The Island of Rose

((OOC: Time to start da RP!))

Now the story behind this colonization is a strange one. It was on a bet. A few hundred thousand disgruntled Rosians, led by a man named Johan von Fastoon and Alexei Czarinski, complained about the current Government. They complained to Sergei, calling him a commie pinko scum, and he is really. So Sergei in a fit of rage gave them 20 large (and I mean large) transports, the latest military supplies, medical supplies, and anything else needed to live and told them to find a new land. They said that if they didn't find it in one month then the Rosians would locate them and take them back. And if they did land, they would have full Rosian support.

Unfortunately, they found a new land in two weeks. Though they didn't know what it was called, in the map of the natives it was called Angleschtadt. But unfortunately, a storm caused the group of 20 to seperate, sending 50,000 colonists to the land of Janilulu. So now, there were 50,000 people in Angleschtadt and 50,000 people in Janilulu. Johan von Fastoon was in Angleschtadt and Alexei in Janilulu. And both landing at the tips of the coasts.

As soon as the transports landed on both coasts, they started unloading many things. Tanks, weapons, people, building materials. Hell they thought the place was empty and they would push further inland. Ironically, they didn't know that their Rosian bretheren was on the other side, for they thought they sunk and died. And as soon as they landed, Sergei received a communication from both colonies.

To President Sergei-From Alexei Czarinski:

We landed and found a continent. We won the bet, now the supplies?
-Alexei Czarinski

To President Sergei: From Johan von Fastoon:

We found land. I told you we would win, now. Do you mind if you could send
some more colonists?
-Johan von Fastoon

Of course, Sergei was angry. But he agreed. And soon posters were being set up all around the Confederation. They went as such.

Come to the new lands of the Confederation! Till it, own land, you know the deal! Cheap prices too! Transportation free, weapons are free also!

And so, Rosians started boarding ships from all over the Confederation to come to these un-named pieces of land.

"Sir! Sir Come here!" yelled a crewmen
The Captain of the USS Eplora cmae running. He was fairly fit, with a full head of hair, with brown eyes and hair.

"What is it son?"

"sir, that looks like....dare i say it land!"

"Damn your right! Hurry alert the Emperor and contact the Island. I want to see what government they have! See if they want to trade! See about everything!"

"Yes sir!" The Captain ran off, while the crewmen got on the radio.

"Emperor, i think we have something you'll be pleased with."

"What is it?"

"Land, potential Colony, potential trade partner."

"Hoist the White Flag land and talk with these people. Im gonna fly in, so if they dont have an airstrip you'd better start building one!"

The Line went staticy.

"Ship on the shore!"

Several Men rushed down and looked into the Ocean.

"They raise a white flag. Get guards to come down."

Several Guards ran down and waited for the Ship to arrive. Several Smaller boats left from the Golencian ship and came to the shore. The Men raised thier guns as the Golencian Captain stepped onto the Shore.

"what do ye be wanting?"

The Captain Looked back at the people and said

"We are here in the name of the Emperor of Golencia."

"We not be knowing of him."

The Captain grinned, "We didn't think so. However we havent heard of you either." the Captain stared at the Guns to men held, he noticed they were outdated and he saw this his chance.

"You know." he stepped closer. "We can sell you weapons more efficeint than that."

"This be top of the line!"

The Captain Chuckled, "O no! We have some nice weapons more efficeint."

"Prove this!"

"Hold on ill go get two Prototypes." The captain got into a boat and rushed back to the Ship.

"OK Boys get me an M1 Grand and an M-16!"

He began talking to the Peotilans then after a long discussion with their king,

"OK I agree we buy these weapons, but for what price!"

"Our only price 100 gold pieces a weapon. 50 for this one" he said gesturing to the M1 Grand.

And thus began a Trade between Cantan-Peotilan and Golencia.

Somewhere on the Coast of Angleschtadt...

Several peasants stood at the edge of a narrow inlet that looked somewhat like a river. They were washing their clothes and scooping up drinking water to suplement that supplied by their village well, which was 4 miles away and unreachable before night-fall. Far off to the East, Rosian ships were unloading their cargo of supplies, weapons and colonists.

"Did you hear that?" Said one of the peasants in a language similar in some respects to both German and Latin.

"Hear what?" Said another.

"Listen," said the first, picking the clothes she was washing out the river so as not to make a sound, "There it is again. It sounds like a gun-shot."

"It is an' all," said the second peasant pointing toward the horizon, "look!" she shouted, pointing. There was a flash like that which was made when a musket discharged.

"We should call the milita," one said firmly.

"We don't want that lot skulking around our village. We'll have to house and feed them, and most of them will thieve off you when you're out of the house," said another peasant, who had not spoken yet.

"That doesnt matter! They could be Janilulans," said the first.

"Or Yoshinukians. Or those folk from Ostenburg," said the second, "it could be an invasion! There has been talk of war for weeks now."

"Yes, Im calling the militia," said the first, firmly, and began to walk back to the village.

Schnarlzoft Village - 2 Weeks Later

The 640 man strong battalion of militia had marched for days from the nearest large town, some 40 miles South. The small party of militia at first dispatched reported a large body of men being unloaded from outlandish ships, but definately not of the design of any foreign power known to Angleschtadt. Moreover, the men were not dressed in anything even closely desembling a military uniform and most did not appear armed. The battalion was therefore not expecting to have to fight a pitched battle, although minor fighting was by no means out of the question.

They were now approaching that very same body of men, advancing in battle form with their muskets charged and primed, advancing in a line two ranks thick. The officers sat behind on horses and Corporals marched behind the lines, ordered to redress the ranks should men be hit and killed. The foreigners appeared to have noticed them...

OOC: Golencia, you might not want to land in your 'own' native country, because it will mean that for a lot of the time you'll be RPing with yourself. Much better to land in a nation run by someone else, so that you have more opertunity for interaction with other players (and therefore your relations with the natives will be less predictable).

Funny how things work out sometimes. One minute your heading for the Canary Island on an Imperialism Fit, the next your entire Navy has landed on the coast of an Uncharted Forsaken Island of E-vile. Of course, when one's Navy is as large as the Federation's... Landing anywhere can be a problem.

So as Dolly pranced up the beach of this Uncharted Forsaken Island of E-vile, and pondered claiming it as that for a brief moment, Dolly realized that all she had was nothing. And upon realization of this, Dolly decided that it would be best to send back home for a care package.

Off Dolly went, the epitome of the innocent little girl, skipping about collecting sticks and the like along the beach. As the whole of the Fodian Navy, she was quite apt at survival in the most treacherous conditions. Soon she had a small bundle of wood gathered together on the sand. Now only to light it. How handy hairpins were! In precisely one minute, she had the bundle alight and sending a large plume of smoke skywards. Smoke Signals were what the Fodian Armed Forces relied on. Pathetic. No?

The Smoke Signals would reach the Federation way off and yonder, the prospect of Imperialism enticing many Citizens.

Suddenly, a blur would burst from the bushes! 'Twas a Person... Of sorts. Then they shouted! "Parldamia!" Then they ran! Oh my! How random and convenient.

Johan von Fastoon looked at the advancing militia. "Is it just me, or are there 18th Century style soldiers heading towards me?" He said as he looked through his binoculours.

A soldier next to him, having an RAR-7A on his soldier slung next to him looked through Johan's bonoculours. "Yep."

Johan sighed. He turned around and he looked at three T-90s that were just unloaded. The Colony was doing great. It was named New Eltengrad, after a city on the Island. It had a few houses, stores, but much was still to be done. But already a small militia was established. He turned to the soldier. "You know how to work these tanks right?"

The soldier nodded.

Johan sighed. "Get the tanks in those T-90s and chase them away."

The soldier nodded, and in a few minutes the three tanks were up and ready. But its 120mm cannon wasn't loaded, but its machine gun was. The T-90s started to advance towards the strange batallion. It started firing towards the column, but not at it directly. Just to the point that it didn't hit anybody. And so they advanced slowly to just scare them away.

The Commander of the Battlation, Colonel Harschzatz, raised a white flag and, with two of his senior aides, marched through the now stationary line and towards the advancing enemy... things. He was requesting Parlez, and he he knew that any proper officer would not let his men hurt him as he trotted forwards. He was, however, nervous. These people had outlandish machines and they didnt look like real soldiers.

"I am Colonel Harschzatz of His Imperial Angleschtadtzian Majesty's Homeland Militia. My troops will not harm you whilst the white flag is raised. Where... who are you?" he shouted towards the two men he saw near the mobile machines.

One month ago

"This is Sqaudron Eagle Leader, to the 'Imperial'. We were just wondering if there is any land nearby."

The response from the Aircraft Carrier was simple.

"Not according to our charts... no. Why?"

"Because we see this entire continent over at our 9 o'clock. Over."

The captian was quickly informed. A transmission was sent all the way back to Red Tide.

Message from Supercarrier 'Imperial' to Red Tide high command
"Uncharted landmass sighted."

Present day.

The transport flotilla(escorted by a couple of Frigates and a destroyer) sat off the coast, on board the transports was a single infantry regiment(2,000 men and sufficient trucks to move them around). the remaining 8,000 men were Tech-Com Corporation Engineers, construction workers, and 21st century prospectors. The transports began to send the hovercraft out toward the shore. The Tech-Com personnels job was to sight out and construct settlements as well as find mineral deposits, the soldiers were there to protect them from any hostile natives(human and otherwise).

OOC:The Tech-Com Engineers, construction workers, and prospectors look like any other kind of those types of personnel. My soldiers on the other hand... the way they dress would scare the living daylights out of most men. They wear goggles that glow red(no other purpose but intimidation... it gives away their position at night though, so they take it off at that time), a metallic gas mask of sort that covers the mouth, nose, and chin ONLY. They wear bodyarmor fully visible. The rest is plain old military fatigue, boots, and the customary helmet. BTW:Who wants to RP the nation that the men land in?

The natives of the Potterdam Peninsula, a series of small veldts and a few large, rocky hills seperating it from the mainland, were a primitive folk. They had primitive machinery, but were, for the most part, quite feral. Their skin had a sort of dark tone to it from the incessant summer suns.

A few years ago the Nieuw-Haerlem, a small Bittereinder destroyer, ran aground during a storm in what was called Table Bay, on the Potterdam Peninsula, near a plateau called Table Mountain. The crew built a makeshift community, using the ship itself to create a small fort, even managing to salvage a pair of anti-aircraft guns for defense. They made contact with a local tribe, called the Khoikhoi, who helped the men survive until help came. The two senior officers, Captain Leendert Jansz and Lieutenant Mathys Proot, wrote what would become a well-published report on their experiences.

Some Bittereindens were intrigued at the possibility of forming some sort of colony, relatively close to a regularly used sealane. Rear Admiral Johan Anthoniszoon ('Jan') van Riebeeck, one of the few pure-Dutch Bittereindens left in the dominion (it is only coincidence that the discoverers of the peninsula were also pure-Dutch), managed to scrape together sufficient funds and, sponsored by a couple trading conglomerates based in Bittereinder, set off with 90 civilians on three destroyers, Drommedaris, Reijger, and Goede Hoope, plus the transport ships Walvis and Oliphant.

Van Riebeeck and his settlers arrived at the former Nieuw-Haerlem colony on a bright, spring day ....

----------------------

"Wellesly? Have some sailors set to work rebuilding those stockades, and get a team to supplement them with trenches. I fear these Khoikhoi Natives might attack, and I do not have the stomach for a war so soon."

"Yes, Admiral."

"You there, Lieutenant. Get one team working on rebuilding the structures already here. Get some more men working on setting up some of our prefab structures. Quick as you like, now."

Without waiting for a response, van Riebeeck turned back to the beach, where goods were being rapidly unloaded and transported to the middle of the clearing that would be the town center. His men were trained well, they knew exactly what to do, and his officers were keeping them working efficiently.

Still concerned about the possibility of a native attack, the Admiral grabbed a Marine sergeant, ordering him to go and provide cover for the teams repairing the defenses.

These colonists had quite a lot of work ahead of him. Jan went through the numbers in his head again. 900 men (90 civilian, 494 ratings, 188 NCOs, and 128 officers), 80 women (who of course were not allowed to serve in the navy), and 120 children. They had also brought 961 slaves.

Jan turned his thoughts back to the local Khoikhois, and ordered more Marines to move out and scout the area. He would not be taken by surprise by these natives. Jan watched thoughtfully as a team of slaves was rushed up to the stockades to dig a trench. Perhaps these Khoikhois would even make good labor. He would have to look into that ...

For now, however, van Riebeeck kept his thoughts on organizing the colony properly. Then he would lead a team out into the wilderness, to see who else might be here on this remote corner of the globe.

OOC: Yes, I know, not supposed to land in my own territory. I figured that since my territory was small enough, I would do one of two things (depending on the actions of other people). Either van Riebreeck who wonder into the adjacent territory (don't have the map open, I don't remember who owns it or what it is called) or will take his ships around to another side of the island, because at this point by people still think they are at the end of a large archipelago. The main purpose in landing in my own territory was to establish a base of operations, which makes sense, and just in case van Riebreeck meets with an uncertain end, I can always RP a little fight with the natives until I can get involved with other territories again.

OOC: Land in Yoshiunkia if you want, RedTide...I'll post the reply after I've written this.

On that subject, does anyone want to host my landings?

IC: The Falasturian 68th Flotilla had been searching for the elusive Dregrukian fleets for several weeks, over lesser-known waters, for no avail. The crews had exhausted themselves searching for an enemy that wasn't there, and now they had lost hope. They had barely seen anything except the other ships in the flotilla for almost a fortnight when a watchman called out at the top of his voice,

"Captain! Land sighted!"

The Captain was taken aback. They were thousands of miles from the nearest coastline. Even GPS ratified that. Slightly confused, he called back,

"What do you mean, Seaman? There isn't land for hundreds of miles!"

The officers on the Bridge grabbed binoculars and stared out in the direction the watchman had called out. Men at consoles looked at the equipment they had given up watching for days, to find land appearing a way away to the north.

"This is incredible! Completely absurd! Radioman, contact Naval High Command, ask for a clarification on our position and orders on how to proceed. Either our equipment is shot, or we're staring at somewhere no Falasturian has even heard of before!"

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

A message flashed up on the Imperial Regent's computer monitor. "68th Flotilla reports unknown landmass sighting." He scrolled through the article - a forwarded report from the Commodore of the Flotilla to High Command, requesting orders. He checked an attached map. Their location was in the middle of a large ocean which satellites had never bothered scanning. In fact, the location was a significant distance from anything of note at all. The Regent typed a few things on a keyboard built into his desk. Up in orbit, a satellite rotated upon its axis, turning to give a slanted shot at the projected coordinates. The satellite zoomed to its maximum range - not a particularly great detail level, given the angle of the zoom - around 30 degrees away from its regular position pointing down at a location directly below it - and relayed its shots to the Regent. Sure enough, what could be seen was an indisinct landmass, revealing itself to be of a large size. It was incredible, that it had been overlooked all this time. Turning to his governmental messaging system, he immediately wrote out an order for an exploration and colonisation project to be established, without delay. Whatever this area was, De Moins wanted to see it fully investigated, especially with regards to whether it could be exploited.

"Verily I say." The Commander of the tiny little Formation was donned in what a Lobster-Back of the American Revolutionary War would wear. The entire Formation wore exactly the same thing as well. Each had a rifle hitched over their shoulder, bayonets glinting in the afternoon sun. Other than that sole rifle, there was nothing else to aid them in defense. Oddly enough, any Person of Janilulu was dressed in such a way, as they roamed Janilulu in nothing but Asdfs. The Formation, known as an Asdf, had come to a halt. Every Soldier was swarming around a small crater, smoking, dented into the ground.

"What are you, daft?" said The Commander, "It's obviously a cannon."

A Random Soldier, however, was inclined to disagree. "But I've seen it move sir I did! Went clean 'round in a circle it did sir! It 'aint me noggin' sir, I seen it I did!"

"If it 'aint yuo noggin it's yuo peepahs. Now get back inter' formation." So the Asdf reformed, begrudgingly, into a block of the whole Twenty people. "I say. We mightn't charge?" The Earth exploded beside the Commander as another Shell from the opposing side struck, and splattered him with Soil. "Alrighty. Charge, I say."

The Soldiers nodded to each other. So began their stroll across the field.

The townsfolk couldn't believe what they saw. On the horizon, a few miles away, a host of silvery shapes floated towards the coastline. It was unlike anything they had ever seen before. The ships sailed, yet they had no sails. The yfloated, despite beaing made of metal, which common sense dictated was too heavy to stay above the surface of the water. And these things, which defied the laws of science, were coming to invade.

As the realisation of what was happening set in, panic ensued. Women ran to their homes to hide from the ungodly sight, while men gathered around, and argued over whether they should attack the invaders or avoid conflict. The Militia Captain was called. Disorder and chaos spread before slowly quietening back down to general order. Finally, decisions were made, a rider was dispatched, and the Army would be inbound to teach the intruders a lesson.

Around five hours later...

The cloud of dust grew as the Brigade closed in on the landing point of the invaders. The men of the columns were weary, having been disturbed from their relaxed morning of leisure by the panic of the rider. They hadn't seen action in years, although they were still well-trained, and a strong feeling of anxiety over the invasion had spread down the lines. Yet there was still an air of supreme confidence. The Yoshiunki had not lost a conflict in almost a century, and the Brigadier in command of the unit had excelled in his career. The invaders would either be forced back into the sea, or they would destroy the force, and opinion on the matter was largely divided.

Hearing the muttered rumours grow louder behind him, Brigadier Napier shook his head in irritation, before calling his column to a halt. The other Regiments to his left and right would follow thither shortly. The time had come. Before him, across an expanse of fields and intermittent treelines, around a mile away the enemy lay, and it was time to face them. Ordering his men to load their muskets and ready themselves for battle, he called forward a Major and two Lieutenants, had them draw by his side, and then rode ahead on his white stallion to meet the commander of the invasion force.

Approaching where the invaders were milling around, unloading equipment and establishing temporary shelters, he drew his elegant cavalry sabre, and approached a man who appeared to be bossing around his underlings in one area. Whipping the sabre upright to a salute, he approached the man, noting how he appeared to be largely out of uniform and without a horse as indication of his rank, but nevertheless called out,

"I am Brigadier Napier, of His Majesty's 8th Infantry Brigade. It seems you are a man of some import. I must ask that you take me to the commander of this expedition. Your landings here are unjust and unprovoked, and on behalf of His Majesty, I require an explanation."

The Sargeant said in a mostly monotone voice with a int of strictness, another note was that he said it in English with a Russian Accent "The Brigidier-General wont be ashore until later."

The Master Sergeant just shot a look their way, smiled underneath his mask and walked away. The helicopter drew closer. The exact type was a TC-2B Thor Heavy Multirole Helicopter(the B model being a transport with 2 15.5 mm machine guns on the wings). The helicopter began to land at a makeshift landing zone. The large white H was painted on the ground. And the transport helicopters door slipped open and out stepped the Brigidier General.

OOC:For the record, a military officer over the rank of colonel isnt required to wear the uniforms that soldiers and officers at or below the rank of colonels wear. Instead their uniforms is the same as their Russian equivalents. BTW I will have to go soon.

If you wish to invade Angleschtadt, you will not do it with a mere seven thousand."

Johan chuckled. "Of course not." A foghorn was heard. What did it sound? Why, it was 10 more boats approaching the new colony of New Eltengrad. The people were unloaded, the tanks were too. Everything was unloaded, even the booze. "It will take at least 100,000 soldiers." He smirked. "Good day." The tanks started retreating back towards to the small township that was being built.

The party of three turned around, and their horses began to trot towards the line of militia. As they reached a safe distance, the aide carrying the flag dropped it. The Colonel maneuvered his horse up to a band of three gallopers,

"I fear we will not survive the day, gentlemen. You are to take this to our headquarters at Jainschtatz and have it sent on to Corps."

"Yes, sir!" said the three in unision, and they galloped off back to the down several miles South.

"The battalion will advance!" shouted the Colonel, turning again to face the Rosian encampment. The Battalion's company of skirmishers ran off sideways into a thicket of trees to snipe at enemy officers with their rifles. The rest of the battalion marched steadily forwards.

The Light Company had reached the trees, and they settled down into firing positions. Each an was equipped with an Angleschtatian Arsenal Standard Rifle, which was breach-loaded but not magazine fed. Each man could fire almost 4 aimed rounds per minute and many in the Angleschtatian military thought they were the future of warfare. Others, however, clung on to the old ways of musketry.

"Ok men," said a Captain, the commander of the militia Light Company, "we're going to do some sharshooting! See those men over there," he continued, pointing, "with their head sticking out of those funny contraptions? I want you to get rid of them, and quickly..." he said, looking to where their fire was throwing up earth in front of the line of musketmen. They were just getting their range, but soon, if they were indeed firing musket balls as he suspected, they would rip the line to shreds like grapeshot.

"FORWARD MEN!" shouted the Colonel, high up on his horse. Three horses had already been shot down and two of their riders killed also. The Officers urged their men on with sabres glinting in the sun. The line had sped up, only to walk into the machinegun fire which took heavy toll. Two company had lost a quarter of its man power and five company almost a half. Suddenly, the rifles opened up on the right flank, aiming across at the tanks.

The PWS Victor had been at sea for weeks now. Their compasses appeared to be mal-functioning and their radio masts were destroyed, but the sattelite comms and GPS appeared to work. Well they appeared as though they should work... Still, it was nuclear fueled and so that was no problem, and the ship had been piled high with supplies before they left. The Victor and her three accompanying destoyers had left Praefele on a search and rescue mission three months ago, but they had found nothing and now appeared to be lost themselves. At any rate, they were now in uncharted waters far beyond the weird NS-y range of friendly patrols.

"Captain! Land sighted off the port bow! We can see a settlement of some kind, and a port..."

"Excellent! Anywhere we can berth the Victor?"

"No sir... it's no where near big enough for the aircraft carrier. It appears quite old..."

"Ah, well. Few places can accomodate a carrier. I hope these people have at least heard of Praetonia..."

Brigadier Napier returned to his army, furious with the insolence of the Brigadier-General. Did the nation of 'Red Tide' believe itself to be superior to every other nation on Earth? Did it believe that it had the right to choose what they wanted from another nation's territory. It seemed only one thing could solve the matter.

Reaching his Brigade a couple of minutes later, he drew his Officers to him, and outlined his plan. Then he ordered his men to begin their tasks. Cannon were brought forward from the backs of the columns as companies broke rank and formed into line, two ranks deep. Cavalry companies trotted forward to the flanks, unsheathing their weapons for the advance. A couple of battalions of infantry broke formation, marching away from the forming force, ready to hit the enemy in a flanking manoeuvre later in the battle. Napier noticed the General's helicopter buzzing around overhead, and wondered what it was there for. Finally, when all was ready, the mass of men began advancing.

Many citizens didn't know what to make of the fight. It was unbelievable. However, with only one ship off the coast, there was an aura of calm across the settlement. It was as if the boat were merely a figment of their imagination. It was unlike anything anyone had seen before. Seeing the bizarre and ungodly helicopter begin its attack, a sudden wave of fear set in over the men. This flying object was suddenly unleashing devastation amongst the gun crews and their horses. A long burst of flame was erupting from its underbelly with a colossal roar, and wherever it pointed, pockets of dirt or blood were thrown into the air. As the helicopter strafed the cannon, rapidly repeating metal clinks were heard as the bullets hit the cannon, and ricocheted off at an angle, while splinters were thrown where bullets pierced the limbers of the cannon, pitching cannon and horse at an angle as the links between them were severed. But the army had marched into oncoming cannonfire before. It had fired its muskets at cavalry, artillery, infantry, and always known victory. It was only about half a minute before officers organised their troops. Companies took aim at the helicopter, firing from all around it with their volleys of fire. Clouds of smoke emerged from the companies as they fired in half-companies, each volley of around 50 musketballs spreading out over a large area to pepper the helicopter with their fire. Very soon, much of the army was engulfed in a mass of gunpowder smoke with stang the eyes and tasted sour in the mouth, yet still the troops fired.

IC:The helicopter continued to pour down machinegun fire. The soldiers found themselves firing at the armored bottom and sides. The cockpits windows were bulletproofed. Also, given the inaccuracy of muskets, most of the musket balls flew wide. The helicopter abandoned hovering and shooting however and switched to a strategy that made it much harder to hit.... flying and strafing much like a airplane would. It speed made it very hard to hit with the muskets. Doing this it finished off any remainging cannons and began to strafe the infantry columns.

The gunners were obviously gunned down by the snipers in the tree, but it wasn't over yet. They still had a surprise to give them. The commanders inside the tanks ordered the men to close the hatches, and they did. Johan of course didn't care what happened, he was too busy running the colony. And so it began.

"Fire!"

The coaxial machineguns started opening fire on the unfortunate line. Nothing would stop the tank column. Well, not muskets anyway. And so, the co-ax guns started firing on anything with a musket or a strange looking uniform. So that pretty much meant anything.

The machineguns had withered them badly, but this was to be expected in modern war. The troops were trained to keep going in the face of grapeshot and musketry, and this was not even proper musketry. The line was long and thin, and so the areas inside the firing arcs of th guns were scoured, but the Colonel shouted orders that the Corporals and Sergeants were to pull men aside to save as many as possible for the attack. Nevertheless, of the Battalion of 640, over 92 already lay dead after just a minute of firing.

The Colonel waved his sword and ordered the battalion charge, "Get on the infernal things! Rip them apart!" Quite how they were to do this, he wasnt sure. His riflemen had been firing for some time now, and all of their shots had bounced off.

The Captain of the riflemen light company was a man of learning, and logically reasoned, 'If this 'thing' is a machine, then it must be steam powered, and if it is steam powered then it is vulnerable at the boiler!'

"Come on, men!" He shouted, "we're going round the back! These things have got to have boilers!"

OOC: Since I dont want this thread to dissend into anarchy over the helicopter issue, we will say this:

1) The helicopter managed to kill 25% of the crew for the cannon. Any more is kinda stupid considering that hundreds of pounds of lead were flying at it every minute. Therefore the cannon will fire slower in the impending battle, or some will be abandoned. They also killed a negligeable number of infantry but did manage to scare them a bit.

2) The helicopter is badly damaged and will not be able to fly again without repairs (ie not this battle).

Is this acceptable? It better be.

Also, 5 Humvees with gunners inside the car itself, not a gunner on the back, started approaching the line from behind the T-90s. They were firing their RAR-7Ms, or SAWs, at the column from inside the Humvee. But at most, the colonists found this battle as a nusance.

At the sight of the charging tanks, some men turned and ran, although they really should have stayed. The closer the tanks were the less room they would have for maneuver, and the smaller the effective firing arc of their machineguns would be. Nevertheless, the 4th and 7th Companies broke, running wildly away with most discarding their muskets and packs, and getting mown down in the process. Some men had dropped to the ground, pinned in place. Still, the grenadiers company held firm, as did three others.

"Aim at the... things!" The Colonel shouted, pointing the the humvees. Nothing he had done to the machines had made much difference, but he knew that that would be different when he had some cannon. Maybe they'd even come with some experiemental shell-firing heavy howitzers?

Meanwhile, the Light Company, which had not taken any casualties being so far to the right and out of sight, had ran into the open and now men crouched to fire into the rear of the tanks, hoping to hit the boiler. If it was even there...

on board the UWS Warrior:
"Captain Raynor, unidentified land mass sighted." Radar Officer Jal Nalgrun was beside herself with amazment.

"WHAT" Captain Jim Raynor obviously agreed with her amazment.

the UWS Warrior had been part of a carrier battle group when it had been cast off course by a large storm. With their long range communications and main gun batteries down, it had been the best they could do to keep moving. Now they had sighted land.

"Have 20 marines suit up, we're going ashore!"

20 minutes later Captain Raynor and 20 crack marines where standing on land, land, called Pitalis.

Nashakui is currently in a state of disorder. It is a land of trial warfare, a land where one tribe, the tribe of Atkapa, is dominant, yet not strong or organised enough to occupy the whole island.

The Atkapans worship their god, Khul. They dance around fires, chant, shreik and yell. They beleive they will be aided in battle. And, they continue to beleive this is true, as they are favoured in battle. Their weapons are roughly the same, strong, and produced quickly, and in bulk. They are very skilled in the training of horses to cope with battle conditions, and use them very effectively. They use successful tactics, ambushes, night raids, and use their numbers to their advantage.. They use fire excessively, not only in battle, but all over, in worship, and in daily life.

They hold, however, one belief, very closely, that one day, maybe tommorrow, maybe in millions of years, Khul will deem them complete, and the world will end. When this happens, they must run into the sea, with all their weapons, and, if it is brave enough, and if they have one, their horse.

The other tribes are more barbarian, and unorganised. Their wepons differ, they do not hold formation, and go into battle without a plan. They make and break alliances. That is what keeps the Atkapans at bay.

((OOC: Ok, I didn't realise this thread existed. I'll do a few internal battles, maybe external if it would be possible, then force the day of reckoning. ANd then I'll start up properly.))
