Today, in his home in Port Hope, President Jackson Maverick died in his sleep. The President, whose age was pushing ninety, has been head of the country for well over fifty years, at the council's discretion.
The chronic heart disease which plaqued him was sadly beyond the doctors that treated him. Survivors include a daughter, Anna, and a sister, Patricia.
President Maverick is credited with leading Parlim away from the Corporation-based government, uniting the peoples of Cloudshore (an island off the Parlimian mainland, when it was based on Earth), saving the country from Bankruptcy, and, greatest of all, leading Parlim into space. Millions have turned out to honor him, and his great life. He shall always be remembered.
Meanwhile, with reports of attacks on outlaying outposts growing, the council has acted quickly, and named William Cloudshore (http://www.ffempire.de/FF10/bilder/port-tidus.jpg), 1st Admiral of the Fleet President of Parlim. He and his wife, Anna Cloudshore (http://img17.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img17&image=leader5jt.jpg) (Former President Maverick's daughter) have already undergone the coronation ceramony.
When asked to comment on the attacks, Cloudshore stated that he had to See to his adopted father's (Maverick) funeral, and that he could not comment at such a time.
In other news, construction has started today on a sub-space catapult, a device designed to fire Parlimian ships to a selected destination thousands of light years away...
