The Small Arms
of the
Imperial Layartebian Military
The Imperial Layartebian Military uses a vast number of small arms than range from the ancient M1911 .45ACP pistol to the new and advanced M8 LAR. However, the ILM also adopts its own weapons. Please note that these weapons are not for sale but this is done for commentary both positive and negative, critique, and discussion. Additionally, they are for declaration purposes so that in the event of a war that I am RP'ing, you can have some clue what is actually shooting at you.

M30 Assault Rifle
The M30 Assault Rifle is the standard issue rifle of all forces, replacing the M4 and M16A2. Both of these weapons were retired and are only in use by Special Forces or those who score expert marksmanship. Individuals who score expert marksmanship on their rifle training and those who are in Special Forces are allowed to carry whatever rifle they feel is their best weapon of use for both the situation and their own personal opinion. The M30 is available in two variants, one with a smaller barrel. The A1, equipped with an 11.50" barrel is for general purposes where fighting is under 500 meters. Accuracy is maintained out to 550 meters but effectively it is only meant to be used within 300 meters. Additionally, the 16.50" barrel of the A2 can be effective out to 550 meters. They have folding butt stocks and though they weigh in the 7 pound range, they distribute recoil effects evenly and allow for constant accuracy even in automatic fire. They use the standard NATO 5.56 x 45mm round. The A3 and A4 are lighter versions, using new production techniques. It lowers the weight of each rifle by 1 lb. and allows for a production cost of $1,100 for either the A3 Carbine or the A4 Rifle. The A5 Rifle is optimized for sniper duties and is called the Special Purpose Rifle. The A6 variant is a 16.00" barrel variant that utilizes the new 6.8 x 51mm standard round used by the ILM. It has an effective range of 600 meters and can mount all of the accessories that the other variants can mount and it is based off the M30A4 Assault Rifle. It is not in widespread service like the M80 or M81 but it is utilized by paratroopers and SOF.

M31 Heavy Machine Gun
The M31 is a heavy machine gun, meant to supplement the M2HB 12.7mm, made in the late 1930s. The M31 is 15.5mm and is vehicle mounted. It is not going to completely elminate the M2HB but rather on heavier armor and vehicles will be an option over the M2HB. It's superior range and power allow it to conduct both anti-surface and anti-air activities. The M31 is also unique in that it has a select fire mode with semi-auto, fully auto, and a five-round burst. This burst provides the most limited use of ammunition and the most deadly effects to be maintained. Against vehicles, 5 rounds is particularly deadly as well as against structures and other targets on the ground. The M31 also features a brass collection system. Empty shell casings ejected are returned to the box. A spring loading assembly pushes rounds back to make room for the shell casings, which are evenly stacked, providing a cost-effective alternative to the bullets. The M31A3 is a specially modified version for aircraft usage. The M31A4 HMG is a specially modified M31A2 with a higher rate of fire for aircraft use.

M33 Pistol
The M33 is the new standard pistol. Until now, the military has been using several pistols. Special Forces alone use some two dozen pistol types. The M9 Beretta 92F, the M1911 Colt .45, the H&K USP, and the Mk.23 SOCOM are the most popular of course. In standard infantry usage, only the M33 will be issued. Those who naturally score expert marksmanship and are in the Special Forces are allowed to carry whatever pistol they so choose. It comes in .45ACP like the Mk.23 and the 1911 and also in .40 S&W, to provide better power and accuracy than the 9 x 19mm of the Beretta 92F. The M33 is actually a modified USP Match. The A3/A4 come with an option for 3-round burst and also for an extended clip which increases magazine sizes by three times. The A5 features a .357SIG round, seen in the SIG Sauer P229 and the A6 features the 5.7 x 28mm rifle round seen in the P90 submachine gun and the Five-seveN pistol. The A7 features the powerful 10mm Auto bullet. Both upgrades allow for soldiers to maintain the degree of quality of the M33 and use additional rounds.

Thanks.
I assume the M30 muzzle velocity is for the A2. What is it for the A1? I ask, because guns like the M4a1, and ones with even shorter barrels than 14.5in(as in your 11.5in) have lower velocities. This means the bullets only retains lethality to a short range. I wonder how you can over-come slow muzzle velocity without increasing the barrel size?
For a short article on what I mean...
"There have been several reports from troops in Afghanistan regarding the lack of lethality of the SS109/M855 cartridge, particularly when it is fired from an M4 (US) or M8 (Canadian) carbine. This was also observed in Somalia. For the SS109/M855 to achieve lethality, it must be moving at a velocity of over 732m/s when it strikes its target. At this velocity and above, the bullet penetrates a short distance and then begins to yaw as its spinning slows and it tends to return to normal stable state, which is base forward. As the bullet yaws, it comes apart at the cannelure, scattering fragments and causing a relatively large wound channel. In practical terms, this translates to approximately 200m with a bullet fired from an M16 or similar rifle with a 558mm barrel at approximately 914m/s.
When fired from a carbine, however, the SS109/M855 bullet leaves the barrel with a velocity of only about 790m/s. Therefore by the time it has traveled downrange only 50m it has already dropped below the velocity threshold for enhanced wound ballistics. The net effect is that troops equipped with M4 or M8 carbines are using weapons that are only marginally more effective ballistically than a 0.22 Magnum at anything other an close-quarters battle distances.
The lack of wounding efficacy has caused some military elements to begin exploring the possibility of adopting a 5.56x45mm cartridge with an improved bullet or even a different caliber altogether with improved wound ballistics. Most of these efforts, now only in the earliest stages, have experimented with heavier bullets. For example, US special operations forces in Afghanistan now employ a match cartridge manufactured by US company Black Hills Ammunition that fires a 5g bullet at 792m/s in the M4 Carbine. This cartridge has proven to have improved terminal ballistics over the SS109/M855. Other experiments have been conducted with bullets weighting as much as 6.5g. Some have proposed adopting an entirely new caliber, but this is unlikely in the immediate futures."

Good point, I didn't think of that. I'll have to edit that.

Still, I dont understand how this A1, with an 11.5in barrel can maintain a higher fps than the M-16a2, much less the M4a1.

Still, I dont understand how this A1, with an 11.5in barrel can maintain a higher fps than the M-16a2, much less the M4a1.
M16A2 has a 3,250 fps with 20". So you should ask how the A2 has a MV equal to that of the M16A2. Simple answer. Hotter load.

M34 SLATDW
The M34 is a unit replacement for the M136 AT4. The flaw of the AT4, for the ILM was its bulky size. The previous M72 LAW was most compact and significantly easier to employ. The Layarteb Defense Corporation has engineered an advanced LAW using gel fuel. The 78mm round is slightly heavier than the M72 but packs significantly more punch, having a top speed of some 2,500 feet per second, in comparison to the 950 of the AT4 and the 475 of the LAW. The M34 uses a pop-out launcher with iron sights and is fired from the shoulder. SLATDW stands for shoulder-launched, anti-tank, disposable weapon. It is pronounced SLATDOW.

M35 Light Machine Gun
The M35 is the newest light machine gun of the ILM. It is designed to replace the M240 and M60E3 on vehicles and in infantry as a 7.62 x 51mm cartridge. It will complement the 5.56 x 45mm M249 SAW and allow for extreme suppressive firepower on enemy positions with phenominal accuracy and little weight. The M35 allows for a high rate of fire with little wear and tear to the barrel. The light weight of the M35 allows it to be carried easily with a significant amount of ammunition. Like the M31, it incorporates a 5-round burst selector, semi-automatic fire, and fully automatic fire. The M35A2 incorporates the 5.56 x 45mm round seen in assault rifles. The M35A3 incorporates the 6.8 x 51mm LDC round.

OOC: For the M31, I would advise a 50, and even possibly 20-round box/belt. If all it has is those 250 round boxes, it's going to be a nightmare for the poor infantrymen carrying it. Also a bit of a pain in vehicle mountings.
The M34 is also a bit cheap. With the fue, smaller size,l and more powerful warhead, there should be a heck of a lot more than a $20 over the AT4.

The M31 isn't a crew served weapon. It's for vehicles only. Secondly, the rate of production on the M34 is massive and using advanced techniques it is much smaller than the M136 AT4, it's basically an improved LAW. It's fuel source is super cheap and unique to my country. The fuze isn't that expensive either, a standard delay fuze with some minor modifications.
Also the box design is unique in the folding and such. 250 round box isn't as big as one would think. But usually it carries a 70 round box rather than 250, that's just the max.
The box is like this. 15 across, 3 rows, 6 high. The dimensions are 9.50" w x 13.58" l x 3.94" h.

OOC: Okay, I'll accept that.
I assumed that since there was a listing for tripod, the M31 was also used as a manportable weapon. That's the only reason for such a thing to be there. And since you were so inclusive in everything else, it made little sense that there was only a 250 round box listed.
And for vehicles, the thing was that 500 rounds of HMG ammunition is quite a bit for most. You'll find that few have more than 300 rounds due to the space it takes up and lack of requirement for that much ammuniton.
The M34, I'll accept as well, though scaling it down means a more expensive warhead, not less so.

Well given the velocity of the M34, it needs a smaller warhead. Look at it's speed versus that of the AT4 and the LAW. The reason such high speed is obtained so quickly is that I used a gel-fuel, more or less a plasma, that was developed by my lead scientist. All my home-grown missiles use this fuel and it has done wonders. Also yes 500 rounds is a lot. Usually a vehicle will carry 500 ready and 500 stowed (2 more boxes). For vehicles that I have produced since the M31 came out, I make special allotments for up to 2,000 stowed rounds and 500 at the ready. It's hard to do but I never said my vehicles were spacious.
On the M31 take note of this:
Equippment Availabilities: None
That means nothing can be added to it and it is as is. Yes the picture shows a tripod and so does the pound listing but that's for vehicles. It's 140 lb. as is with another 65 lb. for the tripod. 205 lb. is WAY too much for crew served. If anyone made that crew served I'd laugh at them because a soldier carrying just the 140 lb. gun wouldn't be able to move let alone the guy with the tripod and the ammo. Besides, 15.5 x 115mm is just unnecessary for crew served. They carry the M35 7.62 x 51mm. If they really want heavy power I let them use the M2HB 12.7 x 99mm.

M36 Sniper Rifle
The M36 is an indigenously produced SR-160 Eagle, made by Witzgall. With a .2MOA, the M36, has an effective range of 1,015 meters with the 7.62 x 51mm round. The unique design of the M36 allows for even distribution of recoil effects and comes standard with a flash suppressor. A secondary sound suppressor can be fitted by unscrewing the standard suppressor. The sound suppressor also limits flash but adds additional weight to the front. The bipod allows for ease in firing when in the prone position and also takes some recoil effects. The bolt-action design allows for each round to be loaded exactly the same way as the previous, giving supreme accuracy in addition to efficiency. The A2 version offers the 8.60 x 70mm (.338 Lapua) round to the rifle with an effective range of 1,215 meters. To date, the M36A1 remains the primary service sniper rifle of the ILM and the A2 will add further capability to an already established and potent weapon. With the adoption of the M107A1 DMR to the Imperial Layartebian Military inventory, the M36 was further adapted to the M36A3, which provided a bolt-action alternative to the semi-automatic M107A1. The M36A3 fires the 7.80 x 63mm round of the M107A1 but with even greater accuracy due to its inherent design.

M44 Sniper Rifle
The M44 is an indigenously produced M-98 Apostle. The M-98 Apostle is a cross between a sniper rifle and an assault rifle. It has a large 10x telescopic sight but can also fire in semi-automatic mode and can be used as a standard infantry weapon, if need be. However, its intentional role is that of a marksman's rifle. It can be attached with numerous add-ons such as a suppressor or a bi-pod. Scopes are interchangable with various others in the world today. Relatively lightweight, the rifle is only 13.6 pounds. It boasts a 0.7MOA.

Then, the main rocket fires and drives the rocket into the target. During aiming, the Predator's inertial reference autopilot detects the angular motion of the target, and during flight the autopilot directs the missile to a position above the predicted target location. The SRAW is armed with a downward-firing top-attack warhead, which is activated by a dual-sensor [laser & magnetic] fuze in the missile's nose.

M54 Microgun
The M54 Microgun is a development of the Minigun. This weapon, firing 5.56 x 45mm ammunition offers significantly less recoil than the 7.62 x 51mm Minigun. In addition, it is much lighter and compact. The weapon is litterly worn on the body, when carried such. The ammunition feed system runs down the back and legs of the individual, providing significant flexibility. The battery pack is held in the center of the back and the weapon is firing from the hip. Individuals under 180 lb. and 6.00 ft. cannot use the system as it requires a certain amount of space and body mass to operate it. When used as a tripod, the weapon is supported by a two man crew who split the load: gun for one person and tripod and ammunition for another. In this case, ammunition is held in two 500-round cases. Vehicle mounting is done in much the same way, with 500-round cases. The recharable battery takes 15 minutes to fully recharge and one charge lasts for some 5,000 rounds. It is only meant to be used by elite forces and only in certain situations as it severely limits the individual carrying it. The selectable firemode for 400 rounds per minute and 1,200 rounds per minute support crew served. If the weapon is selected to 4,000 rounds per minute, it must be mounted on a tripod. 10,000 rounds per minute is only to be used while vehicle mounted.

M71 P90 Submachine Gun
The M71 is an indigenously produced P90 SMG. The M43 MP5 SMG, whilst a fine and excellent SMG for close quarters, fires only 9 x 19mm shells. The use of the M71 means the use of the devestating SS190 5.7 x 28mm round, which can pierced through 48 layers of kevlar at 200 meters. While the M43 is better for CQB where the threat of friendly fire is great, the use of the M71 can provide law enforcement and armored units with better protection against criminals and attackers. The M71 is a small, heavily loaded SMG that can fire upwards of 900 rounds per minute.

The rifle is bored to 5.56 x 45mm and is equipped with a rail system for mounting sights, optics, and other useful items that are necessary for any operator. The rifle is only available to SOF and BOF although some paratrooper units may carry it because of its compactness and lightweight, even though the M30A3 and M30A4 are lighter. The M73 Enhanced Carbine features a famous cold hammer forged barrel for the M73 in various lengths to include 10 and 14.5 and inches. Despite being larger than the M30 when folded and extended and having a smaller barrel, the M73 offers an advantage in its ability to much easily maintained and cleaned in harsher conditions.

M75 Submachine Gun
The M75 was built as a direct competitor to the M71 P90 SMG. The 4.6 x 30mm round of the M75 offers better range, faster velocity, and better penetration over the 5.8 x 28mm of the M71; however, it has less stopping power. With the advent of better body armor, weapons firing pistol rounds have become less effective, requiring more penetration capability. In light of this the 5.7 x 28mm and 4.6 x 30mm rounds were devised, each capable of defeating 48 layers of kevlar or more at 200 meters. The M75 is not standard issue and has not replaced either the M43 or M71 SMGs but is used only be certain, specific units.

M76 Tactical Shotgun
The M76 Tactical Shotgun is a new, lightweight, highly defensive shotgun manufactured by the LDC. It is a unique design meant to take into accoun the flaws of the M53 Shotgun and the M55 Automatic Shotgun, of which there were few. The M76 Tactical Shotgun offers an 18.00 inch barrel like the M53 and is only available in 12 gauge. It is made to fire both buckshot and high-powered slugs with extreme effectiveness. This seven-round magazine shotgun offers one round more than the M53 but one less than the M55; however, its accuracy is far greater than both, especially at longer ranges. Equipped with a Picatinny Rail system, the shotgun can mount sights, flashlights, lasers, and a whole host of other equipment. One of the greater features is a recoil reduction system, which is placed in the interior of the stock. The baffled tube holds 14 oz. of mercury, which raises the deltaT that the shot's impulse gets spread out over, thus lowering felt recoil. This means more accuracy and much quicker shots, especially in combat situations. Unlike the M53 and M55, the M76 has a far better corrosion resistance system and rated for marine environments for up to six weeks longer than both the M53 and M55. It is also far cheaper than either the M53 and M55 and rated for up to 25,000 rounds.

M78 Advanced Light Machine Gun
The M78 Advanced Light Machine Gun is a new development of an old design. The idea of a roller-locked bolt using two rollers allows for an extremely high rate of fire, higher than anything previously made. The M78 can spew fourth 1,500 rounds per minute, with excellent accuracy. Polymers and other advanced construction materials and methods have allowed for longer service life, fewer barrel changes, and lighter weight. The quick-change barrel allows for combat soldiers to remove and replace the barrel in 20% less time than any other weapon in service. An advanced handle, which does not conduct heat well allows for easy changing without risk. The M78 is available in both 7.62 x 51mm and 5.56 x 45mm though the latter is less likely to see major service. The M78 ALMG can be bipod mounted for better accuracy and can be mounted on vehicles as well, if necessary.

M79 Gatling Gun
The M79 Gatling Gun is an important addition to the ILM arsenal. Originally designed to be a downscaled M61A2 Vulcan, it was transformed into something very different. The gun is a three barrel, electrically driven weapon with a variable select, rate of fire. It can fire as many as 2,000 rounds per minute, which is nowhere near as much as the M61 Vulcan but for its uses it is phenomenal. The Gatling-type design allows for high rates of fire, little overheating, and dependability. The M79 is primarily used on naval vessels but the A3 version is used on helicopters with devestating accuracy.

M80 Assault Rifle / Urban Sniper Rifle
The M30 Assault Rifle was introduced in the early 1980s to replace aging M16 rifles. Unfortunately, the M30 Assault Rifle was originally a heavy and complex weapon and though it was released with both a carbine and an assault rifle, modifications had to be done to shave off a pound from each weapon. The M30 was also featured with an accurized sniper variant. However, the M30 Assault Rifle is aged and though effective, classic, and deadily, it is in need of a replacement. The M80 Assault Rifle, a modified Heckler & Koch SL-8, will fill that gap. Though a pound heavier than the M30 it makes up for it in sheer power. The M80, unlike the M30, is only offered in a single variant, with a 20.80" barrel, longer than the M16 and M30, giving it a range of 650 meters and a muzzle velocity around 907 meters per second. The M80 Assault Rifle is also the first rifle to featue the newly developed 6.8 x 51mm ammunition made by the Layartebian Defense Corporation. The round offers significantly more muzzle energy than the 5.56 x 45mm rounds therefore providing more stopping power without the recoil of the 7.62 x 51mm rounds. It also yaws and fragments in soft tissue like the 5.56 x 45mm round, although not as drastically. The M80 Assault Rifle is as modifiable as the M30 as the soldier can mount grenade launchers, shotguns, suppressors, bipods, optics, and so on and so fourth. However, unlike the M30, the standard clip size for the M80 is 45 rounds, in a double drum system, each drum holding up to 22 rounds with the 45th round loaded into the chamber. It can still mount the 100 round C-mag that was developed for the M30. The M80 is more accurate than the M30, easier to clean and repair in the field, has a longer service life, and is beginning to replace the M30A2 and M30A4 in the field. Retired M30A2 and M30A4 variants will be stored, recycled, redistributed to law enforcement, and sold for civilian use. The A2 version is an accurized sniper variant replacing the role that the M30A5 played. It features a better and long barrel to provide an effective range out to 900 meters. The A3 was developed as the "Urban Sniper Rifle (USR)." The program to create a short-range, reliable, and very potent sniper rifle for urban environments say many competitors but the A3, developed from teh Heckler & Koch SL-9SD was chosen over all other competitors, the M90 coming in second place. It uses a different bullet than the A1 and A2, the 7.62 x 37mm subsonic round developed from .300 Whisper. It features a sound suppressor and an aura signature of only 100dB, which is considerably quieter than the 6.8 x 51mm round. At 100 meters, it has a penetration of penetration of 3 class I bullet proof vests.

M81 Paratrooper / Marine Assault Rifle / Carbine
With the inception of the M80 Assault Rifle, the airborne units began to request their own specific rifle. The M81 Paratrooper Assault Rifle was born from this idea. The internal mechanisms of the M81 are almost identical to those of the M80 except the M81 uses a slightly shorter barrel. Externally, they are vastly different designs and the M81 features a folding, lightweight, open stock. The M81 also features a significantly more robust design. The M80, though rugged did not test as favorably in certain situations as would have been desired. These situations were the paratrooper type. The M81 corrects what limitations the M80 did have. The M81 features the Picatinny rail just like all Layartebian small arms. The Picatinny rail allows for expansion for laser sights, scope optics, flash lights, and so on and so fourth. M81 will be replacing M52 Carbines in paratrooper service to become the standard issue paratrooper rifle for the ILM. The A2 version is used by the Imperial Layartebian Marines and is very similar to the M81A1 except that it has more resistance to salt water. Like the M80 Assault Rifle, the M81 is chambered for 6.8 x 51mm rounds, the new standard issue round for the military. The A3 version is a carbine developed for Special Operations Forces.

M83 Shoulder Launched Multipurpose Weapon (SMAW)
The M83 SMAW is a three version weapon made to supplement the SLATDW. The SMAW is a shoulder launched weapon designed with three primary munitions. The first is a high-explosive, dual-purpose (HEDP) warhead capable of penetrating 200mm of concrete, 300mm of brick, and 2,100mm of wood-reinforced sandbags. The second is a high-explosive, anti-armor (HEAA) weapon capable of penetrating 560mm of RHA. The third is a thermobaric warhead, labelled as the novel explosive (NE) capable of destroying a room or area in the size of 15 x 15 meters and has even been known to collapse a building. There are three versions of the launcher, the A, which is reusable, the B, which is disposable, and the C, which is both disposable and safe for use in confined areas. The C version features no backblast, which allows it to be fired from rooms or other confined spaces, without harm to other soldiers. The backblast area of the SMAW-A and B is large. It is lethal in a 45° arc up to 30 meters and harmful out to 90° at 30 meters. The SMAW-C reduces this to zero, making it a very effective weapon. Both the SMAW-B and C use only the HEDP round while the SMAW-A can use all three of the rounds. The A weapon system utilizes a 9 x 51mm spotting round that is visible out to 500 meters. Six rounds are equipped to allow the operator to mark the target precisely. The disposable version is significantly less in weight and is more like the AT4 in its disposable features. It does not feature the spotting round and is labelled as the Bunker Defeat Munition for the SMAW-B, primarily named for its role. The weapon has an effective range against human sized targets of 250 meters and tank-sized targets of 500 meters. At 187 dB, the SMAW is one of the loudest weapon on the battlefield.

M84 Five-seveN Pistol
The M84 Five-seveN pistol is an idigenously produced, Fabrique Nationale Five-seveN pistol. It fires the devestating 5.7 x 28mm round, which can defeat up to 48 layers of kevlar at 200 meters, using the SS190 round out of the P90 and the same at 50 meters out of the Five-seveN. The M84 is a simple, delayed blowback pistol that is in limited use by military and law enforcement agencies. It does not have the same stopping power as larger calibers as even the 9 x 19mm has more stopping power. However, its ability to penetrate body armor is its biggest accomplishment and is mostly used by hard-strike units that take on well-equipped units of enemy soldiers.

M85 Heavy Cannon
The M85 Heavy Cannon is a 20 millimeter anti-aircraft cannon designed for usage on ships. Designed in the 1930s, the M85 Heavy Cannon has a powerful hitting capability. It uses a gas blowback design to achieve rates of fire of 600 rpm and with an effective range of 4.5 kilometers and a 4.0 kilometer effective altitude. The M85, though designed to engage enemy aircraft, is highly capable at engaging surface targets as well, particularly light patrol craft, making it an ideal weapon for shore defense. The cannon is pedestal mounted and weighs one ton in full making it a static defense position. It is usually operated by two people, one gunner and one loader.

M87 Multiple Grenade Launcher (MGL)
The M87 MGL is a semi-automatic, grenade launcher that provides increased range, firepower, accuracy, and capability over the standard 40mm grenade launchers already in service with the ILM. It is not intended to replace the M48 Grenade Launcher, which can be fitted to assault rifles but rather to add "light artillery" to a fireteam. It is based on the M32 Multiple Grenade Launcher, which is, in turn, based on the MGL and MGL Mk-1, both constructed in South Africa. The M87 can accommodate any type of 40 x 46mm round already in service but can also carry new, specially designed 40mm rounds that are 40 x 110mm and they include high-explosive, blast-fragmentation, illumination, camera, and various other rounds. It can fire up to 2 rounds per second with 18 rounds per minute in sustained fire and it can blanket an area 20 x 60 meters in size in one salvo. It has a minimum range of 30 meters and a maximum range of 400 meters. Some of the various rounds include the HELLHOUND series, which features the 110mm grenades, which offer HE multipurpose, Blast multipurpose, and Recon/Video Imaging. The former two are capable of piercing 90 and 65mm of mild steel, respectively and provide lethal antipersonnel fragmentation out to 12 meters, with a casualty producing radius of over 50 meters. The Recon/Video Imaging device is deployed up to 700 feet in the air and floats down via parachute and can provide video feed for up to 1,500 meters. Other rounds include flares, IR illumination rounds, CS gas, and the standard 40 x 46mm rounds.

Why are you keeping weapons in service which use such different calibers yet perform the same role. For example you have at least 7 different pistol cartridges, 2 different heavy machine gun cartridges and at least 4 different assault rifle cartridges in use. Doesn't this complicate your supply lines unnecessarily?

Well basically the M80 and M81 are the standard assault rifles in service right now. They use the 6.8 x 51mm round. The pistol that is in service is the M77 TAP or M84 Storm with .43LDC round. The other items say that they are "in-service" but they aren't on the front lines. The whole military basically uses the 6.8mm round for assault rifles, .43LDC for pistols, 7.62 x 51mm for sniper and machine guns, along with 8.6 x 70mm for sniper, and the 12.7 x 99mm and 15.5 x 115mm rounds for heavy hitting. We have countless 5.56 x 45mm rounds stockpiled so we still have the M30s and stuff lying around in stockpile but they really aren't used except for a few SOF and BOF and rarely at that. The 6.8mm round is far superior to the 5.56mm round.
Law enforcement also uses military weapons (i.e. SMGs and pistols). SWAT uses ARs and stuff from the mil as well.

M88 Advanced Rotary Cannon (ARC)
Though the M79A3 Gatling Gun was designed to provide attack helicopters with a powerful, efficient, and highly reliable gun system, it proved to be ineffective against medium or heavily armored vehicles, despite the power of its 15.5 x 115mm bullets. The M88 ARC is a 20 x 139mm Gatling gun that is extremely light-weight with a selectable rate of fire of 750, 1,500, 3,000, 4,500, or 6,000 rounds per minute. It is incredibly accurate and it is designed to be retractable into a gun bay, if the option is available. It is the lighest 20mm Gatling gun in the world and allows for impeccable accuracy up to 2.5 kilometers and it is rated for 50,000 rounds. It has also been mated with aircraft such as the F-20A Tigershark and can be used on fixed-wing aircraft as easily as rotary-wing.

M89 Battle Rifle
The M89 Battle Rifle is an update to the Vietnam-era M14 Rifle. It features an improved barrel and offers a harder-hitting round than the 6.8 x 51mm used in primary assault rifles of the ILM. It is designed more for SOF than regular infantry but can be used by regular infantry. It features a rail system on the top and bottom to allow for the fitting of various modifications. There is also the A2, which is a marksman rifle, modified for sniper duties only and features a match-grade barrel, fiberglass stock with a pistol grip, and a threaded muzzle brake like the A1 version, which can fit a suppressor. The A2 also features a bipod automatically. The A3 is an SOF modification called the Enhanced Battle Rifle (EBR), which is a tactical version.

M90 Silenced Tactical Assault Rifle (STAR)
Modelled after the AS Val and VSS Vintorez, the M90 Silenced Tactical Assault Rifle, STAR for short, was adopted specifically for the purposes of "commandos." Originally developed by the 5th Special Operations Group, "Green Berets," the M90 became a realization when it was finally perfected. The history of the weapon goes back to the earliest days of the Empire, when captured AS and VSS weapons were used by special forces against rebels in South America and Central America. By 1989, the M90 had been developed but not adopted yet. It featured a longer, heavier, faster bullet than the 9 x 39mm rounds used in the AS and VSS but the bullet remained subsonic, making it completely silent. As with the AS and VSS, the only sounds is the clicking of the bolt as the rounds are fired from its barrel. The weapon is rated up to an altitude of 22,500 feet, which gives it a great advantage in mountain fighting. Altitudes in excess of 13,500 feet generally require oxygen and few mountain fights occur even that high. The weapon can fire both ball and armor piercing rounds, the latter of which can defeat most body armor at ranges of 100 meters or more. Like the AS, the M90 features a folding buttstock to make it lighter and easier to carry and it features a Picatinny rail system that allows it to fit most modifications and accessories available to assault rifles. It is generally not seen without some form of optics, particularly ACOG 4x and M68 Aimpoint scopes. It does not fit a suppressor since the weapon is "silent," in the truest respect.

9x39mm Russian round does it at 280m/s. My round is bigger and heavier and has more energy and the AP round is made of the same material as the 5.7x28mm round.

Don't know what you want me to tell you except that I'm just going by what they say about the 9x39mm bullet and the AP version of this is manufactured more like the 5.7x28mm AP round. I'm not saying it'll defeat all body armor just most, which is so vague it isn't funny.
The SP-6 cartridge featured an armour-piercing bullet with hardened steel core, which could defeat typical military type body armour at the ranges of up to 300-400 meters.

I'm sure in 1983 "typical military type body armour" was not near the level it is today.
The 5.7mm round works on a principle of high velocity and its muzzle velocity is least 700 m/s.
I hate to nitpick... well no i really do enjoy nit picking but it just kinda stands out as a weird claim.

Alright the 9x39mm punches through 8mm of steel @ 100m, 2mm @ 400m. It can defeat II & III vests at 400 meters. I'm not claiming against against heavy body armor nor am I claiming it is the same as the 5.7mm round only that it's manufactured like it, (i.e. similar in material and shape).

M91 Heavy Machine Gun
The M91 Heavy Machine Gun is a system that shares elements of both the M50 HMG and the M31 HMG. Designed, originally, to be more portable than the M50 HMG, the M91 turned out to be just over half the weight of the M50 with its tripod. Like the M31, it features a dual-feed system and can be man-portable and mounted on vehicles, primarily Dingos and Bushmasters. It features a tri-option trigger with semi-automatic, burst, and automatic. The weapon can also allow the gunner to select whether or not to use just one feed or both, in which case, the burst option would fire just two rounds, from the selected feed system or four, if both are selected, providing an intense amount of firepower. There is also a highly unique firing function that was utilized on the AN-94 Abakan. When the bolt-carrier is driven backwards by the force of the gas from the cartridge, a pulley activates a cartridge-feeding device. This mechanism allows a much higher rate of fire than would otherwise be possible, sending both rounds out at a rate of 1,800 rounds per minute on the AN-94. Featured on the M91, it is much slower but can place both rounds on the target only millimeters behind each other. When employed in burst or automatic mode, this system is employed, allowing the first two or four shots, depending on the feed mechanism setting, to be placed just behind each other. While the AN-94 system is effective for body armor, the 12.7 x 99mm round of the M91 does it more to defeat light armor on vehicles rather than body armor, which cannot stop the round, regardless of its rate of fire. It is slightly longer than the M50 but features the same barrel size and a quick changeable assembly for the barrel, allowing operators greater ease in combat situations.

M92 Bushmaster Chain Gun
Originally designated the M242 Bushmaster, under a reorganization of the weaponry, it was given a new classification, the M92 Bushmaster. It is available in three variants, firing the 25 x 137mm (Bushmaster), the 30 x 173mm (Bushmaster II), and the newer 35 x 228mm (Bushmaster III). Combined into a single unit, the weapon system has devestating potential. The Bushmaster was first developed during the 1970s and deployed in the early 1980s, the Bushmaster became one of the hardest hitting main guns available for fighting vehicles. With a rate of fire over 200 rounds per minute and an effective range of 2 kilometers, the Bushmaster became a killer. Its armor piercing, depleted uranium bullets were known to pierce through the rear armor of the M1A2 Abrams and other armored vehicles. As it upgunned to 30 x 173mm, its capabilities only continued to grow. With the advent of the 35mm and 50 caliber Bushmaster III, it maintains the potential to destroy anything short of a main battle tank with its ultra-powerful and hard-hitting rounds. It features a chrome-lined barrel for extended shelf-life, a highly efficient muzzle brake, and various other systems that allow it to destroy its targets with a single, 1.0 hp DC motor. The latest version, the C, carries the ability to use a 50 x 330mm "Supershot" round, which takes up the same space as the 35 x 228mm round. This can be done by changing the barrel and a few components. The B version can also fire the Super Forty, which is 40 x 173mm with a similar set of modifications. The components between all three versions are highly similar making them extremely logistically friendly and can fire in all weather and temperature ranges, as well as enviornments. The motor drive system on all versions only use 24 volts. At 1,500 meters, the 50x330mm round will penetrate 50mm of RHA up to 96% of the time, 77% for the 35mm, 70% for the Super Forty, and 60% for the 30mm.

M93 Light Mortar
The M93 Light Mortar is simply a redesignated M224 Light Mortar that was designed in the late 1970s to fire 60mm mortar projectiles. Lightweight and compact it is excellent for crew-served light artillery and is a fan favorite amongst special operations detachments. The M93 Light Mortar has an effective range of 3,500 meters and a minimum range of just 70 meters making it an excellent weapon to target hidden enemy positions that light sniper rifles cannot engage due to range. It fires five types of rounds: high-explosive, white posphorous, illumination, thermobaric, and IR illumination. Its fuses allow the high-explosive rounds to be detonated as proximity burst, near-surface burst, impact burst, or delay burst, making them highly effective against both dug-in and exposed enemy positions. In proximity burst, the round can explode 3 - 13 feet in the air. In near-surface burst it can explode 0 - 3 feet from the ground. Impact burst explodes on contact and delay burst explodes 0.5 seconds after impact. With a maximum rate of fire of 30 rounds per minute with 20 rounds per minute sustained, the M93 can effectively turn the tides of a simple infantry battle in favor of the ILM. The cooling fins at the base of the mortar allow the high rate of fire to be maintained for long periods. Handled by a three man crew, the mortar can be used effectively by trained soldiers, who can, in the best of scenarios, put 15 - 20 rounds in the air before the first one ever impacts. The A2 version is for internal usage inside of fighting vehicles and tanks. It is lighter since it does not need the sight unit but is not overly different.

M94 Medium Mortar
The M94 Medium Mortar is simply a redesignated M252 Medium Mortar that was designed in the late 1980s to fire 81mm mortar projectiles. It is much heavier than the M93 but it makes up for it in increased maximum range and firepower. It retains the 70 meter minimum range but extends its maximum range out to 5,675 meters. With a maximum rate of fire of 30 rounds for two minutes and 15 rounds per minute sustained, the M94 can provide further artillery like the M93 for indefinite amounts of time that could turn the tide of a battle. It fires five types of rounds: high-explosive, white posphorous, illumination, thermobaric, and IR illumination. Handled by a five man crew, the mortar can be used effectively by trained soldiers, who can, in the best of scenarios, put multiple rounds in the air before the first one ever impacts. HE rounds have a bursting radius of some 40 meters. The A2 version is for internal usage inside of fighting vehicles and tanks. It is lighter since it does not need the sight unit but is not overly different.

M95 Heavy Mortar
The M95 Heavy Mortar is simply a redesignated M120 Heavy Mortar that was designed in the early 1990s to fire 120mm mortar projectiles. It is significantly heavier than both the M93 and M94 and requires transportation on vehicles due to its size and weight. However, it is significantly lighter than an artillery piece and, in the hands of an experienced group of soldiers, can be as effective, within its range envelope. It has a minimum range of 200 meters but a maximum range of 7,500 meters, which goes far beyond the M94 Medium Mortar. Like the M94 it can be fielded by just five men in the crew-served position and less when it is mounted on a vehicle as a primary weapon. It features the multipurpose fuse seen on the M93 and M94 allowing the high-explosive rounds to be detonated as proximity burst, near-surface burst, impact burst, or delay burst, making them highly effective against both dug-in and exposed enemy positions. In proximity burst, the round can explode 3 - 13 feet in the air. In near-surface burst it can explode 0 - 3 feet from the ground. Impact burst explodes on contact and delay burst explodes 0.5 seconds after impact. With a maximum rate of fire of 16 rounds for the first minutes and 4 rounds per minute sustained, the M95 can provide a high volume of fire in a short amount of time, of which multiple rounds can be put in the air before the first one lands. It fires eight types of rounds: high-explosive, white posphorous, illumination, thermobaric, submunition, guided, gas, and IR illumination. HE rounds have a bursting radius of some 75 meters. With precision guided munitions its range can extend out to 15 kilometers. The A2 version is for internal usage inside of fighting vehicles and tanks. It is lighter since it does not need the sight unit but is not overly different.

M96 Vesper
In 1999, following the withdrawal of both Layartebian forces and governmental officials from Kaliningrad in 1995 and the subsequent airline hijacking in 1998, the Imperial Layartebian Military formed the "Layartebian Foreign Legion." With the possibility of Kaliningradian terrorism on the horizon, the Ministry of Defense wanted a foreign based force to fight against Kaliningradian terrorists outside of the borders of the Empire. The Layartebian people would find any war or engagement that involved Kaliningrad to be massively unpopular, akin to how Venezuela was viewed in the 1970s. Therefore, the government needed to distance itself from any war or entanglement relating to Kaliningrad. However, the Foreign Legion force would need to use dedicated weaponry. The most obvious necessity would be an assault rifle. When the ILM moved to the 6.8 x 51mm weaponry of the M80 and M81, the Foreign Legion found itself without an adequate weapon. As all 5.56 x 45mm weapons were retired, the Foreign Legion needed a new service rifle that was still 5.56 x 45mm. It eventually came to bear in the FX-05 Xiuhcoatl (Fire Serpent), which was based off the G36V. The success that the M52 Carbine had was used as a model for the M96 Vesper. In addition, the success that the M73 Enhanced Carbine had with SOF and paratroopers weighed heavily into the equation and thus a Heckler & Koch design was picked. The result was the M96 Vesper, a high-powered, deadly accurate, and inexpensive assault rifle. The result of the M96 Vesper was a highly capable and cheap rifle that costs just $650.00 each, when produced in quantity. With an effective sighting range of 1,000 meters and an effective range of 800 meters, the M96 Vesper is limited only by its ammunition. When fitted with a suppressor, a bipod, and a scope, the Vesper can be an effective counter-sniper weapon. Equipped with a Picatinny rail, the M96 Vesper can mount lasers, flashlights, a variety of scopes, a front-handle, and a grenade launcher. It also can have a quick-attach suppressor fitted onto its threaded barrel. With a muzzle velocity of 920 meters per second, the M96 Vesper, when equipped wit armor piercing rounds, can penetrate up to 6 millimeters of RHA or 15 to 20 inches of soft tissue. However, at impact velocities above roughly 820 mps, it may yaw and then fragment at the cannelure (the groove around the cylinder of the bullet). The newest rounds include a tungsten core, which is a special penetrator. It normally uses the 62 grain projectiles but can use "Match" 77 grain projectiles.

M97 UMP
The M97 UMP is an indigenously designed UMP. It is originally only available in the .45ACP caliber but .43LDC, 9mm, and .40SW versions are currently available. The UMP was designed as a counterpart to the M43 Submachine Gun. The M97, when firing a .45ACP round carries more energy than a 9x19mm out of an M43 and has the same effective range. With a high rate of fire and the usage of pistol rounds, the UMP makes for an excellent close quarters weapon that is quite popular with with SWAT and Special Operations Forces. Though initially expensive, each UMP is rated for up to 100,000 rounds and it is fitted with a Picatinny rail, allowing it to mount many types of add-ons to increase the effectiveness of the weapon.

M98 Stinger
The M98 Stinger is not an indigenous design by the Layartebian Defense Corporation. Instead it is a foreign design, purchased through Manchurian Global. The M98 Stinger is the Layartebian designation for the AD-142 Yastreb, a highly capable and powerful Russian-built assault rifle. A bullpup design firing the 7.62 x 39mm round, the M98A1 Stinger has many irrefutable features that make it among the better assault rifles in the world. With an effective range of 650 meters and an advanced two-round burst that can place two rounds just millimeters apart from each other, the M98A1 can effectively defeat most body armor with a single burst. When fired at automatic rates, it can fire up to 680 rounds per minute and can mount up to 60 rounds in a drum configuration. When equipped with Wolfram ammunition, the Stinger is far more capable. The AD-142SV Voron, a sniper version, is designated as the M98A2. It uses the 7.62 x 54mm bullet, which offers advanced range and accuracy out to 850 meters and it keeps the 2-round burst of the A1. The AD-142K Grach is designated as the M98A3. It is a carbine version that fires the 5.45 x 39mm round, which has a higher muzzle velocity than the 7.62 x 39mm and 7.62 x 54mm rounds but does not pack as much punch. It is; however, highly accurate and stable, especially at close ranges, where it tends to yaw in soft tissue, creating terrible wounding potential, like the 5.56 x 45mm round. The AD-142SK Dyatel is a silenced version that features the 9 x 39mm round, which is subsonic. It has a short range but is entirely silent and highly accurate. The M98 Stinger is not in active service but rather in service with the Layartebian Foreign Legion, just like the M96 Vesper. It's service is limited and only 12,500 examples of the A1 and A3 version exist as well as 2,500 examples of the A2 and A4 versions.

M99 Advanced Special Applications Carbine (ASAC)
Like the M98 Stinger, the M99 Advanced Special Applications Carbine (ASAC) is not an indigenous design. Originally designated as the DR-87 and produced by the Imperium Doomanum, the DR-87L became the M99A1 in Layartebian service. Used primarily by the Layartebian Foreign Legion, it is available only in 5.56 x 45mm and is more than capable. As a carbine it is highly advanced and highly accurate. Fitted with a Picatinny rail, the M99 ASAC can mount a variety of tools ranging from scopes to IR lasers. With a collapsible stock, the M99 ASAC provides for an extremely versatile weapon that is excellent in CQB situations and scenarios. Unlike most Layartebian rifles though, the M99 uses a firing mechanism similar to that of the AK-47, which is not reliant on a tight fit with the bolt group. Rather, it uses rails along with irs recoil spring guide rod and short stroke piston to help keep the carrier in line, while leaving ample room for debris to fall. An adjustable gas regulator also allows for the rate of fire of the weapon to be adjusted. The barrel itself is free floating, allowing for even greater accuracy. In order to compensate for recoil as well as reducing muzzle climb, the barrel is fitted with an advanced muzzle brake/flash suppressor. While this does increase the sound produced when firing the weapon, this is traded off with vastly reduced muzzle climb and lessened recoil, as well as a highly reduced muzzle flash. While the weapon is generally issued with a muzzle brake, the barrel itself is threaded, allowing for the shooter to swap it out with a variety of other accesories, such as flash or sound suppresors. In testing, over 10,000 rounds were fired before any failure, making it one of the most reliable rifles available. The buttstock features a rubber recoil pad, further cushioning the shooter from felt recoil. This weapon is in service only with the Foreign Legion and with "insurgent forces." The M99A2 replaced the A1 as the Foreign Legion adopted the Doomingsland 6.7 x 53mm cartridge.

M100 Outbreak
The M100 Outbreak is an advanced design sniper rifle. The original purpose of the M100 was to provide a sniper rifle that provided the accuracy of both the 7.62 x 51mm and the 8.6 x 70mm but with the power of the 12.7 x 99mm. In order to provide this kind of power, the Layartebian Defense Corporation had to look at a new caliber bullet, something larger than the 8.6 x 70mm but not as large as the 12.7 x 99mm. The result was the 10.36 x 77mm bullet, more commonly referred to as .408. The weapon system began with designing the bullet and working its way up from there. The goal was to create a bullet that was smaller than the 12.7 x 99mm with more energy without forfeiting range. The .408 round was just that and met expectations beyond what was originally desired. Supersonic out past 2,011 meters, the .408 round carries more energy than the 12.7 x 99mm bullet at ranges exceeding 450 meters and at a range of 2,286 meters, it arrives 1.5 seconds faster than the 12.7 x 99mm. From the very beginning, the 419 grain projectile of the .408 holds a higher velocity and can penetrate a 1/2" steel plate at 595 meters better than a 12.7 x 99mm and continue to penetrate said plate at distances of up to 869 meters and continue to penetrate steel plates at distances of up to 2,313 meters. The 419 grain projectils is a very low drag projectile, making it ideal for sniper situations. The entire system is capable of delivering sub-MOA accuracy at the ranges of up to 2,270 meters, one of the longest ranges of all modern-day sniper rifles.
The M100 Outbreak rifle is built with several things in mind. The first is weight. The problems with .50BMG rifles is that they are excessively heavy for combat and their rounds are heavy. The M100 is up to 12.50 pounds lighter than the M38 with better performance at longer ranges. It carries 7 rounds per magazine and it includes a suppressor, which adds an additional 8 to 9 mps of muzzle velocity and completely eliminates muzzle flash while reducing sound and recoil. This added additional makes the M100 more manageable and easier to use on the operator than the M38. The M100 also has enough power to penetrate advanced body armor at ranges in excess of 2,000 meters on the first shot. Equipped with a 30" barrel, the M100 weighs just 27 pounds empty with a stainless steel barrel or 24 pounds with a carbon fiber barrel. The addition of a stainless steel barrel extends the life of the rifle far beyond that of most sniper rifles. The use of a bolt-action system makes the rifle extremely accurate since each and every shot are loaded in the exact same way. The use of a retractable stock makes the rifle easy to carry. The rifle is designed without iron sights making the necessity for a scope important for operation of the rifle. It is equipped with a Picatinny rail. At a cost of $6,400 it is an expensive rifle but well worth it.

M101 Collapsable Lightweight Attack Weapon (CLAW)
The M101 CLAW was developed following the retirement of the M34 SLATDW. However, it took on an extraordinarily long development time due to the advances in the SMAW, especially the SMAW-CS. The SLATDW, which could penetrate up to 800mm of RHA was useless against tanks that employed ERA. Likewise, the SRAW would not be useful against ERA but used a top-dive attack method to destroy even the most capable tanks. The Javelin was considered too bulky and heavy to be carried by all forces, especially SOF and paratroopers. The SMAW with the HEAA rocket could only penetrate 560mm of RHA but once again, not penetrate through ERA. The goal was, therefore, to create a lightweight, anti-tank rocket with the abilitiy to penetrate through ERA by using a tandem HEAT warhead. The M101 further developed using the capabilities on the SMAW-CS to eliminate backblast, allowing it to be used in all situations, including out of windows and in dense urban environments. The use of countermass gel reduces the over blast, backblast, debris, and noise. It also ensures a low launch signature, so a soldier's position remains concealed. The CLAW uses the Davis Gun Counter-Mass principle to maintain projectile velocity while providing low visual signature for soldiers safely fire from and enclosure. A Davis Gun is a recoilless gun that functions on the momentum exchange principle, firing the projectile and a reaction mass from both ends of the barrel at the same time. A projectile is fired toward the front and a compensating mass toward the rear from an equal-caliber barrel open on both ends. The axial forces are transmitted to the gun only by friction of the projectile and/or the compensating mass on the inner wall of the barrel; propellant gas forces in this case do not contribute toward recoil during firing, and the friction forces can be kept lower by several orders of magnitude than the propellant gas forces, while the friction forces of the projectile and of the compensating mass, at least in part, compensate each other. For this reason, the so-called "Davis gun" is an essentially recoilless gun. Testing of the M101 CLAW revealed that it could penetrate at least 500mm of RHA after ERA effects. The CLAW has a minimum range of 10 - 15 meters, depending on the situation and has a maximum ballistic range of 1,000 meters. Against tank-sized targets is up to 500 meters and, against individual sized targets, it is 300 meters. It can penetrate 1,000mm of concrete or 1,200mm of brick.

M102 Recoilless Rifle
The M102 Recoilless Rifle is a 84mm weapon designed to allow infantry to carry a heavy weapon for defeating the most stubborn enemy combatants while providing them with a great deal of maneuverability. The 84mm recoilless rifle is modelled around the M3 Carl Gustav rifle. Its rounds allow it to undertake a variety of roles from anti-tank, bunker busting, support, cover, and pure destruction. The primary round is the HEAT round, which can effectively knock out 90% of tanks at a range of 700 meters [stationary targets] and 300 meters [mobile targets]. The HEAT round is capable of attacking bunkers, landing craft, and even aircraft. It can penetrate 400mm of RHA and each round weighs 7.05 lb. and has a maximum muzzle velocity of 255 meters per second. It's maximum velocity is 339 meters per second, after a mid-flight rocket fires to give extra kinetic energy. It is fully armed within 15 meters. There is also a tandem warhead HEAT round, aimed at defeating tanks with ERA. Each round weighs 8.38 lb. and has a muzzle velocity of 210 meters per second with a flight velocity of 336 meters per second. The round can effectively penetrate through 500mm of RHA after ERA effects at ranges of up to 600 meters. The second most common round is the HEDP, a multipurpose round for all environments. The round weighs 7.28 lb. and its effective range is 1,000 meters against broad soft targets such as infantry in the open, 500 meters against stationary targets, and 300 meters against moving targets. It can penetrate through 150mm of RHA but is less suited for the anti-tank role than the HEAT round is. The classic, straight HE round weighs in at 7.05 lb. and has a range of 1,250 meters on airburst mode and 1,300 meters on impact mode. Unlike the other rounds, it is armed after 20 meters. The illumination round provides 650,000 candle power and can be used between an envelope of 300 to 2,100 meters and can provide for up to 30 seconds of illumination over an area as wide as 500 meters. It weighs 6.83 lb. The 6.83 lb. smoke round provides a maximum range of up to 1,300 meters and can lay a smokescreen large enough to shield several armored vehicles. There is also a close combat round, which is filled with 1,100 flechettes with an effective range of 100 meters. The round weighs 5.95 lb. and can cover an area 10 to 12 meters wide at 100 meters. The M102 provides extra firepower and only requires a two man team, although it can be used by one person. The standard sight includes 3x magnification with a laser rangefinder and image intensification system. When equipped with a bipod it is highly accurate but, regardless of scenario, has a deadly backblast area.

M103 Shotgun
The M103 Shotgun was not designed to be a combat weapon. Originally, it was designed as a recreational shotgun, to be used by officers while hunting. It provides excellent accuracy, power, and quality. It is a breech loaded, double-barrel weapon that can fire one or two projectiles at once. Due to the powerful effects of firing two rounds at once, it is more limited to single-shot fire. It is a 12 gauge weapon and, as such, it can fire either slug or buckshot ammunition. Spent shells are not ejected automatically but due to its design, removing spent shells is simple. The M103 proved very popular with generals and other senior officers on hunting trips and it was kept in service as a military designation, despite first entering service in early 1983.

M104 Tactical Rifle
Like the M99, the Layartebian Foreign Legion sought out an advanced and highly capable tactical rifle. The adoption of the Doomingsland 6.70 x 53mm cartridge by the Foreign Legion prematurely retired the M96 Vesper, a highly advanced 5.56mm tactical rifle. However, the success of the DDI M99 made certain that the Foreign Legion would look again to DDI for its tactical rifle. The result was the M104 Tactical Rifle, which was developed as the DR-83.II rifle by the Doomingsland Defense Industries. The DR-83.II differed from its predecessor, the DR-83 by adding a slightly longer barrel, giving it better performance at medium ranges. Despite the longer barrel, the DR-83.II is not a cumbersome weapon.

M105 Tactical Defense Pistol
The M105 Tactical Defense Pistol was ordered by the Foreign Legion for standard issue service. It is the TDX .40 Caliber Standard Issue Sidearm, manufactured by DDI. The weapon fires a specific, .40 caliber round, developed by DDI with the ability to do as much damage as the 10mm Auto round, which packs significantly more punch than the .40SW round, which is highly popular with both law enforcement and military forces. The move away from the powerful and coveted .45ACP round that the Foreign Legion previously held as its standard was met with heavy criticism and a significant amount of resistance but, overall, the adoption was liked following its performance. The round remains a extremely high rate of accuracy and penetration power. The weapon features a 2.75" piccatiny rail machined into the frame for the mounting of accessories, such as flashlights and lasers, including the Luminus LI-XVIIA tactical flashlight/laser system, featuring both six individual high-strength LED bulbs with a combined output of 120 lumens surrounding a high-powered green tactical laser. The TDP is double/single action. This means that the first pull of the trigger (if the hammer is down; after pulling back the slide and chambering a round the hammer should be up, but shooters often choose to carry with the hammer down for safety reasons) is double action: it performs the actions of pulling back the hammer and dropping it, setting off the round. After this first round the hammer will stay back; thus all following pulls of the trigger are in single action. The M105A1 was selected as the standard issue sidearm of the Imperial Layartebian Military after the early retirement of the .43LDC round, which was considered less effective, in overall performance, than the 10mm Auto round. The 10mm DDI round was chosen as its successor.

M106 Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW)
The M106 SAW is a weapon that is specific to the Foreign Legion. Like the other standard issue weapons, the M106 uses the 6.7 x 53mm round and is produced by the DDI as the DMG-83. The M106 features a long effective range with a high rate of fire. It is much like the M42 SAW in that it can only alternate between safe and automatic fire. It features a large magazine of 200 rounds and a highly advanced stock, which makes the weapon more managable than many rifles. Its unique design allows for slight adjustments and significant recoil absorption, allowing gunners to maintain accuracy even while standing. Like other weapons designed by the DDI, it features an extremely long service life and a significantly low rate of jam, which allows it unsurpassed performance over 5.56mm weapons. After careful evaluation, the M106A2 SAW, chambered for 6.8 x 51mm was chosen as the standard squad light machine gun over an upgrade to the already venerable M42 SAW. The M106A2 SAW is identical to the M106A1 except for some minor adjustments to the barrel diameter, which was required to incorporate the slightly wider 6.8mm LDC round. In addition, the chamber was modified slightly to allow for a slightly smaller overall round. Due to the closeness of the DDI and the LDC rounds, the modifications had marginal cost implications as well as performance implications. The A3 is an A2 modified with a new trigger group to allow for semi-automatic fire.

M107 Designated Marksman Rifle
The M107 DMR was bought from the DDI following the adoption of new firearms of the Foreign Legion. The Foreign Legion originally used several different versions of sniper rifles that used various calibers: 7.62 x 51mm, 8.60 x 70mm, and 12.7 x 99mm. The adoption of the DRS-83 as the M107 DMR and its powerful 7.8 x 63mm round allowed the Foreign Legion even more power and accuracy, especially at long ranges. However, unlike bolt-action rifles, the DMR is a semi-automatic weapon. It was developed from the DR-83 and, as such, it has the same degree of accuracy and reliability that the DR-83 had.

M108 Advanced Breaching Carbine
The M108 Advanced Breaching Carbine (ABC) is a small weapon, designed to provide accurate and heavy firepower to an assault or breaching team. It was designed around the Beretta Cx4 Storm, a development that far surpassed market technology and capability. Designed with the idea that soldiers using it would also be carrying pistols, the ABC is compliant with magazines from both the M82 Storm and the M105 Tactical Defense Pistol and can fire in four calibers, depending on the version. It is accurate to within 100 meters, giving it nearly quadruple the effective range of a pistol and offering more rounds as well, depending on the variant. The M108 ABC is designed with a Picatinny rail so that users can mount scopes, flashlights or laser sights, front handles, or various other equipment. The weapon is capable of mounting a suppressor to its barrel.

M109 Advanced Combat Shotgun
Originally designed as a replacement for the M76 Tactical Shotgun, the M109 Advanced Combat Shotgun became more valuable as a simple supplement to the already proven and amazingly reliable and accurate M76. The ACS, modelled on the Benelli M4 Super 90, is a gas operated, semi-automatic weapon with low recoil. It uses two stainless-steel self-cleaning pistons located just ahead of the chamber to function opposite the rotating bolt, thereby eliminating the need for the complex mechanisms found on other gas-actuated automatics, which makes for better field cleaning and longer life. It features a collapsable buttstock that shortens the overall length of the weapon by 5 inches. It features a Picatinny rail, built into the top of the shotgun accepts scopes, laser illuminators, night-vision sights, and flashlights. It can reliably function for at least 25,000 rounds without replacement of any major parts. Accurate to 50 meters with "00" buckshot and up to 125 meters with a Magnum slug, the M109 is extremely devestating in combat.

M110 Pistol
Though originally intended to serve as the standard sidearm for the Imperial Layartebian Military, the M110 lost out in competition to the M105 TDP. Nevertheless, development continued and the M110 has been adopted by many law enforcement agencies throughout the Empire of Layarteb. The pistol is available in the most popular police rounds: 9 x 19mm, .357SIG, .40SW, and .45ACP. The weapon is built on a polymer frame with an embedded steel chassis, providing a significant amount of support for it. It is ambidextrous and is equipped with a grip mounted visible laser made by Crimson Trace. The small laser adds very little weight and is powered by a pair of lithium batteries that can provide a five-year shelf life or four hours of continuous use. It provides a dot that is one half inch in diameter at a range of 50 feet. The pistol also comes with a forward rail system to allow for the mounting of flashlights and the barrel is threaded for suppressors. The weapon barrel is rated for 30,000 rounds while the remainder of the weapon has a very long life rating. Torture testing on the weapon did not begin until it had 20,000 rounds through it, after which it performed as excellently as the M77 TAP did, earning it the right to replace the M77 in many law enforcement agencies. The Central Justice Agency is currently undergoing testing of the weapon to replace it completely in their services, which would see an end to the M33 Pistol in all respects of Layartebian service.

M111 Modular Assault Weapon
The M111 MAW is based wholly on the E19 series Modular Assault Rifle, which was purchased from Central Prestonia's Republic Defense Industries for $2.5 million. The weapon was engineered further by the Layartebian Defense Corporation to incorporate and accept the standard issue, Layartebian 6.8 x 51mm round, adapted from the 7.62 x 51mm NATO round. Necked down, the 6.8 x 51mm round offers superior energy and ballistics performance to the venerable 5.56 x 45mm round and offers a much more controllable round than the 7.62 x 51mm. The E19 came in three variants: assault rifle, carbine, and special forces carbine. With four available barrel options, the E19 quickly became an engineers favorite due to its impressive interchangability. With production rights secured and the proper blue prints achieved, the Layartebian Defense Corporation quickly began to work on the newer variant. Already accepting the 6.7 x 53mm Doomani round, the E19 could be easily adapted for the Layartebian round simply by changing the dimensions of the barrel and of the chamber. Done quickly and with relative ease, the E19 quickly became the M111. Although a candidate for standard service, it was not fully adopted over the already existing M80 and M81 weapons; however, it quickly found its way through the ranks of Special Forces. The M111A1 is the standard rifle with a 16.5" barrel. The A2 offers a longer, 20" barrel for marksmenship. The A3 is the standard carbine with a 14" barrel. The A4 is the short carbine with a 10" barrel and the A5 is a suppressed A4 with a different stock.

M112 Viper
The M112 Viper is an entirely unique weapon, based solely on the M111A4 and M111A5 Modular Assault Weapon. Both variants featured a powerful 10 inch barrel with an expandable buttstock for the A4 and a unique, lightweight, small stock for the A5. Sensing the need to replace the venerable M43 Submachine Gun, the Layartebian Defense Corporation acted using the amazing E19 design. What was created was, essentially, a newer weapon. The M43 used the 9mm Parabellum round, which was heralded as a great success. In pistols, this round was often too weak to put down a target unless there was a direct kill shot to the heart or head. Combined with the high rate of fire of the MP5, the round became a potent takedown device that wouldn't run the risk of overpenetration. However, with the phase out of the M43 so too came the phase out of the 9mm Parabellum in Layartebian Military service. The standard pistol round had become the 10 x 23mm round used in the M105 Tactical Defense Pistol, the standard issue sidearm in the ILM. Designed by Doomani Industries, the round offered superior stopping power to the .40SW but more control than the 10mm Auto, which was why it was so successful. It was decided that the M112 Viper would be using the 10 x 23mm round and some modifications were made to the weapon. What came about were four variants, all of them equally dangerous and deadly. The M112A1 featured the standard buttstock on the M111A4 and an unsuppressed barrel. The A2 moved to the smaller and more maneuverably buttstock of the A5 but maintained the unsuppressed barrel. The A3 and A4 versions mimiced the A1 and A2 except that they offered a suppressed barrel. In addition, the trigger group was changed from the 2-round burst to feature the more popular 3-round burst for supreme knock-down power. An increase to the rate of fire was also achieved.

XM113 Impaler
The Advanced Heavy Rifle program was initiated in late 2006, its goal to construct and make an automatic rifle, light enough to be carried by troops but powerful enough to provide enough muzzle energy to defeat even the most capable body army, namely Dragonskin SOV-4000, which was rated up to and including Level V. Normal SOV-3000 vests could stop Level IV weapons, which included most battlefield rifles. SOV-4000 vests provided defense for anything short of the more powerful sniper rifles, namely those with a caliber larger than .338 Lapua, which provided almost 5,000 ft·lb at muzzle velocities. Highly accurate, the .338 Lapua round was only useful in a long-barrelled, sniper weapon. What was needed was a round that was equally capable but easier to shoot in burst or automatic fire, although the latter option seemed far more distant. Several rounds were evaluated, including the .416 Remington Magnum, 7mm Remginton Magnum, .300 Remington Ultra Magnum, and .45-70 Government. Although originally though to be a front-runner, the 7mm Remington Magnum provided over 3,000 ft·lb at muzzle velocities but was weak compared to the other rounds evaluated. The .45-70 Government was deemed too powerful and the race was down to just the .416 Remginton Magnum and .300 Remington Ultra Magnum, which provided over 5,000 ft·lb and over 4,000 ft·lb, respectively. Ultimately, the .300 RUM would be choosen and it would be modified from its existing 7.82 x 72.39mm size to 7.82 x 80mm, giving it a larger boost in powder. The standard bullet choice would be the 200 grain load but whereas the .300 RUM offered 951 meters per second and 4,321 ft·lb out of a 24 inch barrel, the 7.82 x 80mm would offer 1,000 meters per second and 4,779 ft·lb out of the same 24 inch barrel. The first prototype was made at an astronomical cost of $11,000 but subsequent designs averaged at $5,850. With an impressive range of 800 meters, with stock modifications, the large weapon, at 40 inches and 10 pounds is a surefire defeater of all modern body armor. Its development is strictly classified. Because of the sheer force expected of the round, the XM113 incorporates several counter-recoil systems including 16 ounces of mercury in a baffled tube in the buttstock, which raises the length of time that the shot's impulse is spread across, thus lowering felt recoil. Buttstocks are padded with high-strength rubber and are, at this present time, non-adjustable. The weapon features a Picatinny rail on the top, sides, and bottom of the barrel and the weapon.

M114 Assault Rifle/Carbine
The M114 is an indigenous designation for the SSA1 and SSA2 rifles, which are produced and distributed by Stalwart Munitions from Agrandov. The SSA1 Service Assault Rifle made such a profound impact on the Layartebian Defense Corporation that upwards of one half milion of these were purchased after a small trial period. Redesignated the M114A1, the rifle was chambered in 6.8 x 51mm, a unique feature to the M114A1. Equipped with a rail system, the M114A1 is as versatile as any Layartebian weapon, allowing it to utilize all of the SOPMOD components, originally made famous by the M4 Carbine. With the use of a balanced gas system and its weight, in full automatic mode, the M114A1 exhibits less recoil than even the M16A4 rifle. The SSA2 Carbine Assault Rifle was a further development onto the SSA1, which shortened the overall length by almost six inches and the barrel by almost four inches. Both weapons are light-weight and are heavily rugged. The SSA2 Carbine, designated M114A2, was accepted into the LDC around the same time as the M114A1. The LDC intended to push these weapons for service but fell short of the already existing M80 and M81, which were already in full service throughout the Layartebian military. However, like the M111, the M114 would see service with special forces, civilian law enforcement units, federal agency teams, and even certain branches of the regular military. The carbon-fibre-reinforced-plastic, steel-framed stock contains a hollow space for a cleaning kit and up to 5 rounds of specialist ammunition.

M115 Grenade Launcher
The M115 Grenade Launcher is an indigenously produced LGFM Grenade Launcher, made by the Doomingsland Defense Industries. The M115 is an underbarrel, breech-loaded, 40mm grenade launcher, capable of being mounted to any standard piccatiny accessory rail system. The weapon incorporates a pistol grip, an ambidextrous safety, as well as integral sights, which ensure that when attached to a rifle the launcher is already sighted in, making it extremely modular. The weapon's breech, unlike many grenade launcher, swivels to the side (the left in this case), allowing for the use of longer rounds that otherwise could not be used by a pump-action launcher. The M115 is capable of firing the full range of 40x46mm low velocity grenades and 40x53mm high velocity grenades, making it a highly robust system. The weapon features a double action trigger, meaning that the breech does not need to be cycled again in the event of a missfire and that the operator need only pull the trigger again. A major advantage of the weapon is that it weighs a mere 3.5 pounds when loaded with thanks to the usage of lightweight, high-strength polymer in the weapon's furniture. The M115 is also capable of being used as a stand alone weapon system through the addition of a folding buttstock. It is designed to supplement the M48 Grenade Launcher and, eventually, phase it out of existence.

M116 Black Arrow
The M116 Black Arrow is an indigenously designed and modified Zastava M93 Black Arrow. Like the M93, the M116 is available in 12.7 x 99mm but also is available in 15.5 x 115mm and .408 CheyTac. Like the M93, the M116 is balanced well with a two-spring buffer system in the stock to alleviate recoil on the operator. A muzzle brake reduces recoil by upwards of 62% and an integrated flash suppressor ensures that the shooter's position is not revealed. The stock and forehand is made of polymer with reinforced glass fibers and the weapon is steadied on an adjustable, folding bipod. It uses one of the most accurate systems available for a rifle, the Mauser system. The barrel is heavy also for an accurate and precise path, maximizing muzzle energy. The M116 is fitted standard with a powerful Mil-dot scope that is capable of 24x zoom and a 72mm optical lens. Fitted with a small laser rangefinder, the scope can allow the operator to accurately measure the distance to the target. The scope is also equipped with night vision and can use thermal imaging as well. Powered by a lithium-ion cell, the scope is also used on the M32, the M38, and the M39. The A1 version uses the 12.7 x 99mm round and has an effective range of 1,600 meters. The A2 uses the .408 CheyTac out to 2,400 meters, longer than the M100 Outbreak. The A3 uses the 15.5 x 115mm round out to 2,750 meters, which is less than the M32 but the weapon is considerably less cumbersome.

XM117 Raptor
The XM117 Raptor, originally designed by Stalwart Munitions, a subdivision of the Stalwart Private Military Corporation (SPMC) from Agrandov as the Light Assault Rifle. Following an unsuccessful development program, the LAR was picked up by the Layartebian Defense Corporation, Small Arms Division and subsequently named the Raptor project and given the designation XM117. The Raptor is a prototype for a hard-hitting assault rifle that would complement the XM113 Impaler. However, unlike the XM113, the XM117 Raptor would not use as large of a round as the Impaler. Several design ideas were taken into account while designers worked to develop the Raptor. Among them included an adjustable stock, a blowback shifted pulse option, select fire, a Picatinny rail, and various other options, including counter-balance systems. Gas-operated, the Raptor has a 16 inch barrel, is light weight, and offers either semi-automatic, burst, or fully automatic rates of fire. When in burst mode, the bolt carrier is driven backwards by the force of the gas from the cartridge, a pulley activates a cartridge-feeding device. This results in an instantaneous rate of fire of 1,800 rounds per minute. Taken from the AN-94 Abkaban, this is a complex and expensive system but is highly effective against body armor. In automatic mode, the first round rounds form this and then, the system reverts to its normal rate of fire, which is 750 rounds per minute. Various prototypes were developed using the 6.8 x 51mm, 7.62 x 51mm, 6.7 x 53mm Imperial, and 7mm Remington Magnum. When it came down to crunch time, the 6.8 x 51mm round was selected.

M118 AVIR
The M118 AVIR began simply as the AVIR Advanced Personal Weapon System, a weapon system produced by the Doomingsland Defense Industries and Stalwart Munitions, two of the most respected munitions developers in the world. Originally adopted by Manchurian Global to arm their elite bodyguard units, the Layartebian Defense Corporation eventually procured its production rights. A high capable and advanced weapon system, the AVIR combines small ammunition and a high rate of fire to knock down targets with greater ease than most assault rifles in the world. Well-constructed and easily cared for, the AVIR was introduced to the Imperial Layartebian Military as the M118A1 and is used by a variety of specialized units as well as domestic and civilian police agencies. Its 6.7x35mm cased telescopic round is one of the more unique rounds available in the world and provides enough punch to give the M118 the ability to knock down even the largest of foes with just a few rounds. There are also the A2 and A3, which are designations of the personal defense rifle and infantry automatic rifle, providing different sized barrels for the different tasks.

M119 ADEC
The ADEC light machine gun is another fine product from the Doominsland Defense Industries and Stalwart Munitions companies. It was designed in conjunction with the AVIR in order to provide a sophisticated yet simple and reliable light machine gun with enough firepower to replace the older generation of light machine guns seen in worldwide service. Boasting a rate of fire in excess of 1,200 rounds per minute, the ADEC takes the flag from the MG3 and MG42 predecessors and uses a roller delayed blowback operation to provide an impressive rate of fire. Other important features included a full integrated rail system, a vented heatshield, adjustable stock, and an advanced flash-suppressing muzzle brake fitted to the weapon's threaded muzzle, which serves to further reduce recoil by a large degree at the cost of making the weapon generate far more noise volume than it otherwise would have. Despite its high rate of fire, the ADEC is fully capable of being fired from either the hip or the shoulder with great ease, thanks to the many recoil reducing features included with the weapon system. Originally chambered for the same 6.7 x 35mm round as the AVIR, the ADEC has been adopted into the Imperial Layartebian Military in three additional calibers: 6.8 x 51mm, 7.62 x 51mm, and 6.7 x 53mm. Equipped with an eighteen inch barrel, the ADEC can provide accurate fire up to twelve hundred meters using the 6.7 x 35mm round and even further using the 7.62 x 51mm round, which also packs a bigger punch. The M119 ADEC has potential to replace the M35 LMG, the current light machine gun in the ILM.

M120 Equinox
The M120 Equinox is the LDC designation for the Equinox series of pistols developed by Argus Industrial Manufacturing (AIM), an Amastoli company. Introduced in 2007 by AIM, the Equinox series of pistols come in almost every available caliber from 9mm up to .45ACP. Polymer framed, the double action pistols are more rugged and durable than many of their counterparts. In service with a wide variety of armed forces and law enforcement agencies around the world, the Equinox's production run approached nearly one billion units, a number of those built under lisence in the Empire by the Layartebian Defense Corporation. Unlike many other domestically produced, non-indigenous weapons, the Layartebian Defense Corporation made no changes to the Equinox series, none being necessary. Though they would not see service replacing the M105 TDP, as originally intended, the M120 Equinox would soon become the most common, standard issue sidearm in the Empire's law enforcement agencies. The Equinox comes in three sizes, compact, standard, and tactical dubbed Eclipse, Tactical, and Combat accordingly. All three variants are organized into the M120 series with the letters "A," "B," and "C" for the three respective sizes. An additional, subcompact size named Defender as subsequently adopted as the "D" variant. The Defender is only available in certain calibers at a reduced magazine capacity.
