North of the Scandinavia continiet, in the numours Islands that inhabited the region, a rather large island stood as a fortress. The people inside had been trading with many people, although they had kept their existance secret. THey where the Last of the Pagan Norsemen, that they knew of, and the islands they has built their numbers of had become quite usful. They where quite develouped, they where extreamly advanced, considering their isolation. They had made differnet types of space ships, quite easily, but they just had made the first multi use ship. Named Grungir, after odins spear, it would found the way into a new space age.
The King smashed the bottle of reindear milk on the hull, and the ship made its graceful assent. It resembled a longboat, but its size was larger, and it had no sail, plus the top was closed. The ship cleared the atmospheare, then began the sublight drives. It moved, faster then the eye could see, then arrived at mars in five minutes. The People on the surface cheered, they had done it. The Norsemen had returned.

OOC: I'm not actually hostile, but you would be surprised how much that matches to what would happen in real life if aliens actually visited the planet on a regular basis.
Edit: No worries. They don't intend to shoot you down. How good of a mood would you be in if you're trying to sleep, only to be awakened by collision alarms and get to enjoy a lightspeed dodge while still trying to wake up?
IC:
Onboard the OMGWTF, a ship named in jest by the AI on board after certain terms used on the internet of Earth, much to the groans of the biological crewmembers, the crew was busy going about their regular schedules. Today, they were here to investigate rumors of people responding to some psionic call, as that psionic call had yet to reach DLE space and they wanted to know who was sending it.
The ship, a DLEX70, moved gracefully in orbit, the AI onboard enjoying the time it spent controlling the ship. It was technically in control over the weapons, but today the crew was too busy sleeping to bother it. Then, it detected a ship comming from the surface, collision alarms instantly blaring to life as the ship, taking emergency procedures, was forced to dodge the incomming ship at light speed, appearing to almost disappear and reappear about a kilometer behind where it was. The crew, now awake and rushing to their stations, were not happy.
"Jarvis, what happened?" Captain Torla asked, grabbing the captain's chair.
"Earth ship, appears to be FTL capable. Mejnots didn't bother to look before they launched. Luckily, I was able to use our warp engines for a FTL dodge. Your orders?" Jarvis, the AI, said through speakers.
"Let me handle this. Power up the weapons and max out the shields. If they can't be bothered to look where they are going or appologize afterwards, we'll shoot them down. I get tired of these idiotic humans nearly running into our ships," Torla said, pushing a few buttons on her chair to activate the communications system.

Welcome to the space community. Now, while we enjoyed being awakened by our collision alarms and the lovely stomach-turning lurge that comes with dodging at light speeds, we would like it if at least one of the nations on that damned planet of yours would at least look up at the entirety of the sky instead of saying "Well, looks clear now" and launching ten minutes later.
Now that we've been introduced and I've enjoyed my rant, which nation do you represent? It would be nice to know who I'm yelling at. I'm of the DemonLordEnigma Empire, from about 2000 lightyears from here.

OOC: No worries mate
IC:
The Seraliera, a standard Bladerunner class battleship was on routine patrol of the Sol System, protecting earth from the new pirate threat. That was, it was on patrol, when a new message from the Gaia System, was recieved.
Message:
UWSW Seraliera, Air Force Command has recieved news of a bizzare new craft in orbit around Mars, and we are ordering you, as the closest vessel qualified for diplomacy, to investigate. We request H-H contact first, before moving to B-H contact, before R-H Contact, and finally 3-H contact perametres. Contacts seem to be relatively primative in terms of technology, they have just recently achieved FTL travel.
After reading the message, the Burmecian Captain, Captain Deftspear, ordered a course change, they would reach Mars orbit in 15 minuites.
15 minuites later.....
The Seraliera reached the orbit of the heavily populated Mars, decloaking from the folds of the STC. They took in the unknown craft before them, mainly its bizzare design. Opening electronic communications on all forms, they sent out the same message.
Electronic Communication to Unknown Vessels:
This is the Siesatian Vessel Seraliera, we have been ordered to establish diplomatic negotiations with your people. We inquire to the atmospheric readout of your ship cabins, if diplomatic teams are to be sent. If you are more comfortable off your ship, the atmosheric readings of our ship are the following.
90% Oxygen
7% Nitrogen
3% Carbon Dioxide

Well, this is a surprise. Didn't know you were in the area. It's been awhile since we've seen some Siesatians with our missions. You should recognize the graviton core, as we used it when we first met you. Managed to find ways to get more out of it for the same amount of power.
We'd dock, but this ship is over 200 meters long. Part of our new military designs. You should see the ship we're going to build soon. I've heard that sucker can take out an Orion without noticing.

~Message to DLE Ships~
Indeed it is a surprise. We have our orders to protect earth from a new enemy we have discovered. We plan to announce this new threat to our ESUS allies at the next conference. Same Graviton core? We have recently switched over to Dark Matter/Anti-Matter Cores, a bit dangerous, but we pioneered this, and know more about it than any other country in the universe. An Orion ehh? Not too bad. Well, shuttle docks are open over here. I still don't know what our friends over there want to do, still waiting for a message in return.

OOC If you noticed I said it had no sail and a closed top
IC The captin of the ship worked the message unit.
To Be honest, We have no way to look into the skies. This is the first warship, while we are decendents of the Norse, we do not love fighting. We are sorry we almost hit you, but we have never been this far into space so fast. We would prefere docking with us, just come up along side, we will allow you to connect with out ships.
He smiled, the origional idea for the "Grappaling Hooks" Had been to allow Wolfskins to get onto an enemy ship. They now had the use of allowing envoys to get from one ship to another. Instead of waiting he got the white wolf pelt, the axe, and the Helmate that had horns on it, just to keep the mystery about the Norse real. When he was ready he waited in the Negotiation deck.

~Electronic Reply to Earth Ship~
No way of looking into the skies? Then let me apologize for my comments. Normally, the nations we deal with have been launching ships and items into space for years and are perfectly capable of looking into space. We will be docking with the Siesatian ship, due to our method of docking and the fact their ship allows us to land and exit. That way, all three of us are in the same area and can meet face to face.
Norse-descendants? If our information is correct, you should be about the same height as us. Always wanted to meet someone of Norse descent. It'll feel good to not be looking down to who I am talking to.
Oh, no matter what the Siesatians look like, they are not hostile. Let your men know that, no matter what they look like, they are not out to cause harm.

We'll be landing and disembarking. The crew could use a vacation. We will need someone willing to talk to the AI. He tends to get cranky when we leave him alone.

"I do not get cranky!" Jarvis declared.
"Yes, you do. Now, excuse me while I try to maneuver us in," Torla said, taking the controls before her.
The DLEX70 powered down its shields and weapons as it approached the docking bay, the ship's wings barely cleearing the side walls as it entered. The plasma cannon's barrel retracted a bit, allowing landing gear to extend and the ship to come to a peaceful rest. A door on the starboard side opened, with a ladder extending to the ground, and the crew of eight began to slowly exit the ship, enjoying their chance at rest already.

DLE, Im curious, I ask this a bunch, but never get an answer, how tall are your people?
My raptors being 9 feet tall
Burmans being 7-8 feet tall
And Humans being 6-7 feet tall
DemonLordEnigma

Most humans actually range from 5 feet to 7 feet on average. Sarkarasetans average 2.032 meters (about 6'8") and have a range of 6 feet to 8 feet in height on average, though a few Sarkarasetans sometimes get as tall as 9 feet in height (they're extremely rare). This is part of how humans continue to gain height and is a evolutionary result of that.

Electronic Communication to DLE ship:
Our ships computer, Cordana (Yes, I named it after the AI from Halo) is availiable. While we still don't know what ship she came from, since she refuses to tell us, she agreed to help keep the ship in check, and lives in the main computer core. Quite useful when you want information actually.

OOC NEver played Halo. Anygood?
IC The Norse ship manuvored itself up next to the Siestian ship and released the long pathways towards it. They where designed quite cleverly, and would make the metal they attached to quite insubstansial. Allowing the Norsemen to pass through the hull. They where not very practical in boarding, as the ship needed to get far to close, but if the new Raven Drives worked, they would become usful for capturing enemy ships. THe Norsemen ships where not built for huge star battles, they where made for atmosphearic combat and landing units on other worlds. The Captin waited for the Pathways to attach and then become safe to travle, smiling. They where going to make first contact.
