Pacitalia bans anime, manga and Japanese media forms!

TIMIOCATO (PPA) - Members of Parliament voted overwhelmingly in favour of a total ban on all forms of Japanese media, as well as on anime, a Japanese artform and manga, Japanese comic books inside Pacitalia's sovereign boundaries.

Paulina Cessaniti, the Agustinate of Culture and Heritage, introduced the bill today to raucous cheers and applause in the one-hundred-and-twenty-seat Caza della Legislatorio Parlemento.

"This artform is not only disturbing, it has led to a proven increase in unlawful sexual deviance and crime in Pacitalia," Signora Cessaniti said as she read the contents of her legislation package today. "Our citizens see rape and carnal acts of intercourse, serious destructions of human rights and twisted storylines in these so-called artworks and think that the actions of these characters can be related to real life."

The honourable Signora Cessaniti then referred to a case of rape three days ago where a 22-year-old male forced a woman two years his junior to have sexual intercourse with him. When arrested, he explained to police he was just acting out what he had seen the previous night on "Takahashi Kuro Sushi Master", a popular anime television program.

Another related case of criminal behaviour stemming from anime and manga occurred in 2001. A 14-year-old female shot her 12-year-old sister execution style with her father's pistol. She also argued she had just been acting out something she had seen on an anime show.

"It doesn't matter whether you're acting it out or not, you still did it," says Cessaniti. "What matters is that anime is morally wrong and we are doing our best to keep our people safe from this ridiculous waste of paper, film and man hours."

The ban goes into effect immediately. Army men are going door-to-door to rid households of the materials. The nation will be searched high and low for this disturbing artform, then all things related to it will be burned in an incinerator.

In related news, 211 Japanese tourists committed suicide in a Timiocato square to protest the actions by the government. Their bodies will be added to the incinerator.

This is a nice gesture by Kyanges, and we thank you for your interest in saving this art, but we'd rather rid the world of anime and manga. And since we do not believe in forcing other nations to do what we do, we'll just do it inside our own borders and be done with it.Paulina Cessaniti

Too much of the mainstream stuff today is garbage. Try reading the "classics," like Ranma 1/2 (really good if you have an open mind, and no killing or sex). Love Hina is also really good, if a bit suggestive in a playful (but most romantic comedies are).

There are also plenty of good anime. The Gundam series is a staple, but you have to be careful not to watch the stupid ones. "8th MS Team," "0083 Stardust Memory," and "War in the Pocket" are my personal favorites. "Trigun" is an action-packed tale about a gunslinger who doesn't kill, and often goes entire episodes without even firing his gun. "Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust" (Bloodlust is not to be confused with the original "D") is a visually stunning movie about a half-vampire who hunts his full-blooded (excuse the pun) brethren. D is unlike most other vampires in that he is a truly good guy, and struggles to maintain some humanity.

The good stuff is out there, and if you want any more info, just TG me.

Hehe i know what you shoulda put in this thread.

A 14 year old male sliced his penis off, and replaced it with 8 legs of an Ocotopus, in order to recreate "Tentacles" As the boy put it

A 18 year old male raped a 12 year old girl, however was not using his penis, but instead was sending a 10 foot anaconda into her vaginal area.

(OOC: A fellow Gundam fan. I would support the watching/reading of Ranma 1/2 and certain Gundam series (0083 and 0080 as stated) as well as Neon Genesis Evangelion which tends to be a mixed, at times being comedic while at other times being rather deep. Same with Trigun. If you're seriously against it I ask you atleast give it one more try. Anime isn't simply the childish stuff you see on Cartoon Network.)

Anime is a style of animated entertainment most commonly produced in Japan. Unlike animated productions in "Western" nations, anime is not just for children. It has many genres, themes, etc. making it more similar to our live-action television programming than to "cartoons." Also like our TV shows, some anime is good and some anime is crap. In the experience of New Exodus arts critics, good anime is exceptionally enjoyable, while bad anime is often terrible.

Edit: Geez, I knew I was forgetting something. "Neon Genesis Evangelion" is about as good as it gets for Sci-fi/action/drama/horror/etc. Not to mention it will make you ask yourself some hard questions.

Also, a major stigma with anime is that many Westerners automatically associate it with either children's cartoons, or with hentai (anime porn). This would be like saying that all live-action television is either childish beacuse you only watched "Lizzie McGuire," or that all is pornographic because you tuned in to the Playboy channel.

"And in other news today, the Edolian Ministry of Pornography announced today that its High Risk division was beginning plans to open up pornography websites targetted to the people of Pacitalia. The new manager in charge of Pacitalian operations gave a brief statement to the press.”

‘I’m really excited about this project. For one, we’re really going to be able to give the new Shaky Services a test-run. We’ve installed a number of different safeguards that program these things to try to unblock themselves, as well as shift their urls and IP addresses. This means that blocking one of our sites, or keeping it blocked for long, would be a difficult job. But the really great thing about this is that we’re expanding our operations into an entirely new field: Although we are setting up some porno sites targeted to Pacitalians, we’re also going to be working with illicit materials, in this case anime. We’ve realized that there is a lot of money to be made by tapping into the desires of the millions of Pacitalians who are now deprived of their favorite form of art. We’re keeping it simple, so that with a simple and fully secure credit card payment, you can download all the anime and manga you could want. We’re going to be doing these people a service and making money.'

Message from the Syranese government:

While the Rosa Administration honors the Pacitalian decision, it is greatly disturbed and offended by the obvious abridgment of free speech caused by this senseless ban. President Rosa said this earlier in the day.

"Well, if you're going to ban something just because you consider it mindless crap, then why stop with anime? No offense, but if that's their goal, they should ban all television and movies, the live action ones. Most of them have the same level of content, as well as the same stupidity. And the gems are just as rare. I mean, get real!"

The President muttered for a good hour afterward, before watching several episodes of one of his favorite animes, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and began to debate with himself on the meaning of life afterward.

The Rosa Administration has taken this action of Pacitilia with alarm. Breaking down freedom of speech is the first sign of tyranny, it said in its official report on the matter.

When asked about whether pulling Syranese troops out of Pacitilia was an option for this action, Syranese officials said this.

"We are not going to begin pulling out troops for this event. In fact we were planning to increase troops in the region. However, we shall postpone such increases until they are deemed necessarry now."

VEIN IN FOREHEAD!" and certainly none of that immature falling over...

IC: Kriegorgrad condones this action in the greatest way possible, we are eternally glad that another nation has cleansed itself of the filth that infests peoples' minds, people soon start thinking that because someone in "Gundam Wing" can survive a 100 foot drop from a "mecha," they can survive it as well.

The brief period in which "Gundam Wing" was allowed to be seen in Kriegorgrad led to a huge increase in fatalities and broken legs.

1. Yea, I know. I'm actually just in New York state in the US. They act like a cult group or something.

2. Agreed, but if it's good for his country's future, the people will be thankful in the end. But whether it will be good in the long term is debatable.

STUDENTS PROTEST AGAINST PACITALIA'S ANTI JAPANESE MEDIA POLICIES

Today over 1000000 students and art lovers alike gathered to protest Pacitalia's Media ban. "It upsets me, first Japanesese media is banned then what will happen next? Deportation or imprisonment of Japanese?" Said Famous Art Critic Gongini Guzzepis. Pacitalia's leader recently declared that all forms of anime, manga and Japanese media forms are to be burned and banned within his country. Already some nation have supported their actions. However President Gyrobot the 13th have disagreed and desires to see action taken against Pacitalia and to help the people who artwork have been forbidden by the government. "I am also an anime fan myself, not only for the entertainment but because I disapprove of cultural suppression it as long term will create racism." Currently The Holy Republic is granting citizenship to any Pacitalia's anime fans or artist as an attempt to increase the economy and improve divertsity among its people.

The Roycelandian Asian Films & Entertainment Act sets out certain legal requirements in relation to Hong Kong Action Films, Anime, Manga, and most other Asian films and enterainment works.

- All Hong Kong Action/Martial Arts films MUST be dubbed into English in such a way that the dubbing does not match up with the actor's mouths or facial expressions all the time (a la Kung Pow: Enter The Fist

- All Manga MUST feature at least one gratuitious Lesbian Sex scene involving a variety of interesting "adult toys", or, alternatively, a Motorbike Chase with lots of random explosions and gunfire.

-All Anime MUST feature at least one scene in which a giant Robot levels Tokyo, preferably with lasers and/or fire breathing. In the event of a Giant Robot not being in the story somewhere, Godzilla (or any other Radioactive Monster) may be substituted

- All Anime, Manga, and Asian Films MUST feature Bullet Time, a Gun Fight, or, if appropriate, a Sword Fight

- All Anime, Manga, and Asian Films MUST "Make Sense"- ie, no strange confusing plots that make no sense, no weird editing, and so on.

Other than that, Roycelandian Citizens can watch Anime, Manga, and Asian Films to their heart's content...

Yes, I agree with you there, like anything else, it can be interpreted many different ways. The way I was told though, made it seem as if there was sort of intentional hidden plot, or some underlying message. It is frustrating to know that some nations think we intend to jail the makers of anime. We don't. We only intend to destroy their art and tell them to go find something else to do. Hardly a crime against humanity. Get your facts straight before you accuse one of the freest nations in the world of crimes against humanity.

How can you not like anime, those big eyed girls are cute.

OK, so Japanese culture is a bit different, but what you have to remember is that there are all types of anime in Japan from kiddy shows to porno, and everything in between. Animation is a very popular form of entertainment in Japan.

Be it known that the Japanese have a very different view of human nudity than in most of the west. There are series that are marketed to teens in Japan that have a lot of nudity and racy situations by western standards. If you're a parent it would be a good idea to view a few episodes before letting the kids watch it.

I call upon all nations to combat the spread of undead forces, specifically the vampiric menace being organized by the nation of Advent Nebula.

Moreover, I urge all nations, when faced by the bloodsuckers, to call upon the famous vampire hunters: D (Vampire Hunter D), Miyu (Vampire Princess Miyu), Yohko (Demon Hunter Yohko), Saya (Blood: the Last Vamprie), Alucard (Castlevania: Symphony of the Night), and the Belmont Family (Castlevania). Though we see the movement in Pacitalia as an offense to our nation, we will not go to war over such trivial matters. Hiroshiko respects the wishes of Pacitalia. If anime must be banned there, then so be it.

The Soverign Nation of Hiroshiko recognizes the needs of the Pacitalian government. We will send your ambassador home as well. Because you have allowed our embassy to normally function, even under this condition, we will let the Pacitalian embassy to stay open. I am happy that you wish to remain in good terms with Pacitalia. We certainly wish to keep a strong relationship with your great nation, and were saddened to learn of these sanctions on Japanese media leading to your breaking of ties. Thank you for keeping our embassy there open as a sign of your openness to restore ties, and in response to Pacitalia permitting your embassy to remain in regular operation status. I hope we can work this out quickly and peacefully.
