Two Bolos that had gone missing today attacked the New Rison spaceport inside the Concordiat. Their radio messages to the other Bolos that were still under control indicated that they had detected a conspiracy and were in the process of staming it out. The Bolos were caught, but not after thirteen .3 Kiloton nuclear missiles went off and several Hellbore bolts were exchanged between loyal and rogue combat units. The spaceport was completely destroyed, but the nuclear weapons used prevented the escape of the rogue units, melting the barrels of their secondary and antipersonnel weapons, and humans in rad suits were able to close in enough to shut down the AI core. Unfortunately, the scorched hulls are little more then melted mounds of high-radiation duralloy. The main guns, however, were salvaged and used in the construction of a Bolo transport for the later marks of Bolo, with many more manual and automatic overrides implanted into their processing units.
The two AI cores were destroyed after being shut down, the radiation making slavage virtually impossible and useless anyways. The hulls are in staisis underground, completely encased in lead and concrete.
The destruction of the two combat units, despite their disobedience of their commanders, is a blow to the Concordiat. It also demonstrated a weakness in the Bolo, which Concordiat scientists hoped to rectify in Bolos Resartus and Alex. The loss of Hector and Thomas, however, was offset by the completion of a new Bolo. Combat Unit 004 356 Bolo JSN, Jason, was comissioned today in the service of the Concordiat.
