Opening of the widened White Sea-Baltic Canal
Baltic Karelia has decided to open the White Sea-Baltic Canal for other nations to use.
After three years of widening work with the canal it's finally all done. Now it's possible for a Nimitz class carrier to pass thru the waterway.
The maximum beam of a ship allowed in the canal is 260 feet (80 meters) and the maximum length is 1100 feet (335 meters). Maximum draught is 40 feet (12 meters).
The waterway that's completely inside our nation borders starts in St. Petersburg (Gulf of Finland, Baltic Sea) and ends up in Belomorsk (The White Sea), passing several seas.
One absolute condition to have permission to enter the canal is that your nation must not have bad relations with Baltic Karelia.
If you have an embassy in our country (or at least some kind of diplomatic relations) it will simplify matters.
Military ships will only be granted to pass upon request (permanent allowance available).
A map of the canal is available here (http://members.fortunecity.se/kopparbergs/baltic-canal.gif).
Sincerely,
Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Björn Ramnäve
