"Sir, we have an anomaly." (FT RP, attn 'Galactic Republic')

THIS IS THE SECRET PART

Cassius Longarm sat at his desk, reading troop manifests and construction progress reports and various other forms of bureaucratic tedium, when one of the Archonal Viewscreens activated.

Former Admiral Wintergreen, now Archon of the Godulan Rheinland region, looked back at Cassius with a somewhat worried expression. "Sir, we have an anomaly."

"Please, call me Cassius. We're both Archons, I'm not your superior officer anymore."

"Right... we've got something over here that you might want to see."

Cassius rolled his eyes slightly. "Liiiiiiike?"

"Well, I only received the report yesterday, checked on it this morning, and I'm thinking its important enough to relay on to you and the rest of the Governate. We've got a kid here that can pull some strange stuff."

"Such as?"

"Well sir... we're not entirely sure how much he can do, but I took the liberty of doing some quick research, and we think this might be a case of what some of the other powers call 'Force Sensitivity'. I swear to you, Cassius, what this kid can do, I have NEVER seen before."

Cassius' eyebrows quirked as they usually do. "Any gauge of how strong this 'force sensitivity' might be?"

"I did a quick comparative analysis, from what I read of various files on some of the stronger specimens, we suspect that if this kid isn't off the scale, he's on the edge. You HAVE to see this, Cassius. I swear I'm not shitting you."

Cassius thought for a moment, then stood up. "I'll be there in a couple minutes. The way you're talking, this kid had BETTER sprout flowers from his fingertips."

"I'm not placing that outside the realm of possibility."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

The Progress School was a decent place for orphans and homeless children to grow up in the care of the state. One could actually say that the schools were the only places on Godulan Earth where the grass was green and the sky was blue.

Several teenagers played basketball on one side of the expansive front courtyard, and a group of some thirty children no older than seven were going through a tai-chi routine with an instructor still in his combat uniform.

As Cassius walked up to the front door with Wintergreen following closely behind, he took notice that the children practicing tai-chi were matching their instructor in every way, even when he altered his speed in attempts to trip one or two of them up. There had to be something important about that.

"Ah! Wintergreen! A pleasure to see you again, and so soon!" declared a man who could only be characterized by the word 'happy'. "And this is... By the Archons, Cassius Longarm! This is indeed a very illustrious day for us!"

"Cut it, mister... Stevens," Cassius replied, eyeing the man's I.D. tag. "I'm here because one of your wards has gone and worried mister Wintergreen."

"Yes... yes of course. I'll show you to the child immediately."

As they walked down the hall, Stevens handed Cassius a small datapad that he'd keyed to readout the file of the child in question.

"Kelvin is an odd one, that's for certain. Doesn't seem to like playing games or anything a typical six-year-old does. He spends most of his free time reading in the library. He's already at a tenth grade reading level. We're almost out of books that he hasn't read."

"Ten pages a minute... Eidetic Memory..."

"He can recite passages from our encyclopedias based on entry AND page number."

Cassius cocked an eyebrow at a certain entry in the file, then pointed it out to Stevens. "What does this mean by 'Instantaneous Reflexes'?"

"I suppose you could say he's something of a very fast thinker... almost prescient, really. We had an issue a couple weeks ago when a visiting soldier's weapon went off unexpectedly. By the Archons, Kelvin caught the bullet with his bare hands. He told me all he heard was--"

"A loud bang, and some sizzling noise, then he just reached out and grabbed the bullet," Cassius finished, reading from the file. "Tell me, is there anything this boy can't do? So far, what you've told me is that he's smart enough to act as an entire command staff, and faster than a speeding bullet."

"Well sir, I suppose you could characterize him as 'Emotionally Detached'."

They arrived in a room overlooking what appeared to be several martial arts training areas.

"He's currently going through Self-Defense training. We tried giving him some form of handicap to override his somewhat innate gifts, but it seems as though that only improved his aptitude. After his Self Defense class ends, we can show you the 'cool part'. I'll tell the instructor to let him show off a little. Please, have a seat."

Cassius and Wintergreen both sat down at one of the benches closest to the viewing window, and watched as a small boy with flaming red hair walked onto the mat. After being told to let Kelvin show off, two more instructors from some of the more advanced martial arts courses walked onto the mat and assumed offensive stances.

Kelvin just stood there, face completely devoid of... anything.

One of the Instructors twitched in Kelvin's direction. Thirty seconds later all three of them were on the floor... twenty feet away.

Cassius and Wintergreen were riveted. "He didn't even shift his footing!" Cassius blurted, "he didn't even grunt when he tossed that guy over his head."

"He threw them around like rag dolls," Stevens replied. "That's actually what got our attention in the first place. He picks up martial arts moves after seeing it done just once. More of that eidetic memory for you."

Kelvin's instructor got back up, shook his head clear, then told Kelvin to take his seat again, which he did without question or comment.

Soon, the class ended, and Stevens ordered a "Painting Session" for Kelvin as the other children filed out.

"A painting session is where we fire painted tennis balls at the boy, and have several moving target panels situated about the room. The objective for him is to either deflect every ball shot at him into one of the targets, or capture and throw with the same objective."

"Doesn't seem hard."

"HE does it deaf and blind," Stevens responded as an instructor put a blindfold and earplugs on the boy. "And we make certain that everything in the room changes position in a completely randomized manner, to make certain that he doesn't rely on repetition to work."

When the room was set up, Kelvin knelt down on the ground in the center of the room. The targets started moving, and Kelvins instructor walked up to the viewing room.

"Ready."

Stevens brought out a small twenty sided die and rolled it. "begin in fifteen seconds."

The instructor brought out a small one-button remote and counted to fifteen, then started 'the program.'

One tennis ball fired at Kelvin. Just as it was about to hit, his arm shot out and grabbed the ball in one swift motion, then fired the ball at a moving target, hitting it square in the center. Then he did it again. And again. And again. Until approximately two-hundred balls had been fired.

All of the moving targets situated themselves so that the people in the viewing room could see Kelvin's aim. Apart from a few stray dots from when Kelvin decided to deflect rather than grab-and-toss, those painted tennis balls hit nothing other than dead-center. The instructor walked into the room, took off Kelvin's blindfold and earplugs, then took him from the room to wash up.

Cassius' jaw dropped for the first time ever. Wintergreen simply said "Nope, seeing it twice still surprises me."

"I'd say its pretty definite that he's got 'the gift' that those jedi folks talk about in realspace," Stevens said. "I'd also say he's got more 'gift' than most. Needless to say, we're not equipped to handle this child for the most part. We have no damn clue as to how one handles force-sensitivity."

Cassius brought his jaw back up, then nodded. "We never expected this to be an issue. I'd been told by some that this 'force' is everywhere, but this is the first time we've seen it manifest itself in the Dominion, much less with such... oomph. I'll see what I can do, Stevens. I might be able to get some Jedi High Foreheads to send somebody to teach this kid what's what."

"We'd be very appreciative. After we did some research on his abilities, it seems as though this stuff is almost instinctive for him. Almost everything is instinctive with him. He shows no emotion, no likes or dislikes, he simply does what he does as though he was made to do it. We would very happily take whatever help we can in making sure this child reaches his full potential. That's what these schools are for, after all."

"So they are," Cassius replied. "So they are."

We have a situation.

It has come to our attention that a child appears to have shown a massive aptitude in what you would call 'the force'. The strength of this aptitude, judging from preliminary comparative analyses, is quoted as either 'off the scale or on the edge'. We have no expertise or equipment on how to deal with such a thing, and are therefore asking for assistance from any of our allies in respect to this issue.

We will transport any qualified participants to the school where this boy resides, where such individuals can witness and interpret the boy's strengths firsthand. We are also requesting that a willing participant take this boy under their wing and show him the various applications of this 'force'.

We await further communications, and hopefully a solution.

President Server looked over the messege that his Secretary of State handed him.

"I think we should send Jedi Master Kenobi. As the head of all Jedi here in Corneliu, he would be the most logical one to send."

"Sir, I think we should send Jedi masters Wu San and Windu too. All three would be better than just one. We don't know what this person, kid I think, can do and I would feel better if we have our 3 best Jedi Masters there."

"Agreed. Send the telegram out immediately."

From: President Server

We will be sending out our 3 top Jedi Masters to you. They are our head jedi masters and they'll see what they can do to help you.

Some time later, a giant DawnRunner vessel materialized over the Corneliuan homeworld, minus its support fleet.

A small, nondescript, yet very heavily armored shuttle departed from the Dawnrunner's token landing bay and dropped straight down towards the pre-set landing coordinates.

Leveling of during the descent, it came to a rest with little more than a grunt from the landing gear. A single door opened on the side, and a small fellow with white hair and an extremely bushy moustache issued forth from the small airlock.

"I NEVER get tired of that... whoa sunny."

He shielded his eyes slightly and looked about for his soon-to-be-guests.

The trip towards the DawnRunner was uneventful, as was the vessel's return to Godulan Earth. Wintergreen spent a couple hours expounding upon the wonders and horrors of Protospace travel, even mentioning the volatile M'Lekk'Torr that inhabited the plane.

"We had a few run-ins at first, but we've come to a bit of an understanding with them," he stated. "They're not material in any sense of the word, but made up almost entirely of pure primal instinct. Starting communication was somewhat difficult."

A loudspeaker came on in the small common room, "This is Admiral Kirlan, we're about to make a final probability jump and should complete transit some distance above the Godulan atmosphere. Targeting Solution will be acquired in... twenty minutes."

Wu, Windu, and Kenobi listened very intently.

"Thanks for the lessons. It was very informative. We are also learners and learning about different cultures makes us better so if a time came to be in a particular culture, we know how to act. Is there anything you want to tell us about the kid that we're going to be seeing?"

Wintergreen thought for a moment.

"Well, the kid is a bit of a prodigy, we think. He seems to do the things he does with little to no effort. His mind seems almost... BUILT for it. He can flash memorize almost any picture or sequence, read at a phenomenal pace, and has an impeccable sense of timing.

"Now keep in mind, that's what he can do without using his 'force' powers. One of his caretakers told me that he's snatched bullets out of the air with his bare hands, and I've seen my own self that the boy is tremendously strong.

"The boy also seems to have no emotions to speak of. He does what he's told, without question or comment, he speaks only when spoken to, and he almost always just looks... well... Disinterested. He always looks like he's about to fall asleep, but then he pulls of these feats of speed and strength and you know right then that he's about as harmless as a brick to the face."

Wintergreen took a small swig from a flask he kept in his right pocket, then returned the flask to its place.

"Oh, and we haven't heard him laugh. Ever."

All three Jedi Masters looked at eachother. They were all thinking the samething. This kid is very strong in the Force.

"You did the right thing by notifying us. If this kid ever fell into the wrong hands, then we would be in very serious trouble." Windu stated matter of factly.

"Agreed. We need to keep this kid protected. He may be able to defend himself but even Jedi aren't infallible. We can be deceived but it is harder to deceive us." Wu chimed in. "The empire must not know about this kid."

The trip back down wasn't bumpy at all! Mainly because the transporter bay wasn't very far from the shuttle bay, and it prevented needless grandstanding.

"Limosines, Showing off, I suspect y'all aren't into that kinda schtick."

They poofed back into existence right on the Progress School grounds. Several groups of children no older than twelve were performing jujitsu routines at various speeds.

Entering the school itself, Wintergreen introduced them to Stevens, the administrator of the school.

"Ah, so you must be the people to see the boy. He's in the library at the moment." He chuckled for a moment. "Archon Wintergreen, any chance we could get an expanded library? He's running out."

"I can likely shunt a bit of college textbook funding towards this place. Questions will be asked, but Cassius will shut the others up. Can we see him?"

"Oh, sure! He's actually been expecting you." He looked at the group in front of him. "Its strange, he actually set four chairs around his table before I told him you all were coming."

"As I told Wintergreen," Stevens added, "he only speaks when spoken to, despite our best efforts to get him to be more open. He'll answer any questions you have easily enough, but he just doesn't like talking when he doesn't absolutely need to."

Kelvin turned pages in his book, then, realizing that he'd come to the end, slapped the book closed and shuffled it to the side, then faced the jedi opposite him and waited, eyes strangely glazed over.

The book then burst open in a flurry of whizzing pages, moving back and forth in the book until Kelvin settled upon a picture of a dancing cowboy.

For a second after this, nothing happened. Then, with nothing more than a twitch of Kelvin's eyebrow, the cowboy leapt out of the pages and started dancing his little jig.

"Hello my baby hello my darlin' hello my ragtime gaaaaal..."

"I wish to be able to understand these powers. With understanding comes control. With control comes... well... wisdom."

Kelvin looked at Stevens for a moment, then continued.

"I want to give something back, but neither do I want to be thought of as a crutch."

Wintergreen elbowed Stevens in the rib. "Tenth grade reading level my ASS!"

Kenobi laughed at Wintergreen. "I think he's off the charts in reading level as well as in his powers." He turns back to Kelvin. "Your right, wisdom and understanding are the two main factors in what we do. We shall teach you to control these powers and to put them to good use."

Wintergreen snapped closed his small cellcomm after a few seconds, then placed it back in his pocket with a slight sigh.

"Oh, we wouldn't dare interfere with the training, though we'll be very pleased to have an observer along so we can learn the training routines ourselves. Even if we can't duplicate every aspect of the training due to our decided lack of people capable of making books float in the air, it would behoove us to at least learn the ins and outs of the process."

Stevens piped up from his seat in the back. "When do you intend to leave, pray tell? I only ask because Kelvin here has... well, I suppose the best way to put it is that he's been ready since he arrived here. No personal items in his room whatsoever, and he's kept it as clean as the day he showed up on our doorstep..." he paused for a moment and thought about what he'd just said, then turned to Kelvin. "Sunnuva... he knew from the beginning!"

Kelvin shrugged.

Wintergreen nodded. "Whichever whenever. I'll go make the preparations for your trip back. You'll be back on Corneliuan Prime before the day is out."

He brought out his CellComm and began speaking into it.

"StarNaval command? Yeah, need an escort group for our three distinguished friends, plus one kid and a few observers. A DawnRunner fleet should do. What's that? War? What war? When the hell did THAT break out? We've got plenty DawnRunner fleets, one shouldn't be too much of a stretch! Look, if Corbox has a problem with it he can damn well take it up with me! What's that? Oh hi Corbox! So how many DawnRunners are you using? TWO? And you don't like me just taking one? Look, if shit goes down real bad, you can call them back. Until then we're just sending the one fleet to escort our prestigious friends from Corneliu back home with a child that YOU should pay more attention to, and they're just gonna be observing stuff after!... Oh don't sulk you whiner. Keep in mind I've worked with you for TOO damn long... oh... that's cold... that's cold... see if you get any vacation time for the next sixty years, mister NOT AN ARCHON. Yeah I thought that would get your attention. I don't want to hear it! I just want a damn DawnRunner fleet! THANK YOU! BYE NOW!"

Wintergreen slapped his CellComm closed and then jammed it back into his pocket. Offering an embarassed grin to the three guests, "Like I said, you'll be home before the day is out. Yeesh, that guy is hard to work with when he hasn't had his morning coffee."

And Wintergreen lived up to his word. The landing shuttle touched down at the drop coordinates on Corneliuan Prime just as the internal chronometers hit 11:58 PM. Letting off the three Jedi Masters, their new charge, and a trio of Godulan observers who even now were taking notes with ferocious abandon.

Kenobi looked at Windu. "You better tell Admiral Server about this. He needs to be notified so that we can prepare."

"Right."

As Windu walked off, Kenobi turned back towards Kelvin. "Ok young padawan. Let us go inside and I will give you a tour of the facility."

With that he led them all into the main hall of the Jedi Temple. "This is our lobby. People come here to see the facilities and we do give tours of our complex but they don't get to see all of it. You will see a good portion of it because you'll be living here. The stuff you'll see on this tour will be the training rooms, the library, the Jedi archives, and your quarters. Before we proceed to the main training room, do you have any questions?"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Meanwhile, Master Windu got in to see Admiral James Server and explained what Kelvin told them.

"So you see sir, we do not know the precise threat but from what Kelvin was telling us, he could be a threat.

"Well there isn't much that I can do."

"We figured as such but we felt it prudent to tell you since you are the head of the military after all."

"And you were right to bring this to my attention. I'll talk to my staff and see what we can do if anything."

"Very well sir. Thank you."

He led them down the main corridor and stopped at the library's main entrance. "While here, you can look around and look at books and check them out if necessary. Of to the right of this, is the bookstore where you can purchase books too on just about any subject." He then entered the library. "Go ahead and look around Kelvin. Then, looking around at the enormous number of tomes present in the library that he could see, a single book lanced out from a far away shelf, nearly clunking a passing girl on the head as it bolted past, but merely ruffling her hair and eliciting a startled squeak.

He gave the girl something close to a sheepish grin as he snatched the book out of the air and laid it down on a nearby table. He settled down to begin reading, then looked at the book quizzically.

"Chiss Military Tactics and Philosophy? Why would I want to read this book?" He opened it and began reading in his own unnaturally swift manner.

OOC: WHAT?! Why didn't I see this?! *grumbles about the lax intelligence.*

IC:
I was buried, literally buried under a stack of paperwork in my auxiliary office on Yavin IV (faxed in from Wayland). Even with my skills in the Force, it was a lot to do, but with a liberal dose of Force Speed and telekinesis, I managed to get the paper down to slightly more manageable levels. One piece of paper, stamped a couple of days ago, intruged me.

I checked the nation it came from: Godular. Interesting, for as far as I knew, no Jedi has ever come from Godular. I decided to take action and send back a message, while simentaneously firing off a message to the Council.

Hello, this is the Jedi Academy on Yavin IV. We have recieved your message, and if another academy or temple hasn't taken the child in yet, we would like to test the boy, and if sufficient, will begin training him in the ways of the Force should he choose to accept. We await your message as soon as possible. Thank you.

"So... it is all about 'the art'," Kelvin said as he zoomed through several more pages, "strikes me as a Tai-Chi approach to large scale combat. How novel."

He looked back to Kenobi. "I must apologize, I let my... head... do the thinking on which of these books I would want to look at first, and it 'selected' a book that just happened to be on the opposite side of the chamber. The book came to me, but it ruffled her hair on the way over. I know it would have veered off if she were in any real danger of getting struck by a book traveling at seventy kilometers an hour, but it still startled her."

He bookmarked his place in the present book and held it up. "Can I take this book to read in my... um... room? This really IS an interesting read. Who is this 'Thrawn' person?"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Meanwhilst, back on Godulan Earth, Cassius was filtering through several pages of dispatches carried over from Merchant Vessels and Couriers. Cargo Inventories, Trade Manifests, Abridged News Stories, Message From Jedi Academy on Yavin IV, Several Pages of Political Cartoons, The Latest Physical Science Journals... waitaminute...

Cassius blinked for a moment, noting that he'd missed something. He flipped back until he got to the message from Yavin IV.

"Daniel Masaki? Ain't he working for the Empire... at the moment?" he read through the message for a minute or two, then re-read it, then read it once again for no apparent reason. "Eh, well, in any case, I at least have an excuse..."

He brought out a small piece of fine paper that smelt oddly of blueberry muffins... "GEH! So THAT'S where I put them!"... and wrote down a small reply:

To The Jedi Academy On Yavin IV:

Unfortunately, the child has already been tested and taken to another academy. It may please or disconcert you to know that Jedi Master Kenobi thought that he was something of a Paragon. I'm told the 'Poltergeist Frenzy/Dancing Cowboy' is what did it. I did not witness the incident myself, but I understand it was quite spectacular.

Apologies for not being able to send with better news, however, if you wish to view the child's progress, you have merely to travel to Corneliuan Prime.

Kenobi looked at Kelvin. "Sure you can take that back to your room. If you like, we can go there next or would you like to see some of our training rooms as well as the Jedi Archives?"

Up in space traffic control, the people were moving about with a sense of urgency. This is the most busiest spaceport in the country and the slightest misstep could spell disaster. Another thing hampering them is that a state of emergency is in effect and therefor, the planetary defenses are online causing certain spacelanes to be restricted to only military/jedi use. This is causing a backlog of traffic for the other lanes.

"I also look forward to the training rooms. I am not certain how well I would do, as the martial arts teachers back on Godulan Earth said that I had mastered all the techniques better than they could. I am still not quite sure I believe them, so I suppose you could say this place would be a 'second opinion'."

He picked up his book and walked over to Kenobi.

"My room can wait. The only time I used my room in the progress school was when I needed to sleep, anyway."

Up on the Flagship of the DawnRunner fleet keeping watch overhead, Lemann Krenzler finished off his latest cup of pepper coffee spiced with asprin.

"Sir! Response from Government!"

Lemann looked as though the comms adjutant had just blown an airhorn in his ear. "Ow... Remind me to kill you when this headache calms down."

"Sorry sir. We got a response from the government. Says they're working on Liberating CoreWorlds from Imperial control. They're at war."

The sound of a shattering coffee mug resounded through the chamber. Lemann sat on his command console, completely motionless. Then, without warning, he rocketed to his feet and shrieked "PRAISE THE ARCHONS, I'M A-CURED!"

The comms adjutant broke the startled silence first, "Reply, sir?"

"Ask if they need us. We've got two DawnRunner fleets in PrimeSpace as it is, and can have up to ten more in short order, and any way ya slice that, somebody's gonna get their ass kicked."

The Archive left Kelvin feeling somewhat cheated, as he was not allowed to access everything he would have liked, however, he felt that the library more than made up for that slight.

The Training rooms surprised him, however. He found himself analyzing the various trainees as they sparred about in the expansive chamber, and within several seconds had discerned strengths and weaknesses in every single trainee's techniques. Seeing so many of them bouncing about and whirling and kicking and punching and swinging things held his attention almost as much as the library did.

"I see many of the styles I learned back in the Progress School... but there are some I can't recognize. Are some of these unarmed styles jedi-originated?"

"It's actually taking bits from all over the galaxy." I said, walking up to the boy, Kelvin, is it? "But most of the martial arts you'll see is derived from a form called Teras Kasi, which is similar to, uh, Kung Fu or Karate in some respects."

"Now as for the lightsaber styles, there are seven. I (1) is the basics style, going back to the early days when Jedi used metal swords. We still use it for every beginner.
II (2) is basically fencing, and an expert user could break through the defenses of most Jedi.
III (3) is what most Jedi study, due to it's emphasis on defense. It's optimized for blocking blaster bolts, so a III user would have trouble with a II user.
IV (4) is a style that aguments the Force in your movements, giving you a greater ability to quickly dodge with your body, as well as parry blows. It's also considered the fastest style. The greatest master of all, Master Yoda, was a Form IV user.
V (5) takes Form III and turns it into what is known as the "peace through superior firepower" form. It not only allows you to turn blaster bolts upon the enemy, it also gives the user a lot of offensive options in a duel.
VI (6) is called the "Diplomat's" form, and it takes I, III, and IV, in equal styles. It's mostly used for Jedi who aren't as good with lightsabers as others, but many Jedi nowadays don't use it, because it doesn't help you defend much.
Now, Form VII (7) is considered the hardest to master, and few have ever done so. Master Windu is one of them. It's basic philosophy is "maximum efficiency through minimum effort". And it's also the form that skirts closest to the Dark Side, so use it with caution."

I awaited the signal, getting into a classic Form II stance. Sword-arm side of the body turned towards the opponent, in my case it's right. It looks like it gives my opponent a wide opening, but in reality, it's an illusion, giving the opponent a smaller profile for which he will have to attack.

He's good. "Very good question. And it's a question each and every one of you should ask."

I moved to the center of the circle of students, making sure that no one is in my arc. Then, I ignited my sapphire-blue blade, listening to it's familiar humming sound.

"The Lightsaber is said to be an elegant weapon, for a more civilized age. Not as random or clumsy as blasters, but a weapon that requires a cut above the rest to use. It is a symbol of our dedication to preserving, protecting and defending life. When a person thinks of a Jedi, the first thing they usually think of is the lightsaber, because it is not only a formidable weapon, but it is the light that shines a path that the Dark Side covers with evil. After some precision and effort with a small section of his mind, a small spark popped and fizzled in his hand. He grinned happily. "Yes, I definitely understand now."

His eyes went dull with concentration, as he worked out the final steps of the process, then pointed his hand forward.

A shaft of prismatic light some four feet long erupted from the palm of his hand, splaying blues and reds throughout its being as Kelvin refined his creation down to something resembling a needle of eldritch light. Letting it grow to the size of a typical lightsaber blade, he grinned happily at his accomplishment, and worked his hand so that it grasped the base of the blade as if it had a handle.

He tapped the blade forward a couple times, testing the noises it made, and somewhat mezmerized by the undulating colors swirling about in the blade.

Then he began to push himself somewhat further. Shortening the blade and adding strength to the top created an axe shape, adding further strength to the top and extending the blade below his hand created something of a makeshift scythe, and after a couple seconds of concentration, a trident came into being.

Grinning madly with glee, he dispelled the blade and looked at Master Windu.

"I do not believe I will need a lightsaber, Master Windu."

"A plan of action? I would not presume to know everything, as I have only just begun reading this particular text. However, one of my instructors at the Progress School always told me that the key to winning battles was to keep the enemy reacting, force the enemy to respond to your moves. Keeping them guessing keeps them from advancing.

"In this case, with a nation wholly subsumed by the enemy who has long believed himself superior, it would likely do good to... eat them from within? The Godulan Information Network has plenty of information about Imperial Members, and I understand that one of the more powerful members happens to be an adept of Chaos and the Warp... Chronosia, if I remember right. Suicide bombings in critical spots attributed to... oh, say, fanatical followers of Chaos hoping to supplant the ruling parties in the galactic senate, would be a scenario entirely too plausible in any situation. After all, Chronosia might very well harbor those desires, and how can they keep track of every single little acolyte they have floating around?

"I suppose, in short, that what I am saying is punch the Sith in the face in such a manner that he thinks somebody else did it, wait until they have beaten each other to a pulp, and then point a gun at both their heads."

"What young Tom here doesn't realize is is a famous quote made by someone whom is most likely anonymous: 'Sometimes, to defeat your enemy, you must become your enemy'. Now, my interpretation of that -and also how I work- is that as we have been defeated in open battle and surrender, those of us who are granted asylum find other ways to fight against it. My mother turned back to politics to keep an eye on fellow Senators and the workings of the Empire. My sister works with her as an 'aide' of sorts. That's just one way of fighting back."

"My grandfather and I lead the Black Order, an organization that's supposed to be dedicated to intelligence and special ops for the Empire. However, it often works to our advantage to use it against the Empire, giving warning to Jedi hunted down or something like that."

I grinned. "While I frown on things as extreme as suicide bombings, I see how useful turning factions of the Empire against each other will be. While I have yet to do something like that, I'll keep that in mind. I think what could be great, is that once you complete your training here, I can offer you a spot within the Order, as an advisor on strategy. I'm great in tactics, but in long-term strategy, I'm kinda weak."

"I would not be able to give you a direct answer on that possibility at the moment. I feel more inclined to be somewhat independent... just wandering around and learning, more than anything else. Perhaps the training will temper that somewhat, I cannot be sure."

Then his eyes took a more serious turn...

"I would give you a friendly warning, however, that I am not the only one you have to worry about. My brother Obsidian is here, in this galaxy, somewhere. I have already told the masters here, but whoever meets him first will likely be... first to die. I would not wish him upon anybody. He is not darkness, but... something more exotic. "Oh, just make a half-hearted swipe on a tactically annoying place somewhat distant from the intended target. Get some friends in on it to lend it some oomph, then, when the imperials decide that 'hey, they are attacking us!' and send a big honking force to knock you out, you send in a secondary force to your intended target and blow up whatever needs blowing up, get your first group the hell out of dodge, and reinforce your positions for when Binky the Imperial notices that one of his holdings just went splat."
Godular
28-01-2005, 21:26
"Of course, it is really nothing more than a simple feint. The key is, however, to make it a feint that they cannot ignore. Attack a shipyard, attack two even! That would lend even more credence to them thinking 'Oh hell, this is the big one!' Leave the imperials a few tactical nukes or uber mega death bombs along their approach vector as a final screw-you present, then let them have it... where YOU want them to have it.

"However, being that it has JUST NOW BEEN REVEALED TO ME that an attack has already been instigated, it is impossible for me to know the exact present tactical situation."

"I feel it necessary to be somewhat brutally honest about my disposition at the present time," He gave Sheridan a smile that said something between 'I ate a crowbar before I came here, and it was yummay!' and 'I want to hurt something, somewhere, soon...'

"I am pissed. We have been building up our forces, day after day, week after week, month after month, and by the archons, year after year after year after year. We're in the beginning stages of building a ship that will rival an Eclipse class Super Star Destroyer in size, and crush it in firepower. We've designed weapons and shields that turn the enemy's own superweapons against them. We've devised strategies, attack and escape routes, incursion points, and even close-in-battle tactics specifically made to counter all known vessels thrown at us by the imperials, and even methods to counter their damn DEATH STAR."

He somehow managed to maintain his disconcerting grin.

"So imagine my surprise when, on the very first day when we bring our first and only known force-sensitive child for training, he gets whisked off to some distant battlefield, and all effort is exercised to prevent us from accompanying him as WE were ordered. Despite the fact that we could very easily leave the enemy in tatters, and oddly enough despite the fact that we would be very pleased to do so. So, when I am sent a message that you people will tell me exactly why it is that you have no intention of letting us rip the imperials to shreds as is our wont, please do not be offended when I say that it is the. one. and. only. reason. I. am. here."

Still grinning his 'I counted how many ways I could kill a man with my thumb, and I just came up with two more!' grin, he gave a peremptory once-over of his insertion point.

"And its an honor to be here too. As you can tell, we servitors of the Defense Directorate don't focus too much on diplomatic niceties. Perhaps if a memo had been sent before this point were reached we would all be in a better mood.

"Also, before we continue, would you be so kind as to fetch me some painkillers? I had a migraine this morning, and today has only served to make it worse by several orders of magnitude. Its subtle, I know. I'm normally SUCH a ray of sun-shine."

Krenzler's smile had vanished, evidently replaced by exhaustion after having used the poor Secretary as a target for the massive amounts of pent up frustration and verbal bombardment. His seven foot bulk sagged slightly as the anger leaked out of him for the most part. "Damn headache..."

Already he was calculating how long it would take to get the number of DawnRunners they would need up and ready. Conservative estimates put the Godulan Strike Force at about 13 Total DawnRunner Fleets by the end of the day, upping the figure to 15 or even 17 if word reached Godulan Earth quickly enough.

He hung up the phone and turned back to his guests.

"Sorry about that. Now what I was going to tell you. The reason why you were kept in the dark for so long was that the operation in progress is a family affair. The leader of CoreWorlds is a relative of mine and we wanted to launch the attack in secret.

"Your prodoje had some interesting ideas and we were sending him with my grandson and the relative I just got off the phone with to help in this regard. I was going to tell you this anyway. There was no need for threats. You are more than happy to send in ships to assist in the liberation! However, you will fight in accordance with the rules of war. Is that ok?"

"Rest assured, not once were we threatening you. I was sending word to the other DawnRunner fleets in PrimeLine to prepare to move out, and that was the only thing we did that might be construed as a threat. However, as stated previously, I am under orders to keep my eye on that child no matter what he does or where he goes. We stick to him like a lamprey.

"We also intend to send out couriers to get additional fleets from Godulan Earth mobilized for the coming conflict. May I ask, however, what these 'rules' are? Stop shooting if the white flag is raised? Simple Geneva Convention Rules? Or is there some form of etiquette to adhere to?"

"Dont bomb churches, hospitols, schools unless the enemy is firing at you. Honor the white flag! Yea simple Geneva Convention Rules. As for the kid, you can have someone tag along. I'll make sure he is beamed aboard the shuttle."

"Oh... we'll likely be leaving that to you in favor of defending against enemy reinforcements from out of system. We don't proscribe much to the 'win their hearts in minds' tack when it comes to that sort of thing. More like a 'Scare the crap out of them and apologize for being so heavy handed after they surrender' plan. Not exactly a PR booster when trying to Liberate people.

"But then, you'll have Kelvin on your side, and we heard what he said about tactics against the Imperials. Had to say I was impressed."

OOC: Oh, I made something of another thread a few days back. It might help to notify allies of threads I want to draw their attention to, wouldn't it?

"And you shall have it. Even now Godulan Earth has been notified of the happenings. I cannot guarantee numbers, but I suspect them imperials are in for a NASTY surprise if they try pushing the issue."

After Krenzler spoke, a contemplative expression bubbled up onto his face, followed by a wry grin.

"By the ARCHONS... I hope they push the issue."

"Alliances... wonderful things, those. You shall find that we are very loyal to those we consider our friends. And very... decisive... against those we consider our enemies."

He took a couple steps away from President Server and tapped a spot behind his ear.

"If you'll permit me, your honor, I wish to return to my fleet and commence preparations. If the fight is going on even now, there is not a moment to be lost with idle banter. The faster we can get our guns into the fight, the faster the enemy will crack. Oh... and much though it seems... goofy... we won't be able to join the party if we don't know where the house is at, if you know what I mean. Where the hell is the attack at?"

"We thank you. I was also expecting your question."

He opens up his desk drawer and pulls out the latest information.

"Can't say that the fighting here won't be over before you arrive but our forces are their now fighting. I"m sure someone will tell where the fighting has moved on too if its over by the time you arrive."

Krenzler studied the information, then handed the documentation back to Server. "Understood. Send a message to the vessel carrying Kelvin and company. They may go with our blessing. We'll be along."

Krenzler tapped the spot behind his ear again, much harder this time. Almost immediately, he vanished in a haze of sparkling motes.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Back up on the DawnRunner, Krenzler returned to his command chamber and settled back down into his chair.

"Any word from Godulan Earth?"

"They've got five DawnRunner fleets on standby, awaiting confirmation of orders. The other two Primeline DawnRunners are prepped and ready."

"Only five auxiliaries?"

"They said that the bulk of logistics are going to the ACS's construction. They can have another five ready on a couple days' notice, ten if they rush, but until then, we're stuck with eight total, including the current Primeline Fleets."

"A challenge, then! Inform high command, all vessels are to rendezvous at Thorn, at which point we will commence calculations for a unified Probability Jump. Time to kill some Imperials."

When Thomas got the messege, he whooped. "I knew he would do it. Cousin Masaki, we're cleared. Let us get going!"

I increased throttle, punching in the calculations to our destination. Then, I pulled back the lever, and the stars streaked out as I entered the wormhole to hyperspace.

IC:
Admiral Tasak had just recieved the news about this child. "Open up a com-link with our allies."

The Bridge mate replied with a "Yes, sir!"

-OPENING LINK TO: GODULAR-
Hello my allies, you will have to forgive me. I am a little late, but this would be expected since we are so far away. I have heard about the Child, and luckily for you, Klington Specializes in Artifical enhancements. We can add numerous new senses to the child, enhance the already present senses by 10 fold. Add new bio-engineered organs and much more. If you give us the child for two months, I promise the results will be amazing.

Also, Klington has just initiated the "Grave Mind" Project. In this project we build Super Computers. Much faster than the human mind. Then we use our BattleNET system to connect the troops to the Grave Mind which then helps them though battle suggestions and happenings and courses of logic. And overall helps to increase the flow of thought. So far our entire army is connected to Five Grave Minds. And 3(one for each person or droid) were built for the special purpose of our "Super Soldiers"(Another project in which Klington bio-engineered 2 soldiers and used alot of its knowledge to make them "perfect.") We can also build a 4th Grave mind, just for Kelvin. It will not make Kelvin a 100 times better, because he is very special, but at least it will make him 2 times better, which I daresay is quite powerful.

In Addition, if you wish, we will assign the boy with our other 2 Super-Soldiers, Narthaus, and Lauren and their Superior droid, HK-47(Kelvin will still be a Godular officer, and will be under your command). If the 4 Greatest Soldiers come together and use their skills in augmentation, then they will be invincible and nothing will get in their way.

But it is up to you, what do you say?
-END TRANSMISSION-

OOC: Our 4 Super Soldiers wouldnt be under my command, they would be like a joint force. I highly recommend this as well. For if they are together they will be unstoppable.

IC:

The Thorn System picked up the Transmission out of Klington, and relayed it on to Godulan Earth.

Cassius read the dispatch to himself after receiving it, then immediately sent a response to be relayed out of Thorn and back into Klington.

Unfortunately, Kelvin is currently indisposed, and Corneliu has taken him under their wing in the hopes that he shall make for an excellent jedi knight. I'm given to understand it was the Poltergeist/Cowboy incident that cemented the decision.

If you would like to see the child for yourself, I am afraid that I do not quite know his whereabouts, though you have but to ask President Server if you wish to inquire further.

Respectfully,
Klington
