(Planets I) United Cultures searches for Green Sun outposts

Admiral Jahod'lee stood tall at the bridge of his ship. They were a small nation and couldn't afford a large navy, but it waws big enough at one small battleship and one carrier with almost seven score of Seraph fighters. Somehow they had wandered into an asteroid belt not too far from Oni Cordat. An old ally when the Covenant was an enemy of the Empire...But that situation has long since changed.
The Seraph scouts returned with nothing. Green Sun was not mining on this belt. They would have to search elsewhere...

Admiral Yakov frowned. They were stuck with Green Sun's tiny fleet of two cruisers and a carrier, and to top it off they were hunting one carrier in an asteroid field being mined by four nations. Motion sensors and ship trackers were useless due to all the asteroids floating and the defending ships and the mining ships moving around. This would be skill against skill alone.
He searched through his memories for that phrase. Where did it come from? Oh, yes. The Princess Bride.
I]Hello! My name is Inigo Montoya! You killed my father! Prepare to DIE![/I]
The most famous quote from that book. He had read it three time backwards, since he was dyslexic. But he had long since overcome that problem and has read it like everyone else.
"Sir! We've found the enemy cruiser!"
"Show it onscreen."
The cruiser appeared on the main screen. It wasn't big, but not tiny either. It was as big as the USS Spice and had just as many fighters. Reports say the have a Plasma shield over it, but they're not too worried about it, since it's just a rumor.
"Have the USS Homestar start a diversion. Make them think we're teleporting all over the place or something to that effect, so when it disappears, we appear. We we disappear, they appear."
"Roger."
"Also, those new, Laser Cannons...Are they installed?"
"Highly experimental, but installed and can fire. But firing them may overheat the ship."
"I don't care, charge them up. I want that ship's main weapons offline, or at least most of them. Then we'll engage in a Fighter Fight with the USS Spice's cargo. Once their fleet of fighters has been depleted, we'll show them both our cruisers and we'll have our lasers ready. If they don't surrender, we'll fire and wipe their only carrier out."
"Clever plan, sir."
Admiral Yakov watched as Captian Curl took his ship and appeared. It was a clever yet simple plan, but it so old they could very well already know it, or so clever and simple they had already thought of using it themselves someday. The USS Homestar hid behind a huge asteroid.
"Let's show them."
The USS Giver moved into the enemy's LOS, but hardly in their LOF. They kept repeating this over and over. Then when as soon as they thought their plan is working, they fired their LR HE AP rockets. They were spot-on.

The carrier shook as their puny HE rockets hit their hull. The Covenant shared their Plasma technology with one another, so a HE rocket did nothing but show them their shields.
Admiral Jahod'Lee also noticed their tactic. At least they had two of their cruisers, maybe a battlehip, another cruiser, or maybe they're hiding a carrier. Clever plan, but too simple.
"Launch all fighters, let's see what Green Sun has to offer."
All 140 Seraph fighters flew out of the sides of the ship. Their sleek design was perfect for enviromental and space combat. Green Sun would lose this battle.

Admiral Yakov watched as their rockets did nothing. So the rumors were true. If they were to take out their main weapons, they would have to break that barrier...
He saw as th enemy ship launched it fighters.
"USS Spice! Launch all your fighters! Now!"
One-hundred forty Green Sun Laser Gatling-gun armed fighters went to engage the enemy Seraph fighters. Laser and plasma met each other with feroicious power. Both ships were equally built, it seemed, when the admiral studied both.

Jahod'Lee watched in horror as his Seraph fighters were ripped to shreds. The enemy's laser gatling guns were completely bypassing the Seraph's shields and ripping apart the ship itself. If Green Sun has larger versions of that, who knows what they could do?
"Have all the fighters retreat and do a random jump!"
All the Seraphs retreated, but were torn apart before they reached the ship. Two cruisers and a carrier emerged. They detected large concentrations of energy on the Cruisers. They were ready to fire.
"Open a channel to them."

"Sir! We're getting a contact on Channel 107. Should we open?"
"Go ahead."
Admiral Jahod'Lee appeared on teh screen.
"So we're facing aliens. Hmm. Interesting. Alright. Surrender your ship and divert it to these galactic coordinates were you will be arrested and your ship will be taken apart. If you resist you'll be taken apart. If you attack the planet itself you'll be ripped open by it Orbital Guns. If you talk, when I get back to Green Sun I'll kill you myself. Good day," Admiral Yakov told his foe.

Captain Hahad'Lee couldn't believe the reports. Admiral Jahod'Lee had been captured along with his ship by two cruisers and a carrier. All of their fighters had been dissolved.
He had rea another report saying why they had lost the ship's fighters so easily. They concluded that their laser-tech was nothing more than high-powered highly-focused beams of light. Their plasma shields were matter and transparent matter at that, so the beams of light merely went through their shields with the maximum of being slowed, like light through water. Scout drones have reported that all three of the enemy's ships are coming towards one of United Culture's main port planets.
Were Captain Hahad'Lee was stationed in his battleship.
He leaned back in his chair. Such a tiny fleet...One carrier and one battleship with three repair bays and two cruisers being built. His battleship, even without the plasma shields, could take out the two cruisers and most of their fighters, but their carrier would still be a problem, especially if the two cruisers were lucky enough to hit the ship with their main guns.
Unfortuneately for them, United Cultures was founded by humans, not the Covenant, so they had MAC guns on their ship in addition to the plasma weapons mounted on every standard-issue vessel. If he was going down, he'd do it destroying them, too.

Admiral Yakov chuckled as he watched through a probe's eyes at their only remaining combat ship. It had its plasma shield and its main plasma gun, but also had a human-designed weapon. A MAC Gun. Very complex weapon, too complex to make handheld, jet and ship-mounted like their lasers. He nodded to his HyperJump officer. All three ships surrounded the space dock. The USS Spice launched its fighters while the USS Homestar and the USS Giver charged their lasers, which were already at 50% power. One salvo would annahilate the lower half of the ship. The fighters would clear out the Seraphs.

"FIRE!" Captain Hahad'Lee shouted as soon as the enemy ships appeared. They had been detected jumping through HyperJump, and knew their coordinates because of it. Three seperate MAC shells and all of its Plasma torpedoes sped towards all three enemy ships.

Admiral Yakov watched in horror as the USS Homestar was dissolved. The USS Giver and USS Spice were damaged, the former more so than the latter.
"How are the Laser Cannons?"
"Eighty-Five percent sir. Two minutes till they're ready!"
"Divert all power from cyro, prsonal, and dormitory areas to the Cannons, but keep the air supply going there."
"Yessir. Ninety-Five percent. One hundred percent."
"FIRE!"
A huge group of red beams shot towards the enemy Battleship. The Laser Cannon was really simple, like the Laser Gatling Gun and the rifles themselves. All they were was a group of laser guns grouped together to make one big, giant beam, but it took an enourmous amount of power with a huge block of uranium to power it. Not to mention it could fry the engines and all the systems if something went wrong.

Half of the lower part of the ship was blown off. One MAC Gun was destroyed, the other damaged so badly it was unuseable. They would have to rely on Plasma. The Seraph fighters had long since been destroyed and almost seven score of Green Sun fighters were swarming about, attacking the dock itself.
"Ready all the main Plasma turrets and fire all Plasma Torpedo pods at the carrier. I want those fighters demolished!"
"Yessir!"
"Hold that, fire three pods at the Cruiser. I want its Laser Cannon offline!"
"Roger!"
Blue flames erupted from the sides of the ship and flew on a beeline to the enemy carrier. All of the Plasma turrets were firing wildly at the enemy fighters. They had to protect the dock.

"Sir! We just took three Plasma Torpedos to the Laser Cannon! It's been destroyed!"
"Dammit..."
"More bad news! The USS Spice was destroyed!"
"What? Do we have any GOOD news?"
"Yes sir."
United Cultures

"Well? What is it?"
"Our plasma shield has been disabled with their Cannon's salvo. We're a Hunter with no armor."
"But we still have that gun. Get a Comlink to the enemy's ship."
"Yessir."

"We're being hailed."
"Onscreen."
An alien face appeared on the HUD. It was the ship's captain.

"Admiral, I have heard of your victory at the asteroid field against Jahod'Lee. Fine tactics. I applaud you and your victory. But now its seems we're holding a knife to each other's throat. One move and we're both dead. If I fire all my Plasma torpedoes, you launch your missiles, and as you already know and can see, our Plasma shield has been destroyed. And if you fire your rockets, we fire our Plasma. So if you dissengage we'll call this war a draw. Deal?"

"I must compliment you, as well, captain. Destroying the Spice and the Homestar was no easy task, but you managed it. All fighters, let's head home."
The cruiser left the damaged dock and the limping ship to rebuild itself as they HyperJumped home with cries of victory. Neither side won, but at least they've gotten their Plasma technology.
