Show off your infantry gear!

Democratic Colonies

A thread for showing off your infantry weapons, equipment, armour, and your infantry in general. Infantry form a critical part of any military organization, and I think this thread could do alot to help everyone know more about the various infantry corps in different militaries.

Plus, I wanted to show off all my kewl pictures. So sue me.

The Infantry of the Colonial Military

The Non-Combat/Dress Uniform

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v207/JC_Denton/529962d9.jpg

The standard non-combat uniform worn by Colonial infantry personel is the same standard multi-service uniform worn by all Colonial military personel. It is worn by most in the Navy, Airforce and Marine Corps as thier everyday uniform, but is seen less frequently in day to day life in the Army. Usually worn in formal events, rear echelon duties, administrative duties, logistical operations, etc. by Army personel.

It is composed of a red leather jacket clasping on either the left or right side, a black turtleneck and black pants. All personel may choose to wear an alternate pair of tan pants if they prefer. Women have the option of wearing a lower cut jacket and top. A thigh strapped pistol holster is a standard part of the uniform.

Combat Armour

The armour worn in combat by the Colonial soldier is considered to be highly advanced when compared to that of most nations.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v207/JC_Denton/NationStates/untitled.jpg

Featuring ceramic composite chest and back plates capable of stopping multiple 7.62x39mm rounds, the Colonial soldier has some of the best protection available. Insertable shin plates, as well as knee and elbow pads also composed of ceramic composites, help protect those traditionally vulnerable areas.

One of the most important aspects of the Colonial armour however, is the standard issue grey jumpsuit is worn under the ceramic plates. Made of a synthetic fibre enriched with shear thickening fluid, the so-called 'liquid body armour', the jumpsuit is capable of stopping fragments and some small caliber rounds from injuring the wearer. Refererences for Shear Thickening Fluid can be found at the following sites: http://www4.army.mil/news/article.php?story=5872 , http://www.military.com/NewsContent/0,13319,usa3_042104.00.html , http://www.sciencentral.com/articles/view.php3?article_id=218392121&language=english.

Equipment and ammunition can be carried in a rapidly detachable backpack, small items can be carried on the armour itself. A thigh strapped pistol holster is always worn.

Combat Helmet

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v207/JC_Denton/NationStates/dizzy2.jpg

The standard issue helmet of the Colonial soldier is composed of a ceramic composite shell surrounding a kevler interior. A microphone system is built in, and easily connects to a radio system mounted in the bodyarmour. A plastic encased display screen with a height of three inches is built into the helmet. Retractable into the front of the helmet and able to offer nightvision capabilities, as well as navigational, communications and tactical information, the transparent display screen can be drawn down over the user's eyes with a simple pull. Early models of the helmet had the display screen as a non-retractable permanent fixture over the user's eyes, but infantry personel complained that it quickly became scratched, dented, and damaged, and requested that it be able to retract into the helmet when not in use.

The Infantry of the Colonial Military Continued

Weapons

The standard assualt rifle for the Colonial soldier is the AR-22 DCV (Democratic Colonies Variant). Originally chambered for the .45 caliber round, production rights for the AR-22 were purchased by the Democratic Colonies from Phoenix Dynamix. The Colonial military had the AR-22s produced for thier use rechambered to fire the 7.62mm NATO round. The underbarrel .8 gauge shotgun, capable of firing explosive rounds, was left unmodified in the AR-22 Democratic Colonies Variant.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v207/JC_Denton/NationStates/1335_st0016.jpg
While the rifle is fairly heavy, weighing in at 12 pounds, the combat performance of the AR-22 DCV is considered to be quite good by any standards. The bullpup design allows for a much longer barrel then what would be achievable with a traditional design. The AR-22 DCV has a magazine capacity of 42 7.62mm NATO rounds and 8 .8 gauge explosive or buckshot shells.

The FN M240 functions as the Colonial machine gun at the squad level. Adopted to replace the M249 SAW to harmonize the type of ammunition used by the assault rifles and machine guns issued to troops, allowing for easier logistical support.

The FN P-90 is the standard Colonial submachine gun. While the MP5 is also available for use by the Colonial Special Forces and federal tactical teams, most personel prefer the P-90 when given a choice between the two. The 50 round magazine and superior armour-piercing abilities of the P-90 over the MP5 are what led to the P-90 being chosen as the standard SMG over the MP5 and other competitors.

Magazine capacity: 50 rounds
Effective range: 200 meters

The Colonial Arms LR-105 Sniper Rifle is the standard Colonial sniper rifle. Lighter sniper rifles are available to the special forces through special item requestion forms, but most personel would rather have the admittedly large and heavy LR-105 instead of requesting a smaller sniper rifle with lowered performance. Efforts are ongoing at Colonial Arms to see if the size and weight of the LR-105 can be reduced without sacrificing performance, but such efforts have so far been fruitless.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v207/JC_Denton/NationStates/steyr_amr.jpg

The SIG / Colonial Arms joint production SIG Sauer P221, DC Edition is the standard Colonial sidearm. Considered to be highly reliable and well built, the P221 was designed by a joint design team over a period of 3 years. The P221 DCE had already served a full year with the Colonial Bureau of Security before the Colonial military considered replacing thier Berreta 92F / M9 pistols with them. The M9 was slated for replacement because of continuing complaints about low stopping power, so the Colonial military arranged a competitive "shoot-off" inwhich the P221 was selected as the standard military sidearm over a 10mm pistol design from Berreta, a 12mm design from IMI, and a .50 caliber design from Colonial Arms. Considered to have a good balance between high stopping power, managable recoil, high accuracy and a fair sized magazine, the P221 is currently worn on the duty uniform of the Colonial military by all personel, and is the most often issued pistol to local and regional police and security forces.

Chambered for the 5.7x28mm cartridge that is also used in the P90 Submachinegun, the CP21 Pistol offers superior accuracy and armour penetration while greatly simplifying the logistics of supplying a military on the move with sufficent ammunition. The CP21 is capable of firing in semi-automatic, three round burst, or fully automatic modes. While occasional jamming while firing in the fully automatic mode sometimes occurs in the current production model of the CP21, the Colonial Arms Corporation is attempting to correct this minor and occasional malfunction issue.

Zapadslavia
24-12-2004, 07:38
The Zapadslav Unity Army adheres to President Bojan Javoric's policy of technological and and industrial equivalence with foreign powers.

At least, that is the official line. In reality, Javoric's other policies, including total national self-sufficiency, have shut the Unity-Republic off from the advances and profits of the outside, and leave the nation with what it already is able to produce.

Still, this armament is not to be sniffed at, and provides the ZUA at least a reasonable base from which to resist aggression.

Model 70AZ 9mm Automatic Pistol
This is essentially the Zapadslav version of the well-known Tokarev TT-33, which, like the Yugoslav pistol after which it is more directly fashioned, is chambered for 9mm Parabellum. The re-chambering is said to make the weapon marginally more comfortable to shoot and perhaps to give it a little more stopping power, as well as giving it greater export potential. The Model 70A adds a safety catch on the slide, and this is carried over to the Zapadslav version.

Model 56Z 9mm Sub-Machinegun
A very simple weapon to manufacture, the Model 56 is none the less a reasonably modern and well-made gun that is easy to operate and to maintain and effective in combat. It has a pistol grip and folding butt similar to the older German MP40, and some of the internal build is similar to that weapon. It is however a more recent design, better balanced and more robust. It has a 32-shot box magazine and can accept a 48-shot drum for increased firepower.
Image! (http://www.marstar.ca/fullauto/images/Rifle-SMG/Y-M-56-L.jpg)

Zapad M85 5.56x45mm Sub-Machinegun
A version of the Zastova M85, again of Yugoslav design, is basically a shortened version of the standard assault rifle. It is intended for use by vehicle and aircraft crews, special forces, and internal security operatives.
Image! (http://www.zastava-arms.co.yu/images/vojni/5_56/3.jpg)

M80/M80A 5.56x45mm Assault Rifles
Yugoslav rifles built specifically for export and adopted by the Zapadslav Unity Army. Now manufactured in Zapadslavia, the former version is with a fixed butt, A version with a folding butt. It is basically an AK copy chambered for 5.56mm NATO ammunition, furnished with a muzzle-grenade launcher, and finished to higher standards. It accepts a straight magazine, making it quickly distinct from most AK-type weapons.
M80A with larger than standard magazine (http://www.wapahani.com/m80a.jpg)

M76 7.62x54R Sniper’s Rifle
A larger and more robust relative of the Yugoslav AK clones, configured for semi-automatic fire. It carries AK-type iron sights and can accept telescopic or electro-optical image-intensifying sights in addition. Some in Zapadslavian service appear to be fitted with a small guard to obscure the flare associated with case ejection in semi-automatic weapons.
Image! (http://www.trapper-industries.co.uk/airsoft/svdlong.jpg)

M82/M82A 5.56x45mm Light Machineguns
Squad machineguns based on the M80 series, with the A version again having a folding butt. They are basically heavy-barrel rifles with an attached bipod.

M84 7.62x54R General Purpose Machinegun
Not dissimilar to the Soviet PKM, this can be fired from a bipod or tripod, and has a thousand metre effective range against ground and air targets.
Image! (http://www.zastava-arms.co.yu/images/vojni/m86-m84/m84_2.jpg)

RPG-69Z
Zapadslav version of the Chinese version of the Russian RPG-7, this has a 300m range and 380mm armour-penetration ability. It uses several kinds of ammunition, including a tandem warhead to tackle ERA, anti-personnel airburst, and parachute-assisted illumination rounds. It is used to boost the firepower of infantry squads, and is used as a supplemental anti-tank weapon simply because it is cheaply and quickly produced.

Bumbar (Bumble Bee) ATGM
Tandem warhead, 1,000mm RHA penetration behind ERA, 60-600m range, over 90% single-shot hit probability, this is the ZUA’s best anti-tank weapon, but lacks some of RPG-69Z’s affordability and AT-4B’s range, limiting its issue.
Image! (http://naoruzanje.paracin.co.yu/bumbar2.jpg)

AT-4B Factoria ATGM
SACLOS guidance, 70m to 2,500m range, 550mm penetration, this is often carried by 3-man anti-tank teams.
Image! (http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/row/at-4-dast8906606_jpg-s.jpg)

(You may note that the Zapadslavian military is slightly less than uber hyper super tech, and that it relies primarily not upon Russian, British, French, American, German, or Chinese weaponry as usual, but imported, copied, and modified Yugoslavian equipment, in a desperate bid to stand out a little bit :) )

Imperial GIR-37 heavy assault rifle

The GIR-37 is the latest in Imperial small arms technology, designed to replace the dated XM-8, and provide a reliable firearm to suit the particular style of the often heavyhanded Imperial Praetorian Guard.

Sporting the capacity to store up to five fifty round clips in the patented GORT loading mechanism, the gas-powered GIR-37 provides the modern Imperial soldier the ability to lay down a stream of suppressing fire without giving thought to the clumsy business of in-combat reloading, also serving to practically eliminate the need for squad automatic weapons in Imperial infantry detachments.

Weighing in at a hefty 12 and 1/2 pounds, the rifle is accurate at ranges of up to 620 meters with a rate of fire of 800 RPM.

Under the standard uniform, a minimalized kevlar bodysuit, cross zippered/velcro will be worn., over the uniform a new tactical/bulletproof vest and holster rig will be worn instead of the old LCEs.
Also a new full length kneepad will be issued, and the old elbow pads will be worn(over the uniform) in some cases.
All new ruck and assault packs have been designed (to replace the old ALICE packs) with input from infantry soldiers and lessons learned in past conflicts
In additon to the standard weapons assortment (shown in pic and listed below) there are several specialty weapons, grenade and rocket launchers and machine guns as well as weapons add-ons availible for special missions.(these weapons can be found at the storefront or guns galore post)

Standard Military gear for Infantry in The Nine is the LEGION integrated combat and support system, basically an evolution of land warrior, the LEGION system has been adapted to meet the needs of a modern, tankless military. Armor is composed of Light Polycarbon composite inserts, the chest can take a small number of combat distance (greater than 50 yards) assault rifle caliber rounds. the system also incorporates new advances in loadbearing frames that allow each soldier to maximize their load out. each soldiers backpack contains a small laptop sized computing and communication package and module hub. which includes a 128 bit encrypted burst squad level communications radio, a 1048 bit encrypted burst syncronization system and IFF transponder, gps locators, integrated computing systems for application of modules. Much of the equipment in the LEGION system is made up of mudules such as the helmet, the weapon and other more specialized gear. The helmet contains a full Heads up display that can project a map with computed locations of nearby friends and foes, previously located mission objectives, land marks and enemy and friendly positions and can add up two 3x zoom to a soldiers view. weapons amunition readout. weather over view, weapon sights camera and information regarding other modules. the basic combat uniform is woven from organic crystalline fibers which react to electric impulses from the module hub to change color, stiffness, weave and albedo making for slightly adaptible camoflage that works against night sights, improved protection against blunt attacks, and broken limb stabilization and limited climate adapatation (looser in warm weather, tighter and more heat reflectie in colder weather, can be modified to individuals tastes). standard issue boots are selctively stiff going from combat boot to climbing shoe and back with the click of a switch and the turn of a knob. a standard load out would include; H&K G-11 Assault rifle with under barrel ordinance loader (grenades, shot gun shells, non fatal detterents, Light Anti Tank Rockets),1.5x colliminating sights (Night scope attachment in pack) and gun sight camera (linked to hub), MS-1 electric firing side arm (uses any unfired cased ammunition less than .45 caliber pistol) 3 grenades, LEGION LAW (reusable anti tank weapon.) three LL rockets, ammo for underbarrel weapon (depends on mission), variable combat knife (tactical folding, blade changes shape with electronic impulses). support weapons include Long Rifle (standard 1 per ten man squad, equiped with scope optimized for each weapon, scope camera for use with helmet, bipod.), OCSW (crew serviced weapon stadard 1 per 10 man squad), LEGION ATGM (Anti tank Guided Missile, standard 2 per ten man squad, guided by track ball included with firing system.), Various mission specific mines (anti tank, anti personel, anti light vehicle, claymore, seismic.)

Other Modules include; Counter sniper (1 per two man fire team, each soldier carries a reciever, when highly audible weapons fire is detcted, can triangulate positions of snipers or riflemen)
Range(range finding and targetting lasers, ladar and other systems for calibrating sniper fire or calling in fire support)
Officers (complete combat readout, includes all troop positions and calculated enemy positionsself destructs if bearer is killed or unexpectedly removed, also provides access to additional channels for radio and sattelite communication)
artillery (provides ability to tap Range modules in field for precise targetting information)

some special teams are currently field testing more advanced adaptive camoflage and armor, these systems are expected to be ready for standard issue in the next twenty years.

This is a basic, very basic overview. We have many more weapons, technology, etc. and this only serves to give a basic view of ARSB Infantry forcs.

Next Generation Soviet Bloc Infantry-
http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=7727073&postcount=7

The VEPR NGCS is not yet in full service, only seeing service with special forces and special government officials. Regular infantry see a variant of the system without the Muscle Acceleration System.

Standard Armaments
-------------------

RSR-51XA
Primary Round- 7.62x51R [Fires semi-auto, selective burst]
Secondary Round- 5.56x31mm (.221 Fireball) [fires 3 rd. burst, full auto]

Secondary barrel is on the bottom with action forward of the trigger. Fired with mechanical linkage.
Primary barrel is on top with the action in a bull-up configuration (to the rear of the trigger assembly). Fired with an electrical linkage.

RSR-39S
Primary Round- 7.62x39mm [Fires Semi-Auto, Burst, and Full Auto]

Available in carbine and full versions. ARSB's official special forces rifle.

RSP-45D
Primary Round- .45 ACP

Standard side-arm. Resembles M1911.

SAR-17 (Specialist Assault Rifle)
Primary Round- 12.7mm

This is a specialist assault rifle, designed for use only with trained professionals. It uses the same ammunition as many of our heavier MGs and was designed to give small infantry forces the selective fire power of a heavy, emplaced MG. Although it does not offer the high firing rates (it has a 20rd magazine) and is heavy, it does its job, ripping through lightly skinned vehicles and aiding in taking out infantry barricades. Recoil is heavily reduced through the aid of a compensator, active recoil reduction system, gel padding, and the recoil reduction system on the VEPR NGCS. Recoil, however, is still significant and is not recommended for continuous use. Weight is also significant but the VEPR NGCS system (especially with the muscle acceleration system) compensates for the added weight.
Callisdrun

Weapons:
http://kalashnikov.guns.ru/images/1031.gif

Active duty Callisdrunian forces use the AK-103 as their main weapon, with a few modifications. It is basically just an upgraded 7.62 AK assault rifle. All are modified to be held on adjustable straps that go over a soldier's shoulders, most are modified in other ways as well, many are given new barrels to improve accuracy. Many special forces units also add improved sights to their weapons.

http://www.mil.ee/im/varustus/relvapilt/mg-3.jpg

Machine guns are more the choice of the unit than anything else. This is an MG-3, basically a redesigned MG-42 that fires 7.62 rounds.

http://world.guns.ru/machine/hk43feed.jpg

Lately, the MG-43 has become quite popular among machine gunners. It takes a 5.56 round, unlike most Callisdrunian weapons, but factories have been able to produce enough ammunition anyway.

http://www.deerstalker.com/trg-42_black_steel.jpg
In Callisdrun's large Sniper Brigade, the soldier generally picks the weapon he/she is most comfortable with. Sako rifles, such as the TRG-42 are quite popular and most snipers use similar rifles.

A small portion of Callisdrun's Sniper Brigade uses larger sniple rifles like this one, the KSVK 12.7, however, they are not favored as highly as the smaller, lighter weapons because of the decreased mobility when using them.

In addition, almost every soldier carries a one handed battle axe for very close quarters combat on his/her belt. It's a tradition going back a few thousand years.

The standard infantry helmet looks something like a Russian WWII era helmet. They generally wear trench coats, black or brown trench coats, and in the forests are very hard to see. Mountain/tree climbing equipment is commonly used to gain a better position. Like most of Callisdrun's military, the infantry are geared towards a defensive war. In winter, troops assigned to the Plains of Sorrow will wear white to better blend in with the tundra.

These two were the early concept of the now Nycton uniform. The current Nycton uniform issued to all services looks exactly below, only with digital/pixelated camoflouge.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v313/nycto/Nyctonsoldier.bmp
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v313/nycto/Nyctonsoldier2.bmp

The Nycton soldier is equipped with a flaslight on the helmet, fibre optic camera on the other side, and fibre optic video moniter in the eye piece. It enables it to easily contact other soldiers and commanders through advanced satellite radio, Soldiers will also be able to share data with vehicles, aircraft and other individual soldiers. The onboard computer will monitor soldier's overall physiological picture of how they are performing in the battle zone. It gives the soldier's body core temperature, skin temperature, heart rate, whether the soldier is standing or prone, and how much water the soldier has drunk, weather conditions, and more.

The hard body armor has been stood off of the body by 2½ to 3 inches, so when the soldier is shot, the force is more evenly distributed to decrease injuries such as broken ribs. Battle ready soldiers weight is only 55 lbs as well.

http://world.guns.ru/assault/as61-e.htm
The Nycton infantry is issued all varients 4 of the varients of the (X)M-8 Rifle. The basic infantry configuration has a 12.5" barrel, compact with 9.5, and the SAW/Close-Sniper with 20."

http://world.guns.ru/handguns/hg57-e.htm
The pistol used by the Nycton military is the CZ-G2000. Handgun has polymer frame, classic browning-style linkless design with locking via slide extraction port. Other features are automatic firing pin safety, slide mounted manual safety and loaded chamber indicator. All officers, all ship crewman, and pilots are issued with them. Some lower ranks are issued with them varrying on tasks.

The Spectre-A program is creating Super-Soldiers(More information on request, kind of classified as of right now). The below is the uniform for them.

While I will not go into depth on how the unique system of the worker militias work, here are some images of the often grassroot infantry from the FPCB, and also, the usual array of equipment they use.

This should be regarded as OOC information.

http://www.photoza.co.za/GUY%206%20Civil%20Defence%20Force%20militia%20(Kamajoors)%20near%20Koidu,%20Sierra%20Leone,%202001.j pg
FPCB guerillas operating in Peru during the Shining Path rebellion

The FPCB's units are not strictly organized like that of a tradtional, centralized military. They have been structured so they may never oppress the people, because they are the people. While they may not have the same funding as other forms of the military, they are very well trained, thanks to Brazil's harsh enviroments, and are experts at guerilla tactics. They are not built for the frontlines of trench warfare, but they are superb in urban and wilderness warfare, but that is not all that FPCB militiamen are built for. They are not just taught the three 'basics' an infantry must know, Run, Kill, and Communicate.

They also are taught to Think. This is a fundemental part of the militias, as they fight not just a guerilla war, but a meme war of propaganda.

http://graffitiverite.com/The_Street_Phantom/Falsesecurity.JPG
http://graffitiverite.com/The_Street_Phantom/LostwillandCause.JPG
Graffiti is legal in the FPCB, and is a propoganda tactic used by its militias, most noted by its "Street Phantom" tactic shown.

Another advantage of the grassroots system of the militias is their ability to connect with the people, bolstering their ranks. They are very independent, each cell is a seperate entity, but together, they are a colony of seperate forces working together in union. Its a rather effective system that deepens the self-sufficiency of each soldier and unit, while keeping a sense of loyalty, nationalism, and unity among the militias.

http://www.nadir.org/nadir/initiativ/kurdi-almani-kassel/aktuell/pixel/guerilla.jpg
Female FPCB militant working for the liberation of the Tunisian people.

Another thing to note is the importancve of the woman in the military. Service in the militias is compulsory for all FPCB citizens, although they can pout off their service until they receive their free college education from the government, and serve their duty after their education is over. This include women, who are not just reduced to logisitical roles.

The FPCB has made great advances in the lbieration and lossening of gender roles across the entirety of the nation, as the feminist movement is very strong. Much of the government (approx. 45%) officials are women, although they are working at making the balance even higher.

In the militias, women are integral, and are treated just as the men ,given no special treatment, but are not demeaned either. There are some seperate militias made entirely of women, jsut as there are made of men, though these are oddities, and considered counter-revolutionary.

On a side note, there is also no restrictions on one's sexuality while in the military. However, it is a serious breach of conduct for a person in the militia ever rape while on or off duty. Rape is the highest crime in the FPCB, and they are dealt with even more harshly in the military. However, homosexuality and relations within the military are not looked upon if they are kept within conduct and not in the way of the militia's goals.

Weapons

Different militias have different weapons, usually determined by their objectives. However, the government supplies a package to every soldier into the militia with the following equipment, it is up to the unit to provide any optional equipment.

- UM21 Military Backpack System
- AN/URC-100 series radio
- Taurus PT 100 Handgun

UM21 Military Backpack System

http://store1.yimg.com/I/uniforms-911_1805_5043925

This is a carry system with enormous capability for urban, jungle, desert, mountain, or arctic warfare. This full system is comprised of the Backpack, Patrol Pack, and the Butt Pack. When used as a complete system, the Backpack stores the other two packs inside, to be deployed as missions demand. Huge volume (over 8700 cubic inches) and modularity allow the user to be self sustained in the field. An ergonomic and densely padded suspension, and waistbelt, comfortably support heavy loads. A compression panel doubles as a seat, and multiple compression straps stabilize the load. There are multiple attachment points for easy accessorization, a separate sleeping bag compartment, and four added-capacity pockets round out this amazing system.

AN/URC-100 Series Radio

The Motorola AN/URC-100 series of radios evolved from the PT-25A Portable Emergency Transceiver (1978). Prior to nomenclature assignment, the original AN/URC-100 (NSN 5820-01-112-0176) was known as the PRT-250 (Motorola model number). The design concept of the URC series is to develop a multi-purpose radio system that would accommodate manpack, aircraft, shipboard and vehicular uses in the VHF and UHF air bands. The design is fully solid state and fully synthesized. As a manpack set, the radio is nomenclatured the AN/URC-100. In an LOS/SATCOM configurations, it is known as the AN/URC-101 (NSN 5820-01-112-0177). For SATCOM applications, the URC-101 had both transmitter output power and receiver sensitivity increased. Modes of operation for the URC-100 & URC-101 include AM or FM clear or secure voice and a 300 Hz to 2.5 kHz linear swept baseband beacon signal. Both sets have a frequency range of 116 to 150 MHz and 225 to 400 MHz in 25 kHz steps.

The first variation of the URC-100 appears as the AN/URC-100(V) which replaced the original 116 to 150 MHz VHF band with the tactical 30 to 88 MHz band and saw the addition of the standard 150 Hz squelch tone for compatibility with the VRC-12 series and the PRC-25, PRC-77 series of radio sets.

The variations in the URC-101 include a AN/URC-101(V) which is deemed a data transceiver. The changes include 5 kHz channel spacing in the 116 to 150 and 225 to 400 MHz bands. Also, this unit saw the addition of extra RF connectors to the front panel labeled IF, UHF OUT and UHF IN located on the far left of the transceiver between the HANDSET and the UHF ANTENNA connectors. The connectors provide 70 MHz IF baseband compatibility for use with the Motorola PM-15 Adaptive Tactical Modem.

A second variation to the URC-101 includes a VHF band change from the 116 to 150 MHz band to the 100 to174 MHz band in the FM mode only with a 2.5 and 25 kHz spacing and is nomenclatured the AN/URC-101(V)2. The UHF band remains unchanged and the output RF power is 1.5 or 5 Watts.

With the progression of time and the requirements for a tactical VHF/UHF transceiver, with nomenclature that would stop all confusions of "which band does this radio operate on?", Motorola released the AN/URC-104 (NSN 5820-01-131-5674) and the AN/URC-111 (NSN 5820-01-152-3185) respectively. Both sets feature operability in the 30 to 88 MHz band with 150 Hz squelch tone and 225 to 400 MHz band. Channel spacing is 25 kHz. The design principals are for a radio set that is suitable for ground-to-air/air-to-ground and tactical point-to-point operations. The units also operate in clear or secure voice or data modes and are compatible with the KY-57, KY-58 cypher equipment. All previous URC features are included in these current version radios.

Also introduced at the same time is a specific data transceiver known as the AN/URC-110 (NSN 5820-01-151-4199). The URC-110 operates in the 116 to 150 MHz band and in the 225 to 400 MHz band in 5 kHz steps. The URC-110 is designed with a low noise synthesizer to permit operation with tactical modems such as the Motorola PM-15A and meets satellite architecture requirements. The URC-110 can also function as a repeater/frequency translator.

For LOS/SATCOM use, the AN/URC-112 (NSN 5820-01-151-4198) was introduced and is labeled as an "LOS/SATCOM transceiver". Frequency coverage includes 160 to 172 MHz with 2.5 kHz channel spacing and 225 to 416 MHz with 25 kHz channel spacing. The URC-112 can be made compatible with the AN/UYA-7 & AN/GYC-8 transceivers and the AN/UGC-129 and AN/UGC-74 message devices. The URC-112 will operate in the appropriate mode with the AN/ARC-164, AN/ARC-171 and the AN/WSC-3 transceivers.

Some accessories for the above radio sets includes various AC, DC, AC/DC power supplies and battery boxes, antennae, modems etc... The most varied accessory appears to be the battery box. For the most part the "box" or enclosure appears to be common but the inserts vary from a PRC-25 battery insert, a Lithium battery insert PL-1500/URC (PTL-110A) which uses 2 BA-5590/U Lithium batteries, a NiCad battery insert (PP-7962/URC (PTMG-120)) with build-in multi-voltage charger which uses 2 BB-590/U batteries and a rechargeable NiCad "D" cell box complete with built-in 120/240 VAC charger. Further power sources include a 28 VDC adapter box which employs standard VRC series DC connectors and a universal power supply, the PP-7961/URC (Motorola number PTAD-101A) which includes input voltages from 120/240 VAC and 24 VDC.

The modem, PM-15, is an Adaptive Tactical Modem operating at 300, 1200 and 2400 bits/s. This unit requires a 70 MHz RF interface and 1 BA-5590/U or BB-590/U battery to operate. Modulation formats are differentially encoded bi-phase shift keying (dbpsk) for the 200 and 1200 bits/s modes and, differentially encoded quadraphase shift keying (dqpsk) in the 2400 bits/s mode.

Also available is a UHF, 200 Watts RF linear power amplifier nomenclatured the AM-7175/URC (NSN 5895-01-175-9853). The AM-7175/URC is a variable, 50 to 200 Watts, (by a rotary knob on the front panel) output RF power amplifier that operates in the AM, FM and CW mode and will deliver 50 Watts in AM (200 Watts peek) and 200 Watts in FM mode, requires a 2 to 25 Watt input RF power drive.

To aid in the rapid test and service of the various transceivers, Motorola also introduced the PTPT-100 Radio Test Set. The unit can be employed to verify the radio's performance, for troubleshooting faulty equipment, and to perform radio adjustments such as frequency, transmitter power and modulation.

Taurus PT 100

http://world.guns.ru/handguns/taurus_pt100.jpg

Type: Double Action (DA with Decocker in models AF-D)
Chamber: .40S&W
Weight unloaded: ca. 960 g empty
Length: 216 mm
Barrel length: 127 mm
Capacity: 15 rounds

The Taurus pistols were manufactured by Brazilian company Forjas Taurus SA until the design was nationalized by the goverment and then redistributed. The original PT92 pistol was exact copy of the original Beretta 92 pistol, and PT92 still carries some of the original Beretta features, such as frame mounted safety, but, since its introduction, Taurus PT92 had been significantly improved, and currently represents affordable pistol of high quality.

Technically, PT92 is a recoil operated, locked brech pistol, that uses shor recoiling barrel with underbarrel locking piece that tilts down to unlock slide from the barrel (Walther P38 / Beretta 92 type locking). The trigger is of Double Action type, with ambidextrous frame mounted manual safety. On models marked AF-D safety also acts as a decocker when pressed all the way down (below the "fire" position). When safety is in "safe" position, it locks the slide and disconnects the trigger and sear. Current PT92 and its derivatives also featured automatic firing pin safety. The frame and slide could be made either from carbon steel with blue finish or from stainless steel wit polished finish. Sights are of fixed type.

IMBEL MD-2/3

These assault rifles were accepted into the Brazilian military when the LAPA's exotic looks and construction were not readily accepted by the Brazilian soldiers. It was also easier and cheaper to simply produce a scaled-down version of the Light Automatic Rifle (the Brazilian name for the FN FAL) than a new, exotic rifle that required extensive retooling of the weapons factories and retraining or troops. The MD-2 and MD-3 are standard-pattern assault rifles that bear some resemblance to the FNC, but are in fact a local design. They use M-16 magazines, and 40% of the parts of the MD-2 and MD-3 are interchangeable with those of the LAR/FN FAL. The MD-3 has a fixed stock, and the MD-2 has a folding stock. This weapon is used by both military and police forces, and a civilian semiautomatic only version is produced. (In civilian guise, the weapons are known as the MD-2A1 and MD-3A1, respectively.)

Enarm MSM-1 Submachine Gun

The MSM (Mini Sub Metralhadora) began as a joint venture between established firms maker LAPA, and a metallurgical firm named HAGA in 1985. The intent was to create
a compact submachine gun for use among law enforcement and military users both domestically and abroad. ENARM was actually the name of the firm created to sell and market the weapon. The design is a conventional blowback one with a telescoping stock which allows the weapon to be stabilized when firing at longer ranges. The weapon was ahead of it's time in that it was available with an optional forward hand grip to assist when firing bursts. The design all but languished, ultimately it faded from memory until the events of the Third World War. The Brazilian government was in need of armaments to issue to their Naval and Air Force pilots, a former employee of Enarm procured a copy
of the MSM and provided it as a test weapon.

It stood up well during the make shift tests against other designs such as the Ingram MAC-11, the Micro-Uzi and others. A contract was given to the newly formed ENARM
firm who quickly began trying to establish a makeshift factory to keep up with the order
of 600 items to begin with. There are confirmed reports that the military had taken an interest once again in the design before the November Nuclear Exchange, seeing how most the of the countries assets are intact it is not known if production continued or was suspended.

This is the Yugoslavian SKS "carbine". It's the preferred weapon of militia cavalry divisions in P3X1299, because of the fact that it has flip-up night sights, a grenade sight, with an internal magazine, a rifle-grenade launcher, a folding bayonet, is an extremely rugged design, has storage for a cleaning kit, and can also be fired either in semi-automatic or bolt action mode. Also, the SKS is an extremely reliable combat rifle, which is a must for the cavalry which often operates away from extensive support.

While I myself don't, I think I can see a few advantages in doing so. I think the major reason is that the troops would be protected from chemical and biological weapons.

You know i have no army, but guys the land warrior system is a prototype. It is far to fidly to be used in real combat situation. The most modest armour so far has been the one ripped off from starship troopers(the dumb movie too). So first the one from Final Fantasy Movie, no one could possibly belive that you will play fair for goodness sake, they had force fields and infantry laser guns. The one from the "halokiller" from what i see that is just as advanced as Final Fantasy, befor you pull out they don't have energy wepons, i dont care laser for infantry is almost imposslibe anyway. You all need a giant humble pie each.

Only my 150 Spectre troopers used space-looking suits. It's for NBC protection and it has some special feature monitors in the helmet.
And you RP them not being able to move very well and getting really uncomfortable and generally having their armour get in their way all the time? I mean there is actually a region that modern armies dont get their men to wear ballistic ceramic shells.

There not even in service yet, and the suits arn't even completed. The uniform itself is actually slightly heavier than my normal infantry's uniform. They only have chest kevlar. The helmet is the only slightly unconfortable part of the body is the helmet. They can pull the monitorback if needed.

Normal NBC suits are very constrictive and uncomfortable. That's why they didnt wear them all the time in Iraq.

AEK-971 standard assault rifle for Pushkan army special ops division

http://world.guns.ru/assault/aek971_545.jpg

Caliber: 7.62x39mm and 5.45x39mm
Action: Gas operated, rotating bolt, balanced
Overall length: 965 mm
Barrel length: ?? mm
Weigth: 3.3 kg without magazine
Magazine capacity: 30 rds, all standart AK-47 or AK-74 magazines depending on caliber

AEK971 is being developed at Kovrov Machinebuilding Plant (formerly known as Kovrov Machineguns Plant) by chief designer S.I.Koksharov.
Key feature of the AEK971 is gas driven, balanced action with rotating bolt barrel locking. Balancing mean that AEK971 gas drive has two gas chambers and two gas pistons. First gas piston is linked wia gas rod to the bolt carrier an moves as usual. Second gas piston is linked to the balancing msteel weight and moves in opposite (to main gas piston) direction. This design is implemented to eliminate 3 of 4 total impulces of the movement that affect rifle during the full-auto fire. 1st impulse rifle received when bullet moves along the barrel - this is recoil itself. Second impulse rifle received when heavy bolt carrier/bolt group moves along the receiver back and forth. Third impulse is received when bolt carrier/bolt group stops in the rear position and fourth - when this group stops in forward position after new cartridge is chambered. Synchronous and opposite movement of the balancing weight eliminates all except the recoil impulse, so rifle becomes far more stable during full-auto fire.
The gain of accuracy in full auto is whole 15-20%, when compared to AK-74 asault rifle in the same kaliber. The newly adopted by Russian army AN-94 assault rifle has slight edge over the AEK974 only in short burst (2 rounds only) mode. In full-auto medium or long bursrt fire mode (3-5 or 7-10 rounds per burst) AEK974 wins hands down, being also some 0.5kg lighter than AN-94, simplier and cheaper to manufacture.
At the present time AEK971 in both 5.45x39mm and 7.62x39mm chamberings is being tested by Russain army in some quantities (my sources said that at least one hundred of AEK971s in 7.62mm was aquired by Russian army for field testing).
AEK971 has folding metall buttsock with plastic coating (to protect shooter in extremely hot or cold conditions), plastic forearm and fire control grip, and uses standart AK-47 or AK-74 30rds magazines (depending on chamberings). It also features safety switch/fire mode selector of diferent appearance (when compared to Kalashnikow design). Fire selector allows 2 modes of fire - single shots semi-auto and full auto. At some 800-900 rounds per second it's not impossible to manually control lenght of the fire bursrts, and this weapon is more stable during the fire than ordinal design rifles, so 2 or 3 rounds mode is not implemented (at least, at this time).

AK-108 regular army standard assault rifle

http://world.guns.ru/assault/ak-107.jpg

Caliber, mm: 5,45x39 (5,56NATO for AK108)
Action: Gas operated, rotating bolt with 2 lugs, balanced bolt-carrier/bolt group to reduce recoil jumping
Length, mm: overall: 943; w. stock folded 700;
barrel lenght: 415 mm
Sighting range,m: 1000
Weigth, g: 3,400
Magazine capacity, rds: 30
Rate of fire, rds/min: 850 . (900 for AK108)

New modification of AK design - this time with balanced automatic gas driven engine. "Balanced" means that this system has 2 opposite moving gas pistons instead of one. main gas piston drives bolt carrier (via gas rod), secondary piston drives compensating mass (via its own rod) in direction, opposite to bolt carrier. This movement greatly reduced muzzle jump and increased accuracy in full-auto mode.

Dragunov SVD standard sniper rifle used by regular army and special ops teams, standard caliber

http://world.guns.ru/sniper/svd_new.jpg

Caliber: Russian 7.62x54mm Rimmed
Operation: gas operated, short stroke, rotating bolt; semi-automatic
Capacity: 10 round detachable box magazine
Weight: 4.31kg empty with telescope
Length: 1225 mm
Barrel Length: 620 mm
Max Rate of Fire: 30 RPM
Aimed Rate of Fire: 3-5 RPM
Scope Type: PSO-1 with illuminated reticle
Accuracy: less than 2MOA at 600m

SVD was designed not as a standart sniper rifle. In fact, main role of the SVD ir Soviet / Russian Army is to extend effective range of fire of every infantry squad up to 600 meters and to provide special fire support. SVD is a lightweight and quite accurate (for it's class) rifle, cabable of semi-auto fire. First request for new sniper rifle was issued in 1958. In 1963 SVD (Snaiperskaya Vintovka Dragunova, or Dragunov Sniper Rifle) was accepted by Soviet Military. SVD can use any kind of standart 7.62x54R ammo, but primary round is specially developed for SVD sniper-grade cartridge with steel-core bullet. Every infantry squad in the Russian (Soviet) army had one man with SVD.
SVD is extremely reliable in all conditions, and designed for heavy battles. It has backup ajustable iron sights as a standart option, as well as a bayonet mount (standart AK-47 bayonet type).
Latest modernisation incorporate rugged polymer stock. Also, for mounted and airborne troops developed variant with folding buttsock and shortened barrel (590 mm). New flash hider/muzzle brake also installed.
All modifications of SVD passed many real battle tests during Afghan war as well as many other local conflicts, including latest Chechen wars. SVD was widely used and copied across the former Warshaw pact countries and still in service with Russian Army and many Russian Law Enforcement agencies (as well in oter CIS countries).

OSV-96 large calibre rifle used by both regular army and special ops.

http://world.guns.ru/sniper/osv96.jpg

The OSV-96 12.7mm sniper rifle began its life during early 1990s as V-94. Designed and developed at famous KBP (Instrument Design Bureau) in Tula. During following years rifle incorporated several improvements, and was eventually re-designated as OSV-96. It is offered for export and local buyers, and apparently is used in small numbers by MVD troops in Chechnya.

The OSV-96 is a gas operated, rotating bolt semiautomatic rifle. The bolt locks directly to the barrel extension, so it is possible to made a hinge between the barrel and receiver. When not in use, the OSV-96 could be "folded" around this hinge to save the space, since the rifle is quite long. This feature also allows for quick transformation from folded into battle-ready position. The long barrel is free-floated, and fitted with long combination muzzle brake - flash hider. The integral folding bipods are mounted on the special console, attached to the base of the barrel, next to the hinge point. The polymer buttstock is fitted with rubber recoil pad. OSV-96 is usually fitted with some sort of telescope or night vision sight, but also carries a set of back-up iron sights.

The exact accuracy data of the OSV-96 is not yet published, but, apparently, it is enough for intended work as a anti-materiel rifle or mid-range counter-sniper rifle.

standard handgun Yarygin PYa / MP-443 "Grach" pistol

http://world.guns.ru/handguns/pya-l.jpg

Type: Double Action
Caliber: 9x19 mm 7N21 (9mm Luger/Para)
Weight unloaded: 950 g (with empty magazine)
Length: 198 mm
Barrel length: 112 mm
Capacity: 17 rounds

The PYa (Pistolet Yarygina - Yarygin pistol) was developed for the Russian Army trials, codenamed "Grach" (rook). These trials were started by issuing initial requirements for a new military pistol in 1993. Than new pistol should had have a DA trigger, large capacity magazine, all steel construction and be able to be converted into 9x18 PM and PMM, 9x19mm Luger, and 7.62x25mm TT chamberings. Later on, the multicaliber option was dropped from military requirements, and in the late 1990s Russian army settled on the improved version of the worlds' most popular 9mm Luger/Parabellum round, very hot loaded (peak pressure generated by 7N21 is well beyond 9mm +P standards) and fitted with armour piercing bullet with hardened steel core. Several designs were submitted to the trials, but eventual winner was the pistol, designed at the state Izhevsk Mechanical Plant by the Vladimir Yarygin. This pistol, initially known as the 6P35 (military index during trials) or as MP-443 "Grach" (manufacturer's designation), now is officially adopted by the Russian Government for Military and Law Enforcement use under the PYa designation, and already issued to some Russian Army units, most probably located in Chechnya.

In those ages of lightweight alloys and plastics, and complicated trigger systems, the all steel DA pistol may look little outdated and conservative, but, in my opinion, there's nothing wrong with the conservative approach, especially if it the result is well balanced and fits the intended niche well, which PYa does. I had the chance to examine the production pistol, as well as to see it in action (during Russian Law Enforcement IPSC competition, held in September, 2003, near the St.Petersburg). For me, PYa appeared as a well balanced, sturdy pistol with adequate accuracy and decent firepower. The only things that could be improved, in my opinion, are the fixed sights, and the shape of the polymer grip panels, that felt too angular in my palm.

The PYa is a short recoil operated, locked breech pistol. It uses a modified Browning "High Power"-style locking, with the cammed slot under the barrel, that is used to lock and unlock the single lug on the barrel with the ejection window in the slide. The slide and frame are made from carbon steel, the barrel is made from stainless steel. The conventional DA trigger features an ambidextrous manual safety on the frame, that could lock the hammer either in lowered or in cocked position, allowing for "cocked and locked" mode carry. There's no decocker, and additional automated safety is built into the system, that locks the firing pin when trigger is not pressed. The external hammer on production pistols is partially enclosed from the sides by the slide extensions, to facilitate snag-proof handling. Front sight is machined with the slide, rear sight is dovetailed into the same. Both sights featured white non-luminous inserts (tritium-filled "night" sights available as option). Wrap-around grip panels are made from polymer, and the grip is provided with the lanyard ring. Button-operated magazine release is located at the base of the triggerguard, and can be mounted on either side of the frame, depending on the user preferences (easily re-installed by the user itself in a minute). Dual stack magazines are made from steel and hold 17 rounds of 9x19mm ammunition, plus one in chamber. There's also some information that a 18-rounds magazine will be introduced for PYa in 2004.

NTW-20 anti-materiel rifle

http://world.guns.ru/sniper/ntw20_1.jpg

Caliber 20 x 83.5 mm MG151 14.5 x 114 mm Russian
Operation manual bolt action
Barrel length 1000 mm 1220 mm
Weight 26 kg 29 kg
Length 1795 mm 2015 mm
Feed Mechanism detachable box magazine, 3 rounds
Maximum effective range 1500+ meters 2300+ meters

This rifle was designed in the early to mid 1990s by South African arms designer Tony Neophytou, who also took its part in designing the Neostead combat shotgun. Initial development was under the Aerotek name, and later the Mechem division of the DENEL Group, a major South African arms manufacturer, purchased all rights for this design. In the 1998 South African National Defense Forces adopted this weapon and began to purchase it in some numbers. It is also offered for export sales. The NTW-20 is a long range anti-materiel rifle, developed to reach out across wide plains of South African landscape and to deliver substantial firepower in a relatively compact, two men portable package. It is available in two versions, 20mm and 14.5mm, and could be easily converted from one variant to another by simple replacement of the barrel, bolt, magazine and scope, which will take about 1 minute in the field conditions. These two versions had slightly different applications: 20mm version, built around WW2-era German MG-151 aircraft gun round, can deliver high explosive, fragmentation or incendiary shells with good accuracy, so a relatively "soft" targets could be disabled by the blast and / or fragments. When the long range and armor penetration is an issue, the 14.5mm version comes into the play. It is built around another WW2-era round, Soviet 14.5mm high velocity, armor-piercing cartridge, developed for PTRD and PTRS anti-tank rifles and still widely used in Russian KPV / KPVT heavy machine guns on armored cars and in anti-aircraft mounts. While probably not so accurate as the specially developed .50BMG (12.7x99mm) rifles, mostly due to unavailability of the "match grade" ammunition in the 14.5mm and 20mm, NTW-20 offers significantly more terminal effectiveness than any .50BMG rifle / round combination. 20 mm version could be most effective against targets like parked aircrafts and helicopters, command and communications equipment, radar cabins, fuel dumps, unarmored cars. 14.5 mm version will be more effective against armored personnel carriers or relatively large "soft" targets at extended ranges. Anti-personnel work is by no means a primary task for this huge rifle.

NTW-20 is a manually operated, rotating bolt action rifle. The barrel is locked by the rotating bolt that has 6 lugs. The barrel along with the receiver could recoil inside the chassis frame against combined hydraulic and pneumatic damping system. Large two-chamber muzzle brake also helps to keep recoil at the acceptable level. NTW-20 is fed from the detachable box magazine, that is inserted from the left side and holds 3 rounds. The rifle could be disassembled and carried in two man-portable packs, each weighting about 12 - 15 kg. One pack carries the frame, stock, butt and bipod while the other carries the barrel, sighting equipment
and magazines. NTW-20 is equipped with a 8X magnification, long eye relief telescopic sight on the quick detachable mount. No open sight are fitted by default. The folding bipod is mounted under the receiver, and a non-folding frame above the receiver serves as a carrying handle and a scope protection bracket.

Maybe if you read what I posted you wouldn't make yourself sound like a total idiot. Did I say anything about shields? How about laser weapons? I didn't think so. I simply used the pick for my armor. What's wrong with that? Before you start insulting everyone, why not read what they posted? It helps.

I'm going to have to agree with Albinoism here. You're coming off like a total moron. First off, how does the system I'm using look as advanced as the Final Fantasy one? Unless glowy eyed helmets means future technology to you. And again there isn't any evidence at all of force fields or lasers in the first place. Did you even look at any of the other stuff? And besides, if every nation had the same damn stuff it wouldn't be very interesting.

I mean NS should be realistic to fault, but each nation needs its own little unique quirks. Sure my armor might be impracticle in a realworld sense, but it looks cool in my opinion, which is why I'm using it. Besides, it doesn't mean I'm going to get all godmoddy with it.

OOC: It is kinda funny how people copy stuff from Halo 2and Starship troopers. I shouldn't complain, some of my stuff is from Space: Above and Beyond.
As for space suits, my MT-PTF nation (2020-2060 timeframe) we have space stations (not really any better then the International Space station, slightly roomier though), and since I'm very miltant ruler, I have a special unit of Marines who are assigned to them. These Marines are issued full standard EVA suits, which the only difference from them and the Civillian suits is the MK.III armor componants. And yes, it is hard to move, but the sealed suits are almost never used EVA for combat, in fact, combat rarely happens up there. Instead, they remain inside, the suits being a precaution incase something goes seriously wrong. The standard MK.III EVA armor is not exactly a good thing to use in the emptyness of space as it's radiation protection is very limited, it's only real good side is it's completely sealed off from the outside, and self sufficient for up to 12 hours.
That said, sometimes I do deply the Space Marines on the ground, and at those times the suits are quite useful. Lots of time and money was speant making the suits comfortable and easy to use, even so the pack that makes it what it is is heavy, and only the top Marines get to even try out for the Space Marine units.
My Assault Marines use a variation of the Mk.III armor which is not quite as complex, it's mostly the armor, and helmet, but instead of the standard Atmosphere pack, they carry something much smaller and lighter with air filters for the air around, and only a 15 min supply of air as a backup.

And for NBC warfare, I use Chemical weapons, and I havn't been nuked for it yet. Anyone who thinks a gas attack on soldiers is reason to nuke the other guy to oblivion is worth ignoring.

Mestionian
25-12-2004, 02:48
Note:
Mestionian does not have a standard Army. Her Marine Corps, though it numbers over three million strong, is still considered a branch of the Mestionian Navy, and so all uniforms, and rank insignia remain the same except in the enlisted ranks.

Standard Non-Combat Uniform for Mestionian Navy:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v295/mesthead115/Kriegsmarine.jpg (Officer)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v295/mesthead115/usmc-2002.jpg (enlisted)

Note:
Enlisted men serving in the Marine Corps wear a brown uniform to distinguish them from standard sailors aboard ship. Officers in the Marine Corps still wear the standard Naval officer's uniform for simple tradition's sake.

Standard Combat Uniform for Mestionian Navy:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v295/mesthead115/new_usn_uniform.jpg

Weapons:

Sidearm: MCP-1
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v295/mesthead115/MCP-1.jpg
The MCP-1 tactical pistol is a forty caliber pistol with a standard magazine capacity of twenty rounds. Additionally, the weapon has a lower undercarry shotgun that holds up to three flechette or 00 Buck shells.

Primary Rifle: MCR - 3
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v295/mesthead115/MoritaR02.jpg
The MCR-3 standard issue assault rifle fires a 5.56 by 45mm round out of a forty round detachable box magazine. It also comes equipped with a shotgun undercarry capable of holding up to ten flechette or 00 Buck shells.

Carbine: MCR -3A6
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v295/mesthead115/CupCarb1.bmp
The MCR -3A6 is nearly identical to its older brother, but has a shorter barrel and is only capable of holding seven shells of shotgun ammunition.

Anti-Armor/Aircraft: AA-12
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v295/mesthead115/Nuke10.jpg

The AA-12 doubles as both an anti-armor and anti-aircraft weapon. It fires a single 70mm rocket tipped with depleted uranium at ranges up to seven miles. Different rockets exist for different purposes, some explode into hundreds of shards of shrapnel, while others explode into balls of flame capable of melting even the highest grade steel.

The Clerics:
Clerics are a special breed of soldier within the Mestionian ranks, in that they answer to no one, and have no recognizable chain of command. They belong to the ancient Order of the White Stone, a secret society whose members dedicate their lives to the security of peaceful peoples throughout the world. Though they are dedicated to the preservation of peace, they are incredibly skilled soldiers, raised since the age of seven within the confines of their monestaries, and instructed in the arts of war. They are experts with all Mestionian weapons, as well as hundreds of foreign weapons.

Cleric's Uniform:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v295/mesthead115/equilibriumpubd.jpg

The Cleric's standard uniform is made of a flame-resistant material that simultaneously acts as a quasi-armor against some small arms fire. It is comprised of a black tunic, pants, gloves, and boots.

Cleric's Standard Weapon: The Liberator 3
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v295/mesthead115/BattyClericSidearmMD.jpg

The Liberator 3 is the latest marvel of Mestionian engineering. This double action pistol carries sixteen forty caliber rounds in a detachable, grip-inserted magazine. Each round is tipped with a special polymer substance, effectively making every round armor-penetrating. Initial testing has seen the ammunition capable of punching through nearly two inches of solid steel plating. Each weapon also comes equipped with a standard flash-suppressor and tactical side-holster.

A system such as Felin isnt that implausible, if you are near-future. Its a matter of bringing it together, more than getting the tech, and people who stick in one time, have all the time they need.

Antarctica123 now mainly utilizes 7.62x51mm NATO ammunition, abandoning the 5.56mm series of weapons(m16, M-4, M24) in favor of the more accurate and powerful round.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v293/grunt74/antinf.gif
Antarctica manufactures all of its infantry weapons, the rights bought from the famous comapny; FN-Herstal, of Belgium.
In addition to the 3 main weapons, solders are issued a fighting knife, much like this one

and a pistol, either one of the H&K USP family[left] (mainly in .45 ACP, although sometimes in 9mm or .357) or a custom line of SIG-Sauer P200s[right] (in 9mm, .38,
.45 ACPor .357) Occasionaly a modified Desert Eagle known as the "Arctic Eagle", which has higher capcity and is chambered in a special .454 round, is issued to SOF and some infantry units and/or officers.)

Tujima
25-12-2004, 06:14
The Imperial Guards of Tujima have no set uniform, but they usually wear something resembling the following:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v295/mesthead115/clothes_ninja_uniform.jpg

Weapons:

The Empire of Tujima is primitive my contemporary standards, but their weapons are truly remarkable.

Swords:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v295/mesthead115/samurai_6.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v295/mesthead115/samurai_5.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v295/mesthead115/samurai_3.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v295/mesthead115/samurai_1.jpg

Each sword is made of folded steel, and sharpened to a razor edge. The Imperial Guards are raised from birth to serve the Emperor and are trained extensively in the use of their swords.

Bows:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v295/mesthead115/bow.jpg

Not your typical bow and arrow set by any stretch. Each bow is hand-crafted and strung by its user, and the arrows are made of specially forged steel, which when coupled with a good shot, makes for quite an unpleasant experience for any enemy.

Regular Army:
The regular Army of Tujima is somewhat non-existant until conscription orders are issued by the Emperor, but the regular army is usually equipped with spears, pikes, or other such generic weapons.

Navira
25-12-2004, 08:45
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v293/grunt74/NS2/naviras.jpg
Navira's forces use the following weapons:
.42 Caliber Double-Action Pistol
12 inch Tanto (Combat Knife)
Double Barrel .12 gauge Shotgun
Semi-Automatic Belt-Fed 6.8mm Carbine w/ battle axe attachment
Fragmenting Grenade w/ pin style detenator
Waterproof TNT w/ spark detonator
5 foot 4 inch Combat Spear w/Special Purpsose Spear heads
purple = corrosive acid spearhead
red = high-explosive spearhead
green= cyanide tipped spearhead
orange = incindeary spearhead
blue = fragmenting explosive spearhead
plain silver = rockwell hardend stainless steel speahead
Waterproof Stainless Zippo lighter for spearheads and TNT(and personal fire starting)

Our main infantry forces(seen top left) wear a skull cap made of cermaic and kevlar, with a traditonal head dress on top of it. The artifical leaves are made of a kevlar composite and provide some camoflauge as well as shrapnel protection.
They wear a kevlar composite hula skirt style garment topped with a grey bullet proof vest. On their feet they wear a leather sandal with a reinforced toe for the most part, although civillian sandals or sneakers are sometimes worn, and then there are the small percent who prefer to be barefoot. Standard infantry carry thier tanto, a pistol, 1 grenade and the 6.8mm carbine with a total of seven 8 round belts. Some will carry shotguns or spears, in additon to or instead of the carbine

Due to the high percentage of women in Navira, the women's auxillary corps is actually larger than the main infantry divison. The standard weaponry for the "WAC" soldiers(seen in the bottom right) are the standard pistol and up to 3 spears with various spearheads, and occasionaly they carry the shotguns or carbines. Thier standard uniform is simply the traditonal grass skirt and coconut top. Since this ensemble offers no protection, several of the women have been known to sew together thick animal hides and embed them with plates of metal and use them as a sort of psuedo-body armor. they will usualy be barefoot or will wear leather and rubber sandals

Special forces (seen above top right in the black shirts) wear thin kevlar shorts underneath birghtly colored cotton shirts. They also wear western made body armor under thier balck cotton t-shirts and short-topped leather combat boots. They usually carry the same armaments as the main infantry but are rumored to possess automatic western style assault weapons and machine guns, althought that is classifed ;)

Dress uniforms are specialized traditonal wear, with gold plated headbands which display the "eye of navira" in the center. The standard is barefoot although sometimes ornate sandals are worn. Also worn with the dress uniform are special armbands, neclaces, other headgear, anklets and bracelets (seen as the 3 foward people in the top right picture)

OOC:OOOOOHHHHH!!! I wish I knew how to post pictures! Anyways!

XM-1 Handgun
Standard issue for Military, Consortium, and Police forces. This 6mm pistol is powerful enough to penetrate a ribcage. Has a 35 round clip. Can be equipped with silencer

XM-50 Submachine Gun
Issued to SWAT Teams, Consortium Agents, and standard issue for Close Combat Specialists. This high powered 9.65mm SMG has average recoil but good stopping power at close range. Has a effective range of 400 meters. Has a 60 round clip. Can be fitted with a silencer(which reduces stopping power and recoil).

XM-100
Standard Issue for Red Tidean Soldiers and the small mercenaries armies formed by the Corporations. This 7.65mm Assualt Rifle can fire burst, single, or fully automatic rounds. It has a effective range of 600 meters. Has a 36 round clip and (if operated by a averagely trained soldier) can fire 110 rounds per minute. Is fitted with either a gun sight or laser scope.

AR4 Commando
Standard Issue for Consortium Agents and Tidal Wave Commandos. The AR4 is a lightweight 7.55mm High Powered Assualt Rifle. Its modes are the same as the XM-100. Has slight advantages over the XM-100(120 a minute fire rate, 700 meter effective range, and 38 round clip). Its main advantage is its lightweight and above average durability. Can be armed with either a gun sight, laser scope, or see-around-wall laser scope.

XM-150
Standard Issue for Snipers(of Police, Consortium, and Military types). A 7.45mm high powered, semiautomatic sniper rifle is capable of blowing a mans head clean off at 1000 meters. It has a 6 round clip.

XM-200
This is assigned to priviliged Military and Consortium Snipers. This 15.5mm Anti Material Sniper has a small clip of 3 rounds, is bolt action, and is LOUD! Its main advantage is its ability to penetrate up to 200mm of armor at 1000 meters.

MDM-1
Issued only to soldiers. 1 man in the sqaud ALWAYS has one of these relodable anti-tank Rocket Launchers. It can penetrate 600mm of composite tank armor. It is quite heavy, but not to heavy. It is unguided however.

HARPOON-RL
Issued to Tidal Wave Commandos and Current Gaurd Shocktroopers. This is a advanced anti tank rocket launcher. It is advanced in the sense that it has a clip of 3 rockets, one already in the launch hole, the other two waiting for someone to pull the bolt-action lever to snap them into place after the one before it has been fired. It only has a slight advantage in penetration rate over the MDM-1(620mm).

MDM-2
Issued to anybody inside the military. This is a IR guided handheld SAM which works similar to the Stinger.... its just more durable.

XN-10 Fragmentation Grenade
Standard Issue anti infantry grenade

XN-20 Anti Tank Grenade
Basicilly a grenade designed to penetrate 200mm of armor.

XN-30 Flamethrower
Issued only to Close Combat Specialists. These things are perfect for clearing out bunkers, pillboxes, trenches, buildings, and alleyways. It uses a new type of flammable liquied that isnt used up as fast and burns longer. This liquid is stored in a container which is attached to the barrel like a clip to a gun.

PKM
A light weight version of the PK which is a Russian version of the M-60. Issued to 3 men in every squad and is standard issue with Current Gaurd Shocktroopers.

Mortar-12
A 90mm mortar capable of firing HE-Frag, AS(Anti-Structure), Guided, or deep penetration shells. Requires 2 men to man.

In case your wondering... One Red Tidean squad is 10 men.(3 Machinegunners, 1 Rocket Dude, 1 Officer, 5 soldiers). Close Combat Specialists work in their own teams of ten. Snipers work either on their own or in 2 man teams. Mortar-12 and MDM-2 crews also work seperate teams.

Firearms

The Imperium is most fond of using plasma-based energy weapons. They are traditionally clumsier weapons than most, but the brutal nature of the damage they inflict suits the Ghargonian maxim perfectly. A few distinctions exist, of course, for example a projectile weapon is listed below, and sonic, laser, tachyon and messon-based weapons are all in active service somewhere along the line.

A race determined to prove their strength, Ghargonian soldiers would much rather use their bare hands to destroy their enemy but, alas, the galaxy has finally caught up with their technology, and so they now recognise the necessity of always carrying potent firearms and wearing highly durable armour into battle. Even so, many Ghargonian soldiers you see will have a sword in a sheath on their back, or blades hooked on to their armour.

The technology used in such weapons changes very little over time, but the technology has had almost 2,000,000 years to develop, which makes it highly reliable and easy to construct or repair.
Most firearms used by the Imperium require a very small nuclear power pack in addition to whatever ammo they consume. These power supplies last for hundreds of hours in combat, and for centuries if they are just left switched on but not used, however when they expire the weapon is useless until a tech dismantles it and replaces the pack. As such, all weapons deployed are always checked and recharged before any battle, though the risk of getting a 'flat battery' always looms. The lifespan of the pack in each weapon is listed for reference. Ironically, smaller weapons will typically outlast larger, more powerful weapons. This is because the power packs in all the firearms are identical; if a soldier has the know-how, if necessary he could dismantle his side-arm and use the power pack from that in his GIR100 instead. This is a complex proceedure that not many grunts are trained in, however.
It is very rare for a soldier's weapon to run flat, though, so this doesn't worry too many. You're more likely to run out of ammo than power. They have blades to fall back on in the worst-case scenario anyway.

The following are standard-issue weapons, or simply very popular:

- GIP11 Plasma pistol

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v248/MattLever/Ghargonia/GIP11.jpg

Weight: 2.2kg
Ammo: Type 11 Plasma Cell
Capacity: 50 rounds / 2 overcharge blasts
Effective Combat Range: 600 metres
Maximum (atmospheric) Range: 1,000 metres
Maximum (Vacuum) Range: 1.8km
Projectile Velocity: 500 metres per second
Fire Rate: N/A
Power Supply Lifespan: 500 years storage life, 950 hours combat life

Standard issue to all Ghargonian infantry and navy alike, the GIP11 is a plasma-based energy weapon, powered by a type 11 plasma cell loaded into the underside of the grip. A standard plasma cell will allow for 50 rounds before requiring a replacement. Hard-plasma bolts inflict kinetic and thermal damage on targets, with plasma burns and internal physical trauma typically being the primary causes of death.
An optional laser sight fitted to the right side of the pistol allows for more precise visual aiming, while a genetic key built into the grip causes the weapon to overload if fired by a non-Ghargonian -- this is a standard feature present in all Ghargonian weaponry with the exception of the PLS95, the hocket, and any bladed weapons that are incapable of overloading. Older weaponry may not include this feature.
Maximum effective combat range of a default-yield plasma burst is approximately 700 - 1,000 metres, depending on atmospheric conditions. In a vacuum, the range of the GIP11 is 1.8km. Recommended combat range is 600 metres. Plasma bolts begin to loose cohesion and ultimately dissipate entirely after this maximum range.
A unique function of the GIP11 is the 'overcharge' mode. Assuming the plasma cell is full, the GIP can store the equivalent of 25 rounds worth of power for a super-dense, super-heated blast of plasma, with a phenomenal impact effect. This overcharge mode can be used to penetrate heavier infantry armour, or to disable key systems on enemy vehicles. Drawbacks include a halved combat range, less accuracy and larger kickback, not to mention continuous use of overcharge shots will consume plasma cells at a rapid rate.

- GIR44 Auto-Plasma Rifle

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v248/MattLever/Ghargonia/GIR44.jpg

Weight: 9kg
Ammo: Type 44 Plasma Cell
Capacity: 400 rounds
Effective Combat Range: 740 metres
Maximum (atmospheric) Range: 1,500 metres
Maximum (Vacuum) Range: 2.1km
Projectile Velocity: 600 metres per second
Fire Rate: 3 rounds per second
Power Supply Lifespan: 500 years storage life, 800 hours combat life

Loaded with 400-round-capacity type 44 plasma cells, the GIR44 is a powerful and versatile rapid-fire plasma rifle, capable of firing three plasma rounds per second continuously. The GIR44 is capable of increasing the stability of the hard-plasma bolts, increasing their range to 1,100 - 1,500 metres, depending on atmospheric conditions, with a range of 2.1km in a vacuum. Accuracy is less than that of the GIP11, however. Recommended combat range for the GIR44 is 740 metres.
The GIR44 weighs approximately 9kg, which makes it the lightest standard-issue rifle in Imperium history. In stress tests, however, the butt of the rifle frequently snapped when used as a club against a mass roughly as hard as a Gerash skull. The GIR44-B is currently being designed, and will have a terrallium-reinforced butt and weigh just over 12kg.
The GIR44 is the standard-issue plasma rifle issued to Ghargonian Shocktroopers and officers in the field.
The GIR44-A, a variant of the standard GIR44, has received subtle modifications. A small slanted screen mounted on the top provides zoom and targeting functions, and the entire outer surface of the rifle has been plated in gold. This variant is issued to the Gerash Guardians, and is strictly limited to defensive duties and ceremonial functions.
Plasma cells on both models are slot-loaded in to the right. Expired cells are ejected from the left. Modifications to this system can include a three-cell slot-loader; the same length as a standard plasma cell, the three-cell is three times as wide. Slot one end into the chamber. Once that cell compartment is used, the slot-loader is not ejected entirely, but shifted to the middle compartment. Once that cell is expired, it is shifted to the end compartment. This makes for three instant reloads.

- GIR100 Auto-Plasma Rifle

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v248/MattLever/Ghargonia/GIR100.jpg

Weight: 35kg
Ammo: Type 100 Plasma Cell
Capacity: 1,000 rounds
Effective Combat Range: 740 metres
Maximum (atmospheric) Range: 1,500 metres
Maximum (Vacuum) Range: 2.1km
Projectile Velocity: 600 metres per second
Fire Rate: 3 rounds per second
Power Supply Lifespan: 500 years storage life, 700 hours combat life

Issued only to Gerash, the GIR100 is a far heavier weapon, weighing almost 35kg. This weight means it is only a practical weapon in the hands of a Gerash soldier.
Using type 100 plasma cells, the GIR100 can hold 1,000 rounds, and using its rotational three-barrel configuration can fire plasma bolts of a rate of approximately nine per second. The GIR100 uses the same emitter system as the GIR44, however, and thus shares its effective range of 1,100 - 1,500 metres, depending on atmospheric conditions, with a range of 2.1km in a vacuum. Due to the increased rate of fire, accuracy has decreased, but this increased rate of fire causes the hit percentage to remain the same in tests, so the recommended combat range of the GIR100 also remains the same.
The GIR100 is fully automatic and lacks a single-shot fire mode. Despite this, the 100 model is the standard-issue assault weapon to all Gerash Infantry.
The type 100 cell is round, and slotted behind the three rotational barrels. The type 100 cell has three ports from which to draw plasma and fuel each individual barrel.

- GIS5 Long-Range Plasma Rifle

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v248/MattLever/Ghargonia/GIS5.jpg

Weight: 17kg
Ammo: Type 5 Plasma Cell
Capacity: 10 rounds
Effective Combat Range: 1,340 metres
Maximum (atmospheric) Range: 2,500 metres
Maximum (Vacuum) Range: 2.9km
Projectile Velocity: 1,000 metres per second
Fire Rate: N/A
Power Supply Lifespan: 500 years storage life, 300 hours combat life

The GIS5 is a relatively experimental weapon. Using a complex series of adjustable terrallium heat shields (source of the unusually high weight) to accurately project a highly-dense plasma bolt, the GIS5 is the first plasma-based weapon to remain practically effective over a range of 800 metres. Indeed, the recommended combat range of the GIS5 is 1,340 metres, a new record for plasma weaponry.
To overcome the loss of cohesion plasma bolts suffer as they travel, the type 5 plasma cell was developed. Simply, it makes a traditional hard-plasma bolt almost 20x denser than usual. As such, a plasma cell for the GIS5 is only good for ten rounds before needing to be replaced.
Targeting can be achieved via a simple holo-display in the upper scope; target assessment, infra-red and ultra-violet modes can all be accessed along with an adequate zoom function.

- PLS95 Sniper Rifle

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v248/MattLever/Ghargonia/PLS95.jpg

Weight: 12.6kg
Ammo: .408 calibre terrallium projectile magazine
Capacity: 6 rounds
Effective Combat Range: 2,500 metres
Maximum (atmospheric) Range: N/A
Maximum (Vacuum) Range: N/A
Projectile Velocity: 1,100 metres per second
Fire Rate: N/A
Power Supply Lifespan: 600 years storage life, 1,500 hours combat life

Using an ancient manually operated rotational bolt firing mechanism, the PLS95 is the only remaining 'true' projectile weapon still in production, and will probably be succeeded by another projectile weapon. Most soldiers prefer the reliability and accuracy offered by this technology. Sniper rifles which take plasma cells are typically inaccurate, heavy and lack in range when compared.
The PLS95 incorporates a holo-display in the scope, which offers tactical information about the landscape such as wind speed, wind resistance (certain planetary atmospheres are denser than others, thus infringing on the overall range of the projectile), and ballistics information such as the estimated speed of the projectile. This information can be cancelled out if preferred; leaving just the zoom function and any additional vision modes the environmental or strategic conditions may call for. Due to the fact that the firing process itself consumes no power, the effective combat life of the internal power source is significantly increased, making it the preferred weapon so far as maintenance is concerned.
The PLS95 uses terrallium alloy projectiles, six of which are included in a slot-loadable magazine on the underside of the barrel.

- GPG55 Plasma Grenade

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v248/MattLever/Ghargonia/GPG55.gif

Fuse: Five seconds
Explosive Radius: 10 metres

With an internal plasma cell equivalent to the type 11, the GPG55 begins bombarding plasma with energy as soon as the pin is removed. Five seconds afterwards, the plasma explodes, causing a blast wave, a fire ball, and leaving behind a napalm-like plasma fire on the ground for some time afterwards.

Infantry Armour

Two versions of Ghargonian Shocktrooper armour exist, both of which are terrallium-based with adaptive flexi-ceramic underlay.

The most common form of combat armour is the more practical. A flexi-ceramic 'hat' protects the head and upper snout from plasma burns, while terrallium plates across the chest, back, upper and lower arms, upper and lower legs with adaptive flexi-ceramic underlay protect all vital areas from both projectile and plasma weapons. Joints are not protected, however, nor is it an all-over body suit. Terrallium boots with hinged joints can be used, but most prefer leather boots with flexi-ceramic underlay.
Terrallium plates can be painted or covered with camouflaged material if necessary, though a standard black or silver version is used by ship-board Shocktroopers.

The other form of combat armour is mostly for psychological warfare against lesser species. A large, retractable terrallium serpent head helmet completely obscures the head.
It gathers visual information through the green 'eyes', which double as cameras, and displays it on a small holo-display in front of the soldier's face. This snake helmet does not serve any tactical purpose; indeed, the terrallium is hinged in so many places to allow the helmet to be retracted that it is too weak to resist either projectile or plasma weapons. It instead is designed to scare primitives. Largely, it serves its purpose, as cave paintings show evil snake-like gods destroying their ancestors on some worlds. The only real tactical advantage offered by the snake helmet is the data display, which relays more than just videos of outside, and the fact that it is entirely air tight, with a self-contained atmosphere -- ideal for dangerous or airless environments.
Elegant silver or black terrallium armour covers the rest of the body, with standard adaptive flexi-ceramic underlay and hinged joints. This cumbersome armour is a lot heavier and less agile than standard combat armour, and as such is not deployed against enemies with equal levels of technology, or enemies who are not frightened by the imposing nature of the armour.

Elite Guardians, the Gerash of Ghargonia Prime, receive the 'snake' combat suit in silver with gold decorations around the chest and down the arms.

All armour regardless of purpose is fitted with internal thermal regulation systems. Due to the reptilian nature of Ghargonians and Gerash, it is necessary to aid their bodies when venturing into drastically different environments. For example, without combat armour, a Ghargonian's life would actually be in danger if he were attacking anywhere in Northern Europe during the winter.

Bladed Weapons

Warriors need blades for close-quarters combat. Some species are fine with small knives for such emergencies, but most Ghargonian and Gerash soldiers carry more elegant weapons into the field.

- Arm Blades

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v248/MattLever/Ghargonia/WristBlades.jpg

Designed to fit onto the lower arm plating of most standard combat armour currently in service, the arm blade runs from elbow to wrist along the outward side of a soldier's arm. This blade can be used for slashing motions to enemies that attempt close-range side-on attacks. The toothed part of the blade sits closest to the hand, and can be used for tearing flesh, whilst the most part of the blade is razor-sharp. The very end can be used for backwards stabbing attacks. Made from solid terrallium, the blades are almost unbreakable and will cut through most known materials.
Most Ghargonian soldiers fit these blades to their armour, one on either arm. Gerash tend not to use them, however. A small, uninspired, but totally practical and frequently useful weapon. Especially useful as a defence, for example, if a unit is attacked by a sword-wielding opponent and cannot bring their firearm to aim quickly enough.

- Ghargonian Battleblade

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v248/MattLever/Ghargonia/sword.jpg

An ancient, traditional weapon, the Battleblade has been present in every major battle ever fought by the Ghargonian people in recorded history. There are various personalised hilts and blades, as with all swords, but they typically take a similar look to the image provided.
A pure terrallium blade, almost 60 inches long and weighing more than three kilograms, the razor-sharp blade is a deadly weapon when wielded in close quarters. Battleblades are mostly used for challenges or ceremonial events in modern times, but 80% of the Imperium infantry, Ghargonians and Gerash alike, choose to sling a Battleblade over their back and carry it into battle -- they are surprisingly effective at despatching armoured opponents, if one can get close enough to do so. Most Ghargonians are trained in the use of a Battleblade when they are young, and blade techniques of all types are mandatory aspects of a Gerash's upbringing.

- Datchets

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v248/MattLever/Ghargonia/TwoBlades.jpg

Two dual blades, one held in each hand, used in a frantic, rapid combat style featuring quick yet small slashing movements. May also be used as throwing knives. To master the techniques of Dachet combat, one needs to have extremely fast reaction times, a lot of patience, and to be fairly supple.
Although alien armies will likely never see a Datchet in battle (at least if they did, they would never live long enough to talk about it -- frequently used as throwing knives to eliminate enemies silently from a short distance on covert missions), if the Imperium were ever to become embroiled in a civil war, soldiers settling their differences over a Datchet fight would be commonplace -- and hard to follow. Not a beautiful art form, that much is certain.

The jacket I wear in the winter weigh more then that.

You mean like a stuffed coat?

Just remember, kevlar is a simple, tightly-woven material. Sometimes its combined with other materials, sometimes it may have ceramics involved to stop rounds of higher velocity.. any of which materials may or may not change the weight of the vest.

I think his main problem with them isn't so much their plausibility, but their availability. Equipping an entire army with high-tech solid bodysuits or those powered exo-skeletons would cost so much they'd have to do without weapons...

Which is exactly why only my most highly trained SpecOps troops get "powered armor".

The rest get to power their own armor. Lol.

RelicArms RIW-5 Bullpup Assault Rifle

The only assault rifle in NS with the ability to accept almost any type of ammo!

1) Quick change barrel systems lets you use almost any ammo. Carry around the right size barrel, and you can use the corresponding ammo. Obviously it works with any assault rifle ammo, as that was what the original design called for; however, its ability doesn't end there. Pistol ammo has been fired through it. Full size rifle ammo has been fired through it (with 30.06 it has been described as reminiscent of firing a BAR from WW2 era, but more accurate). With a smoothbore barrel, we have even gotten 12-gauge out of it. This flexibility means you can switch ammo as you switch tasks.

2) The clamp and reciever are one in the same, and resize to fit new sizes of magazine. Pulling back on a lever causes the device to dilate to its maximum, at which point you put in the magazine. Releasing the lever causes the assembly to grip the magazine in place, ready for firing. This process only needs to be repeated when changing to new magazine types, once it is fit to a certain type of magazine it retains that shape until a new one is desired. The gun can accept box or belt styles magazines, unfortunetly drums and more obscure types are impossible.

Range: Dependant on ammo type.
Magazine Capacity: whatever compatible magazine is being used
Firing Modes: Safety, Semi, Burst(3), and Auto(800 cyclic)

Features List:
-Ambidextrous, adjustable without tools by user.
-Waterproof.
-The inside is coated with NFC (like better teflon), so the gun never needs oiling.
-Super tough! It has a dense polymer outside strong enough to protect it from repeated sledgehammer impacts. This gun is tougher than an AK series, and can be fired after presumeably decades of full combat wear and tear.
-Inside there is a tiny bell made of heat sensitive metal, it serves the purpose of distinguishing betwen friend or foe when firing different calibers, and to audibly warn you when the gun starts to overheat(like say after firing an entire 200 round MG box).

GUG4 Multipurpose Grenade

Intercompatable with RIW-5, Airburst mode can only be used with a multiscope. Fits snugly over the barrels of most common assault rifles for firing.

SAFETY: For all but the tripwire and landmine mode, replacing the pin disarms the grenade. It uses an electronic fuse so there is no limit to how long it has been armed before it can be disarmed.

Grenade Mode: As a normal handgrenade.

Impact Grenade: Thrown grenade detonates when button impacts surface.

Rifle Impact Grenade: Grenade detonates when button hits surface, but the grenade is launched from a rifle.

Rifle Airburst Grenade: Mimics the OICW airburst grenade but is more powerful, being a full-sized handgrenade.

Tripmine: Wire unravels and sets up a tripwire. After it is fully armed it cannot be disarmed by reinserting the pin. In accordance to international ROEs it disarms itself after 1 year.

Landmine: Buried button up, the grenade acts like a landmine. In accordance to international ROEs it disarms itself after 1 year.

RelicArms Complete Environmental Battle Armor

Suitable for use in space and other hostile environments, the CEBA is the ultimate in infantry warfare. This is the culmination of years of research into battlefield ergonomics, and represents the perfection of outdated systems such as landwarrior. Even better is the fact that this is much more dirt friendly and inexpensive than powered armor.

-Chest plate tested 9 out of 10 shots stopped vs. 7.62AK out of 30 round continuous fire. The hard parts of the armor are made of a cutting edge layered polymer(threads aligned at 90 degree angles over one another, several hundred layers) with an outer coating designed to cause bullets and shrapnel to spark off.
-Insulated, high temperature resistant weave of super-silk, synthetic fibers, and metal mesh that is fire resistant up to 300 degrees centigrade. Normal fires do no damage, but plasma and nuclear fires have full effect.
-Chemically coated to be laser resistant.
-Total Weight is only 35lbs (15 kg), well below the hulking arrays of vests and pouches used by most modern armies. Studies show that combat loads should not exceed 30 percent of a soldiers weight, making this a very user friendly package.
-Joints have hydraulic springs that help distribute weight, and prevent limbs from being dislocated. The armor rests most of its weight on itself, not the user.
-Comes in any camo pattern needed, and has several points to hook ghillie netting.
-Includes straps for parachute.
-Includes utility belt/holster.
-Includes helmet with removable face plate with a tinted, light sensitive visor, capable of halving flashbang blinding.
-Includes a short range tactical radio is also built into helmet. Range is 4 miles (6.4 km).
-Fully integrated night vision and 4x binoculars
-Non-intrusive holohud that can display GPS info, outside temperature, vital signs, and teammates condition.
-Computer controlled life support system with humidifier, internal cooling and temperature control.
-Gas filtering and artificial circulation system, with an independent oxygen supply for use in zero oxygen or polluted environments. The system can supply oxygen to the wearer for up to eight hours maximum. The system automatically engages when necessary.
-Self-sealing under suit.
-Radiation-shielded with Demron.
-Acid/Alkali proof.
-EMP proof.

Accessories: Suits can be outfitted with all of these simultaneously, if necessary. But only 2 of the 3 specilized envorment kits is reccomended.

Insta-Splint(tm) Technology: Field medics can be given a tiny key they can insert into certain plates on the armor, when they twist it, the suit locks that part of the body firm: instant splint for broken bones!
Auto-Med: Suit applies tourniquette to bleeding wounds and administers painkillers and adrenalines when necessary
Supported Legs: Hydraulic springs put more weight into the ground, resulting in increased load bearing capacity. When sprinting they switch settings and assist leg power.
Energy Weapon Shielding: A tiny buffer zone of cold plasma absorbs harmful electromagnetic frequencies
Zero-G Kit: Pressurized gasjets used for moving around in zero-g, magnetic boots, nylon rope dispenser, 14 hour air tank
Aquatic Combat Kit: Increased oxygen tank(14 hours), suit pressurizes at lower depths to reduce chance of getting the bends, deployable fins, waterjet backpack(speed 20kts)
Cliff Scaling Kit: 100 meters of super-strong cable with digital counter, 30 Pitons/Pulleys, Grappelling Hook with winch, improved gripping surfaces on boots and hands, laser rangefinder
Hacking Computer: Mounted inside the forearm armor, are wires that can interact with almost any computer interface. Via satellite uplink, a hacker in a safe location can use the suit computer to hack into systems in the field, without putting themselves in any danger.
Engineering Add-on: Invaluable tool for combat engineers everywhere. Includes; laser level and ruler, built into helmet. Electrical tester built into fingers. Material hardness detector in fingers. Auto screwdriver/drill/saw. Wirecutters. Welding/cutting torch. Foot and hand mounted metal detectors. Jeweler's lens for examining fine circuitry or cracks in walls. Several LED flashlights. Double barreled 9mm assault rifle, based on the venerable 11mm AR-22 and variants which served TPM for well over two centuries. Due to advances in compact trilithium explosives, we can now fit over 60 rounds in the same size magazine which used to hold 32 11mm bullets.
The explosive in the caseless 9mm rounds is one of the most potent in the universe, this combined with acceleration along the barrel via charged coils allows for extreme muzzle velocity. There is a variety of projectiles to be used for desired effect depending on mission. Also a 30mm plasma launcher can be mounted underneath, firing pulses, delayed action bursts or "scatter charges"
The underbarrel plasma launcher takes the same cell as the other weapons, but needs special muzzle loaded shells for the scatter charges(sort of like a shotgun but spacedy and sparkly :) ) and delayed action bursts (which act kind of like a frag grenade)

Necromancy, much? Seriously, there's something I like about that 9mm rifle, probably because I can't decide if it's ugly or beautiful. However, I don't want to be the one maintaining that thing, my M16 was a pain in the ass to clean and it was fairly simple to break down.
The Phoenix Militia

Ahh but imagine how much easier the M-16 would have been to clean if it had a 9mm bore diameter instead of 5.56mm, and remebr this is 500 years in the future, nano bots clean the guns :P
Scandavian States

Oh no, the bore wasn't the problem. Exercising a little muscle was the easy part, especially when we were getting smoked every other hour. No, the hard part was getting down underneath the trigger group with a q-tip to clean out all the muck after FTX. It took a frickin week to get every M-16 in the company clean to standard after that.

Btw, if you ever go into the military and you hear your DS say, "Half right, face!" you better start praying that he's just saying hi and nobody's made him angry or embarassed him. Especially the latter. Remember the fourth general order, it's the unwritten one, "I will not embarras my Senior Drill Sargeant, I do not want to be carted off to the hospital to be treated for heatstroke and miss training."

Hey I've been there and done that, also stayed up with the company until 1 am and got everyone f*cked for having the dirtiest weapon in the company, seems after I cleaned it for 3 hours, it got dirty again when I put it back together, luckily with 8 other guys cleaning my wepaon I passed the next time and we were allowed to go to bed. Then of course after FTX we had to sterlize the weapons for 2 days because the barrels are used to store precious anthrax vaccines when not in use by trainnees, or something.

Really? When I was at Benning we got our weapons from the depot, as far as I know they had nothing to do with medical supplies. But, yeah, post-FTX was some sleepless nights. Alternating two hours on, two hours off, listening to the radio with my buddies while up and just cleaning crap with a toothbrush while in a semi-wake haze. Oddly enough, that week was the best time I had while I was there.
