Jarridia

Presidential Palace; Shelbin, Jarridia December 24
Standing in the front lawn, the snow gently falling from the sky. President Jarrod Branam stood behind the podium with his brown heavy jacket on, and a scarf wrapped around his neck. It was night time, and quite cold, but the whole city had turned out to watch the infamous 'Lighting of the Palace.' It was approximately 7 p.m. and suddenly the lights flashed on. The massive 20 foot christmas tree turned on, and the beautiful display of colored lights, and pristine white lights covered the entire palace. The gates were covered in garland and white lights, and all the walkways were lined with brightly colored globe lights.
A hush came across the crowd, and the television cameras were readied, as President Branam began his address to the nation, Jarridia's allies, and the rest of the world.
"Good evening. Thank you for joining me as we begin our holiday. Over the past year many progresses have been made in both diplomatic, and economic issues. Jarridia has grown in both power and worth, yet we have retained our sense of moral decency, and kindness.
Many times, horrific tragedies have befallen our cities and people, and this goes for every nation in the world. We have been trespassed against, and we have trespassed others. Our fellow people have fallen for unjust causes at times, and some have fallen due to the fact that terrorists are still a prominant part of our society.
But at this holiday I want us to take a break from the heartbreak that has befallen our world, and to remember and be thankful for all the wonderful things we do have. It doesn't matter if you are Christian, Muslim, or Aetheist. It is time for us all to come together at this time of the year, and work together to strive for a better and more enlightened future. We must forgive those that have done us wrong, and join together in a solid voice and say that we will not go silently into the night, and we will not be overtaken with hatred and jealousy.
My hopes for the future are that we can survive together in peace and spread wonderful joy throughout the year to come. Why must we fight? What does fighting solve? Nothing can come from war but more sorrow. It is time for us to move beyond the jealous tendencies of the past and to befriend our neighbors. I hope that all of my fellow national leaders will join me this evening and go forward in friendship. In order to show Jarridia's promise to peace, we have sent a bottle of our finest red wine to, not only our allies, but every national leader on this planet. Please do enjoy.
As for me personally. I wish you all the best to the end of this year, and throughout the next. I hope all of your dreams can come true, and that your lives take a brighter turn. Have a great holiday season, no matter what religion you are or aren't."
President Branam waved, and then returned into the palace. The crowds cheered, were given free hot chocolate, and allowed to walk the grounds.
