En route to Egypt

Major General Milashenko sat in the C-130, listening to the rhythmic hum of the engines of the massive aircraft. His eyes closed and his mind wandered before he was shaken back to conciousness when the C-130 jerked slightly.

'Damn turbulence..' he thought to himself.

Fully equipped soldiers surrounded Milashenko, almost seven dozen of them, all heading to the designated military airfield in Abu Simbel, Egypt. Several other transports accompanied this one, C-130's had been flying back and forth from Tanzania to Egypt all day.

A total of 250,000 troops were being moved to Egypt, not including tanks and artillery. The reason for this mass mobilization was to simply reinforce the North African colony. Its defenses had been lacking; that had been proven in a recent incident involving IDF.

It would be another hour or two before they landed; Milashenko had plenty of time to rest. He closed his eyes again and began to doze.

"General, wake up!" The aide gently shook the General's shoulder, and the man stirred, opening his eyes slowly.

"What is it man?"

"You are wanted on the telephone, someone wants to speak to you."

The General stretches, and steps out of bed. He grabs a dressing gown and puts it on, before following his excited aide to the telephone. "General Orome here, who is speaking please?" The General enquires down the phone.

"This is IN Military Headquarters, speaking from the offices of our governmental department. We are here to brief you on your job in Safehaven2, Africa."

"Good Morning, is this call to do with the reason I was sent here?" Orome replies.

"You were sent here two weeks ago to allow you to settle in and get the feel of the place, before the commencing of your job. Your task is to prevent foreign aggressors from raiding and attacking the free nation of our ally, Safehaven2."

Orome thought for a moment before saying: "I was unaware of any such aggression towards Safehaven2, as far as i know it is extremely stable."

"Yes, it appears that way. But we have other intelligence that informs us that a highly dangerous enemy is on the verge of begining to attack assets of Safehaven2, Zarbia and Huzen Hagen in Africa, to weaken them and to draw military strength from other regions. You are to assist in the defence of the Central African Republic and The Democratic Republic of Congo, both held by Safehaven2.

Safehaven military forces will be assisting in this operation, and all borders must be protected from enemy intrusion, as well as setting up a highly tactful defense system within the nation.

In Egypt and Tanzania, Zarbian forces will also be conducting measures similar to this, as will Huzen Hagen in Eritrea. On no account must aggressors be allowed to weaken the delicate balance in Africa.

You have been granted use of the Army Group V and Army Group VI for this operation. Do you understand your task?"

"Yes, I do. I will carry out the Emperor's request. When will the units arrive?"

"The air elements will arrive shortly, the rest are coming via the west coast, and should be here in about three weeks."

"Thank you, over and out."

Orome places the phone back in it's holder and looks at his aide. "Ready my plane, we need to fly to meet someone."

The DRC and CAR had seen a sudden boost from being 3rd world to being 1st world, or at least 1st and a half. Billions had been poured into the colonies over the years and the populations tripled with the influx of Havenite colonists. These colonies were extremly important to Safehaven and as such they had large garrison especally with the recently ended war in Zarbian Africa.

The world was changing at a rapid pace, Brimstone, NATO's weakening, WACL problems, things were coming up daily and every day new problems arose with them. One of these problems involed a large alliance not on friendly terms with Safehaven or her allies and already blood had been spilled. The Zarbian war was over but the threat was not and Safehaven had to sieze the initiative. Quietly and secretly two fleets moved into the Indian Ocean meeting up with the Zarbian Tanzanian fleet. The colonies were already well stocked with men so reinforcement wasn't necasary for the upcoming job but the alert level was raised. Soon enough these colonies would be in the middle of a large African war.

Abu Simbel,
Egypt

Milashenko was refreshed after the short nap he had taken before reaching his destination. Abu Simbel was a beautiful location, two massive temples in the middle of nowhere. The Zarbians had built a huge military base in the area, including an airfield and several compounds.

He was lying on a cot in his private quarters in the officer's compound. In his hand was a small 9mm bullet, he had held on to the bullet since the surgeons pulled it out of him fifteen years ago. He kept it as a reminder of how short life was and that it could be snatched away from you at any moment. The reinforcements had finished coming a couple of hours after he had arrived; they were all here. A bell rang somewhere outside, it was time for dinner. Milashenko put the bullet in his pocket, got up from the bed, and began to make his way to the mess hall.

Reinforcements in Tanzania had been piling up by the thousand. For the past few weeks’ troops had been inching their way to the border with Kenya, almost one million men had amassed close in the area and more were to come. The matter was very mysterious but would all be revealed very soon, it was almost time.
