VA-1 'Merlin' Fighter-Bomber

http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ac/boepic5.jpg

This plane has been designed to grant complete air superiority to our forces. It extensively uses Phoenixian technology to acheive this. The plane has sytems that can automatate the missile avoidance tactics, leaving the pilot to concentrate on flying and shooting. The plane is highly stealthed and in conjunction with the holographic technology from Phoenix the plane is virtually undetectable to radar. The plane has STOL capability, so can be used to conduct operations from carriers. In addition the plane flies very fast, minimising the risk to the pilot.

The Nemesis F-201 is new to the ZFighter family, and is an interesting design. It is so small because of the specifications needed for its role: A submarine launched fighter jet. The idea was posed by Intelligent Neighbors, and I immediately hopped on the idea and project.

The single turbofan engine is the T-8221, which has four rotatable cascade-type exhaust nozzles. For take-off, the nozzles are initially in the fully aft position and then are rotated partially downwards for lift-off and acceleration. Vectoring in forward flight is achieved by vectoring the nozzles at high speed for sudden deceleration and very tight turns.

Revenant MkII

Image (Click) (http://chrisevans3d.com/temp/merkava.jpg)

Features

Features

Protection and survivability

Priority in this tank has been given to protection and survivability, utilizing the tank's systems for protecting the crew (the engine is installed in the front of the tank), with storage of ammunition in protected containers, automatic fire suppression system, an overpressure NBC system, and more.
The Revenant MkII is one of the best protected tanks in the world. Its advanced protective systems provide increased protection against penetration of APFSDS shells and all known ATGM's, and its sensors are capable of detecting the launch of such missiles in advance, including laser-guided missiles. The tank is fitted with the Amcoram LWS-2 laser warning system, with threat warning display installed at the commander's station.

In the Revenant MkII, the ballistic protection is modular and provides effective protection against modern threats, involving both protection efficiency and coverage area. Above all, the ballistic protection includes roof protection, which provides a capability against overhead attacks. The electromagnetic threat identification warning system is an advanced generation. The turret and the hull are fitted with a modular armour system which can be changed in the field. The forward section of the turret is fitted with additional blocks of armour which provide extra protection against the latest generation of top attack anti-tank missiles. A skirt of chains with ball weights is installed on the lower half of the turret bustle. Incoming HEAT projectiles detonate on impact with the chains instead of penetrating the turret ring. Sprung armour side skirts protect the wheels and tracks.

The armour also has elements of ASH in the vital areas: ‘The first layer (hardened steel) prevents small calibre rounds and fragments penetrating. Then a layer of Hard-Foam slows many shells and will stop HEAT. Then a layer of non-flammable, dense liquid, helps stop Anti-Tank SABOT rounds penetrating. Then some 'secret composites' are used, followed by a layer of steel. This armour is light and very strong.’

Firepower

The tank is equipped with a 140mm gun that is an advanced generation of the type developed for the Russian Black Eagle tank. The 1405mm gun can sustain higher pressures, resulting in improved range and penetration performance. The gun provides for firing of high-power munitions with increased penetrating capabilities. The ready-to-fire ammunition is stored in a protected compartment. The system allows the loader to semi-automatically select the desired ammunition type.

The tank's fire control system includes modern components, whose capabilities are very high in detection range and target acquisition. The night vision system is based on the world's leading thermal technology. The automatic tracking ability is very capable. The systems provide for the implementation of an effective combat doctrine in target acquisition, allocation and destruction by commander and gunner. The system which supports the fire power is controlled by displays and advanced operating systems, helping the commander with effective data communication and battle management. The tank carries an ammunition store of 50 rounds of 120 mm ammunition. The tank is also equipped with one 7.62 mm and two 12.7mm machine guns, two roof mounted and one co-axial with the main gun. The tank carries a store of 10,000 rounds of ammunition.

The internal 65 millimetre mortar system, which is a large calibre gun with a low muzzle velocity, is capable of firing high explosive rounds and illumination bombs. The crew can load, aim and fire the mortar system from within the turret.

A series of live firing tests of the LAHAT - Laser Guided anti-tank missile included the firing of 140mm missiles, adapted for smooth-bore gun of the Revenant MkII. The missile is also designed for employment from launch tubes, where it could be deployed from fixed positions, light vehicles or APC's. The missile’s trajectory can be set to match either tank (top attack) or helicopter (direct attack) engagement. Finally, the missile uses a tandem warhead which can defeat modern armour and reactive panels. The main warhead has a high penetration capability, defeating all known armoured vehicles at high impact angles typical of top attack trajectories.

Mobility

The Revenant MkII tank is equipped with a modern engine. This is a 1,500 horse power American-built diesel engine, controlled by a computer connected both to the driver's panel and to the modern automatic transmission system. Some of the models have already covered more than 10,000 kilometres in field tests. The engine and transmission constitute a power pack that is considered a world leader.

The great power of the engine, in conjunction with the strong suspension provides the tank with high mobility and manoeuvrability. The hull designed in a way that improves frontal protection and the driver's field of view. For improving reverse driving, a camera has been developed which enables the driver to look behind the tank while driving backwards without requiring commander or ground direction.

The tank is equipped with full perimeter defence, both vertical and horizontal. This, combined with an advanced observation and control system, will enable the tank commander to function from the turret with full protection from external threats such as anti-tank missiles.

The tank is equipped with a central filtering system for protection against nuclear-biological-chemical threats, enabling the crew to function without face masks or cumbersome protective suits.

The Revenant MkII design features a front-mounted engine and battery, room inside for 6 full armed soldiers in addition to the crew and a rear access hatch allowing for the quick evacuation of crews and injured soldiers. Enemy fire directly striking the front of the tank, the most likely point of attack, is absorbed by the mass of the engine block, protecting the crew. The engine pack is easily replaced.

The Pz-4 Jäger-Mörder showing it's fording capabilities.

Note: All above tanks are NOT fitted with the final weapons and technology.

History:
After the failure of the IPHA Puma MBT to acheive decent export sucesses and it's unreliability in service, Venom defense, was contracted to produce a replacement MBT, that performed well as a partner to the admirable and unbeatable Revenant MkII. The tank needed to be as good as or better than the Revenant MkII.

Description:

-CACS/DEITY BATTLEFIELD MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

The Pz-4 Jäger-Mörder is fitted with the CACS (Computer Aided Control System) designed by Pheonixius. Generation IV – Basic computer navigation of the vehicle, utilising navigational aids, weapon system control, group co-ordination. This means that the system communicates with other CACS systems, generation III or higher, so that navigational data, such as that from radar systems, can be exchanged for better situational awareness. Data can also be sent to Deity systems so that an entire battlefield can be viewed in one location from all the various devices used. 512-bit encryption is used to allow secure transmission between systems. Friend or Foe targeting allows the computer to carry out the warfare almost on its own, identifying enemy units and aiding allied units This is done by communicating with object, and if a friendly signal is detected then it is passed over – if an enemy signal, or no signal is detected then the object will be identified as a target to be destroyed by the system. There is a manual override to allow fire-lock and to do the targeting manually.

The Deity system is a battlefield wide system that takes all the data sent by the CACS and sorts and merges it. It then makes this information available to all systems that can use this data such as CACS, Warrior headsets, PHBVS and other such systems. This means that the tank can display locations of freindly units, as well as enemy units spotted by allies.

-ARMAMENT

The primary weapon of the tank is a 145mm electro-thermal-chemical (ETC) gun, identical to the one that is due to be installed on the Revenant MkIIU.

The projectile is loaded into the barrel, behind which there is a "propellant", which is a dot of light metal (solid or liquid). A powerful electromagnetic force is applied to the metal, which causes its atoms to "switch" directions. This happens so violently that the metal turns to plasma, and this expanding gas then drives the projectile forward. The autoloader on this tank can fire at 15 rounds per minute (sustained) and 20 rounds per minute (theoretical max).

The cannon can rotate 360-degrees and has an elevation of +35 degrees and -10 degrees. The recommended range of the cannon is 4.8 miles with a maximimum of 5.8 miles (not very effective).

The rounds for this gun include: APFSDS, SCRAMjet, HEAT, HE, HESH, 'Balls of fire' rounds (ball bearing and napalm), and ATGM's.

The commander’s weapon on top of the turret is a remotely controlled small gatling gun wiith 8 12.7mm barrels putting out 2000 or 3000 RPM, making it an excellent anti-infantry and anti-helicopter weapon.

The coaxial weapon is a 12.7mm machinegun, specially suited for anti-infantry work.

On top of the turret, there is a small 'pop-up' box, holding two Awe King SAM missiles. Upon detection of enemy aircraft the CACS system pops the box up and fires at the target. When both missiles are used, the box dropps down into the turret and is reloaded. There are only 4 missiles for this feature stored within the tank usually.

In addition, there is an 80mm mortar in the tank, this saves valuable ammunition in a firefight and gives a tob attack capability allowing the tank to fire over obstacles. This is coupled to the CACS system for automatic targetting.

-ARMOUR

The Pz-4 Jäger-Mörder uses multiple armour types, including hardened steel, composite, Triada and ASH.

ASH: The first layer (hardened steel) prevents small calibre rounds and fragments penetrating. Then a layer of Hard-Foam slows many shells and will stop HEAT. Then a layer of non-flammable, dense liquid, helps stop Anti-Tank SABOT rounds penetrating. Then some 'secret composites' are used, followed by a layer of steel. This armour is light and very strong.

The ASH is mainly around the front of the hull (Glacis plate and so on) and on the turret. A thin layer is present on the turret roof, providing extra protection against top attack ATGM's.

Triada: This armour is composed of the following layers: the first is a self-healing layer, similar to that in the Triad Armour; the second layer is a thin layer of a titanium-aluminium alloy; the third is a layer of Depleted Uranium, increasing the protection of the tank; the fourth layer is a titanium-aluminium alloy, threaded with carbon-whiskers; the fith layer is composed of a carbon-silicon nano-mesh that will seriously slow down any bullets that penetrate the first four layers.

Optional AERA: With the AERA-II 3rd Gen. ERA system, the primary layer ignites outwards with the second layer following behind after a certain time-delay nearly doubling the effectiveness of the system. The primary layer ignites when a proximity sensor/network detects an object with projectile-like movement coming towards the tank, then using an onboard supercomputer it quickly calculates the variables of tank speed, tank heading, projectile speed, projectile heading, wind, weather and projectile altitude to determine where the projectile is to hit... Upon finishing the calculations (with plenty of seconds to spare before the round hits), the computer activates a 3-5 ERA block area (made of primary layers) to ignite at a set time with the second layer following after. An auxilary system, although not as effective, works to ignite the ERA blocks upon contact with a high-speed projectile...

Optional Kaktus ERA: Kaktus ERA can also be installed. This system uses the idea of plates of metal sliding sideways upon impact, increasing the amount of metal the HEAT warhead has to burn through. In addition, this rapid action has been known to split APFS rounds in two.

-COUNTERMEASURES

The Pz-4 Jäger-Mörder has standard flare/chaff pods, in addition to 16 81mm grenade launchers on the turret.

There are several jamming systems to attempt to stop missiles, as well as linking the CACS system with the commanders gun to allow automatic firing on enemy infantry threats. The SAM pod and the 80mm mortar are also linked.

There is an extensive NBC protection system to help the crew and equipment to survive EMP pulses and radiation, as well as toxic chemicals.

-ENGINES

The Pz-4 Jäger-Mörder is equipped with an improved INCM V8I-2000 Powerbar diesel engine providing 1,900hp at 2,900rpm. The engine provides a road speed over 45mph and cross country speed up to 28mph.

The tank also has a Turbomeca TM-307B gas turbine auxiliary power unit to provide power when the engine is switched off.

-AUTOLOADER

The Pz-4 uses the perfected TL-M-50 auto-loader. This autoloader does not require the cannon to be brought down to a horizontal position but instead follows the cannon up and uses a variable drive assembly system to load the shell into the cannon's chamber at any elevation. This auto-loader only has a ready-rack of about six rounds which is then fed by a 'chain-link drive' to the ammunition storage compartment. Each time a shell is fired and one is loaded into the weapon, the armored partition (between the ammo storage compartment and interior of turret) opens, a hydraulic arm pushes the shell onto a 'plate' which then runs the shell to the auto-loader ready-rack. The auto-loader can also load a barrel-fired ATGM providing that a crew member put the weapon on the rack and designate its firing properties.

'Scope' Class Submarine

http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ship/seawolf2.jpg

This submarine is an innovative design, and thanks to the aid of Witzgall, designers at Venom Defense have developed a submarine capable of carrying aircraft.

The submarine is very similar in shape and size to the 'Seawolf' class, used by the US Navy. Differences include less space for missles, and a lower speed. This is offset however by the ability to store up to two Nemesis F-201 ZFighter Jet's, deigned precisely for this task by Witzgall's Solarstar Corporation.

The planes are stored inside the submarine, in two a watertight holds. When the submarine surfaces, the pod roof slides open and the floor lifts the plane up. This allows the plane to take off using it's VTOL engines.

When the planes need to land, they land one at a time, being guided in by IR and radio signals. The pilots need to be trained to use this system.
