Wolfish Idea Shop: New Ship [Prod Rights auction]

Wolfish
04-01-2005, 23:25
ooc: for those that haven’t seen the Wolfish Idea Shop before, this is an opportunity to bid on production rights ONLY. I don’t sell this vessel, I sell the concept, designs etc.

I will only sell to modern tech nations (or those providing a storefront to mod-tech nations).

I will only sell to 500 million-plus population nations.

I reserve the right to deny any bid due to poor relations with that nation (ie any RWC nation, or nation with ties to the RWC).

You will purchase the sole production rights, with the exception of Wolfish, which maintains the right to produce this item for domestic use only.

This is an auction. Bid responsibly and reasonably. I am the final judge of what is, or isn’t allowed as a bid. The sale will end in 24 hours, or, if the reserve is not met, I shall notify the forum that I’m removing the item from auction.

The retired Naval Commander watched as the crowd slowly filled the room – arms dealers, government representatives and a hundred “unknown” buyers came in and found their seats. This was the third “Idea Shop” venture, and it was turning into quite a circus – with some nations bidding just to keep Wolfish technologies out of the hands of their enemies.

He walked out from the stage’s edge – his combat boots striking hard onto the wood planking.

“Good morning and thank you for coming today. I won’t waste your time…lets get to the reason we’re all here.

Wolfish Defense Industries have developed the next generation Arsenal Ship.”

He pushed the key on the remote control and a large screen began showing three dimensional images of a traditional arsenal ship (first-generation).

“As you know – first generation arsenal ships were designed to conduct operations primarily against land-based targets.

And we’ve certainly seen some successes within that tactical situation.”

He pushed another button and the image shifted to live-action video of an arsenal ship firing salvo after salvo of cruise missiles into the sky.

“The problem though, is this…”

Another shift in the image – scrolling pictures of massive battleships, frigates, cruisers and submarines from various nations.

“The problem is getting past vast fleets of hostile ships before you can get into range of land-targets.

So Wolfish Defense Industries has developed the next-generation of Arsenal Ships.”

Another button push and a sleek image of a new (and intimidating) warship came on the screen.

The Commander waited for the buzz to subside as the bidders took in the new ship.

“What you are seeing is a whole new design – building on the best of Wolfish Defenses past success – and failures – to bring you the ultimate fleet support weapon.

As stated the designation of this weapon is naval combat, anti-ship, anti-sub operations…I’ll quickly run through the stats before taking questions.”

The screen changed again, listing features and specifications of the ship.

The Commander took a long drink from his water bottle, and wiped a bit of sweat from his forehead before proceeding.

“Any questions…” he asked.

A man in the back row called out, “What’s she called?”

“Ah,” said the Commander smiling. “This class of warship is called REAPER…now, I’m happy to take any more questions – otherwise we’ll start the bidding at $10 billion dollars.”

The silence had lasted too long.

"If there are no bids, this item will be removed from the auction."

OOC: I might make something like this myself but I dont really want to because uber missiles strikes generally ruin naval RPs... *sigh* I suppose it's 'progress'...

OOC: Meh, why not.

A man sat towards the front of the auction raised his hand, announcing his bid of 10 billion dollars for the production rights.

OOC: If I bid on production rights, would I be able to let Kyanges to produce it for me? If not, I will still bid, but at a lower price.

The man at the podium replied, "What you do with the production rights is your own business. Now - we have a bid of 10 billion for the rights to this fleet killer. Are there any other bids?"

"We would like to bid 25 billion for the rights to build this fine ship," a man said in the back.

The Commander smiled...it would please him to see this technology stay within the NWO..."25 billion. Do we have 30?"

A tan-skinned woman raises her arm and says kindly "30 billion."

OOC: Would this classify as a Patrol Boat (even if heavy) or a light assaulting craft?

The Commander accepted the bid - before clicking the remote control to review some of the features of this ship...

"Thank you for the bid - to answer your question, this ship is designated as a naval warfare heavy attack craft. While it is just slightly larger than a traditional destroyer, or about the same size as a small cruiser, it is designed to operate as part of a carrier battlegroup or taskforce.

It possesses strong defense systems, but, as it is designed to attack and enemy fleet, it would best be used within the carrier battlegroup.

OOC: Well, would the Sunburn Anti-Shipping Missle production rights also come?

4 turbo-charged gas turbines

This would be redundant.

A gas turbine essentially is a turbocharger around a combustion chamber.

The Sunburns are a RL Soviet missile and therefore open to anyone's production.

Hmm, don't remember reading about that in Russian Warfare 101, ohh well. Alright.

USA Code Name SS-N-22
Nato Code Name Sunburn
Russian Designation 3M80 Moskit

Described as the most destructive and least interceptable missile ever produced. The US has recently aquired a bunch from the Russians. They'll likely use the technology to create the next-generation Tomahawk.

"If this love hate relationship has run its course, I'll close the bidding as the time has expired."

The final bid and winner of production rights to this vessel is McLeod03."

With that a security team moved onto the auction floor surrounding the winning bidder, and escorted him to a secure room to finalize the details.

The woman gave an other glare at the man, got up silently, and walkd out unnoticed as she did comming in.

She took a small compact disk and set it on the podium next to the hologram projector when no body was looking.

[OOC:
Give me a TM next to time you have something like this or smaller. I was going to bid agian if you would have waited five hours, lol.]
