The crisp morning air and the fog it produced were perhaps the two greatest assets of the forest dwellers. With the ability to strike rapidly and fade away into the mists, their assaults had plagued to Order for months. Not anymore. Not after the Order Militant was finished with them.

“Brothers, with the blessing of Vict Ba, we prepare to destroy the idols and false worship of the heathens. We move for the Gods, so that they might return again some day. We fight for righteousness!” As the exhortations of the guide rang in their ears, the first columns of Converts began to line up in battle formation.

Behind them stretched acre after acre of woodland, cleared of any and all life that dared to resist the chosen ones. Ahead of them stretched the largest force of forest dwellers ever seen. Numbering in the thousands, these were the core, the true fanatics of the insidious enemy. The enemy that would not convert.

“My Brothers, we move towards a new beacon upon this planet, a glorious and sacred beacon. The forces of dark work to stop the beacon from being lit. These are the forces against us! These are the stone in our path, the pike in the way of the Gods! We must show the Gods who their followers worship! We must show them the blood of our enemies!”

As roars sounded across the clearing in which the forces of Ne Sout Wal stood, the grim faced tree dwellers opposing them began to advance. Outnumbered ten to one, it looked like it was to be a slaughter by the heathens. At least, until another column of Converts and their keepers formed up behind the first. But this was not what made the forest people stop. No, it was the sight of the massive works of the Pioneers advancing towards them that caused the stoic host to waver and finally stop. It was a standoff- at least until the signal was given by Preacher Absalom.

ooc: I'll play the forest dwellers.

IC: Amun stood at the head of his people. He had led them through peacetime, he had led them through the raids against the plainsmen. And now, on the ancestral forests of his people, he would fight them to the death. There would be no more melting away into the forest. Good clansmen had tried that already this time, and all that remained was a track of lifeless forest stretching behind the army from the land that they called Ne Sout Wal.
His warriors were massed behind him, clutching their spears, axes, and bows. Their deafening battlecries filled the air, but Amun was not sure if they were genuine roars of hatred, or attempts to block out the fear caused by the warmachines arrayed against them. Behind him, a single drum began to beat slowly, rythmically. That drum had always been beaten at a victory.
His men stood there, waiting for the army opposite them to make the first move. The warmachines had brought the forest dwellers to a dead stop, although they could not flee for the shame it would bring them. Amun knew this, although he hoped that they would take the fight to the enemy when he commanded.

ooc: Very well done. This is the kind of rp I like to see (and which I see all too rarely...by the gods can no one spell anymore!?!). Anyway, since the gods were mentioned, do you guys mind if I take the forest-dweller side as a priestess-hood or something?

[OOC- Thanks to Taldaan. Note that there will be more battles, converts, etc... Ne Sout Wal will eventually stretch acoss Australia. Any Aussies, you'll love the delicious irony in the names of the gods. At least if you know the names of Sydney area landmarks.

Kaymiril, it's called Microsoft Word. Many have seen it, few have grasped it. :). It takes a bit longer, but is worth it. And that wasn't even good work on my behalf. I promise to ramp it up a notch next time, but I just wasn't in the mood too much this time. And yes, you can join. Just don't expect many victories. Or mercy. Nope, none of that.]
