The Colonial Government is sad to announce the loss of one of its greatest diplomats and spokespersons today. Secretary Kelli Perim of the Colonial Department of Foreign Affairs died last night on her return from diplomatic talks with Czar Roger Fabus of Mississippi. Shortly after breaking the sound barrier, Secretary Perim's personal Concorde transport aircraft exploded, killing all aboard. Faulty wiring is the suspected cause of the explosion. Rescue personel, while able to recover some personal effects, had difficulty in locating substantial recognizable remains.
A state funeral in the Colonial capitol of Viconia City is scheduled for 3 days from today. President Neil McDouglas and Vice President Juliet LeFlore are to be amoung the many government officals in attendence. A 21 gun salute using 155mm cannons, as well as a flyover by F-106 Liberators is planned. Secretary Perim has been awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom for her 'unwavering dedication to the preservation of peace and tireless diplomatic efforts for the greater good of the Colonies.'
Foreign representatives are invited to attend to pay thier final respects to one of the finest diplomats to ever serve the Federated Union of Democratic Colonies.

"This is a horrible tragedy, our thoughts and prayers are with her family, if the woman had any that is, I'm sure she did... Oh well, this is still a tragedy, the pilot, co-pilot, and the others on the plane, some of them had to have families. This is just awful."
Czarina Alice Fabus
I'm very sorry to see that such a woman has died.

The transport glid down through the atmosphere, repulsors engaging, and soon, Democratic Colonies was in sight. The skyscrapers of Viconia City soon loomed closer and closer. Until the small Pheonix Class Personel transport set down, its engines coming to a halt. It hadn't been too hard to reach, as Siesatia had currently been constructing a new space station, in orbit around the sun. It had only been a skip and a jump to earth from there.
Sarah DeFreiz reached the airlock door, and it slid open, a gangplank sliding down. She stepped out, into the fresh air, she didn't know if DC had Ionic Scrubbers or not, but it was certainly better then on the space station, or maybe it was the fact that she was on earth, the homeworld of her people.
Looking around, she was surprised, she was used to mixed crews, of the Burmecians, Humans, and Saurians. But here, there were only humans, it felt... Unnatural, but then again, much of Earth hadn't even had contact with alien species.
Looking down at her invitation she headed for the place as specified on the card.

"Well, that's.... odd." mumbled Director Walton Simons. A grey haired man who seemed like he was past middle age but still fitter than most in thier thirties, Simons stood on a raised platform at the back of the command centre, his gaze transfixed upon a video feed before him. Footage from CM of a reporter claiming that Secretary Perim was still alive was playing on one of the massive wallmounted screens that lined the front of the command centre.
"What do you think?" Simons asked his Deputy Director, Catherine Witt, as the reporter was dragged out of the camera's sight by police personel.
"Well, if he's right, that would explain why we couldn't find any actual bodies at the crast site of the Concorde." replied Witt.
"The plane was traveling at Mach One when it exploded though." said Simons, rubbing a hand against his chin thoughtfully. "Human remains don't hold up too well at those speeds, and everything was scattered across miles anyways."
"Still, I never liked it." said Witt. "CIS Section 4 might say that it was faulty wiring, but that dosen't sound right to me. Secretary Perim's Concorde was well looked after, and faulty wiring usually dosen't explode entire aircraft."
"CI4's run the analysis, they still say it was probably faulty wiring in the primary fuel coupling junction." said Simons. "Still though, I think we should follow this up, don't you agree?"
Witt nodded in the gloom of the command centre. "It might be a bit dangerous for us right now in CM though." she said, gesturing towards another one of the massive LCD screens at the front of the command centre. "Looks like there's a coup going on."
"Maybe that's a good thing." said Simons. "I want you to put together a team. Make it light, keep it low on numbers. Assign someone experienced to command - someone from Intel Section 5, SpecOps. Once the situation in CM gets worse, they should be able to slip in through the fighting. We'll figure out what city the video with the reporter was taken in, have the team go there. Try to track that reporter down - find out what he knows."
"And if he knows nothing?" asked Witt, an eyebrow raised.
"Then he knows nothing." replied Simons. "Just put together the team - put someone from CI5 in command. Liason with the Office of Naval Intelligence, maybe they can provide transport into CM once things get worse."
"If things get worse." corrected Witt.
"Oh trust me, they will get worse." replied Simons. "I've seen alot of coups in my time - things will get much, much worse."
Simons slowly withdrew a cigeratte from his jacket pocket and lit it, casting a flare of light accross his features for a moment as his lighter's flame fought back the dim lighting of the command centre.
"If Perim's alive, we'll find her." he said, replacing his lighter and cigeratte pack.

The sky was a beautiful shade of blue, with only a few clouds gliding silently across the seemingly boundless infinity of its depths. The sun was shining its last rays before sunset, and the air was comfortably cool, with only an occasional gust of soft breezy wind. Truth be told, it was the nicest weather that Viconia City had experienced in over a month. With the Viconia skyline cutting into the air like pillars holding up the world itself, it was an achingly beautiful day in Viconia. It was the day of Kelli Perim's state funeral.
The Unity National Cemetary, where war heros and high level government officals were buried, was a large area littered with statues, monuments and symbols of leaders and heros who's time had come and gone. It was located on a ridge near the outskirts of the city that afforded it a stunning view of Viconia Harbour and the Viconia Skyline. It was into the Unity National Cemetary that a massive vehicle convoy drove. Led by an honour guard of Viconia City Police units (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v207/JC_Denton/NationStates/motorcycles.jpg), a convoy of Black government sedans, SUVs and limos escorted a single hearse in the middle of thier procession.
The hearse eventually left the convoy to travel into a secluded green spot at the begining of a stone trail. The other vehicles stopped where they were to allow thier occupants; various government officials, personal friends and foriegn guests, to exit thier vehicles. They all eventually assembled behind the waiting hearse, which then started to go slowly down the stone road towards what had been decided upon as Kelli Perim's grave. A number of bag-pipers played Abide With Me (http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/a/b/abidewme.htm) as the hearse and the mourners made thier way down the polished stone road.
The hearse stopped at infront of a large pillar. An empty grave was behind the pillar. Six pall-bearers shared the task of lifting the casket out of the hearse. While the remains of Secretary Perim where never actually found, the casket contained a few articles of clothing that she was believed to be wearing at the time of her aircraft explosion, as well as a few personal effects chosen by her friends.
The pall-bearers; a Colonial Army Ranger, a Colonial Navy Lancer, a Colonial Security Agent, a Colonial Intelligence Agent, her former deputy and closest friend, and at that point replacement Stephanie March (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v207/JC_Denton/NationStates/March01.jpg), and Colonial President Neil McDouglas solemnly carried Perim's casket and placed it into the grave (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v207/JC_Denton/NationStates/as201229.jpg). The Colonial flag that had been draped across the casket has taken, symbolically folded, and given to Stephanie March. There was a sad silence in the air, as most of the words that people felt that they needed to say had already been said at the two hour long ceremony at the Saint Micheal's church that everyone had just arrived with the casket from. At Saint Micheal's, the public had gathered to pay thier respects as well (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v207/JC_Denton/NationStates/ccf575c0.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v207/JC_Denton/NationStates/hug.jpg).
The bagpipes began to play No Tears In Heaven (http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/n/o/notearsh.htm) as the mourners continued thier silence. There was a silent pause at the end of the song during which mourners report President McDouglas nearly collapsed from grief after dropping a single golden rose onto the casket in the unfilled grave. The silence was broken however, as the roar of the approaching military fly over was heard.
A squadren of 10 EB-15 Arkbirds (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=372642&page=1) approached at a fairly low altitude, each escorted by a full squadren of 16 F-106 Liberators (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=366362&page=1). They executed a traditional missing man formation flyover, inwhich the aircraft approached from the South before one of the Arkbirds, along with its Liberator escorts, made a sudden turn West, towards the sunset as the aircraft passed over the cemetary.
After the flyover, twenty one 155mm artillery guns began the praticed firing of rounds into Viconia Harbour in a 21 gun salute.
At the conclusion of that, the bagpipes began to play Amazing Grace (http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/a/m/amazgrac.htm) as soil was piled on top of the casket by the pall-bearers. All six cried during this final task in the ceremony, but they had volunteered for the duty. It did not take them long to cover the casket with the thick cemetary soil. The members of Secretary Perim's protective detail who were not assigned to go with Perim to Mississipi felt that even though they were not even there to that faithful night over the Gulf of Mexico, they had somehow failed in thier duties to protect her (http://nrm.salrm.uaf.edu/~abalser/embrace.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v207/JC_Denton/NationStates/FullDisclosureFuneral.jpg). Closure was achieved for many in the Democratic Colonies, but not them, despite the fact that the government tried to console them with the fact that even if they had been there, they still could not have saved her. Although a full body was not found, atleast a casket in her name, with some of her essence in it, was now layed to rest.
The newly appointed Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Stephanie March, was seen comforting President Neil McDouglas at the foot of the grave, while Vice President Juliet LeFlore reportedly hugged Secretary of Interior Affairs Jim Cain while both were in tears. A teary eyed Secretary of Defense Robert Wolfe was also reportly comforted by Siesatian representative Sarah DeFreiz.

"Past tensions between our two nations have not stopped a moment of silence and the playing of a piece of music in her memory. She will be greatly missed. Flowers are on the way to Claire Delmac to comfort her." -Official message from the Ruling COuncil
Father Antonette (secratary of foriegn affairs) walked outside. He knew that a great, fellow diplomat had been lost. He listened as a 21 gun salute went off. The flag was dropped to half mast for 24 hours.
Then, all over Cherry Ridge, this was heard as it blared from every church in the nation, from Our Lady of Mount Carmel cathedral to the lowliest church in the country.

Hey DC, I'm opening up a 'Witch Hunt Continues' thread soon, and I am contacting DLE, and Balrogga. CR was abusing the mod powers and had it closed, so, in the new thread, we totally ignore whatever he says, and then, he can't ask for it to be closed on the grounds of 'Arguements'.
