fled.

The air war over western Pakistan was a striking success. A total of twelve F-15’s were shot down. These were the first deaths of uniformed military men from Grays Hill since the war had started. But these twelve men have moved on to a greater place, and Allah has embraced them for fighting and dieing for their cause.

The 6th Marine Division was now rapidly advancing toward Gilgit and Peshawar. On the way advancing, roadside bombs and destroyed a total of eight tanks, killed 23 and injure 20 others. They were now near the outskirts of both cities. The command to take them was waited on, because it was risky with enemy artillery and rocket batteries in range.

The threat of artillery and such was a rather large threat. There was only one solution…a large air strike was ordered. But this would mean crossing into enemy air space with radar. Immediately, stealth F-35’s were ordered to engage radar on in the eastern part of Pakistan, a total of 63 were ordered to take out radar facilities in eastern. Satellite pictures confirmed the positions. Then the F-35s took off. Their objective was to make Pakistan completely blind. 15 F-117 Stealth fighters were also being launched to take out military targets like artillery that could attack any Grays Hill forces. 5 B-2 bombers were also called in to aid the F-117’s in taking down any artillery that could be wiped out.

Back in the 57th Airborne, they jump was successful. Paratroopers have now surrounded the cities of Nok Kundi and Gwadar. Further incursion of the cities was halted until after the air strikes.

General Thompson had nearly reached Zhob and Quetta with the 60th Armored Fighting Division. He too was waiting until after the air strikes. He had lost a total of 13 tanks and 26 men due to roadside bombs and insurgents. Once the news of the attack was relayed to them, then all 3 units would push into all their designated cities. A lot rode on this air strike, and hopefully the Stealth of all planes used would be a huge advantage.

The three men sat by the side of the road, concealed in the bushes. Between them, they had a rocket launcher, two RPGs, and a belt of grenades. The invading tanks and men would pay for their crimes. These men would die, but they could probably take more with them. This was the situation all along the border. Men were preparing to sell their lives dearly.

The air strikes had destroyed a lot of Pakistani artillery. The air defences around them had eventually been overwhelmed and the batteries had been flattened by bombs and missiles.

Meanwhile, in Nok Kundi, the news had come that the city was surrounded by paratroopers. Men dug into positions, snipers took up commanding views of the city, and towed guns were deployed at strategic points. Buildings and cars were rigged to detonate. Preliminary barrages were fired from the small amount of artillery left in the city.

14-01-2005, 22:54
Grays Hill officially warned all Pakistani citizens to leave the sounded cities or be presumed an insurgent. Those left in the cities were open game should they come near any military member of the Grays Hill army, have a weapon showing, or show any size of aggression. It was only a matter of time now. They were given 24 hours to get out of the cities. Once they left, they were welcome to come across the border into Grays Hill as refugees after being properly checked over and cleared. This was to save as many lives in the cities as possible.

On the 25th hour, all hell broke loose. Massive aerial bombing commenced. Buildings believed to hose bombs were destroyed. Apache helicopters were called it to blow up and destroy any car that could be used to deliver a bomb. Grays Hill didn’t want to go to these measures, but due to rebels and rocket attacks, it was now necessary. Ample time was given to let innocent civilians leave. 3 Apaches were shot down with RPGs

The outbreak of rocket attacks destroyed several tanks around the country. But with artillery no longer a threat, many buildings destroyed, fewer people in the cities and many cars blown up, the go ahead was given to strike. All at once troops and tanks poured into the streets of cities and rode over rubble and junk in the streets. There were some large pockets of resistance in each of the cities and tanks and lives were lost. If they could take the cities surrounded, then the smaller cities between them and the border would be pretty much no factor.

In the city of Nok Kundi, extra apaches were ordered to take out any towed guns would be blown up, and anybody that seemed to be in a compromising position, such as peering off the rooftops of buildings that were left, would be blown to bits and pieces. Explosions could be heard through out the cities. It was a total war zone. With the cities now infiltrated, and fighting off Pakistani fighters, the focus now turned to the eastern portion of the country.

Hopefully the might of the army of Grays Hill shown in the west would show the east what they would face in the days to come. Pretty much surrender, or be captured and/or killed.

The last civilians had fled the Western cities in any way they could, a stream of cars, bicycles, and walkers fleeing from the torn cities. The resistance fighters had been bombarded, mainly from the air, and much of their heavy equipment had been lost.

Sharis levelled the RPG at the helicopter. He was lucky not to have been spotted in the ruined building. He shut one eye, aimed at the cockpit, and squeezed the trigger. The projectile shot forwards, hopefully impacting against the target. Before he could see what happened, he ducked back into the rubble to avoid detection if he missed.

Meanwhile, Omar and his men beat a fighting retreat. Omar ducked around a corner, tossing a grenade at the oncoming soldiers as he went. Next to him, one of his fighters fired a short burst from his AK-47. It was short because a second later he dropped to the floor with one side of his head blown away. Now in the adjoining street, Omar smiled. The enemy rushed around the corner......straight into a hail of bullets from two machine guns. The Pakistanis let out a cheer as they saw the enemy squad slaughtered.

The man stood on the roof, the cloth wrapped around his face leaving only his eyes visible. He stared down the sight of the sniper rifle, focusing on the head of his target. The scope swayed from side to side, hunting for the optimum angle, then steadied over the man's forehead. Suddenly there was a crash behind him. The invaders were shooting at him! An explosion blasted the top of the building to rubble, sending the unfortunate sniper flying. He screamed as he tumbled out of the sky, then there was a sickening thud as he hit the pavement.

Meanwhile, in the Eastern half of the country, General Khan planned his strategy. After severe artillery bombardment, an armoured strike force would power its way into the enemy column, killing as many as possible. Mechanised infantry would then mop up the survivors as they fled.
Grays Hill
15-01-2005, 16:25
With resistance in the cities now light, troops and tanks advanced street by street, loosing men here and there to fighters who were swiftly taken out. Much of all the cities were taken, and it was only a matter of time before all corners of the cities fell.

With resistance lighter in the cities, helicopters should be able to supply the close support needed. Massive bombing now seemed fit for the east. The east was almost untouched by the war, except for the bombing that took out radar and any close military facilities. The Pakistani’s were completely blind, so larger and more frequent bombings were in order.

Now every city west of the Indus River taken, except for Omara and Karachi, they were next on the list. Being that they were on the coast, they were to be taken in an amphibious operation, codenamed Operation Salamander. One Air craft Carrier, 2 cruisers, and 3 destroyers were to aid in the bombardment of the cities. A total of 2,520 troops and 75 tanks would land at Omara and 2,520 troops and 80 tanks would land at Karachi. Round the clock bombing from planes on the carrier was taking place, bombing any target. The amphibious assault was going to wait, as with these cities, a 24-hour deadline was put up. C-130s flew over dropping pamphlets saying they had 24 hours to get out of the city, and if they were not gone, they would likely die. After the 24-hour deadline any cars and big buildings were to be destroyed.

But the main focus of bombing was east of the Indus River. For 24 hours straight there were F-16s, F-35s, F/A-18s, F-117s, and B-2s blowing pretty much any tank, plane, or anything on or around military bases. In the capital of Islamabad, special emphasis was put on destroying any military or government buildings or installations. Their main target was to decapitate the head of the Pakistani government. Hopefully general Khan would die in the surprise bombings. The only targets that were forbid from touching were houses of civilians and work buildings.

After the 24 hour deadline, the amphibious assault commenced. A sea full of transports all headed for 2 major cities seemed to flood the waters of Pakistan. Constant bombing took place, even as the assault was taking place. This was to put the enemy in dismay, running from explosions pushing them towards tanks and troops where they would ultimately die. The troops overwhelmed the enemy in the cities. The sheer numbers of the troops and tanks seemed to be more than enough to frighten them. Soon after, pockets of resistance were isolated and street-to-street fighting took place, as in the other cities. Nearly the entire west of Pakistan was now in the hands of Grays Hill.

General Khan hung his head as he realised the situation he was in. He had been lucky not to die in the bombings: enough of his people had. But now, seeing the reports that were pouring in. Divisions falling back, cities lost, leaders killed.....there was no hope. The military was outnumbered and poorly equipped. He had been a fool to think that his men could fight all this modern equipment with Soviet castoffs. Those that had fought had been slain. All that he had left in most of the Western cities was a few handfuls of fighters. His armies in the East had been bombed to almost nothing. The once proud tank divisions had been reduced to burning hulks. He could have ordered missiles to be fired at the ships, but there was no point. It would only prolong the inevitable and the suffering of his people. After all, what was a general for but to protect the citizens of his nation? And he knew now the only way to carry out his job......

Greetings. I am General Khan, leader of the Pakistani Army in this war. I offer my surrender to your nation, on the condition that the people of this nation will not be mistreated in any way.
However, as I only command the Army, I cannot guarantee the surrender of all militant groups. I will have no part in any fighting that may take place, but there may be trouble nonetheless.
I ask you to consider this offer.

We wouldn’t want to do anything to get them to dislike me. I also assure immediate clean up and rebuilding of all cities, because they are now under my control. You and the rest of the Pakistani leadership will go un prosecuted and will go down in Grays Hill’s history books as Heroes and saviors of Pakistan. Also, you are invited to attend a celebration banquet on the front lawn of the Presidential Palace. I will be sending out a helicopter to pick you up, should you accept.
