Following an "undisclosed medical problem" with the Czar, the Czarina has assumed control of the Federation until such time that the Czar may resume running the nation without compromising his health.

The announcement of the Czarina assuming temporary control as Head of State came a few hours ago, after rumors began floating that the Czar was bed-ridden after suffering a mild heart attack. The Czarina has denied such rumors and stated only that, "The Czar needs some rest and your prayers, in time, he will be fine."

Officially, the Czar transferred the power of decree to the Czarina less than an hour before he was due to leave for a nearly six week trip to include several days of peace talks in Chile, a four week pilgrimage to the Holy Land, and then several days in eastern Canada to talk peace. However a medical problem prevented him from leaving and thus the power of decree remains in the hands of the Czarina, Alice Fabus.


Ooc- It is true, he had a heart attack, but he doesn't want anybody to know, and thus Alice respects his wishes.

ooc: Why would he have a heart attack? Wouldn't his doctors notice something abnormal during his probably frequent and regular checkups? Given your nation's paranoia when it comes to security, I would assume that the Czar's health would be regularly checked.

Ooc- Excessive drinking, tobacco use, and his recent increased stresses. He has no heart condition, it was just a one time occurrence.

OOC: My understanding of heart attacks (being that my father has had one previously and survived) is that once you had one, you are more likely to have another at some point in your life... that said you could only ever have one, it's just more likely that you'll have another. I think they ask you to settle down a bit at least and keep an eye on you for a year or so after.

My best to the Czar. I do hope he will recover, and, in the meantime, I hope that Alice will prove to be a more than competent ruler.

"I don't have any expansion ideas planned for the Commonwealth because Roger never had any standing plans, and thus I wouldn't want to go against his wishes. And besides, I consider myself, like him, an isolationist. It will just be business as usual. Although I think I'll have some of the government buildings painted light blue and others painted pink."

His emperorship Alexander I of the Alexian empire would like to personally wish great Czar a speedy return to health, and Roger will most certainly be in his prayers.

"I assume that there would be temporary anarchy and mass scale looting and rioting, until some other royal would regain control using the army. It would likely be most economically devastating." said Ali.
