Celebrations are still continuing in Mattvia, celebrating the New Year, the celebrations will go on for another two days. Last night saw the biggest fire work display in five years, for Mattvia.

Mattvia has today announced that the formation of two more V 2 stations will be built, they should be ready by January 12th. They will be based outside of Xar Hudag & Haxal Hudag.

"Earlier today, after judging the anual Harem Pagent, as part of his duties, Admiral U.Namtar the second shocked the nation when he officially proposed marriage to one of the Pagent contestants he had, just hours before, judged not to be the winner.
The 21 year old Taino woman, known only as Natika, was competing in the Puerto Rico municipal compitition against tough compitition. She has graciously accecpted the Admiral's proposal, the marriage ceremony is said to take place in the Uruk temple to Inanna in 8 days."

"In other news. The Senate of Civil Affairs announced yesterday that starting tommorow, no one who is not a member of the Taino or Sumerian religion may be a citizen of the Dostanuot Loj Republic. This announcment came after recent threats and attempted conversions from a religious group located in the Kuwaiti that is not recognised by the nation.
Those not of the official faiths are being given the option to live in this nation as an unfranchised legal resident, to imigrate from the nation, or to convert. Those citizens who are affected by this new law are being given one year to fully comply, in a methoed that the government sees as very fair. Furthermore, all affected will keep their current citizenship until that one year period expires, whereas if they have not chosen an option, they will be deported.
Already a small portion of those in question have converted, claiming they had no idea they were legally considered members of the non-state religions. And still more have opted for the permenant resident option.
The Department of Internal Security also announced, following the declration by the Senate of Civil Affairs, that anyone caught mocking, harassing, insulting, or in any other way infringing on the rights of these people as humans will be arested and tried as such. The government does not wish to allow the people in question the privlage of politcal franchise.
Both the Senate of Civil Affairs and the Department of Internal Security expressed quite strongly that this does not mean that peoples not of the two national religions are not welecome in Dostanuot Loj. All travellers, regardless of religion, ethnicity, gender, age, or sexual orientation are welecome within this nations borders, however only governmental franchise may be held by someone of either the Taino or Sumerian faith. Fortunatly for the government, only aproxemetly 6.5% of the population (Annual Internal Affairs Census) will be affected by this new law.

Lithuania and Latvia United

Today a document was signed by both countries which concluded the long series of talks about the union of the two countries. It announced that the two countries would be run out of the Lithuanian capital Vilnus, all emergency services would be merged as well as the armed forces. The pledges of the new government led by PM Andrew Burke was a stronger economy focussing on the Iron and Coal industry and a bigger role in Baltic politics. Other measures included the out lawing of gun ownership of private citizens and the creation of a new detective force to break up the underground criminal organisations that plagued the old coutries. The New nation we be called the Democratic Republic of Lithuania and Latvia or DRLL.

Celebrations in Mattvia have ended today.

"With the recent emergance of pigen typo languages created from the two official languages of Dostanuot Loj, Taino and Sumerian, the government has decided to step in and provide a Linguistic Reform.
Currently the semi-pigen languages that are showing are sporadic, unorganised, and varied. The government hopes to create a standardised language from the two, but different, and add it to the other two official languages. No intention to replace the older languages is meant by this move.
Fortunatly, by barrowing elements from Taino and Sumerian, the new language will be more easy to learn for Dostanuot Loj's citizens, of whom 84% are bilingual in both official languages.
An advisemt to forign travelers comming to Dostanuot Loj, ontop of the advice to learn the Territorial Language of the area they will visit, is to learn this new one when it is implmented, it will certianly help in comunication."

OOC: My nation is made up of 2 regions, each with a seperate language, and both are made official languages. As such, they're both taught early in school, so most people are bilingual.

Mattvian troops are massing on the border with Luxembourg!

GANN ~: The climate over the Ascendancy colonies of Montana, Wyoming, and Idaho, have started to become slightly wetter, as shown in the latest snowfall in the reigion, dumping over 20 inches in the mountians, and average 7 in the valleys, all in the past 24 hours.

This is the result of successful experiments with a Class-I Climatizer system, being tested in the field by New Aroura Science Institute technicians, in hopes to retard the drought situations of the region. The results are reported at 15% more than calculated.

In a related note, ski areas in the region have gotten a boost by 20% in tourisim, due to intense advertising by the Domestic Advisory Board.

Tallinn Naval Base, RBS

PM Burke was shown aboard the aircraft carrier BSS Vilnus, it had stored up with provisions and weapons for its 4 month patrol. He was very impressed with what he saw, young sailors efficiently went about their business pausing to salute him before they were waved on. His guide was Rear Admiral Johanssen, commander of the 1st Carrier Battle Group the most powerful set of ships the country had ever put to sea. He followed the admiral into the munitions magazine, stacked from floor to ceiling where AIM-9's, AIM-54's and other ordance. So this was what 5 billion dollars he had given to the military had been spent on. Suddenly a huge roar filled the room, the admrial smiled 'just a pair of F-35's taking off'. After an hour of snopping around the PM left the ship and watched it be guided out of the harbour and out into the Baltic where it would meet up with the other 18 ships of the group. Burke smiled the world would not know what hit them.

The admiral was in his element, on the bridge of his ship with the narrow channels of the Baltic ahead of him and then into the massive Atlantic. He could see the other carrier of the group BSS Riga, it had cost 4.5 billion just to get it into service and another 2 billion for her air group, consisting of 60 F-35C JSF and 18 other support aircraft. The guided missile cruisers and destroyers formed a protective ring around the pair of carriers and 3 LA class SSN formed a recon screen 60 miles infront. His destination has the Horn of Africa for some more nation pinching.

It was midnight when TSD Troops invaded Yugoslavia and took the capital, casualities where minimum.

West of Portugal, 1st CBG

The group was now in full battle order, the carriers at the centre of a protective ring of air-defence destroyers and anti-submarine frigates. In the sky 3 pairs of F-35's patrolled the sky armed with the white tipped updated AIM-54 Phoenix, AIM-9X Sidewinders and AMRAAM's. As far as the RBS's intelligence could see there was no naval presence within 500 miles and the only active naval movements were around the south-west Pacific. The group had one objective, to take Gibraltar an annex it.
Admiral Johanssen ordered the CBG to turn east into the straights of the Gibraltar, the ships stopped 50 miles short of the defenceless colony. A squadron of 12 F-35's armed with GBU-24 laser guided bombs took off the carrier Vilnus and screamed towards Gibraltar. At the same time the Marine detachments on the 2 carriers were piling into SH-60 Seahawk helicopters and checking weapons.
The F-35's were supported by 4 more of the aircraft who were in the air-air configurement, controlling the air operation was a Sentry AEW plane which directed jets and helicopters to their respective targets. The strike package was 10 miles out when a laser lock was confirmed on the runway of Gibraltar airport, 10 seconds later 12 bombs zeroed in on the runway and created 12 neat holes across it.
30 minutes later 6 SH-60's touched down on the tarmac of the airport and the 60 marines that jumped out immeaditley began to fan out and secure the terminal buildings and refuelling facilities. The other 6 choppers landed around the military HQ building and governors house taking the men into custody. Soon the whole island knew what had happened and stayed at home while Marines patrolled the streets and naval engineers began to repair the runway.
Inside 2 weeks the Gibraltarians had voted in favour of the Baltic States over the existing governing powers and the colony had been annexed to the RBS. The carrier group will stay put for the next few months to run battle operations and protect the new aquisition from any aggressive nations.

Well as you see, yes we are indeed the 5th Earth in NS, but as the may or maynot know, we had up very different rules and threads based upon our own theroies. We made a whole system in how you can claim nations, which you stole I might add. You could at least changed it in some way. And as for the name of thins thread; I'm sure you could have came up with a name instead of just copy and pasting.

Gibraltar,

Naval construction battalions (seabees) were working round the clock to improve Gibraltars airfield so it cound hold a whole Air Experditionary Force (9,500 men, 198 planes/helicopters) the only way to make the storage space for the jets was to build a labrinth of underground chambers which contained, hangars, magazines, engineering workshops and command posts. The first planes to arrive were the Tornado Gr.4's of the 1st Fighter-bomber Squadron, they taxied along the runway and down the ramp directed by landing personel (from the carrier BSS Vilnus) into their squadrons hangar. While the pilots went to the mess for some hot chow the ground crew checked over their beloved planes.

At the same time more engineers were working to expand the docks so the carrier group could be based their for the forseeable future, a new drydock of massive proportions was taking shape which would be able to take a carrier. Back in the RBS ammunition ships were being readied to take ammunition supplies to the colony, this included live warshots. The garrison at the moment was only 120 marines who had taken the colony in the first place, but this was due to change as the 1st Light Infantry Division (15,500 men) was scheduled to fly out in the next couple of days with their heavy equipment following by ship.

The Carrier Group had recieved new orders some rather strange orders that would be sure to provoke other nations (I want an RP). Johanssen shrugged and ordered the neccessary actions. 30 minutes later 2 LA Class SSN's started laying Mk-60 CAPTOR mines along the straight of Gibraltar, 2 lines of 12 mines were layed across the straight. 2 hours later 4 Nimrod Mr.4 from Gibraltar added another 2 lines of the mines to the field. (CAPTOR mines identify and attack ships/subs, so they have been programmed to attack anything but RBS ships, so merchant ships will be sunk). Meanwhile Johanssen pulled the carrier group back out into the Atlantic Ocean to give it manoevering room.

Riga,

The group of ships was leaving the harbour in good order, the ammunition and transport ships first, followed by their escorts and further out to sea was the Squadron of submarines that would provide support for the group. Contained in the convoy was enough munitions to fight a war for several months and the equipment of the Infantry Division on Gibraltar. They were escorted by 2 Ticonderoga Class cruisers and 3 Arleigh Burke Class destroyers.

A aide ran into the Governors office, on Malta.
The Governor looked up at the man, "well, what is it?" he asked, he knew that it was going to be serious, he saw it in the mans eyes.
"Sir, it's, it's Loegyr....." he cached his breath. "They've closed the Strait of Gibraltar, we can;t get out, they've used mines!" He said.
"They've done what!!" The Governor shouted at the top of his voice, the garden staff, outside in the garden looked up in surprise, the window was open. Two guards thought something had happened to the governor, they ran up stairs.
"Freeze", they aimed there rifles at the aide.
"Don't worry men, nothings happened, you get me the doctor." One of the soldiers ran down stairs to get the doctor.
The other one, gave a salute, which was returned by the governor, nd marched, by the door, and stood at a attention.
"Right then, phone to the governor in Crete in France, and I will phone back to Mattvia. These bastards will pay!"
And with that the aide walked out, and the doctor came in.
"You rang sir?"
"Yes, I did, check my stress levels, I've just had the worst news, I fear all out war."
"Oh dear."
The doctor looked him over, everything was ok, his blood pressure was a bit to high, so he gave him some pills, and told him to rest. The governor of course ignored this, and when the doctor left he picked up the phone, and rung the private number to Lord Kaiser Mattuis.
A servants voice was on the other end, and he got the LK.
The LKs voice came on, annoyed by the sound of thing.
"Yes?" he said.
"Sir, governor of Malta here, my Lord!"
"Ah, James, how are you?"
"Um, not to good your majesty."
"Why?"
"Our worse fears have happened, they've closed the strait of Gibraltar."
"Oh, my god" the Lord Kaiser replied, he on the other end of the line went pale.


Telegram to Loegyr:

We are aware that you have closed the straits of Gibraltar, we demand they be opened, we give you three days, to remove these mines, or we will do something we don't want to do.

We are aware that you have laid mines along the Strait of Gibraltar. And have closed it, we give you until 5:00pm (GMT) on Tuesday the 11th of January 2005, or a state of war, may be declared. I do hope we can work it out without using war.

The intercomm in Admiral U.Namtar II's office buzzed, and he reluctantly answered it. "What now, I was taking a nap." he said quite tersly to whoever was buzzing him.
"Sir, FleetCom just reported that Loegyr was mining the Straight of Gibraltar."
"They what?" The Admiral replied, obviously annoyed at this new devlopment.
"A satalite that passed over the region detected Loegyr forces invading the Gibralter Straight and their forces were in the process of mining the waterway, we are yet unsure if they mined all of it. However, FleetCom says another satalite will be over the area shortly."
"Very well, tell Central Intelligance to contact the Loegyr Government if we have confirmed the straights have been fully mined. Have them reminded that we use these waterways, and will not tolerate these actions without a due explination."
With that, The Admiral clicked off his intercomm and got up, walking out of his office to the command room.
He turned to the Navy desk, and the Captian sitting there, "Contact Cyprus base, tell them to get the 3rd fleet on full combat alert. Also, contact Dorado, have them get the 5th fleet on full alert, and contact the Basra base as well, I want the 2nd fleet up to full alert just in case. And get the Marines on standby, I want them ready incase Loegyr does not provide a viable explination of their actions and we are forced to take that land."
"Yes sir!" the young Captian replied, quicklygetting to work.

All in their respective bases, the three Fleets ordered on full alert began preparations. All weapons in the aresonol were prepared, and loaded into the ships. A group of SpecWep officers barked orders to some more SpecWep soldiers, armed gaurds watching as heavy black containers were loaded onto the Cruisers and Missile Submarines.
In the Marine barracks, men checked their weapons, vehicles were checked over, and rechecked.

OOC: I hope you really wanted some RPing, because if you're gonna be adamant about keeping that waterway mined, I'm gonna be adamant about removing them. Heh... this will be fun though.

GANN: ~ There seems to be tensions developing in the Straits of Gibraltar between Mattvia and Loegyr concerning the deployment of mines in the straits.

While warnings of military action have been issued by both sides, there has been an attempt for diplomatic ovetures sent as well.

The Ascendancy goverment had this to say.

*Cut to Lady Peorth, outside the Foreign Advisory Center.*

"The Republic is aware of the situation, and the Council has agreed to attempt diplomatic measures of it's own.

We thereby offer the goverments of Loegyr and Mattvia the use of our facilities and grounds as a neutral site to hopefully work out these issues, and any others that may hope to appease both sides in the spirit of compromise."

We the government of Mattvia accepts.

OOC- WTF, Satillites, reconnaisance planes CAPTOR mines sink to the bottom of the sea so you can't detect them by visual means. If you had seen the aircraft flying across the area youre first reaction wouldn't be mines. I need some good reasons for detecting these mines, no offence. I thought one merchant men would find it the hard way.

OOC:We have let's call it friends who saw it.Local people told us that they saw ships with mines on them, but you don't know this, it's secret.

There was marching bands, playing the national anthem, as well as in the end, the Lord Kaiser went in his open top car, around the city.

PM Burke was very worried about the worlds sudden finding of the mines in the Strait, he'd hoped to keep it secret untill the first merchant men began to sink in the Med. That way the RBS was going to take economic control over the Med and the old adage said, 'who controlled the Med controlled the world'. Obviously that wasn't going to happen now the Mattvians had found out, however RBS could not lose face over this issue. They had 3 days till the deadline set and expired by that time extra munitions and waships would have arrived to bolster the armed presence in the Western Med.

We accept the Gaian Ascendancy's offer to host peace talks and a diplomatic team will be arriving shortly to begin negociations with the officials of Mattvia.

OOC: Your planes can't drop mines without the mines being seen dropping from them. and you said you dropped them from some planes, so I got to see those. And by the way, although it may be true that "control the medeteranian, control the world", you have to contend with everyone you'll piss off doing it. And it doesn't look like you've been around long enough to have too big an army... let alone enough to get into something this big.
Fun though, very fun.

We accecpt the offer by the Gaian Ascendancy to negotiations hosted by them. However, we forwarn the Loegyr government, that this incident is not accecptable.
Total military control and restriction of the Straights of Gibralter is not accecptable, we believe that waterway to be free to all people.
We demand the mines be removed imediatly, whereas we can negotiate your control over the land.
If the mines are not removed imediatly, it will not be below us to respond with the full military force avalible, including our nuclear arsenal.

Burke was shocked, what were these fools thinking. No damage had been done and this Admiral U.Namtar II was brandishing his nuclear weapons like his favourite toy. Well the RBS's SSBN's were being put on war footing and the ICBM silos were fully alerted and the missiles were being fuelled. No country could take lightly the threat of nuclear destruction.

I am deeply worried by your countries apparent ease in threatening nuclear attack. Never can a first strike be justified, especially by a few mines in a waterway you do not even use. The mines will be kept there for the time being as firstly we have no way in removing them at the moment and I do not wish to remove them as RBS trade is soaring as no other ships can reach the Med. I will send a team to the negociations, kindly organised by the GA, and hopefully we will be able to resolve our differences.

Gibraltar,

The convey had arrived, the munitions and equipmet were being offloaded into secure magazines and the men of the 1st Light Infantry Division were being mated up with their vehicles. 6 Patriot batteries were being set up at the top of the rock and 6 quad Tomahawk launchers (a land based launch system for 4 Tomahawks) were being positioned and camoflauged. The engineers of 1 LI were making fortifications and firepoints across the island, but especially the rock which would be almost impossible to take.

The six submarines in thearte now crossed the minefields and took up positions 60 miles east of Gibraltar. They lowered their speeds to 2 knots and rigged for ultra quiet making them almost undetecable to passive sonar. At the same time the remainng units of the 1st AEF were landing in Gibraltar and shortly after 12 Eurofighter Typhoons soared aloft carrying a variety of air-air missiles, their patrol track was 60 miles East of Gibraltar exactly over the subs. Every 2 hours a new group of 12 would swap to keep crews alert and to make sure that everyone knew the situation. Behind the fighter screen was a Sentry AEW escorted by 2 more Eurofighters and 2 KC-135 tankers who in the event of a fight would be able to top off the fighters tanks so they did not have to go back to base. The only other planes operating were 3 Nimrod Mr.4's who were scouring the sea for any kind of naval activity.

"What about the Suez canal?" the Governor said, he had called all the governors of Crete and France, as well as two admirals and a few generals.
"Well, we could go though, but we may have to force our way though." One of the admirals said.
"Him, we could fly a airborne division and capture the Suez?" Said one of the generals.
"No we can't get into another war" the governor said.
" I know, aide get the map of the med, quick."
"Ja"

OOC: I'm just going to check who control the Suez Canal.

The aide brought the map.
They looked.
"No luck, another nations has it, a Ahkmet?" the aide said.
"Ah yes, bugger, well it looks like war is the only way. Admirals, I want you to go back to France and get your U-boats out, sink any ship that looks like it is bring reinforcements. We have at least 80 Divisions in the Med, they don't stand a chance." The governor got up and walked out, of the room, they all sat there for a while and then left.

OOC- Anything said that is offencive on Mattvia Empire Radio, I don't men it, it's all RP because that is meant to be the hard line radio station, propaganda!

OOC: Eh, Loegyr, you're a little new to be having nuclear weapons. In fact, I only just got them now, and from what I understand, nations who use them who havn't been around 2 months are generally ignored. Also, half my nation is in the Carribean, I use the Straight of Gibralter quite extensivly, you are effectivly cutting my nation in half via military power, which warrants nuclear threats.

Hataria just copied my list (and most of my rules) because he was jealous that my Earth V was more successful than his pathetic Earth IV, and then he found a gullible person to remake his entire list from scratch when I complained, and never admitted his guilt.

In Admarial Abel's office a fax came through. He riped it off and read it through briefly. He then turned to his computer and pushed a few buttons. On the screen apperared a radar readout of a plane dropping mines across the Gibralter straights.

"Absurd idea" though the Admarial to himself. They had better stop these people anyway. The Hatieians controled Spain and though Gibralter was currently neautral, nautrally the British govenment would soon have something to say about this. He called Air force command.

"Prepare a Night light consinement for a floating mission" he said down the phone.

Within a few hours, three aircraft from the Svalarbard Airbase were wining their way towards the straits of Gibralter. They all droped below radar level and proceeded to drop two torpedos into the water each. The torpedo's however did not sink. Instead, each one inflated a plastic skirt and floated on the sea surface in the middle of the minefield. They then began relasing the nightlight chemical into the air. After about an hour, one of the planes made a passing return run. It fired a flare straight into the nightlight cloud, creating an explosion across the minefield. This sucked all the oxygen in the air towards it and detonated all the mines in the region. The planes then returned to Svalarbard.

OOC: Neo, I don't think it's going to be that easy, the mines are on the bottem of the straight.
Of course, if it were that easy.. or I just didn't feel like enjoying some RP, I would have just deatonated a nuke or 2 underwater in the area, which would effectivly remove the mines. And gladly take on heading the clean-up afterwards.

Eh, I think they're a freaky type of mine that releases from the bottem and float up upon detection of a sub or ship to destroy the sub or ship.
Besides, most sea mines actually reside 50m below the surface on a chain, and are released by a magnetic latch when a ship comes too close.

OC- These mines are sort of hybrids between mines and torpedos, they sink to the bottom of the ocean were they activate a passive sonar which can be programmed to attack certain ships and leave others. On detecting an enemy ship the mine/torpedo comes to life and goes up to a top speed of 40 knts and explodes beneath the target. I'm making a new thread by the way for the whole incident, I think we need to keep it moving :)

The flight of three flare fighters left the base at Svalarbard. Given the ineffeciveness of the fist attack, the second was to be more direct. As they reached the straits, the fighters swooped low and fired three missiles each into the water. They carried on down towards the mines like torpedos. As they got in range of the field, they simultaniously detonated EMP bursts, frying the tracking and detination circuts of the mines, rendering them useless.

OOC:Again I have to warn you, you can not just simply fly over and blow them all up, I have said that already! That was the point of the RP, you couldn't blow them up that easily!

Yea, I'd say good thing Neo got there.. I probably would have all out nuked the waterway to remove those mines. And you have to agree, a pair of 1mt nukes deatonated underwater would certinaly clear those mines out.
Yes, I'm aware of envronmental reprocussions, I would have delt with those too.
Anyway, I have to agree that the EMP may not have gotten every mine.

OC- Neo Cannen, maybe I have a whole Carrier Group next to the straights and they have fighter patrols all over the straight. Therefore you simply can't just swan in and destroy the mines (your method seems a little unviable as well). You'd have to fight through the air defences of a carrier battle group, the F-35's providing air cover and then finally the patriot batteries on Gibraltar itself
