Angelican Defense Modernization Makes Headways

The reforms of the military had taken on a new urgency with the recent news of the World Anti-Communist League’s listing of Angelico as fifth on their ‘target list’ of states to be overthrown. A variety of reforms already in process took on a new priority with this new and dangerous threat.

The three corps of the Angelican Army had been reorganized for both offensive and defensive operations, with one corps absorbing the more modern technology T-72 and T-80U tank designs, and ‘Flying Brigades’ equipped with BMP-3 fighting vehicles. The three ‘Flying Brigades’ were meant for expeditionary operations, able to deploy quickly and operate for long periods in a high-speed, mobility warfare environment. A Fourth brigade, made up of BMD-3 vehicle variants, was the spearhead unit for an Angelican airborne division.

Research and development had begun on the first generation of Angelican UCAV vehicles. These would be used in a ground strike role, and as technology testbeds for a stealthy, highspeed second generation vehicle. Plans were in the works for more than a dozen final variants of the second generation craft.

A $150,000,000,000 expansion package was already being eyed by Angelican Commanders, and had been approved by the President pending the closure of a deal with CSJ.

Training operations were underway along the coast, the Danube, and the Southern mountain range, in order to prepare for the rapid expansion of the armed forces.
