Bedou

In the morning light several dozen Al-Wuhaydi horsemen road down the merchant guards of a caravan heading into Africa.
The men had not yet even bathed before returning to the trail, when the bedouins came charging out from the banks of the Jordan river.
They had lain in wait just south of Nazerath.
Over the last few months many Caravans had fallen victim to Bedouin raiders.
IN the land of Isreal it was fast becoming impossible to cross into or out of Egypt with out being attacked by bedouins seeking spoils.
The Al-Wuhaydi were claiming it a road tax. However any peoples who had come to the Al-Wuhaydi requesting permission to cross the Jordanian were escorted as far as the Jordan border and then Sanai bedouins were obliged to escort them the rest of the way to Egypt. Those unfortunate enough not to have sought out Bedouin guides had at best found themselves robbed, and poor.
At worst, they were never found again.
Effectivily the overland route has been cut off by the Bedouin army in Jordan and there raiders in the Negev(Isreali desert).
Those allowed to live were told to tell others of the tax.
And that no exceptions would be brokered, they would have to be earned.
