Aztec Lands to dramatically increase army size

Aztec Lands

The Aztec Lands, long known for their supreme Imperial Air Force, had a problem during the recent war with SCA: It had approximately 16 divisions (amounting to around 240,000 people) in the land army- a paltry amount. Some countries have larger expeditionary forces.

Though they fought well and efficiently, relying greatly on air support for victory, had the Lands been invaded in a second front, or had approximately five divisions been annihilated, the Imperial Army estimates that the remaining forces would not have been able to defend the nation.

Local militia divisons are formed during wartime, but they are much worse at combat than trained land divisions, according to the notorious October 2002 "Exercise Tenochtitlan" during which militia forces were forced out of the city during a mock battle with the Army. Furthermore, the other ethnic groups in the Aztec Lands (Zapotecs, Maya, and Mixtecs) have wavering loyalty to the Emperor, and have rebelled during war in the past.

The Aztec Lands is planning to upgrade from 16 to 64 divisions of troops:

-26 will be Ocelot Standard Infantry
-8 will be Jaguar Elite Infantry
-4 will be Eagle Paratrooper Infantry
-18 will be Armored (employing both Main Battle Tanks (http://www.army-technology.com/projects/merkava4/images/Merkava4_2.jpg) and Mobile Battle Tanks (http://www.army-technology.com/projects/centauro/images/centauro7.jpg))
-5 will be Mechanized Calvary (making use of armored personnel carriers)
-3 will be Vulture Air Calvary (riding into battle on transport helicopters)

This will raise the army's size from 240,000 to 960,000.

With new size, new technologies, and new will, the Imperial Army is ready to fight.

OOC: How much will this necessarily cost?

Though there was no official statement released by the United-Socialist States of Neo-Soviet Russia, murmurs came forth of curiosity and slight suspicions. They stayed though as just that. Quietly of course the AL fell under the gaze of space-based eyes. Dommar class spy satellites of Schultaria Prime origin with four cameras surveyed and tracked via typical, infrared, and X-ray cameras. Any who actually knew of the satellites' current task knew the reason...past tension arising from a spycraft of AL origin over ANL territory. The Aztec National League being a trusted allie of the USSNSR.

OOC: I would suggest you do a bit more than 64. You do need a number of divisions for logistical purposes, as well as other non-combat support functions.

Those are main combat divisions. Truckers, air transport, and even air calvary combat (attack choppers) were left out.

(OOC: Understood. I was more just making sure incase you didn't consider that, not that I'm trying to make you seem ignorant or anything. And i'm hoping that last part didn't sound bad/offensive/something...oi.)

A country my size with mandatory military service would have a larger army than you. Doesn't that strike you as mildly odd?

That's one branch.

Keep in mind the air force is MASSIVE. The Navy is also being reconstructed, following the loss of one of our carriers.
