The cameras focused on the center podium in what looked like a large newsroom. A tall man approached it; he was Javier Loud, Secretary of Culture and Society. The lights went dim, except for the one directly above the podium. Javier began to speak:

"Greetings, citizens and all people around the world, especially Christians. I would like all Christians to bring their children in front of the television screen."

Javier waited approximately 3 minutes and began speaking again.

"Hello, children. I am here to tell you something. Santa does not exist. The man whom Santa is based on died many years ago. Deer do not fly and the north pole is a desolate and cold place. If you didn't already know this, your parents are lying to you. They are lying for their own enjoyment, at your expense."

The cameras then went blank. Javier walked away from the podium laughing.

"Secretary Loud, there is a call for you." said a man who handed a phone to Javier.

"This is Secretary Javier Loud of Itinerate Tree Dweller, may I ask the nature of this call?" said Javier into the phone.

"Hello, Mr. Loud, or should I say, Mr. Grinch. I am President Holtz of Holy Paradise. I saw your message to Christian children and I am outraged. You attacked Christmas, and not because Santa has been revealed to the children as false, which all adults know, but you killed off the magic of Christmas, the shine in children's eyes every Christmas morning seeing new presents under the tree, believing that Santa Claus, a worldwide figure of generousity and magic, was in their house. Therefore, sir, you are nothing but a selfish, cruel Grinch. You're definately a mean one." President Holtz replied.

"It has always been my policy to tell the truth to people, no matter how much the truth hurts. Besides, belief in a fictional being takes away from the true nature of the holiday. Though ITD maintains a separation of church and state, we cannot let the Christian church openly lie to children. If that makes me a grinch, then fine." Javier replied.

It's not about being a lie. Yes it is a lie, but isn't it one that everyone wants to believe? Taking that away from children, who adore magic and presents, is worse than telling them that it is true. I want you to tell them though, that Santa is real, but although he's not alive, his spirit lives on, for it does. Right now, millions, maybe even billions, of children across the world are crying because you had to crush their belief in Santa. Children will grow up, and their parents will tell them the truth. How about we leave such a topic as Santa Claus to families, okay?" Holtz replied.

"The sooner these children grow up and stop believing in nonsense like Santa, the sooner they will become productive members of the human race." said Javier

"So that's what its all about, huh? Productivity. Money. The future. Have you ever thought about the present time? Have you ever thought of what the children want, what they believe in, what they do, what they feel? Being a good politician isn't doing what is best for the government, its doing what is best for the people, and the best thing for the people in this case is keeping the belief in Santa alive."

The emperor was most displeased by this. Now the children had no use for their stockpiles of SA7s and stingers...
