Reporter, CTV: We are here live from the Electorial Palace in Tunis, the capitol of Cotland, where there's been high level negotiations between Neo Sephrioth commander Dante and Slaytaniccan Prime Minister Jeff C Gorevomit. The host of the negotiations, Cotlands Elected Leader Thomas Rothsky is expected to come out any minute now and announce the progress betw...

the reporter stopped talking and turned towards the opening doors. The soldiers posted outside saluted the person coming thru the doors. It was an aide.

Aide: There will be opportunities to ask questions later. Ladies and Gentlemen, the Elected Leader of the Free Land of Cotland.

As soon as the aide had said who was coming, a smiling Thomas Rothsky walked into the room and headed for the podium. The reporters all stood up in respect to the Cottish head of state.

Rothsky: Ladies and Gentlemen. I have a statement to make. Tonight, here in the Electorial Palace in downtown Tunis, the representatives of the Dominion of Neo Sephrioth and the Rouge Nation of Slaytanicca reached an agreement to establish a ceasefire between the to nations military forces for the duration of the negotiations. Neo Sephrioth commander Dante and Slaytaniccan Prime Minister Gorevomit will continue the negotiations in the morning. It is my hope that the negotiations will bring with them peace and stability to the two nations. Any questions?

A young white reporter dressed in a plaid shirt, jeans, and a baseball cap stood up with a pencil and notepad in hand: "Yes.. uh.. I have a question about Slaytanicca's foreign activities as of late. Will this cease fire free up the military to take action against Southeast USA as once threatening? What is Slaytanicca's relationship with the West Pacific?" He stops, awaiting answers, but stays up to show that he has more questions.

A mummer carried across the group of press officials from Slaytanicca, then several of them signalled they had a question. The man who was picked stood up rather quickly, spilling a folder of documents across the floor. He fielded his question undaunted.

"Rick 'Shitmaggot' Nylander, Slaytaniccan Herald. President Rothsky, has the Sephrion President Dante given his reasons for the declaration and prompt assault on the nation of Slaytanicca?"



Meanwhile, Gorevomit had finished making his calls. The limo had taken him to the conference hall and he was rapidly talking to the aides, trying to ascertain the progress of the meeting.

"Very well. Could you inform him I'm here, please? If he wants me to take questions with him, I'd be more than happy to. Otherwise I'll go on later. I'd be much obliged if you informed me when.. many thanks."

He took the chair which was offered him and promptly fell asleep.

A Cottish aide got the telephone call from the Slaytaniccan delegation.

Aide: Sir, you'll get on in a few minutes. Elected Leader Rothsky is just taking a few questions.

Meanwhile, on stage

Rothsky: As I said just a moment ago Mr. Nylander, it's still early in the negotiations. I'm sure that the issue will be cleared up within the next few days. I'll personally ask commander Dante about that. The proper title is 'Elected Leader', by the way.

He threw in one of those smiles that had helped him win the last election. It always did the trick.

Rothsky: Anyone else?

A young Cottish reporter stood up.

Reporter: Sir, there's been called in bomb-threaths from both Neo Sephriothan and Slaytaniccan seperatists. How does the Cottish government respond to those threaths?

Rothsky: I've heard those threaths myself, and I assure you all that the Cottish military has it all under control. Bomb-checks are being conducted at random intervals, and the Electorial Guards, who are responsible for the safety of the representatives, have orders to shoot first and don't ask questions later if they find the situation to be threathening. Does that awnser you question miss? Anyone else?

The reporter sat down while Rothsky threw another one of those smiles out.

The Slaytaniccan returned his smile with a 'touche' look, and the mummer from the groups of Slaytaniccans peaked for a moment.

"Many thanks, Elected Leader."

He sat down, and more Slaytanicans clamoured to ask a question.

Rothsky looked over at the side of the room straight at an aide motioning for him to finish.

Rothsky: Onemore question, and then I'll have to hand over the floor to someone else.

He looked over at the Slaytaniccans.

Rothsky: Yes?

ooc: don't have too much time. It's 00.20 here in Norway you know, and I have to get up at 7. Nobody have any more questions?

Another Slaytaniccan stood up to field a question.

"Beth 'Bloodfester' Andersson, Slaytaniccan Free National. Will the Sephrioth military be leaving Slaytaniccan soil and waters?"

Rothsky: Yes, I believe that that issue will be demanded by Mr Gorevomit. However, it's still to early to go out and say that this and that will happen.
I believe that that was the last question for me. You've been a great press corps. Thank you.

And with that remark, Elected Leader Thomas Rothsky stepped down from the podium for the day. As he exited the press-room, an aide gently awoke the sleeping Slaytaniccan Prime Minister.

Aide: Sir. Sir, wake up sir. Sir, they need you on stage.
As the prime minister woke with a schock, he was immediatelly calmed by the look of the Cot. At the same time, he heard the door to the press-room being opened.

Another aide: Ladies and Gentlemen, the Prime Minister of Slaytanicca.

ooc: sorry for stealing your rp for a moment, I felt it neccesary.

ooc: yeah, rothsky's a career politician. He's used to taking the crap, and giving completely logical and sound answers to them. It won him the place in the Electorial Palace ;)

BTW: just rp a little then, damn it. I'm gonna hang around for a few more minutes, then I'm off to bed. I'l only get a few hours sleep anyway... really fun when you have a important exam the next day..

Jeff walked down the corridor in silence. Figures loomed out of every shadow, and twice he had to catch himself from trying to talk with one. Good god, he thought. Not another fucking one of these..

His head had cleared considerably by the time he had reached the stage, but the crowd and flash cameras quickly put his brain out of focus again. He squinted at the lights for a moment as he stood behind the podium, then lowered his head and smiled slightly. As the flashes grew less frequent, he raised his face again and began to slowly speak.

"Friends, as you know the a state of war currently exists between the nations of Slaytanicca and Neo Sephrioth. This morning we recieved communiques from both Neo Sephrioth, informing us they were willing to negotiate for peace, and the office of the Elected Leader of Cotland Thomas Rothsky who welcomed us to a peace conference in this fair nation. We have begun negotiations. As you are probably aware by now, a cease-fire agreement now exists between the nations of Neo Sephrioth and Slaytanicca. Both nations have indeed promised to honour the agrement until the peace talks are over.

"I would be pleased to answer any questions on the issue you may have."

He sat down, putting both hands on the podium, and an aide ran over and talked rapidly for a moment. He nodded and murmured a reply, then stood up once again.

"Regarding a question from the nation of Souteast USA. Concievably, yes, the military could be used to assault Southeast USA. However this would be extremely unwise, even if we wished such an act. The current cease-fire is entirely temporary, and will exist only until the end of these talks. Furthermore there has been no clearzone agreed. Sephrion ships can currently stay as close as they wish to Slaytaniccan waters. An assault by Slaytanicca on the nation of Southeast USA would put our nation at considerable risk at this time, as well as being completely unfounded.

"In reponse to your second question, Slaytanicca has no diplomatic links to the nation of West Pacific whatsoever, and has had very little diplomatic contact with the nation.

"I would, however, like to say we are extremely upset by the current state of affairs in your proud nation. If the elected leaders wish for military aid from Slaytanicca in the future we would be willing to give it."

A older Cottish reporter neatly dressed in a beige suit stood up, indicating that he had a question. Then, when the Prime Minister looked in his general direction, he siezed the opportunity.

Reporter: Sir, Jamal Housseini, Cottish Times. We've heard rumors that both Neo Sephrioth and Slaytanicca has frozen any weapons purchases while you negotiate. Can you confirm that?

He remained standing, showing that he had more questions.

The slaytaniccan saw Dante waiting at the side of the stage, and subtley signalled one of the aides to come over. While the cameras flashed and people murmured at his last statement he talked a little under his breath, away from the mic.

"If he wishes, Dante is invited to join me in anwering these questions. I feel it'd show the world our good intentions. If he wants, of course. Could you sort that out, please? Thanks.."

He turned back to the gathered press as the man left the stage to talk to the management.

The young man from earlier had scribbled a few things on his notepad, although seeming to have nothing to do with the current topics at hand. Waiting awhile after his first questions were answered he stood once more, "Micheal Newson from Confederate First news, Southeast USA... I have another question for Slaytanicca... Does the Slaytaniccan government not find it hypocritical of the West Pacific to take revenge on a country, threatening bloodshed and hostility, when they had denounced said country for the exact same thing? Not to mention on a much... much... smaller scale, and beyond government control." He paused for a second seemingly waiting for a response, but continued before anyone else could speak, "And are the rumors of Slaytaniccan funding and support of terrorist cells in Southeast USA that want to bring harm to the country? Does your country have no shame in backing these rebels?" After getting some strange looks, he finally takes his seat.

OOC: Cheers SEUSA for posting! This is certainly an interesting dilemma for my PM, and although he wasn't planning on taking questions of this type he's tired and likely to say something daft, and will certainly respond to your question. Unfortunately I think Cotland wants to wait for Seph before my guy takes any questions, and this thread's mangled the laws of time enough already thanks to me. I'll TG you when Gorevomit replies if you want!

An aide came in on the stage and pushed the PM away for a moment, just in time to say

before 6 soldiers came rushing in on stage with their weapons trained on the aide, pushed him down on the ground, hand-cuffed him and pulled him of stage while yelling to him to "shut the f**k up you damn terrorist!"

"Um.. could you stop that guys? It's my fault, I said Dante could come on if he wished. Stop doing tha.. oh for the love of.. um, Slaytanicca takes full responsibility for your injuries, man."

Soldier #1: Stay out of this sir. This man is a terrorist. He touched you sir. It's our job to keep that from happening. We appologize sir.

Soldier #2 ran off crying, followed by two other soldiers. Tre remaining three pulled the poor "terrorist" away while reading him his rights.

Soldier #5: You have the right to remain silent. Anyhing you say can be used against you in a federal court. Any information we obtain from you during torture... I mean interregation, will be used against you. You have a right for an attourney present during your trial. If you can't afford an attourney, to bad f**ker, you'll get a washed-up idiot fresh out of law school. Do you understand your rights?

Aide: Y-y-y-yes....

And with that, the (paranoid) soldiers from the Electorial Guard dragged the poor aide off the stage, M9s and XM-8 PDWs still trained on the hand-cuffed, blind-folded bastard. (They had lost an Elected Leader before, and didn't intend on loosing anyone else ever again.)

OOC: Yeah just reply on it man.

"Excellent, good work. Please treat him well, though. Like I said, I'm accepting responsibility for this man's well being."

Jeff hoped he'd remember to get all this sorted out, if possible without slagging off the otherwise impeccable security. He glanced over at Dante, who'd begun chanting something or other and making strange gestures. Possibly some sort of religious ritual before a public speech, he mused.

The events had unnerved him slightly, but had stopped him worrying too much about the problem at hand. He walked back to the podium more composed, and prepared to make his answer.

"We will not judge the actions of West Pacific at this time. A full statement will be given on my return to Slaytanicca. You must understand my primary reponsibility is to my people..
"In reponse to your second question, Slaytanicca admits to supporting the current elected government in its recent military action. We take no responsibility for the violence in your nation. We feel the casualties of the liberals would have been significant whether they had had funding or whether they had surrendered. Civil war is alsways an ugly matter, and we feel we did what we could to avoid bloodshed and injustice in your nation, and support the soveriegn rights of the elected government.
"Again, further statements will be made on my return to Slaytanicca.
"I hope this anwers your questions Sir. If you gentlemen would excuse me I feel it wise to let Dante of Neo Sephrioth take a few questions. I'm sure you have noticed the recent breach of secuity, and I wish to speak a little with the staff. Many thanks, I will take more questions shortly."

Jeff left the stage feeling a little dizzy. He found a security officer and asked to see the man in charge.

"Sir, the security at this event has been unprecidented in it's competence and tightness. I blame nobody for the recent breach. However, if it is reasonable I'd like to request the man to be tried in Slaytanicca under Slaytaniccan laws, although I'm unaware of Cottish law in regards to attempts on the life of a foreign diplomat."

Jeff left the stage feeling a little dizzy. He found a security officer and asked to see the man in charge.

The Captain responsible for the security looked at the man standing opposed to him. He snapped a salute when he recognised him as the Prime Minister of Slaytanicca.

Captain: Sir. We didn't find any weapons on him, and he says that he is a press aide and that he was going to announce the Neo Sephrioth commander. He's going to be handed over to the police, and they will take it from there. Murder is punishable with death, and attempts on a persons life is punishable with up to life imprisonment or death according to the laws in Cotland sir. As for assault on diplomats, that's most severe sir. The perpetraitor is risking forced labor for life. You're going to have to ask someone else about the thing with extradition sir. It's above my paygrade. The men acted according to current procedures, and I can only appologize for the assault on your person sir. Do you need medical assistance sir?

"Thank you, I'm unharmed. I'm not going to question the judgement of the Cottish security, Sir, and you and the other men have done an admirable job this evening. And of course it's above your paygrade. I wonder what channels this should go through..?"

The Slaytaniccan laughed.

"Of course, Sir. I'll ask Elected Leader Rothsky. Many thanks for your information, and for doing such an excellent job."

He saluted the soldier in return, and went to wait for the Sephrion to stop talking.

The Captain saluted in return, preformed a perfect about-face, and walked off to inspect the defences, just in case a crazy jurnalist would try something fishy.
They had already swiftly and silently "escorted" a few "jurnalists" away down to the basement, where they were being interregated by Cottish intelligence officers, of which one had been caught with a Walther PPK in his underwear. Two had already cracked and confessed that they were going to try to kill Rothsky, Gorevomit or Dante if they had a chance.

The Slaytaniccan heard this from backstage. His earlier mistrust had apparently been warranted, then. He tried to keep a poker face, but was sure his inner dread had surfaced somewhere..

He wouldn't be falling asleep anywhere silly here anymore, he knew that. He'd probably need a little of that bourbon to sleep tonight, too, despite his near debilitating tiredness. What was this shit he'd gotten himself into?

He snapped out of the idiot paranoia soon enough, though. He was here for Slaytanicca, and, in a way, Neo Sephrioth. He couldn't afford to screw up these talks.

"Rick 'Shitmaggot' Nylander, Slaytaniccan Herald. President Dante, what were your reasons for going to war with the peaceful nation of Slaytanicca?" The man's tone was not antagonistic, but forceful nonetheless, and slightly damning.

The man's eyes boggled at Dante for a moment, then he sat down suddenly. Immediately he started scribbling in his notebook, along with half the Slaytaniccan press in the room. The other half were clamouring to ask a question.

Elected Leader Rothsky came on stage with a piece of paper in his hand and a sad look on his face.

Rothsky: I have a statement. It is my sad duty to inform the world that the peace negotiations between Neo Sephrioth and Slaytanicca has failed. The collapse in the negotiations came after several days disagreement at all points. Any further negotiations were useless. It is also my sad duty to inform the fighting forces on either side that the hostilities will no doubt be continued, and further bloodshed is likely unavoidable. Thank you.

He walked of stage, ignoring the shouting journalists.
