OOC: This is going to be a "restart of Kahta. Read this if you are planning on RPing with me, or you WILL have difficulty understanding.

-- With the United States falling apart, the regions that once cooperated with eachother turned hostile. As regions broke off from eachother, Kahta was formed as, New England, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania within 20 miles of Lake Erie. Kahta quickly became a democracy.

-- After 6 years of stagnant economic growth, and lowered living conditions in urban areas, racial tensions hit a boiling point throughout many cities including Boston, New York, Hartford, and Buffalo.

-- In what is know known as "Bloody '91" over 5,000 whites and 2,000 blacks were killed in violence, eventually the whites moved out of the ghetto, and blacks calmed down, but sporadic violance reigned. By July as violence picked up, democracy collapsed as the 4th attemped coup suceeded, killing President Michael Dukakis. The government which took power was a military dictatorship.

-- General Thomas Jackson abolishes Kahtan Senate and Legislature, becomes the sole ruler of Kahta. Protests are quelled with 20mm cannons and grenades.

-- An increasingly oppressive government starts arresting those suspected of speaking out against the government. Connecticut is allowed to leave Kahta with Block Island and Fishers Island.

-- General Thomas Jackson is killed, and the country once again falls into chaos. It is suspected that Evan MacDonald, head of the MacDonald family, ordered the killing.

-- Organized crime syndicates begin merging, as they gain property and size, and restore control. The MacDonald family has most of Kahta under their control east of the Hudson River. West of the Hudson river, the Salvatore family is in control. After protracted negociations, the MacDonald family buys off the rest of Kahta.

-- Evan MacDonald returns the country to democracy and brings back the Senate and Legislature.

-- The economy grows by 75% in the first half of the year, and 30% in the second half.

-- Mitt Romney is elected President of Kahta. He wins a contested vote, but Democrats keep control of the Senate and Legislature.

-2003-- Economy falters as Romney forces laws through that allow outsourcing and privitization of government services.

Late 2003-- Sam MacDonald, the 16 year old son of Evan MacDonald is elected President.

-- Legislature and Senate vote selves out of existence in favor of a benevolent "Father knows best state". The economy quickly grows by 30%....
