>NEWS BRIEF COMMENCES<

After many years of research, experimentation, and finally implementation, the Dominion of Godular is proud to announce the first Generation of Godulan Citizenry made up entirely of genetically enhanced humans. A nationwide effort went into effect over the past several years to regulate pregnancies and conceptions so that the genetic modifications could be put into place. After much hard work and toil, the Governate was pleased to announce that every single child born in the past ten years was part of the "New Breed" of Godulans.

"It took us slightly longer than usual because we didn't want to risk retro-active gene mods," Grand Poobah Cassius Longarm stated during a press conference, "We really didn't want to have to play 'trial and error' with people who were already fully developed."

The genetic modifications are purported to present the following benefits:
-Heightened Intelligence and Willpower
-Improved Reflexes / Reaction Time
-Heavier Bone Density, making them somewhat hardier
-Heavier Muscle Density, making them somewhat stronger
-Improved Cardiovascular system, enabling better breathing and short-term resistance to vacuum exposure
-Improved Immune System, allowing greater resistance to disease and even some poisons.
-Phostosynthetic Skin, enabling higher endurance capacities, particularly in sunlight, and the ability to hold one's breath indefinitely while in sunlight.

This last feature in the modification caused somewhat of a stir among what used to be a faction of Nazis that had somehow managed to remain hidden within the depths of Godulan society up until they started attempting to assassinate the various archons. After two failed assassination attempts, all the neo-nazis were rounded up and either executed or sent to a desert world with no chance of escape or a happy ending.

Last reports were that they had been annihilated by some indigenous group calling themselves the "Free Men" but details are sketchy as to what caused the attack or the nature of the attackers.

Beyond this, effort has also been exerted to facilitate through genetic means an improved capacity for the Symbiotic Implantation of dying M'Lekk'Torr, a program which is expected to finish up next year. This symbiosis is expected to strengthen even further all military units and especially the genetically modified future soldiers.

When asked about how the unmodified humans will be dealt with, Cassius responded with "You'll live on, and when you pass on, there will simply be a modified human there to take your place. For the unmodified people it will simply be business as usual. It may sound callous, but truth be told the old species will simply be phased out of circulation."

The Godulan populace took this all in good stride. "Hey, I know where I'm going in my next life, why should I care what happens when I die? You make it sound like some of us should be expressing some kind of moral outrage about this or something."

Further comments as events warrant.

~Electronic Communication to Gondular~
If you really wanted supersoldiers, we could have just sent you a few vials of the Sarkarasetan Vampire Virus. You'd end up with the same effects in less time (except the photosynthesis) and would be able to get the entire population at once. We've already proven it can infect humans.

They aren't going to be the super soldiers...

The M'Lekk'Torr symbiotes are going to be the super soldiers.

(OOC: Remember "Distress Signal"? Its like that, but the troops still have their minds in exchange for the... benefits being somewhat weaker.)

>IN FURTHER NEWS (One Year Later)<

As the Dominion celebrates the first anniversary of commencing the full conversion of Godular's citizenry to genetically enhanced 'Homo Archonis', reports have begun circulating of some form of expansive project going underway at the many Godulan military installations throughout the Dominion, even within the territories of the satellite principalities.

Witnesses reported massive numbers of military personnel queueing up into rapidly set-up structures with no windows, then coming out sometime later seemingly none the worse for wear, but some also seemed to leave the building acting somewhat dizzy. It is unknown what is occurring within these structures, but it appears that all military personnel that have not undergone full-body cyberboosts are being sent through whatever this process is. This effectively prevents all of the Officer corps from lieutenant up from... whatever it is.

In an odd turn of silence, Grand Poobah Cassius Longarm declined comment, stating "I'll make a statement when we are damned good and ready. Quit bugging me, will ya? I'm on a forkin' COFFEE BREAK!"

More News as events warrant.

OOC: Read the documentation link... you'll see how nasty things just got. Also, it is important to note that not every soldier will be getting these boosts, but a damn good portion of them WILL.

OOC: Holy fuckin' crap you mean they over powered the soldiers? Hey how did those books work out for you?
Godular
31-12-2004, 21:54
OOC: Which books? OH... the occult books we bought several million copies of. I'd forgotten about those for a moment.

The books were more for trying to figure out how Godular would be able to even talk with the M'Lekk'Torr, as they communicate through pure primal emotion and instincts. But we also needed the books to find some way to ward off some of the nastier denizens of Protospace.

Lets just say the plane makes "The Warp" look like a frickin' petting zoo, and the M'Lekk'Torr are just the most populous of the various horrors. Godulan vessels take a risk every time they enter Protospace to pull a planeshift, but so far they haven't suffered any casualties.

As for the M'Lekk'Torr possession, they're pretty much using Godulan soldiers as "Coffins" for their old and dying. The weakened M'Lekk'Torr lack the strength to fully possess the subject, and the subject subsumes the mind of the possesser instead, giving the Godulan Soldier the M'Lekk'Torr's powers, but only in a weakened form.

You remember "Distress Signal"?

OOC: Not to say that you're 'godmodding,' but the idea of these symbiotes being able to heal themselves after being sliced in half is a bit... Unrealistic, at best. Also, around how many of these horrible monsters do you have in your arsenal? Even without superhealing, I'd hate to see the remains of the enemy forces...

OOC: Keep in mind the symbiote would have to live long enough to reattach his torso to his legs... like I said, it was the "Most Extreme Case". Getting sliced in half would pretty much be an instakill in any event. The symbiote would pretty much have to avoid dying to blood loss, system shock, and passing out from the pain, THEN scramble back to his torso and seal the wound. Slim chances in any event.

Really, its reserved for those with a "High Strength of Will", as even beating back the possession of a weakened M'Lekk'Torr is tremendously taxing on the mind of the symbiote. All in all, I'd say about a 10th of the military would consist of these symbiotes, pretty much making up the entirety of the Godulan Marines. Star Naval, Fighter Corps, and Regular Army will focus more on cybernetics and other mechanical boosts.

OOC: Yeah. Oh I get it. They use the soldiers as coffins so when they die the soldiers die and leave Godular unprotected. I'm probably wrong but hey it sounds good.

Nope. When the aging M'Lekk'Torr dies while trying to take over the Godulan host, it leaves behind a good portion of its Essence. The godulan soldier retains his/her mental faculties and essentially acquires a goodly number of nasty tricks as well.
