"Hello everybody. We here in the Soviergn Armed Dictatorship of Nutropinia feel it is necessary to prepare for the impending disaster we see as occuring from global warming. In response we will be starting a huge spending campaign and country wide improvements in our cold weather capabilities. I will go down a list of what we will be doing.

1)Purchase 50,000 Plows from Kahta.
2)Install heaters underneath all roads to prevent snow and ice from forming.
3)Arm every single dwelling with an M-14.
4)Expand the Military by at least 10 Divisions.
5)Create a Civil Engineers Corps responsible for maintaining roads, bridges, tunnels and rescuing and helping people during the cold weather.
6)Train entire military in extreme cold weather fighting.
7)Install Central Heating in every home and guarantee heating oil when the temperature drops below 0 fahrenheit.
8)Increase fertilizer use and expand farming land to make sure food is plentiful.
9)The Construction of 10 Nuclear Power Plants running on Fission Reactors, throughout the country.

We have also experienced changing weather patterns ourselves (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=379968&page=3&pp=15) as a result of global warming. Or, in our case, cooling, as the warm Gulf Current is shutting down. There is no reason why a city (our capital, Great Woody City) with its lattitude of 25 degrees N should be getting seventeen inches of ocean-effect snow every year. Some of our northern territories have seen annual snowfall go from near zero to sixty inches in the last decade.

The increasing cold is already starting to damage our extensive rainforests, which act as our national pollution sink. Even though we are somewhat overcrowded, we set aside approximately 25% of our land for forests. The costs to reseed the dying rainforest with something more adaptable to the changing climate will easily be in the hundreds of billions.

We also need to purchase cold-weather supplies, as we were a semitropical nation only a few years ago. We are willing to suspend our ambivalence toward other nations' domestic policies in order to work with them on this pressing issue. Global warming affects us all.

I have been Monitoring your situation Evil Woody Thoughts and sympathize with your plight. We have also been experiencing problems. We have three rivers and two great lake size lakes in our nation, a mountain range one coast on the ocean. We are on the east coast of North America (OOC: Not a real place in Europe, but their climate works out better) and because of the Disruption of the North Atlantic Current due to the melting of ice due to global warming instead of warming up our climate is getting colder rapidly. The summers have gotten extremely warm because of depletion of the ozone weather and the average winter temperature has dropped from 34 Fahrenheit to 19 Fahrenheit. The average snowfall has increased on the coast and in the middle of the country from lake and Ocean effect snow from 26" to 48" a year. In the mountains the yearly snow fall has increased from 60" to 90" a year. We are preparing rapidly and curtailing emissions.
