The Imperium has decided that due to recent tensions and the increased proliferation of nuclear weapons within the region to expand its nuclear arsenal. Currently the Imperium keeps the minimum number of weapons necessary for a credible deterrent. However, the Joint Strategic Command no longer feels that the minimum necessary deterrent is no longer enough. The current active inventory consists of the following:
ICBM: 1,152 warheads on seventy-two launch vehicles
SLBM: 3,600 warheads on three hundred and sixty launch vehicles
Cruise Missiles: 13,824 warheads mounted to Ironhawk cruise missiles
Bombs: 7,200 GPS-guided bombs
The increases proposed by the Joint Strategic Command are thus:
ICBM: 9,216 warheads on five hundred and seventy-six launch vehicles
SLBM: 11,520 - 17,280 on 720 - 1,080 launch vehicles
Cruise Missiles: 82,944 warheads mounted on Ironhawk cruise missiles
Bombs: 86,400 GPS-guided bombs
Whether or not to continue to keep a ready reserve is one of the issues up for debate in the House of Commons. The bill, as introduced, has already passed in the Senate and it is expected that a similar bill will come out of the Commons with only minimal changes. Which one the Emperor signs is anybody's guess.
