Louis XX arrives in Montreal (Modern World Only)

((Yo Hudecia, didnt know where to put this, so I made a new thread))

Monarch One, that blue Airbus-9000 sprinkled with fleur-de-lis of gold, landed in Montreal International Airport...followed by its escort of Dassault Rafales.

To the rhythms of trumpets, Louis XX, by the Grace of God King of France and Navarre, Defender of the Faith, stepped off the plane. He was dressed to impress, in the same blue velvet ensemble he wore for his coronation. He wore his hair powdered, as was his face, and simply curled. He was the absolute image of L'etat c'est moi. His wife, Marie Therese with a massvie three foot Antoinette style wig, followed behind him. Her matching blue gown was laden down with diamonds and sapphires, the total cost around thirty million.

Louis was happy to be in Quebec, even happier to be in Hudecia. This was a vital trip for him, the capstone of his world tour in the cornerstone of the Western Democracies. He, as informed by his Council of State, knew Western recognition was vital. So far, Hudecia had been polite. As a result, Louis brought literally about a ton of gifts for the Premier of Quebec and the Prime Minister of Hudecia himself.

In the distance Louis heard the sound of protestors, chanting 'pig' and 'animal', he noticed very clearly in English. He had been warned of demonstrations against him, always a problem in democracies. His brilliantly uniformed Swiss Bodyguards clustered about the King, searching in all directions.

Louis came with expectations of at least a non agression pact. He knew Hudecia must worry about the Chinese and Russian situations, and he presented himself as a stable ally. Indeed, this is the reason he came bearing that plethora of gifts. At the least he wanted non agression, but he hoped for a trade alliance. Although Hudecia must not enjoy Frances human rights situation, the facts were nobody was wrongfully imprisoned. Republicans were in the Bastille, true, but that was the only stickling point. Although only Catholicism was legal, there were no efforts to supress minority religions, they were simply publicly illegal. Louis found the situation acceptable.

With a smile on his face, the trumpet blaring, Louis with his entourage descended onto the tarmack.

"Bienvenue a Hudecia!!" The Premier of Quebec opened his arms wide to the Louis XX. Nearby, the Hudecian Prime Minister and an assortment of high ranking officials smiled broadly but their smiles betrayed a deep uneasiness.

Hudecia had a big enough problem without having to deal with Elkazor, so the government was anxious to ensure some sort of stability in Europe for the time being. As well, the newly elected Conservative government was in no position to start alienating its Quebec constituents, who were largely suspicious of the government to begin with.

Along the roads that guided him to his residence, fit for a king of course, thousands of francophones turned out to cheer and celebrate his arrival. Although many were equally uncomfortable with the internal policies of Elkazor they were proud that their nation once again had a symbol to be proud of. Time would tell how long these feelings would last.

The Prime Minister would address some of the issues but would not go so far as to condemn Louis XX or his government. Rather, he would express surprise and concern at their luncheon later. But for now, everyone was all smiles.

They would find Louis XX, publicly so imposing and regal, in person affable and a dedicated gourmand. Most importantly, his mind was as keen as a razors edge. He enjoyed smoking, and having his charming wife light the cigarettes, although never in front of the camera.

His wife was downright charming, always saying the right thing at the appropros time, the velvet glove to Louis iron fist. Her only fault was, well, her unbridled decadence and easy spending. ((Im thinking Louis XIV married to Marie Antoinette, lol huh?))

His Most Christian Majesty was heartened by the mass turn out, and the flag waving; he made a show of having wet eyes as he waved from the limo.

Upon the landing he had warmly embraced the Premier, speaking a few easy jokes to him in pidgin French, the sort that two bonhommes could smirk at. He also greeted the Prime Minister warmly, his august body radiating friendship.

As the motorcade reached his temporary residence in Hudeican Quebec, Louis nodded: nice, posh, but certainly not the turnout he had been given in Marimaia. As they sat down to lunch, Louis eating with hearty abandon while he wife got politely sloshed on champagnie, the discussion was open.

"Mr. Prime Minister, you have been very kind to both my diplomats and realm with good words and cordial actions. It means alot to me. Tell me, why is it you have reservations about me and mine?" The Prime Minister seemed to blach at the open statement, but Louis waved his hand as Marie lit his cigarette. "I feel you are a good man, more importantly you look to be a gentleman. I know our two states can reason with one another! You need a stable Europe, but the limies are to caught up in their colonialism, both overtly and covertly. Look here!" He snapped his fingers, and a servant produced a stack of papers. "Crime reports. Since I began my reign, crime in France has dropped by 76%, marriage rates are through the roof, and religious participation (he convieniently left out that only Catholics were counted in the study) has reached millenial highs. Could an 'evil' nation boast such decency? I think not." He smiled indulgently at the Premier, whom he had spoken to (albeit very quietly) through third persons about a marriage between his niece and the Premier, and then turned back to the Prime Minister. "I tell you now, I have no ambitions or intrigues at all concerning my ancestors colony of Quebec. It is just that, ancestral and historical, not at all pertinent to the present."

He took a drag. "No, Mr. Prime Minister, what is pertinent to this pressing present is good relations between us...relations that ensure healthy economies and satisfied subjects" he coughed "I mean citizens. I offer you economic agreements this very minute, and my word of peace between our two valiant lands."

"Pardon my honesty your majesty, but I, and many of my constituents are Protestant, not Catholic. We understand your actions, however, we were quite taken aback by the rapid pace that France has changed."

Prime Minister MacNally was still smiling, but he was a little uncomfortable. Although he always viewed himself as Hudecian first, a Vancouverite second, and a Scot third, he couldn't help but take a little offense to the 'limey' comment.

"Despite this, I must agree with you that it is in the best interests of both of us, and the world in general that we co-operate and enjoy the best of times both politically and economically."

"I have the greatest respect and trust in you, and I agree heartily to your proposal."

Louis smiled warmly, and there was a toast.

"Excellent. You Hudecians are of good stock, I think. It is my most sincere wish that as the years wax so shall the friendship of our greats lands! I must say, that out of the many noteworthy events which have happened upon me in this world, your simple kindness and courageous heart are among the most moving. Hudecia, as long as my progeny and I succour the Throne, will be known as a friend of the Kingdom of France!"

There was another round of toasts.

"Let trade begin at once, I think. As for non-agression pacts, why should they not be signed post haste?"

He sat back. "One more thing, Mr. Prime Minister, it is the custom of my family to seal a pact with marriage. Would Monsieur Primier de Quebec be able to wed my niece, the Comtesse de Polignac? Such a marriage would speak volumes about the nature of our two great lands friendship."

MacNally was a little taken aback by the forthrightness of Louis XX, but he had heard some rumours of the proposed marriage in advance. The Premier of Quebec was 'available' in that sense of the word, and although they had heard about how pretty Louis XX's niece was.

"I understand that your niece is very beautiful, your majesty, perhaps, before the Premier decides on the issue of marriage, we should arrange a meeting for them," MacNally said in a friendly fashion, the Premier giving him a thankful look. "After all, a couple that has known each other prior to marriage tend to last longer. And it would be... embarrasing should such a vital marriage fail to prosper."

Louis mirthily laughed "Very good, indeed twould only be proper! How bout this, why dont we gentlemen set off for a hunt or two! I have heard there is fine game in the three rivers area, if I may be so bold."

Marie lit him a cigarette "I will have Comtesse flown in, at once. This will us rulerly types a chance to relax and hunt, the couple a chance to get to know each other; equalling a good time for all parties involved. Once they are wed, then de facto the trade agreements and pacts will follow as the night does the day!"

He stood, and stretched. Calls were made, and Comtesse Polignac was flown from Paris that night. "In the mean time, gentlemen, shall we adjourn for a hunt?"

King Wingert I, Tasr of the Estenlands sends his greetings to the proceedings in Hudecia and expresses his regrets that he could not attend. However, he does invite the government of Hudecia to send some war correpondents to the northern and eastern frontiers of Ukraine in order to document the ongoing conflict there.

"Of course, it is a wonderful idea," MacNally beamed. He was one of the few politicians these days who actually enjoyed hunting. "The arrangements are already prepared."

Standing up, MacNally led the group down the hall to a gun cabinet which was filled with the finest hunting and sport rifles. He was tempted to choose first, but, remembering guests he stepped aside and asked Louis XX to choose first.

-Trois-Rivieres-

Security in the area was tight with the suggestion that this might be an area for a hunt by the French monarch. Armed Hudecian soldiers blocked every access point and patrolled the border of a 10 km by 10km hunting grounds.

Hudecia took security very seriously.

A message is sent to the Estenlands thanking them for the opportunity to document the ongoing conflict. War correspondents were dispatched immediately through Pearson International Airport.

Louis XX heartily enjoyed the hunting. He took down three stag.

The tour had been a great success. Comtesse Pilognac, the darling of the French aristocracy and niece to the King himself, chatted away with the Premier. The way was clear for a match.

The Kings mind, however, was troubled. The Lavragerian episode was threatening to implode into war at any moment, and so Louis was being called back to France early. He had to sit on the Throne personally to manage this situation, no other way about it. Yet, he was very sorry to go. He had found such a warm and light reception in this clear and free country. Dear Hudecia!

It was in that mood he invited the Prime Minister of Hudecia and his entourage to Versailles, to witness the wedding. Once the vows were taken, the economic alliance and pacts of friendship would be introduced into law ex facto. He left gifts for all, including, for Hudecias PM, a collection of period Rembrandts. He begged them to come to Versailles as soon as they may, he knew they would understand.

After a quick but heart warming goodbye, Louis XX zipped off, straight back to France. He hoped the Hudecians would only be days behind. It was hinted to them that Versailles, well, was something the Hudecians had never yet experienced.

King Wingert I thanks the Hudecians for allowing reporters to come and objectively report on the goings on. Of course, each reporter/cameraman team will be attached to a portion of the Estenlandian Army, except for ten teams that are asked if they would like to report from Special Forces teams investigating inside Lavrenageria.
They are also given all the footage, without edits, that the Estenlandian News Network (ENN), has agthered over the years. This includes several hundred hours of the eating habits of the nomads of that country, (cannibalistic) as well as several thousand hours of the unprovoked invasion of 3000 warriors into Ukraine, their subsequent attack on civilians, and the Ukrianian defense forces repelling of the invasion that led to this conflict.

The Prime Minister MacNally enthusiastically agreed to travel to Versailles.

OOC: Sorry for any inconvenience, but I'll be gone for several days on a trip. Will post more then.
