Pacitalia

TIMIOCATO (PPA) - It has been a mind-boggling thirty-eight years since a person was last nominated for the Capostication. Today, the period of wait ended with Prime Minister Timothy Ell's announcement that Sarzonian President Mike Sarzo and his Senior Vice President of Internal Affairs, Nicole Lewis; were both up for Capostication.
The Capostication is Pacitalia's highest honour - many in Pacitalia and abroad consider it the world's highest honour. It is a selective process, for sure: only twenty-one people before Sarzo and Lewis have ever been nominated in the Capostication's 501-year history. The last to be nominated was the sixteenth Prime Minister of Pacitalia, Rabastano Pietro Grazzo, who served from 1945-1957. He was nominated in 1966 for his contributions to peace in Pacitalia's surrounding neighbours and accepted the award.
Winners of the Caposticate nomination receive their own section of the Capostica, a museum adjacent to the Caza della Legislatorio Parlemento. Each section is dedicated to one winner of the prestigious award, containing memorabilia the person wishes to donate to the display, a written biography and a large black and white photograph.
"I have personally requested the nomination of Mr. Sarzo and Ms. Lewis to the Capostication," Prime Minister Ell told the media at a press conference today. "Their efforts to bring stability and democracy back to the nation they love so much was inspiring to all Pacitalians, and they are both definitely deserving of this award."
PM Ell is referring to the recent incidents in Sarzonia where Terrence Wilson, a disgruntled former second-in-command at that nation's defence ministry seized power in a bloodless coup, including the capture of Sarzo and the forcing of Lewis to flee to Isselmere-Nieland. However, Sarzo and the pro-democratic forces of Sarzonia and her allies, including the Pacitalian SAFD, eventually prevailed, with Sarzo exacting personal justice on Wilson.
This is the sixth time that someone outside Pacitalia has won the Capostication. The last was the former Duzchama of Anubisyrria in 1849, Victor Busch.
Prime Minister Ell has contacted his two friends in Sarzonia and notified them of their nominations. Mr. Sarzo has replied, and they both agree that it's best to hold off on the Capostication ceremonies until after the GLNP situation ( link (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=381025) ) is resolved and the Woodstock Pact ( link (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=382228) ) is agreed upon.
