Economic aid starts; Amarenthe becomes a Pacitalian colony

TIMIOCATO (PPA) - After much concern on the part of the Prime Minister and desperate pleas of need from the tiny, economically-ravaged Kingdom of Amarenthe (http://nseconomy.thirdgeek.com/nseconomy.php?nation=amarenthe), Pacitalia has agreed to set up an economic aid package that will help the small nation get back on its feet and have the ability to be self-sustaining once more.

Starting immediately, over five billion douros worth of aid supplies including food, inoculations, clean water, clothing, pillows and foam mattresses will make their way to the 18 million citizens of Amarenthe.

In return, Amarenthe temporarily becomes a colony of Pacitalia with autonomy and government independence but will still be required to take some advice or orders from the Pacitalian government. Pacitalia and Amarenthe will also exchange embassies in their respective capitals of Timiocato and Mynia.

Over a three-month period, Amarenthe's economy will be strengthened back to normalcy (at least $20,000 USD) by the use of Pacitalian economics - no spending on social programs or welfare until the economy is strong, and most of the government's spending devoted to the economy, commerce, popular employment and industrialisation.

"Our ultimate goal is that Amarenthe will eventually be able to sustain itself," Prime Minister Timothy Ell said at a joint press conference today. "Already we can see that the nation has the natural resources and raw materials to take care of itself when we are finished with our revitalisation of this poor nation. The only thing this small kingdom needs is an economic policy that suits what they have to offer and that can help them be self-sustaining and able to produce new jobs for the people that live here."

The Prime Minister of Amarenthe, Stephanie Coulson, added: "We have come to accept that our nation is no longer functioning prosperously. To put it simply, we need help. Pacitalia is willing to provide us with that help, and we are extremely grateful."

On behalf of the people of the Commonwealth, I am authorized to inform both Amarenthe and Pacitalia that if needbe aid packages to supplement those given by Pacitalia can be shipped off immediately. We hope that what seems to be a humanitarian crisis can be averted without any loss of life. Although skeptical of the temporary colonisation agreement, the Commonwealth notes that the immediate safety and welfare of the people of Amarenthe takes precedent.

"The Scarlet Empire should make it clear that we will not tolerate any attempts by the Pacitalian government to make their colonization permanent and will watch the situation carefully. Hopefully, the aims of the Pacitalians are benevolent, as stated and Edolian involvement will not become necessary."

"Amarenthe has no wishes to become a permanent colony of Pacitalia; we are extremely grateful, as we said earlier, for their help, but we will resume are status as an independant nation as soon as we regain solid footing. This agreement is temporary, and we are sure that intentions on Pacitalia's behalf are purely as stated, to help and nothing more. All Amarenthe needs is a good start in the right direction.

"Having said that, we would like to thank, once more, Pacitalia for their aid, as well as other countries who are willingly offering furthur help. We are touched by the international support."

We thank Edolia's Foreign Affairs Minister for his usual left-wing scepticism on any project the Pacitalian government undertakes. We are not a society of backstabbers, liars or imperialists. If we say something, we mean it, and our offer to help Amarenthe recover is no different. There are no secret intentions here.

Sarzonia expresses its disappointment with Edolia over the threatening tone of its message to Pacitalia. We will also monitor the situation with our allies and this temporary state of occupation.

However, we will also serve notice to you that we will watch you as well. Any further threats from Edolia will be dealt with appropriately.

“The Scarlet Empire shall never cease to vigorously defend the rights and freedoms of all the peoples of the world, and certainly not for the blustering of fascist dogs who would seek to see all the world under their dirty thumbs. However, I wish to reiterate that on behalf of all the people of Edölia, I hope dearly that the Pacitalians are indeed honest and transparent in this regard and that they bring good to the people of Amarenthe.”

Sarzonia wonders how these events involving an agreement between two soverign nations affects Edolia. We are thoroughly unimpressed with your continued threats to Pacitalia and we will view any further interference in their affairs unkindly.

We strongly advise the government of Edolia that they are not the policemen of the world and we are insulted at the implication that either Pacitalia or Sarzonia are fascist in any way.

We will continue to monitor the situation.

We see the views of your nation as terribly hypocritical, especially since the name of your country blatantly includes the word Empire. However, you still see it as acceptable to accuse us of imperialism, when really, you need a mirror. We will be keeping a close on you to make sure you don't pull any stunts. Our help is genuine and selfless. We don't want or need to get anything out of this deal except friendship with Amarenthians. Is that clear, Mr. von Pickett?

The Federal Republic of Canada is also of interest in helping rebuild the economy of the Kingdom of Amarenthe and also to establish friendly relations between our nations.

The Federal Republic of Canada is glad to see one of her close allies working in great respect of poorer nations then her own.

“I believe that this exchange is utterly ridiculous and the time has come for it to end. It is always the business of the Scarlet Empire when the freedom and liberty of another people are threatened. Although this may or may not be the case here, Edölia will observe the situation carefully. That is all.”

For the last time, we are not colonising them for imperialist purposes. We are colonising them because it's easier for us to implement these economic revitalisation policies. When the economic resuscitation is complete, they are free to become independent again, without question. We don't care if you help or not. This is a mission of goodwill for Amarenthians.

Last I checked, Edolia wasn't a perfect country with so few of its own issues that it has the time to meddle needlessly in the affairs of another country when they aren't warranted.

Sarzonians also cherish freedom and liberty and we consider your consistent interference with Pacitalian affairs an exercise in hypocrisy as we consider that a threat to the soverignty of Pacitalia.

You are welcome to "monitor" the situation if you choose to, but be warned that your actions have earned an unfavorable opinion by the Incorporated Sarzonian Government. In addition, we will be monitoring the activities of your government to ensure that you do not stick your proverbial noses where they don't belong.

Understood. We apologise. The Concordiat's only worth is the military however. Any aid in that field will be readily provided if asked for.
