Quernoy Island, Taiwan Strait:

Wang Ran, a Taiwanese radar operator on the fortified island of Quernoy popped another milkdud into his mouth and went back to his Nintendo DS. All quiet on the Western Front. He laughed. The Taiwanese government was paying him to play around all day and look up child porn online. The best job on Earth (DA)....

What Wang wasn't paying any mind to of course, were the small blips on the his radar display. Birds, he thought, or maybe commercial aircraft. He popped another milk dud in his mouth, but before he could get back to Metroid DS, his head was torn off by a DU railgun slug moving at 12,000 miles per hour.

Ok. So it wasn't all TOO quite on the Western Front.

"FUCK! WE'RE BEING INVADED!" The 55,500 soldiers quartered on the island began to respond, some scrambling to their airplanes, some running for the shore defenses and others just standing there in shock as they wet their pants.

Meanwhile, a grouping of 40 G80 Heavy RVTOL Gunships and 10 G100 RVTOL Ultraheavy Gunships hovered a few miles from Quernoy, firing off their heavy railguns at will, destroying airplanes, buildings, underground bunkers, runways, SAM sites, shore defenses etc. On the ground, everything was going to hell, things were burning and exploding all over the place. A few SAMs hit the gunships, destroying 3, and damaging a few others. Meanwhile, a flight of 20 SB-4 Ultraheavy bombers flew over the island, each bomber dropping 100,000 pounds of assorted ordnance, everything from JDAMs, to fuel air explosives to bunker busters, to EMP bombs, to just plain bombs.

That would soften up the Taiwanese enough, now to grab the island. Several TT-110 General Transport ships sailed up to the island....

The TT-110s sailed to within a kilometer of the island, then released its load of landing craft, DT-114 Main Battle Drone Tanks, MT-114 Medium Drone Tanks and Skorpion Raider APCs/Grav Bikes. The tanks swam, carrying the APCs and Grav Bikes on their backs. The landing craft got to the beach first though. The remaining defenders fired from craters, and behind the rubble of ruined buildings. The landing troops, the 5th Pwnage Marines as well a section of Barracuda naval warfare specialists and Pathfinders (Spec Ops), began taking heavy fire from machinegunners and rocketerers. Well, at least until the vehicles arrived. The defenders, however, fought tenaciously and gave ground only when there was no one left to defend it.

At last, all the defenders of Quernoy were either captured or killed. A resounding victory for the People's Republic. Now, all that stood between the People's Republic and Taiwanese mainland was a small, pathetically underfunded navy which would be swept away easily.

Later, the bombings began. Squadrons of Pwnage strategic bombers and heavy gunships guarded by swarms of ASF-05 Eagle's Talon Drone Fighters struck locations all over Taiwan, destroying public works, vital roads, power plants etc. Bombers started a firestorm in Taipei, incinerating over 300,000 people, many as they slept. The Taiwanese air force was routed by the sheer crushing numbers of ASF-05's deployed. Basically, the Taiwanese were screwed.

Pwnage troops landed in large numbers a few days of round the clock bombing later. The Taiwanese domestic defense forces, their tanks, artillery and heavy equipment either destroyed or without any fuel were slaughtered in heaps despite fighting valiantly. Taiwanese guerillas were cut off and surrounded, and heaps and heaps of innocent civilians were arbitrarily shot dead to deprive the guerillas of local support. Girls and women (and the occasionaly boy) were raped, and any surviving civilians were enslaved. Now, just to enter Taipei, where over 100,000 remaining soldiers were gathered.

The Pwnage Air Force and Navy began bombarding (what was left of) Taipei relentlessly. Meanwhile, the 4 divisions of Skorpion Raiders moved into Taipei. Fierce urban combat broke out, but the hungry, underequipped Taiwanese soldiers were no match for the Skorpions. Taipei was captured within a week, meanwhile, President Chen Shui Bian was captured inside his bunker. The conquest of Taiwan was complete.
