Summary
Khwarezmia is under the dictatorship of the Director, an iron-fisted, Big-Brother controller of the nation. He has absolute power over everything and everyone in Khwarezmia. Should anyone oppose him, he has the equivalent of an army of Police, and fanatical crusader like Commissars who hunt out infidels and rebels.
However, the average Khwarezmian loves the Director. Why? Well he puts food on their plates, gives them jobs, allows them to have two children, and provides all that they need. "The Director loves you, repay his love." The posters say.
Politics
The Government of Khwarezmia is headed by the Director and his two Ministers. The Director has absolute control over Khwarezmia, and the National Commissariat are answerable only to him. The finer points of ruling the country is the responsibility of the Secretaries, for example the Secretary of Finance.
Foreign Policy

Culture
Although the citizens have no say in the running of the country, it does not mean that they are oppressed. In their free time they are allowed to do anything they like, providing they do not break any laws. Anyone who does attempt to have thier political say is arrested. Usually forcibly. Usually at night.
The national sport of Khwarezmia is Pygmy Mammoth Polo. All the major cities have their own teams of whom compete in the National League.
Environment & Geography
The north of Khwarezmia is largely covered by dense towering forest, inhabited by Pygmy Mammoths, Orange Dwarf Yetis, Flying Lemmings and packs of Orange Yeti-dogs. The forests consist largely of huge pines that are metres wide and tower up to 150 metres high. The forest floor is covered by a thick carpet of pine needles and patches of Orange Fern.
The north-east leaves the forest behind and becomes and area of barren rock; canyon and valleys crisscross the landscape, carved from ancient glaciers, the sides of these chasms are dotted with caves. The caves are home to the terrifying Cave Hamster, and the even more feared Cave Rabbit. These creatures have an appetite not yet equalled, which is often their downfall.
The only other type of habitat is the rivers that intersect the forest. Pine is replaced by Oak, where Wild Pig and Sheep-Goats scavenge through the undergrowth for giant Oak Apples and Acorns. In the rivers Purple Trout, Spikey Pike and small Wonnims stalk and flit through the weed.
In the summer the temperatures above the canopy reach up to 40°C whereas the shade maintains a cool 25°C. There is rainfall for 33% to 50% of the days of the year. During winter, many areas of the country fall under snow, transforming the green into a white wilderness.
The south, and western peninsula are the agricultural zones of the country. It is covered but mile upon mile of plains, of which 37& is covered by arable land. There is a short hot summer there, in which the farmers plant, grow, and harvest their crops. Irrigation towers are the most common sight upon the landscape, which has few hills, wind farms are occasionally visible, taking advantage of the unobstructed landscape for wind.
CO2 outputs are heavily monitored, industrial CO2 exhaust is piped out into the forest, where it can be absorbed, and urban output of CO2 is kept below the rate that the vegetation can absorb it. Hydro Electric Dams and Oscillating Wave Columns supply 95% of the country's electricity, the other five percent is wind power. Public transport is extremely good and there are more buses than cars, of which use electrical or highly efficient fossil fuels engines.
Due to the climate under the forest canopy insulation is not a big investment, and the wood that many of the houses are constructed from provide ample warmth in the winter months.

The KNC
The KNC, or Khwarezmian National Commissariat in full, is the Director's personal secret police. The Agents of the Commissariat are answerable only to the Director himself. The Commissariat's job is to root out anyone of who is a threat, has been a threat, or could be a threat to the Director. Their juristiction spans the entire country, and anywhere else that dissenters and infidels might be.
The KNP
The Khwarezmian National Police are the most feared organisation in the country. It is responsible for detaining any dissenters, stopping unrest, customs and upholding the censorship. Although it performs many of the tasks of the Commissariat, it is the iron-fist in the face, whereas the KNC is the dagger in the back.
The KNP is a single-minded hammer with which the Director wields against anyone inside the country. Should it be nescessary, the Police need to be able to fight the Army, and as a result, the average Polive Operative has more armour and firepower at his or her disposal than the Army. Although fewer in number, the Police have superior training, and two of the country's most impregnable fortresses.
