The board room grew hotter by the minute. The other 19 advisors on the Tactics Council grew restless. 15 minutes late. Lucius was always notoiously hard-nosed about impunctuality. But Lucius himself was late, a rare occurance indeed.
The door swung open. Lucius stalked briskly into the board room. He was obviously distressed, and the advisors knew better than to disturb Lucius while he was stressed.
He pulled up the seat at the head of the table and drew out his briefcase. No one spoke. Finally, Lucius spoke.
“Good news,” he said, to everyone’s surprise. “And bad news,” he continued.
“Tell of the bad news,” Titus spoke up.
“Right.” Lucius pulled out his glasses and slipped them on. “The bad news is the communist rebels have risen again.”
A man fell back in his chair. Frantic whispering broke out among the council.
“How is this possible?” Asked the man who had fallen back in his chair. “They had surrendered to us many years ago.”
“But now they have risen in more drastic numbers. Reports have come in of soldiers with binoculars, spying on the Comatic Military Base.”
“What is the good news?”
We have captured an entire base. We stormed it on a moment’s notice this afternoon. An estimated 2,000 soldiers were killed, and the rest were captured. They will arrive to the island of Goedius for detaining in 1 week.”
“How many were captured?”
Lucius scratched his ear. “Almost 50,000.”
“We must stop them. With numbers like that at one base, who knows how many there are. Were there is one dangerous rebel, there are more.”
“Right.” Lucius squeezed a fist. “Let us prepare a scouting troop to find these bases.”
“How many?” Asked Titus, taking a note down.
Lucius thought for a second. “2,000 will do, split up into companies of 12. Get the GTF on it.”
“Right away sir,” said one woman, and prepared to put a call through to the GTF.
