Fluffywuffy a Haven for Terror

(OOC: Calling all terrorists! You may open a camp in the Jar Desert, so long as you aren't a godmodding fool. And you t-gram me first or post here.)

The wide-open spaces of the Jar Desert in central Fluffywuffy were harsh, even by the standard of deserts. The temperature constantly hovered around one hundred and twenty degrees Fahrenheit in the daytime, and at night, it fell to twenty below zero. It almost never rained, getting only half an inch a year.

However, Roger Miller did not care. The short, dark-haired man had become used to the weather. He almost did not notice the blazing heat of the day and the freezing cold of the night. His skin had long ago been sun burnt into an eternal dark brown; even when he left the desert for a few months, he would not lose the tan. He even dressed like the few remaining natives: an airy white robe over his whole body.

Now, Roger was riding across the desert in a jeep, heading toward what appeared to be a small village on the horizon. He had thirty minutes to get there before the next spy satellite crossed over the desert. Plenty of time, he thought. He was blazing through the desert sand at over a hundred miles per hour.

Roughly ten minutes later, Miller pulled up to the “village.” A handful of armed men waved him on, instantly recognizing him. In a few minutes, Miller had pulled into a garage and stepped out of his dust-covered jeep. A man approached him, and they saluted one another.

The man was tall, much taller than Miller was, and he did not have the eternal sunburn common to residents in this camp. He, too, wore a baggy robe; his was a light brown color. It matched his light brown hair. On his robe was a badge with a map of Fluffywuffy, and the letters PLB: People's Liberation Brigade.

Miller was a captain in the PLB. Actually, he worked for Imperial Intelligence, but the PLB didn't know that. He was the counterintelligence officer, a post that made the spy laugh at the PLB and its amatuerity.

It was a scene that echoed throughout the Jar Desert. Plenty of new camps, many of them suspected terrorist training centers, had sprouted up in recent months. The situation was becomming so bad in the region that the Emperor himself had commented on it, and military units were cracking down on terrorism.

So everyone thought. Most of the groups were infiltrated by Imperial Intelligence, and were brought under the Emperor's rule. They were used as a means to attack foreign nations with impunity, thought they had never been used before. Those that were actually terrorists were simply attacked and destroyed.

A surging number of foreign fighters, however, had entered the country. Provided secret shelter, the groups were not allowed to attack the country, but could operate out of it. (OOC: This explains what rules terrorist groups that wish to use Fluffywuffy must follow.)

One of the foreign fighters walked around the camp. He had just finished a long hike with a few of his comrades, who he had met at the airport. With a Kalishnikov slung over his back, the man prepared for intense physical training to make him the perfect freedom fighter, striking fear in the hearts of his enemies.

He needed none of it. He was already one of the finest fighters around. He could brandish any weapon known to man, but in an instant fight it out with no weapon. His mission was not to train to liberate a country. It was to observe, and make sure none of these would-be terrorists posed any threat to the Federal Republic of Bonstock.

After he settled into the village, and got into a private bunk, he took out a small folder. In it contained a top secret document, with orders. The Bonstocknian Special Services, or BSS, had issued the assignment. Its goals were to infultrate the terrorist network and report on any terrorist plot against Bonstock or its allies. If Bonstock would be attacked, it would be him who would know first. The title was Operation Falling Dawn. If it failed, Bonstock may be at the mercy of foreign terrorists.

He was in good position to do this. He said to everyone that he was a Bonstocknian, one of the old rebels from the Bonstocknian Civil Wars who wanted to liberate his country. If anyone wanted to attack Bonstock, he had the list of targets, of vulnerabilities, of ideas for anything. And he had a small Palm pilot, with a GPS tracker and sattelite internet access, in case a strike needed to be mounted. Meanwhile, hundreds of miles away, a Carrier Battlegroup stood ready, along with an amphibious strike group for a handy extraction just in case. If an attack would be mounted, the place would be raided by Bonstocknian Special Forces, whether Fluffywuffy's government liked it or not; but, of course, the Fluffywuffy government had been notified with a top secret memo that possible hostile terrorists may be in the desert, and may need to be dealt with.

His name was Colonel Li, though to the BSS, he was simply "Agent 365." He took his folder, and burned it, knowing that its contents were in a secure file in his palm top computer. But before he did, he took out a small picture. A young woman. His girlfriend. He remembered back a few years, looked at the picture again, and put it in his pocket. His mission came before all else. He took his palm pilot, and sent a heavily encrypted message to BSS headquarters. Agent 365 in position.

A response was quick, short, and to the point. Commence operations.

Mike Cleven's job was a hard one. As chief of Imperial Intelligence's counterterrorist unit, he had to make sure that the real terrorists in the Jar Desert were destroyed, and that those who were within the government's control only operated against the enemies of Fluffywuffy. He also had to maintain control of the terrorist groups, lest they grow strong enough to break free.

Earlier in the day, he had recieved a memo passed down from the Director of Imperial Intelligence (DII) from Bonstock. Apparantly, their spy satellites had picked up the terrorist groups in the Jar Desert. He typed up the response from Fluffywuffy and had it passed along until it reached Bonstock.

TO: Bonstockian Intelligence Director

FROM: Counterterrorist Director, Imperial Intelligence, Fluffywuffy

SUBJECT: Jar Desert Terrorists

We understand the concerns of the Bonstockian government, and we are also aware of a growing problem in the Jar Desert. We have diverted some militaary resources to the region, and are targeting terrorists as I write this.
You must also be aware that some of the terrorist camps may not be terrorist camps.

The people of Jar--the province that encompasses most of the Jar desert--live in small, tribal villages that could easily be mistaken for terrorist training camps. They routinely arm themselves, and they provide for their own defense. They are autonomous, and their villages are allowed to rule themselves. We do not even have census data on them. To a foreigner, it may appear that these are terrorists, but we asure you that most of these camps are probably just the local people.

I will keep you posted on the situation, and I am sure it will be resolved shortly.

Sincerely,

Mike Cleven

Now that he had the bullshit out of the way, Mike was free to spend the rest of the day coordinating the terrorist camps. He made it clear that none of his terrorist leaders were to initiate hostilities against Bonstock. He couldn't see why Bonstock was concerned; if they suspected the terrorists were really in Fluffywuffy's control, he didn't see why they thought they were a target. He couldn't even remember Bonstock's last communication with Fluffywuffy, or vice versa.

Meanwhile, Roger Miller was busy masquerading as a Socialist rebel and sizing up some of the camp's new arrivals. One of them was the Bonstockian. As he had done to the hundreds of other warriors, he approached each man and conversed with him about anything. He usually asked them their name, their beliefs, and other such things.

He approached the Bonstockianm shook his hand. Knowing that if he was in an enemy terrorist group--one of those not under the Emperor's rule--he wouldn't be able to try anything, he allowed the man to know what his job was.
"Hello, Comrade. You must be new here, I haven't seen you. I am captain Roger Miller, the counterintelligence officer. And you are. . .?"

OOC: I tried something similar to this a long time ago. Hope you have better luck with it than me.

Colonel Li was prepared for such an eventuality, but still a bit worried about making the right impression. "I am Corporal Jiang of the People's Liberation Army of the Union of Bonstocknian Socialist States. We were driven out of our country by those dirty capitalists under President Hu Li and Field Marshal Adolphus, nearly twenty years ago. Now I am one of the few still loyal to the cause of socialist liberation for Bonstock. I know Bonstock inside and out; if anyone wants to attack them, they ought best run by me first. I have men, I have bases, and I have the will to take on the capitalist regime. Any enemy of the Bonstocknian government is a friend of mine."

He knew he was saying false things. He spoke clearly, and must have spoke right. He then asked, "Is any one here planning on attacking Bonstock? I would be of great aid to them."

Roger Miller thought that the Bonstockian's interest in attacking the capitalist government of Bonstock was a little odd. If he had known his stuff, he would know that the planning and operations of such an attack would be handled by a small--three or so, at the most--group of the most senior terrorist leaders. Roger did admire the private's zeal, even ithough he was himself not a member of the PLB, but a spy for the Imperial Intelligence.

"I admire your revolutionary zeal, Comrade," he said, ignoring the man's interest in attacking Bonstock, "and we hope for socialism over the whole world, just as you and your men loyal to the Cause must. But the People's Liberation Brigade operates in Fluffywuffy only, and wishes to make her a worker's paradise and defeat her enemies who masquerade as socialists. One step at a time, Comrade. Maybe in the fullness of time, if we can defeat the oppressors at home first."

Roger looked over the Bonstockian for a moment, and then smiled. He would be the perfect tool for Imperial Intelligence, even if he disagrees with me. "Colonel, we may need you for something. You must tell no one. There is a rival group nearby calling itself the Freedom Army, and they work for the capitalist conspiracy. We may use you in an op against them. If you have your own people, we could use their help. Come with me, let us discuss this in private."

He led Colonel Li to his commander, also an Imperial Intelligence agent, and proposed that Colonol Li join a strike against the Freedom Army. He didn't go into any details, repeating the usual socialist dogma.
