New Shivan Craft
With the exodus from subspace and the loss of all shipyards, major capital ships and most of the population the Honour clan had no choice but to adopt new strategies and ships. From the outset of the great war the main way to attack was on mass with large fleets, however with the destruction of most of the clans and the loss of all major ship building infrastructure the elders now found this to be an impossible task. As a result a young Shivan thinker Cravolan thought up new tactics and designed, with the help of other scientists, ships to match the current demand.
With the break through in organic technology, and the already expert way at adapting inorganic substances from nebulas and planets it was necessary to begin the production of small assault ships.
The current trend in fighters such as the famous Mara had no choice but to be relegated to the background of the Shivan armada due to its inferior shield and hull, instead a completely new option of ship production and ship design was taken.
The first ship in development was primarily a boarding weapon and stealth ship. “The Graner”

This vessel proved more than adequate with twice the performance in all areas compared to the Mara fighter. Its greater capacity at speed and manoeuvrability due to its smaller body size allowed the Graner to be mass produced very quickly with the still primitive ship building facilities. With its four completely adaptable weapon mounts this fighter has a complete arc of cover providing excellent offensive and defensive protection.
The vessel primarily organic melded with Shivan ion weapons assists the fleet in disabling most targets. While the superiority fighters which have much greater firepower come in for the kill.
The Verlac I
The Superiority fighter of the Shivan fleet is mostly organic, apart for a few systems inside the vessel. Bred within Nebulas these vessels were constructed by mere chance. While the Shivan research division was searching for greater ways to enhance their already promising biological division they stumbled through utter accident the growth of the Volet. Tamed and allowed to grow within the nutritious and necessary environment of a nebula the Volet developed a hard outer shell capable of withstanding some of the most powerful Shivan weapons at the time. Growing larger with age the Volet is capable of reaching sizes up to One Hundred and fifty meters though none have lived long enough to grow any larger.

As the age increases so does the power in the Volets self defence weapons. These weapons mounted in the front of the vessel are complex energy weapons, with the very young ships barely capable on penetrating Mara fighters shielding to the larger vessels ability to disintegrate it where it flies.
The renewability and ease of growth a reproduction of this ship makes out of the most preferred vessels in the Shivan fleet today.
The third major design in Shivan fighters were the Graleths. These Inorganic and Organic composite are the heavy weapons of the Shivan fleet. Only One Hundred and six meters in length they are not the largest ship ever constructed however they are one on the most deadly.
Using traditional Shivan material these Assault ships are designed to take out larger capital ships on a swarm basis. Too small to hit with the larger weaponry of capital ships, these ships boast the manoeuvrability to hit and attack the weaker spots on the larger capital ships such as the more than usually unprotected engine region.

Being easy to mass produce and only requiring the use of one Shivan pilot these craft are deemed far more productive than the capital ships that merely had thirty beam cannons but required the crews of thousands.
These fighters come equipped with inner system jump nodes however to move from system to system carrier ships are required limiting the fleet in someways due to the current restriction in Carrier vessels. Because of this the need arose for portable Hyperspace gates which were created with their own Hyperspace engines and production field allowing fighters to move between two points once the gates have been established.
