The invasion of Mexico City has begun. From Gintonpar Air Force bases in the Rocky Mountains, several C-5 Galaxy supply aircraft have been seen taking off to ressuply the Gintonpar troops in Mexico to quell the civil unrest in and around Mexico City. According to the Prince himself, Gintonpar had annexed Mexico City, along with several surrounding Mexican provinces, to "quell civil disturbance, and to make Mexico a safer, and more prosperous place for all, especially us." As far as we know the invasion has been peaceful and relatively bloodless. "The anarchic Mexican states have been fermenting trouble for months and finally someone has stepped in to restore order", these were the words of the pro government think tank 'PolitiGin' and seem to echo the thoughts of many world leaders. Previously the independent Mexican states had been a haven for criminals and terrorists from all around the world, but as the Gintonpar troops advance there seems to be no immediate threat. It is beleived that the main thrust was along the West Coast of Mexico, where air cover was available from the Nimitz Class aircraft carrier 'Pride of Gintonpar', as the men of the 16 Marine Assault Brigade secured a beachhead in the region of Guerrero. Although there was no fighting in Mexico City itself there were initial clashes between local forces and the Gintonpar 88th Armoured division almost as soon as they landed. The Marines had secured the beachhead by the time any response was organised and it was only when the 88th Armoured division began to move inland that any resistance was encountered. Losses are believed to be minimal as the Abrams tanks pushed inland. It is believed that one or two may have been damaged by hand held RPGs but there are no reports of any destroyed tanks. Official sources put the Gintonpar loss of life at around 100 killed and 250 wounded in total. Enemy casualties are believed to be in the region of 2000 killed and 8000 wounded, captured or missing.

As the first elements of our leading columns entered Mexico City there was cheering mingling with cries of relief as the first food supplies in days were delivered to the more beleagured areas of Mexico City. Although the city is not yet secure, no resistance is anticipated and the rest of the 88th is expected to arrive in strength tommorow. The amazing speed of the leading elements of the advance has been attributed to total air superiority by official sources, but there is some suspicion that special forces had been at work for weeks as the roads to Mexico City were all open and trouble free. The Parachute Regiment were the first troops in Mexico City as they secured the airports and bridges and they were relieved late on in the day by the scouting column of the 88th. The occupation has been smooth and the transition of power to the Principality of Gintonpar is also expected to go without a hitch. This victory promises much prosperity for the Principality and it provides a chance of relief for the suffering of the inhabitants of Mexico that are being helped by our conquest. Well done to the armed forces for this efficient, quick, and morally just action.
