National Emergency (Somewhat a Semi-Open RP)

OOC: Well, got bored, and decided to start a new RP, if anyone's interested. However, since I will continue the RP, I'd rather to have friendly nations to only make statements now, since I do not want nations sending their fleets with aircraft carriers and SSBNs for the job of hunting this submarine, and the storyline of the RP will go according to my plan for now. Thanks for your understanding. /OOC

30nm From Number Three-Five Submarine Pen, Near Hogan Point

The massive GK-22 cruised deep underwater, as part of a regular patrol cruise around the Omzian coastline, this time not much distances away from Hogan Point, one of the largest cities within Omzian Nation. Like all other submarines within the Omzian Navy, it does not have a formal name, and the only identification that it will forever bears is the symbolic GK-22. Called and classified as a Nena class guided missile submarine, the GK-22 is heavily based on an imported design known as the Neptune, and its size is only some steps away from a massive underwater battleship. Bearing a total of one hundred and fifty four missile cells, it is a dangerous foe that can unleash a hailstorm of massive firepower. With all cells loaded with the new Omzian LRALCM-A cruise missiles, it sat underwater as the massive hulk traveled at a speed of fifteen knots. For now, GK-22 is still a shadowy name known primarily only by those of the Omzian submarine service and the naval headquarters, but within a short moment, it is hopeful that this vessel will be one of the most "famous" vessels within the Omzian Navy. Or will it be only a figment of imagination?

The commander of the GK-22, Captain Yurkan, looked at his men, smiling as he proudly displayed the Order of Ukan ribbon on his chest. A participant of the Battle of Hagras Bay, he was a mere Ensign aboard a Dolphin II submarine, before he transferred to the guided missile submarine service. So young but experienced, he thought, as his face already showed him as a middle-aged man, despite being one of the youngest submarine Captains within the Navy. Being one of those who entered the service directly from the Naval Underseas Warfare Academy, he still had his own conflicts with enlisted men, but he still admired how his own men are working so hard, and are so loyal both to his country and himself. There weren't much problems since they set sail some days ago, and that's both good and bad news for the Captain. The only thing bothering him is the Executive Officer onboard, Commander Horan.

He know Commander Horan well, as a man that had also from graduated from the same academy as him - in the same year. But even though the Commander was one of the major players in the academy's baseball team, they weren't in the same classes, and the Captain finally met him after the Battle of Hagras. Since then, these two men shared a healthy friendship. But there's something that kept bothering the Captain. The father of the Commander was one of the two ultra-radical Air Force Generals who had set up the coup against the government in 1989 - which turned out not so well, but at least guarenteed the Commander's father a position in the temporatory military government before they finally gave up and agreed to share the power with the civilian government. Even though the General still retired and lived peacefully within his home, it was not long until the local police charged his father with theft. This time, it involved CompuShop, one of the largest store chains within the Omzian nation.

"Theft of what?!", the Captain remembered the Commander once saying. The Commander has a deep relationship with his father, but ever since the incident, the Commander has been left under a state of distraught. It is a sheer outrage to even think that a big old, four-star general has been imprisoned for a petty crime such as theft, and it is a far cry from outrage to be reminded how his father was fined $2000 and sentenced to two months in prison. He knew well that it is his father's mistake, but he began to constantly blame the law enforcement agencies - and in many times, the government - for this thing to happen. No four-stars has ever been charged with a crime in the history of the Omzian military. It was a great shame for the whole family of the Commander. Even if it happened a year ago, it still traumatized the Commander, and had put him in shame. But this time, he wanted revenge. Redemption. Payback. The Commander's ruthless tendencies is a fame ever since that incident.

"This is the commander. Change course to bearing zero-three-two, at depth of forty-five meters. Reduce speed to five knots," the Captain ordered his crew as he checked his watch. Exactly on time. The crews however, being so disciplined, uniformly agreed. "Aye, aye -" - it was not long before their speech were cut by a shock that had rampaged the whole control room. "No," the familiar voice of the executive officer spoke, but this time in absolute defiance. He was holding a gun, a standard issue O18 assault rifle with a fully loaded thirty-five round magazine.

"Commander Horan, comrade, what in the world are you doing?!", the Captain immediately exclaimed as he entered a state of shock and fear. The Commander is holding a gun, he thought as his brain activity skyrocketed, still trying not to believe the fact presented in front of him.

Afer a short pause, Commander Horan finally spoke. "I want you to get the submarine off the city of Northern Prospect, where we can bombard Osaria," he ordered coldly, completely ignoring the friendship that he shares with the Captain, now pointing the end of the barrel of the rifle at the Captain not a meter away.

Osaria. Northern Prospect. Bombard. The words ran through the Captain's mind. It is a myriad of thoughts, yet the Captain is still in a state of total shock. A lower ranked officer, and a close friend, is ordering him to bombard his own city. "Now!", the Commander roared...

...Before three men stormed into the room, with three new rifles, still reflecting the red light off the ceiling. The Captain recongized one as Seaman Horae, one of the newest crews on the vessel. The other two faces also appeared very young, but it made no sense at all to him. Influx of thoughts ran into the Captain's brain. He simply cannot obey. The Commander is becoming a traitor, and he must be stopped before this esculates. But he didn't know how.

"Commander Horan, explain yourself!", he ordered as he looked into the eyes of the Commander. But it was mere seconds away, and something happened...

...gunshots.

With the Captain now on the floor, his blood dripping all over the floor near the plotting board, the three seamen - with blind eyes and thoughts - faithfully followed the Commander like robots as the Commander ordered the entire crew - now taken as hostages. "Get me to Osaria, now! Change your course to 356, we are going in!"

"But sir, how are you going to let the outside world know of your intentions?", one of the young seamen, only 21 years old, asked.

"You'll see," he smiled. With a total of one hundred and fifty four cruise missiles under his fingertips, it is time for Redemption. A traitor is always a traitor, he thought. But he is also calling for total revenge against the government - for what their civilian police force did to his father.

The media will know. And shortly after that, the whole world will know.

Tonobran Satellite News

A young reporter, in his early thirties, stared at the screen as three words of "Live" and "Breaking News" flashed on his screen. There were no time to prepare, but to speak.

"Just a short moment ago, the Omzian government has announced that a cruise missile-armed submarine has gone missing from its intended patrol route at the west of the Omzian nation. The submarine has left for a regular patrol from an unnamed naval base, enroute to a standard patrol off the coast of the Omzian nation. There were one hundred and fifty four fully-armed cruise missiles, known as LRALCMs or Long Range Submarine-Launched Cruise Missiles, designed by the aeronautical company OMASC, on board.

Current details are sketchy, but it is believed that a renegade commander of the submarine has been plotting a terrorist attack against major cities within the Omzian Nation, specifically capital city Osaria and economical center Kanze. The Navy has obtained a written note from an unnamed Commander that explains his current terrorist plot, and it is expected that the note will not be released to the public for the time being. However, the government is expected to make an official statement soon, and it is also expected that several steps are to be taken by the Omzian National Guards to ensure the security of the Omzian military, government, and civilians.

This is Mark Sullivan-Kanze of Tonobran News."

Currently details are still sketchy, but it has been reported that renegade

From: Abdullah Sharif, Head of State, The Arab Republic of Al Sabir

Mr. Vansare,

I'd like to voice my deep concerns regarding the situation developing within your maritime boundaries. I do not doubt the fact that the renegade commanding this rogue submarine has no respect for human life whatsoever, so tremendous damage its full arsenal could cause to an unprotected, civilian, urban area is beyond my imagination. Therefore, to honour the bonds that tie the Omzian Republic and Al Sabir, I will do everything in my power to assist you in your time of need and to prevent the obliteration of the Omzian capital if required. Of course, I have full confidence the capability of the Omzian Homeland Defense Force to resolve this crisis. However, a pair of Tucuxi SSN will be kept on standby as long as necessary and will be ready to deploy to Omzian waters to intercept this mutineer. Also, a squadron of MB-1K "Megafortress II" heavy bombers, modified for the employment of Lancelot anti-ballistic missiles, could be in the air six short hours after notice, to be dispatched to Omzian airfields, to reinforce the layers of Omzian missile defenses near your capital, should the need arise.

If you have any further inqueries, I'm just a phonecall away.

Good Luck,

Abdullah Sharif

OOC: For anyopne who is interested, here (http://members.lycos.co.uk/omz123/Omzmapreduced.jpg) is the map of my nation done sometimes ago. Yes, the range of the cruise missile is sufficent enough for the sub to fire at Osaria directly from Hogan Point, but obviously it wouldn't be fun if I did that ;) /OOC

Top Secret

To: Head of State Abdullah Sharif, The Arab Republic of Al-Sabir
CC: Ministry of National Defense,
Omzian Navy Headquarters at Port Hagras, COMSUBOP
Omzian Navy Headquarters at Hogan Point, COMWESTFLT

From: Lorae Vansare, Honourable President of the Omzian Democratic Republic

Our Greetings to Mr. Abdullah Sharif,

As a nation deep in crisis with the recent event, we are glad and heart-warmed to hear our ally's attention regarding this matter, and the willingness to assist in protecting the well-being of the Omzian government and the Omzian people. As we are in a state of emergency, the first priority for us is to stop this threat as soon as possible, with the necessary assets available to us. Even though they are still our own assets, the submarine and the new conventionally-armed cruise missile does pose a serious threat to ourselves.

However, it is also our intention to voice our concern, as even though we appreciate any possible help, we are in a stage of still reviewing the whole incident. As we review the forces that Al-Sabir is willing to offer us, while we find the force sufficent, we are still not willing to allow large-scale outside intervention, at this time. Furthermore, as the image of the current situation is still blurry, perhaps contributing submarines as possible ASW forces would simply complicate the situation for surface-based ASW assets.

Therefore, it is our recommendation to our ally Al-Sabir to temporatorily hold onto the forces being offered, as while we appreciate them, we still have much to find out and review before we allow such underseas deployments. While we do appreciate the help, right now it is deemed that our air defense forces is capable of defending the nation from both cruise missile and possibly even torpedo attacks.

Signed,

Lorae Vansare
Honourable President of the Omzian Democratic Republic

Meeting Center, Fifth Air Defense Group, Osaria Air Defense Artillery Command

The massive building is not just another meeting center for the well-organzied Osaria Air Defense Artillery Command. Closely guarded, it is located just below the hill known as "Hill Three", outside the capital city of Osaria. Hill Three, previously housing an air defense bunker, is now simply a radar installation, featuring both the standard air search and GCI radars, in addition to the "air balloon" systems used for cruise missile defense.

It is an ironic situation. Even though they had trained themselves to deal with literally thousands of types of targets - anything from ballistic missiles to cruise missiles to B-2 stealth bombers commonly seen around the world - their own Navy posed a threat. Or for the matter, an aging submarine mated with one of the newest cruise missiles entering the arsenal of all three Omzian armed forces services. They thought that perhaps it will be the first time they ever fought as a whole - but against who? There are no enemy to fight right now, but they still has to fight. And this time, the target is possibly one of their own missiles, designed by their own engineers, and manufactured by their own people. To some, it is absolute absurdity, but to others, it is one of their duties. To defend the city of Osaria at all costs. Wearing the prestigious "OSARIA AIR DEFENSE ARTILLERY COMMAND" badge, they were one of the most well-trained and disciplined air defense crews within the Omzian Army. Composed of the active and reserve units with newer missiles, and the older units with units like the SA-2 and the SA-10, it didn't matter what technology they have. From the Militia with their "30 seconds SA-2 missile reloading capability" to the active units with their "guarenteed F-117 shootdown capability", it didn't matter what type of missile they fire or what kind of assault rifle they use, what's more important is to prevent ultimate failure.

For the commander of the unit, Colonel Vansara, things were getting both serious and busy. So much things has changed over a night of sleep within the Officer's Residence, and now he has to train himself again to stay awake for at least one entire day. One entire day, he thought. It is simply absurd. Whatever idiot decided to do this against their own people, I will personally slash him with a bayonet once I see him, his mind boggled as he continued to received reports from the Armed Forces Television Network, something that is known only by thos who had served in the military. Something has caught his eye on the TV.

"The Omzian Navy has announced in a meeting today that the renegade submarine, armed with a total of one hundred and fifty four LRALCM-A cruise missiles, is confirmed as travelling towards Osaria to fire cruise missiles at unspecified civilian and government targets within both Osaria and Kanze," the announcer described, with a rank of Sergeant Major displayed on his shoulder. "It has been reported within the Omzian Navy that the Navy is preparing for the deployment of several submarine hunting assets, including a total of three Revenge anti-submarine destroyers, six Cougar frigates, seven Sea Snake corvettes, and an unspecified number of P-12 maritime patrol aircraft around the area where the submarine went missing from its intended patrol track. It is hopeful that while the renegade submarine is on its journey to commit the despictable act of bombarding the capital, it will not go far beyond the maritime exclusion zone, as it would be detected by Omzian underwater sensors by then."

A thin smile appeared on the man's face. Let them hunt this bastard, he thought harshly, as he heard a knock. "Colonel Vansara, sir, Major General Moran wants to see you immediately. It's about the cruise missiles that they have."

It doesn't look good. And now, with great irony, they were learning how to fight their own Omzian-designed machinery.
