Alexandria

General Kuprin paced back and forth in the control room. A message had come from the 3rd and 4th divisions, they were about to engage the enemy and had no tank support. Kuprin had set this operation up right though and the tanks would be rolling in soon.

The general had also made sure to send in aerial support to rip apart the paratroopers outside of the city, the foolish troopers would not last very long.

Two squadrons (12 planes each) of Kondors took off from the Alexandria airfield in the south of the city. Armed with Vulcan machine guns and air-to-ground missiles, they picked up speed, heading towards the IDF paratroopers. Right behind them came ten squadrons (20 planes each) of Hawks. The squadrons split up, leaving a large space in the center of them. The Kondors would engage the paratroopers quickly causing as much damage as possible, the rest was for the 3rd and 4th divisions. The Hawks would protect the Kondors from any IDF aircraft.

"Prima Squadron, listen up, we've got a big target here, give 'em hell with the deadfish and follow it up with the vulcans."

The Kondors got within 150 miles of the paratroopers and each launched four missiles, right at the heart of the IDF division. There were explosions everywhere as the Kondors finished their attack with bursts of machine guns. They headed back towards the airfield to be rearmed and reassigned.

The two hundred Hawks did not wait to engage IDF, they launched their own Predator air-to-air missiles, eight of them each. They spread out, ready to continue attacking if they had to.

Lt. General Petrov could hear explosions, they were close. The driver of the truck called out to the soldiers, "Ok boys, you've got five minutes."

Petrov swallowed hard and waited.

OOC:
1)This thread is for Egypt only, the other is for Angola and Tanzania.
2)IDF, are your paratroopers east or west of Alexandria?
3)TMG - do you want me to rp the tanks? TG me with all the stats and stuff.

OOC: My Paratroopers are now 15 miles west of the city. I don't think you'd get those planes in there as 1, my men are under Aegis cover, and 2, there are hundreds of IDF fighters up covering them. Plus, I cratered every airfield with cruise missiles and later with bunker busters to finish the job. There shouldn't be a usable airfield in Egypt.

I also want to point out that there are hundreds of aircraft bombing targets around the clock and the ships firing at closer targets.

IC: The marine boats got within 200 yards of the beach. The doors opened and the men ran out. They were fired at by surviving Zarbian machine gunners, but the IDF fighters targetted them along with IDF Marines. A total of 125 soldiers were wounded or killled. The 1st objective was to capture the dockyard and secure a port for Ro/Ros. The marines were within 2 miles of the objective and began marching under the watchful eye of IDF fighters ready to fire on any muzzle flashes of non-IDF origin.

OOC: I'd love to know how you could stop that... or what you did about it. Screaming "GODMOD" about a bombardment entirely within the tech boundaries is... questionable. His actions were shown. You haven't shown a counter, or a reason such should not be the case. So before you run up the "GODMOD" flag, do tell why its not a reasonable assumption.

OOC: no, it is called launching hundreds of TLAMs-Ds over the past 3 days. (special variants that were designed for the US Navy to crater airfields) I also sent up fighters with bunker busters to do more damage and posted multiple times that I was attacking airfields. These attacks went unopposed, but I still posted losing aircraft as it is to be assumed that SAMs would fire and some fighters would get up. I don't think you'd have airfields after the mass bombings I did. Why don't you check over all of the attacks I did and you will see that I did everything possible to take out the airfields to make sure you couldn't send up any aircraft. I even attacked the aircraft of the ground with cluster munitions. I want you to tell me one possible way that you would have a workable airfield in country.

1) How the hell did you destroy every airfield in Egypt?
2) I should be the one to decide my own casualties
3) You never gave me a chance to post defense
4) I apologize that I wasn't every single thing posted in the other thread, I had finals and all sorts of shit to worry about.

ooc: This is a repost of two posts made before.

ic:

A single antiquated Soviet jet pulled out of the cloud cover and casually observed the scene below. Ships, dark inanimate object thundered grand challenges, and the screaming of other planes rendered a great transgression of the quiet of the night. Beyond the human mechanics of death, the landmass lay silent and watchful, the great shells of the battleships mere scratches to a land older than memory. The pilot grinned, before wrestling with the controls of his aircraft and loosing himself in the gentle embrace of the cloud and within a minute was gone.

As the reconnaissance plane touched down aboard a carrier, Admiral Fenet stared with increasing uncertainty at the armada before him. Some vessels were the backbone of war, great hulking beasts that bristled weaponry from every crevice. Others, smaller, cruder and less imposing formed the more important element of the fleet, for within these steel casings were packed the human fodder of the campaign, men pressed into service and given a weapon, torn away from family and friends to fight in a foreign war of meaningless morality on alien soil. As they moved through the silent sea, Fenet asked himself what it was they were moving towards, victory? Or a shallow grave in the trenches of the fields of monuments, or an elopement into the eternal void of the cold waters. As he paced, he punched out a message to his allies, his fingers stabbing at the keys as he stuttered in the cold.

To all allied commanders in the field stop

We come with aid stop We await information and instructions stop

God speed stop

As he paced, an old shanty arose from within some forgotten corner of his memory, and as it began to play on his lips he could not help but entertain it with sound. ‘The old mother country’, he began, the words finding shape and clearer tone, ‘by the sea, does not see what the sea can see. For the sea can see what will and will be, she’s watching over you and me…’

As his voice trailed into silence, he offered a solitary prayer to God, or to whoever would listen. ‘Lord, I ask you to watch over me, and to forgive me and the other poor bastards for what we are about to do.’ With his prayer sent, he turned on his heel and lost himself within the inhuman comfort of paper and orders. The sea lapped gently against the side of the ship, it’s multitude of blind eyes winking and glistening in the darkness.

One day later

Seela paused, adrenaline making him aware of even the slightest movement. His breath froze in the air, spilling like smoke from his mouth. As he climbed the short steps to his aircraft, he looked again once more at the ship that he had lived in for a year, it may well be the last time he walked on solid metal. As he slung himself into his seat and his gloved hands, insulated against the bitter cold, found joystick and controls. Behind him, his trusted gunner waved to the assembled crowd of techies and grinning behind his pilots mask, he flicked the ignition switch. Instantly, the plane came to life and as he made the complicated technical actions that preceded a launch, he felt as always that sense of morbid anticipation that accompanied any combat mission.

It was the next moment that feelings were reserved for however, as the jet left the run way and the fear and anxiety disappeared beneath the inexorable sensation of freedom. He let out a soft cry of delight as the Carrier drew steadily further away, and over the crackled cine of the communications system the gunner answered in an exalted laugh. The nights sky was now polluted with a thousand false stars, the gleaming fire of the twin jet engines mixed into a great multitude of brightness. Customary checks and confirmations of unimaginative air arms rang throughout the cinetalk, and the vision of the pilot was suddenly transformed into a ghostly green, as the visual image of the landscape was replaced with a computer generated image of the surroundings. As he prepared his missiles, he checked his RADAR transmitters for signs of incoming bogeys, nothing yet, but they could not be ignorant of their presence.

Beneath the carpet of planes, all armed for a ready confrontation with the foe, the great battleships, protected by a wall of submarines, moved into striking distance of the shore.

OOC: I'm sorry but due to RL issues (Final exams) and other RL problems I will be forced to end all of my current RPs. Once again I apologize, but this is out of my control.

Thanks, Zarbia.

The 25,000 marines from the LCACs were at the perimetere of the harbor facilities in Alexandria. They were taking heavy fire and 1,500 of them fell either wounded or dead. IDF fighters and ships were still pounding away and were taking out defenses at the facility. The sky over the area was clear to the helos carrying 2,500 marines flew right in to the facility to help capture it. 3 more waves and 7,500 more marines were available. Once this was captured, more tanks and troops could be brought in along with mobile SAM batteries.

The 3 infantry divisions tool 5,000 casualties and were down to 40,000 men after the fight with the Zarbian divsions. It would've been much bloodier had it not been fore massive cluster bomb drops by IDF Naval aircraft. The soldiers for the 1st time in their lives realized the Navy had a real use.
