Piracy off the coast of Random Kingdom(RP)

Gunships and other armed naval vessels have been attacking and pirating cargo, cruise and trade ships off the coast of Random Kingdom, stealing anything of value, and often taking captains, officials and rich or important passengers prisoner, in addition too poor passengers and disabling the boats of which they gain control. The pirates are large in number, very well armed, well co-ordinated, fast, and often violent. The have naval class ships, with guns and the works, and are equipped with radio equipement and everything a good ship could want. Sometimes boats work together too plunder the same ship. They do so quickly, taking down communications, fighting off resistance, taking what they need, disabling the ship and departing. The equipement seems vaguely Alexian in style. They tend too avoid military and coastguard ships, or anyone who can resist them. They also are very apt at avoiding air survaliance.

The attacks are rapidly mounting in number and forocity.

OOC: Random Kingdom doesn't currently have a real elected government. They're still recovering from geckoid rule...

IC: The general public of Random Kingdom are shocked by the alleged piracy, and ports lining the southern ocean have been abandoned, the goods moved further north. The voluntary army, which is still active thanks to little government influence, has set up patrols in the south, and have been told to shoot any ships down that are not under military escort. Hopefully this will prevent the pirates from setting foot on RK soil, or any more ships being intercepted. Most people point the finger at the Alexian government, or Alexian rebels.

OCC: I see. Thanks for telling me.

The Emperial Goverment of the Alexian Empire is insulted that we would be accused of inciting, sponsoring, ordering, organizing or any other such thing too do with piracy. We deny these rediculous allegations, and feel that the Random Kingdom goverment is making these attacks from thin air, or creating them themselves, so as to use to propagate your hatred of Alexians.

Meanwhile the attacks continue ceaseless, although the pirates seem to be stearing a few more miles from shore than before. The pirates have also been now taking as many prisoners as possible, and making off with parts of the ship that can be resold(engine parts, air conditioners and such)

We are sending out spy ships to track these pirates down. They are regular Random Kingdom merchant vessels that have been brought under military control and have been disguised somewhat to give the illusion that they are under the pirates' control.

what kind of stuff JRV?

The attacks continue too increase in frequency and foricity, the pirates growing ever bolder.

They do not seem to realize that the ships our not commercial boats, and are quite surprised when they meet armed resistance too there attacks. For several days they simply run away when confronted with these ships, but soon they began attacking them all out, trying to sink them, and only running when they think that reinforcements our coming. The piracy continues, but now even more offset.

Great numbers of
Strike Fighter Aircraft, followed by Strike Bombers, made an attack on all the
costal cities/towns in RK simultaneously, targeting mainly the army forces stationed there, and major infastructure things being a secondary target. The planes we followed by attack helicopters, which fired at everything they could, seemingly attempting to cause as much damage as possible to everything.

They then quickly fled at top speed away from Random Kingdom.

I will leave it up too you to decide what happened and how it played out, amount of damage and such, as it wouldn't be fair for me too do that for you. Let me know.

A highly explosive rocket was fired at the forces defending a small coastal town today, apparently from long range, and appears to have been from a military submarine.

Losses and damages are as of yet unknown.

The entire southern coast of RK has been placed on full alert, and as many settlements as possible in the south have been demilitarized, and the citizens evacuated up north. Counter-attacks are scheduled to begin. The voluntary army has claimed that at least this number of commodities were lost:

3 million citizens
2,000 buildings
30,000 infantry
1,000 navy
5 attack planes

This is a conservative estimate and much more resources are expected to be lost as the counter-attacks begin.

(Oh, that is nice that you play fair, but I must apologize, I was perhaps unclear. It is not nearly that big of an attack at all. Just like a couple minutes of quick fighting, trying to take out trainstations and powerplants and stuff like that, but not at all that large an attack. You just went a bit overboard on your loses and stuff, like, maybe a couple thousand civilian deaths at the very most, a hundred buildings maybe, some soldiers and tanks and shit, but not that big at all. In fact, that was my fault, I was very unclear. My bad. Thanks for playing fair though.

P.S. You can post approx how much of my planes you took out to, as long as it is fair and makes sense. It's only fair it be up too you since I attacked.

Anyhow, thanks for playing fair, but and attack that big, well, I'd need alot more than just a couple airplanes wouldn't I?Hahaha! Anyhow, see you around. I need to go find a burrito.)

Pirates are attacking with the same frequency and forocity, but it does not seem that they notice the lack of army presence.

However, if they were to find out, it is likely that they would sieze the opportunity to raid costal villages, cities and towns.

But, there is not really an apparent way they could find out.

We will use the good old-fashioned art of deception. A fake army 'presence' will be created using dummies, cardboard and actual vehicles - anything we can get our hands on. When the festival is over the army will launch a counter-attack.
Alexias
04-01-2005, 01:19
Aside from the occasional inacurate bombardement of the dummies, the pirates to do not seem to catch on to the lack of army presence, and continue to limit themselves to incoming and outgoing boats.

A carrier battle group, headed by the PRSS Cryvellia has been diverted to the area to escort merchantshipping from friendly nations, as well as to engage any suspected pirates found in the area. The pirates continued to attack every month, stealing trading ships and wrecking coastal villages. After the recent attack, as they returned home with more cargo, a fishing boat belonging to a nosey, suspicious RK fisherman started to tail the fleet. Are these pirates independant, or working for the Alexian government? We will find out.

The pirates are actually being brought supplies(secretly) by boats, which they meet far out in international waters, then come back and go around the RK waters after that. And when one boat goes back to wherever it came from, another comes to replace it, and so on. And if they saw fishermen, espicially fishermen that were following them, they would attack them.

That is why they did not leave a lot sooner.

OOC: Tell me if I've gone overboard (excuse the pun) on this, 'K? Thanks.
IC:A TV report in Random Kingdom talks about the loss of Henry Carter, 58, a fisherman in Lockes' Bay, to the Alexian pirates. Witnesses saw the fisherman tail the pirates' fleet, his boat attacked and the man cast into the water. The speed and rapidity (is that a word?) of the pirates' attacks has resurrected the conspiracy that these pirates are directly connected with the Alexian government, though this proves slightly unlikely.

As soon as the Aerial Battle Force are deployed, Nimrod maritime reconnaissance aircraft begin conducting constant patrols over the most affected areas. Each Nimrod is accompanied by six Centaur-class attack aircraft carrying a selection of laser guided bombs. A looped message is transmitted on the standard international frequency to all shipping passing through the area giving details of how to request air support in the event of a pirate attack.
Initial supplies for the ABf are being airlifted into Random Kingdom using RT-1707 transport planes, though these are only capable of bringing in smaller ordanance such as bombs. Heavier weapons are being brought by one of the forward deployed logistics fleets, which is due to arrive in approximatly a week.
Meanwhile, the Cryvellia battle group continues to escort merchant shipping through the area, using its wing of embarked E-2c AEW aircraft to provide advance warning of any potential attackers. The data gathered is also transmitted via satellite to whichever Nimrod is currently on patrol, allowing a more comprehensive view of the area to be built up.

Though the coast was seemingly no longer under threat of attack, a disturbing note is that it is now obvious that the pirates are not only working together in addition to being highly trained and armed, but that they are extremly co-ordinated.

a series of Long range water to surface missles were launched at the three largest coastal cities in Random Kingdom, targetting the harbor, trying to do as much damage as possible. The missles to do not appear to have had much more range then they went, and appear to have come from military submarines. The attacks are estimated to have been carried out by 3 to 4 different submarines.

The attacks did not take into account the Naval forces stationed in these cities, missing them altogether.

Even more disturbing, the pirates appear to have left mines in there wake.

All docked Random Kingdom ships have been asked by the government NOT to move out of the harbours, as it appears that the attackers have left mines in the water. Similarly, all RK ships out of the country have been requested to stay away from the southern bay, and to instead request permission to dock at other Golden Hills ports. Citizens in the south are being taught basic self-defence, and evacuation could be announced. The government is still reluctant to move the army out of New Hope to repel the pirates. Also, the theory that the Alexian government is involved is still to be disproved.

07-01-2005, 14:55
The Nimrod saw detected the missile launches on radar, and given the lack of surface contacts in the vicinity the Commander of the Aircraft came to the conclusion that the missiles must have been launched by either a stealth ship or a submarine, either of which would suggest the involvement of a foreign power.
Since the Nimrod was not carrying any ASW equipment on this mission, and was too large to evade the SAMs that a stealth ship could carry, the Commander of the Aircraft saw little point in risking his aircraft doing a reconnaissance run over one of the missile firing sites. Instead, he dispatched one of the Centaurs to do a series of high and low level passes over the closest of the launch sites to see if anything could be found.
Since the submarine had (presumably) submerged and fled long before the Centaur arrived nothing was found except an empty ocean.
Nevertheless, copies of the radar tapes were transmitted to all Shildonian units in the area, as well as the government of Random Kingdom and the JRVian navy along with a warning to beware of possible submarines.
Although the evidence of submarines was almost non-existant, the Wing Commander in charge of the Nimrod detachment was able to persuade his superiors to preempt one of the resupply flights to get his LASH hyper-spectral imaging pods flown in, along with a supply of sonarbuoys and air launched torpedoes. The torpedoes and sonarbuoys should have arrived with the logistics fleet, but it had been delayed due to the reports of a minefield in the area, and since the submarine threat had been thought to be almost non-existant they were of a low priority compared with the anti-shipping weapons.

The Cryvellia, on the other hand, never went anywhere without her own ASW capability, and as soon as the message was recieved ASW patrols were instantly stepped up, with Cherokee-class ASW planes beginning round the clock coverage around the carrier group and the merchantships they were escorting.
In addition, one of the AAW cruisers and an ASW frigate were detached from the main carrier group and ordered closer to shore to provide a limited degree of defence against further missile attacks.

OOC: I suspect the most RP will occur around the unity festival (in Central Athena, New Hope). That is where the troops would probably be best required.

IC: The Voluntary Army is deployed in Southern Random Kingdom, where entrenchments and crude SAM mechanisms have replaced beaches and gardens. An evacuation order has been announced throughout SRK - the majority of the citizens of SRK have been welcomed into the "free" pockets of geckoid-run Northern Random Kingdom, and all over Main RK. All stock in SRK warehouses and docks is ordered to be moved north where it will either stay or, with permission, to other nations or the RK puppet Sweatshoponia (ooc: unless this classifies as puppetwank or the like). Hopefully there is now no reason for the pirates to continue attacking.
Random Kingdom
11-01-2005, 22:12
The plan was simple yet its execution was not. By moving everything plunderable north, they believed that the pirates would have to disembark their vessels, leaving them mostly vulnerable. Spies from the RKVA would attempt to board some of the pirate ships and stow away in the cargo holds of the ships. That way, if the pirates were fought by the soldiers before they could find anything worth taking, they would leave in the infiltrated vessels without opening the holds. When they arrive at Alexias, or wherever they take the stolen cargo, spies can infiltrate the base and somehow gain access to the wares.

The Water Espionage Division, under Commander Robin Parker, and Earth Defense Squad (lead by Field Overseer Andrea Cordova) have been assigned the mission. They are currently been escorted by bodyguards to the South RK Voluntary Army Headquarters, which in turn is being heavily guarded.
