Hammer Down; Invasion of Malaysia and East Australia[EIII]

“…and so that is the fourth iron shipment raided this month,” spoke a small man who’s faced was wrinkled and hair tracked with silver.
“Curse those insurgents, we would have left them alone as long as they kept things running as they should,” muttered Mikail.
“I know Milord, but they seem to want you to attack, they may believe if will turn the people against you.”
“Your right Mez, but we cannot have more than this group of insurgents against us…no we must be subtle,” replied Mikail. Snapping his fingers he declares, “We shall disrupt their food supply.”
“But how will that help your cause?” inquires Mez.
“Because, we shall make them believe the insurgents caused it, we still have access to the media there, and enough of them will believe it, making the later reintegration much easier as we will not have those drones sided with the Unionists.” Chuckled Mikial, “Send in a A.S. force, time to take down the farm.”
.:Hours later:.
The six men were running. Shouts still echoed behind them. This was not part of the plan.
It had been going fine; the trip through the badlands was as uneventful as, well a trip through the badlands. They reached the Mikosolf Food Production East complex without being detected, its massive buildings looking deathly silver in the days weaning light. Ditching the vehicle in the rocky outskirts they proceeded on foot through the residential areas heading towards the center, the “farm”. It was easy, unfortunately too easy.
They had completed their objective, placing an override into the “farm’s” mainframe, shutting it down, and that’s when it got ugly. The klaxons called, turning to leave they were greeted by eight armed men. Though the six were unarmed, they had been trained to deal with such situations. As the eight men approached to shake them down they sprung into action, taking down six of the eight in the firsts moments. Moving before the remaining two could react then went down, but one buy a shot from his gun.
“Damnit Mauris,” another cried out, speaking for the first time, “as if the alarm wasn’t enough, every damn snooper in this place heard that now, and next time they won’t be sending eight men, we gotta go, now!”
And so, they ran but they felt no hope as doing so, this place belonged to the Unionists. But they ran because their deaths would compromise the mission to the utmost. But despite their years of training, the odds were against them as round and round began raining down upon them. So as their bodies cooled and the blood mingled so ended the possibility for a surgical end to this “insurgency”, for now it may turn into a rebellion.
.:Later:.
“Damn…Ready the forces, we have to take them by force,” Turning to the thousands of men now lined up before him he spoke, “The possibility for a bloodless solution with these Unionists has failed. Therefore we must turn to the lessons taught to us by our forefathers, “to rule the weak you must use the iron rod”. You my loyal soldiers are that rod, with you we shall weed out this rebellion and reunite Australia back under the Mikosolf Corporation. Let no man who stands against this goal alive, there shall be no mercy for the fools who defy us!” Saluting he turns, already knowing what will happen next. The sound rang out behind him, there as always, the same way his robes followed him no matter how fast he walked.
“We are the dead! We live to serve! Our lives our borrowed! Today we shall repay our Lord’s gift!”
Softer now, “move out” and the sounds of thousands of feet, treads, and engines roar to life, moving towards the east.
“Sir, do you think its while to begin such a large internal mobilization? Others in the region may see us as weak.”
“I know that Mez, that’s why we are not just attacking the Unionists,” he paused enjoying the look of shock on Mez’s face, it was not often Mikial surprised him, “no, we are taking Malaysia, send to the expeditionary fleet, make haste for Malaysia, I want a LZ bombed out within seventy two hours (of reaching Malaysia).”

OOC: Right now the "Unionists" (E. Australia) is what I need; they are basically a fairly substantial rebel group (worker rights, phff). They are in control of about three-four of our super-cites (think skyscrapers on crack) and some of the badlands around them. I’m sending in a large force to weed them out after the covert attacked failed.
Malaysia will happen soon enough, right now we have about five days travel/prep time for the fleet before they even reach there and another seventy-two hours to prep the LZ before any land attack begins. So we have plenty of time to mostly quench the insurgents (or at least scatter them) before the ships even leave port.

They were moving out. The comforting whirl of the APC’s engine allowed the troopers in the back to enjoy the brief down time before they hit their first target; Miko Industrial A-7. It was only a few minutes now, the mission clock glowed red in the darkened compartment, and soon they would disembark and begin preparing entrance into the city.
“Move out!” his commander barked over the com as the metal hatch swung loose slamming upon the earth with a thud. Steeping out in the moonlight he stared at the city, its massive buildings glowing milky silver.
“We are going to make base camp here and begin psychological warfare, I want you men to catch some Z we are heading in at 0500.” The crisp radio ordered.
The private watched briefly as the directional speakers were set up, their ten foot frames facing towards the darkened city. Suddenly they clicked on, their backs vibrating with effort, but the sound did not reach their ears, no only those in that unfortunate city could hear it.

AS war approached on the horizon, the Unionist leaders met to discuss the coming hostilities.
"So, what in Gods name are we going to do?"
"What we always do - prepare our defences and get ready to send those westerners back to where they came from."
"Will that work this time? They have advanced much more than the last time they attacked."
"Whos cares? Its the only thing we can do."
"Very well. Set up the defences and get ready to send them back."
All over the eastern half of Australia, defences were hastily being put up, weapons broken out of half stocked armouries, and old vehicles started up for the first time in years. Overall, the Unionists had no chance, but they didn't know that, and so they prepared for war.

4.0 million infantry (100 Corps of 40,000 troops) in [A.M.I.] combat armor
As you can see we have only deployed one corps out of one hundred, this is not including the armor, artillery, etc that a modern army must contain. We’d suggest you consider this before engaging in anything to directly with the Corporation.
--Outside of Miko Industrial A-7—
-Ok troopers rise and shine!- crackled the Sergeants voice over the com as he stood over the squad. -Its 0430 pack it up and get on your feet we’re moving out. Including you Private Booker.-
Booker moaned, Waking up is the hardest part… he though as he pulled himself to his feet and dusted off his body armor. Looking towards the city, now darkened and ominous, he began marching.
-Ok stick close to the tanks, we are moving in towards the center, to take control of power, water, etc.-
-But sarge, what about the Unionists?- Inquired Booker, -we just gonna walk past them?-
-That’s the plan Book, to much possibility of civvies in the way, from what I hear we doing the clean up tonight so I hope y’all got your rest cause its gonna be a long day- barked the Sergent.
Sticking close the growling Vanguard tank the city grew ever larger, and even in the paling moonlight its glassy windows reflected back like so many eyes. A collective shudder went through the ranks, they never expected to be fighting within their own country, and this changed the rules. Normally the city would have been hit with enough explosives to level a large hill before they ever considered entering, but damaging Corporate property is to be kept to a minimal, be in structural or human resource form.
Lost in thought Booker barely noticed them entering the city, his squad along with two others hanging close to their only real source of cover in the barren wind swept streets. Light was beginning to seep into the city; the orange glow gave the whole picture a surreal look, adding to the anxiety of the troops.
Suddenly, a window on the left side shattered, and gunfire began resounding down towards them. Shots ricocheting off the tank as the men dove behind. The tank began to move, and surprisingly quickly pointed its main barrel at the source of the enemy fire.
FWOOM!…WUMP!
As the tank fired and the shell detonated inside the structure, the gunfire ceased.
-Don’t get cocky gents, we still got a long way to go and there are plenty more insurgents where those came from.- mused the Sergeant on the com.
Sarge was right thought Booker, it is gonna be a long day.

"Commander, we're losing positions all over the city - we've lost contact with the western suburbs, and by the rate of loss of communications, they'll be all over the city by the end of the day. I suggest we pull back to the secondary line along this stretch."
"Very well, order all units back to the second line - we won't be suprised again. Get the anti-tank stuff out."
The Unionists move back towards the second line, preparing for the face off.

-We’re here- grunted the sergeant gesturing to the bleak blackened steel of the surrounding buildings.
-What? That’s it?- inquired Booker over the com.
-Yup, you complaining Booker?-
-N-no sir, just seems suspicious, that’s all- he really wasn’t complaining, not getting shot at was a good thing but, he thought, All the insurgents just melting away can’t be a good sign either.
-I’m spooked about it too kid, but that’s not for us to worry about- stated the sergeant, seemingly reading Booker’s mind, -If there is no more insurgents in these parts we are to call in another division to sweep it and we are to move on, so pack up your gear, no hunting expedition tonight for us.-
Waiting only long enough for the “clean up crew” to arrive the corps and the armor moved out from the center of the city ever westward. Walking in the building’s glow, their electric luminescence, Booker practically jumped out of his armor when it all went dead.
-Its ok ladies that’s just the division starting the sweep, switch to N.V. and keep going, I know none of you are afraid of the dark.- the sergeant said, chuckling at his own joke.
Rounding one last bend the open lands and their misshapen rocks greeted them, its gray glow glistening in their low light goggles.
-Time to meet with the APCs a kilo out, so put on your walking shoes just a bit fur…-
The sergeant’s voice cut out as a flash of light beaconed from a rock. Cries began to fill the com, but as soon as the started they cut out.
-Ambush!- screamed Booker as he hit the dirt. –Those insurgents set this up!-
-No sh*t! Where are those tanks- someone cursed back as more flashes of light danced from behind rocks and crudely made barricades.
His answer came in the form of the growling behemoths appearing from the city lines. Leveling their 150mm guns the first volley fired, blasting hiding places into shrapnel and dust. That first echoing volley was soon mixed with the 35mm guns rattling away.
Streaming out from the insurgents lines came anti tank rounds, striking and exploding upon the Vanguards. Several near Booker grinded to a halt and the hits struck in treads or penetrated.

The tank shells ripped through the rocks obliterating the men behind. Most of the Unionists were suprised by this attack, but a few were still funcitonal, and raised the few Anti-tank weapons they had, and fired towards the tanks, aiming for the muzzle flashes. As the enemy moved forwards the unionists gathered their wits and began to fire back, hoping to wipe out this group of infantry and armour.
The night was lit up with the flashes of gunfire and explosions, and attracted even more Unionists, they not being used to this kind of warfare left their positions, in order to join in the firefight.

Both sides traded rounds, dropping men on both sides. The lowlight vision helped greatly in accuracy for the Corporate forces, allowing them to often see the Unionists before they fired their weapons. Tanks still blasted away, their shells piercing the night shattering rock and flesh.
Still lying prone Booker emptied round and round towards the enemy, as far as he could tell everyone else was doing the same. The Unionists still danced back and forth between rocks, trenches, and crude bunkers, but these were slowly disappearing and the Vanguards fired and fumed.
Remembering the missiles Booker calls out over the com, -Couple people from each squad call down those missile-, as he set his infrared laser upon an annoying nest of activity. Waiting in the chaotic battlefield a new sound greeted his ears, the groaning roar of heavy rockets.
SCREECH…FWOOOM!
As the missile found its way into the nest spewing dirt and chunks of flesh every which way, and he knew more missiles were on the way.

The Unionists hear the screech, and all wondered what it was - none of them had heard a missile before. Then they began to hit, explosions ripped throughout the Unionists, wiping them out. Only a few were remaining.

Those few Unionists that remained threw up their hands as they dropped their weapons. Quickly rounding them up Booker heard someone declare to them;
"Ok you scum, this is how things are gonna work, who here is willing to talk,"
Not one of those present raised their hands.
"Fine, the hard way then," said the man as he leveled his rifle and mowed down five of the fifty or so men.
"Anyone want to talk now?"
The hands went up, I love effeciency thought Booker.
"Good," barked the man, a major from what Booker could tell, "then be ready to answer our questions or there will less and less of ya!"
Once again leveling his gun they began marching back for interrigation, where the lucky ones will be those whom die.

The entire Unionist defenses fell. With the loss of their first city, and the men defending it, the rest of the Unionist forces dropped their weapons and fled back to their homes, hoping the storm would just pass right over them. The majority of the remaining forces was composed almost entirely of the officers of the army, as they could hide that well.
The Unionists were defeated, and the West Australian forces could sweep in and take it.

**A few hours later (from victory at Miko Industrial A-7)**
The screams died, Good, now we shall have answers, thought Mikial.
The heavy metal doors opened, the sound of ragged breaths could be heard from within. Ignoring it Mikial turned to face the man whom had just entered.
“Report!”
“Milord, the insurgent says that the force we shattered was the majority of their forces, they had hopped to deter us and thereby holding us off from their under guarded holdings.” The inquisitor replied.
“Good, so the rebels are all but beat, for today…send word to that corps still near the city to send back the armor but continue sweeping. I want as many of those insurgents dead as possible before we let them slink back into their holes.” Ordered Mikial.
Bowing stiffly the inquisitor replied, “Very good sir.”
Now with the Unionists beaten and the fleet but a day’s way of being prepared all eyes turned towards Malaysia.

Admiral Trey Hoshall stood at the bridge of the super carrier Dol Falas. Looking out the windows the port was filled with activity. Missiles and fuel were being loaded, the deck scrubbed and cleaned, people crawling on and off the vessel.
“How much longer till the fleet is ready to set sail?” inquired Hoshall.
“We will be ready to leave port within the hour sir,” responded the young ensign.
“Good,” he said, “otherwise we may not make it to Malaysia before this storm sets in.”
Not that a storm was any real problem to the fleet, Hoshall just didn’t like the feeling of setting of with things starting poorly. But that was no matter, they would be out with plenty of time to spar, he reassured himself. Sighing slightly he let his glaze once again rest upon the blue rolling horizon.
Before he knew it everything was set, the ships loaded, and landing craft prepared, all that was left was for him so say,
“Mikosolf Expeditionary Fleet Beta, full speed for Malaysia.”

As the fleet pulled through the narrow track of sea between the parts of Indonesia orders from Fleet Admiral came to Admiral Trey Hoshall. Stepping into his small quarters adjacent to the bridge he turns on his view screen stating,
“Hello Fleet Admiral Gale Boven, to what do I owe this pleasure.”
“Pleasure, hardly Trey, I’m just here to tell you what to do,” grunted the Fleet Admiral.
It was a well-known fact that Boven missed his sea legs, but when you’re ordered up, you’re ordered up.
“Ok then sir, where are our objectives.” Inquired Trey.
A small map pulled up along side the image of the Fleet Admiral, “As the Malaysia’s do not expect our movement, as they still thing we are entangled with a brutal struggle within East Australia, heh, the only fortified position is within the docks of their capital. You are to strike at Miri, having the first shells and missiles fall only ten minutes before the first craft land. We want them with their pants down.
Once we have a foot hold get send up the air superiority and finish capturing the city, and lets please keep damage limited, we will be needing it for more troops and supplies.” He said with a wry chuckle.
“From there march on the capital and overthrow the regimen.”
“My dear Fleet Admiral, you make it seem like a walk in the park,” smiled Trey.
“Hardly, even if we do capture the government, the people and the army will not be won so quickly. It will most likely turn into a full fledge ground war against the Malaysian forces meaning long, costly, and crippling to the economy of Malaysia.”
“Then what do you subject we do Fleet Admiral?”
Boven smiled, “That’s something we are still working on, but the invasion is to happen on schedule. Some of the bigwigs in S.P. are looking at shock and awe,” chuckling he stops.
“Aye, aye sir, I’ll see what we can do on our end, Admiral Trey out,” he said with a salute.
Walking back onto the bridge he says to the helmsman, set a course for Miri.”
“Aye, aye, Admiral.” Nodded the ensign.
**Later, off the coast city of Miri**
The boats were launched, the counter clicked away till they would be within ten minutes of landing. The fleet was still in international waters, about ten miles out, all guns and batteries were prepared, only the moment was left.

Guns fired from the nearby battleships, their twenty-inch guns blasting. Missiles from all ships began screaming off towards the land, their targets locked. This barrage was to last seven minutes, giving a three minute safety gap for the fifteen thousand landing troops heading towards the port.
**At the Port City of Miri**
It was close; 1st Lieutenant Chuck Lasota could smell the burning wood in the air. Turning towards his platoon, the forty men squished inside the small metal boat, he calls out over the com, -Check your safeties, we are hitting dirt in four!-
The sound of rustling metal, cloth, and ceramics greeted his ears as his men turned and click off the safety catch on their weapons. Turning back to the small slit that allowed him to look in front of the boat he say the piers and the small rocky beach nearing.
-Ok men, landfall!- he cried as the metal door dropped down. The men surged forth, streaming onto the beach like so many gray ants. Lasota smiled, there was not meeting gunfire, the guard that was in this city was still gathering its men together. Walk in the park he thought.
-Ok clear those boats, set a perimeter, we are securing the LZ!-
A general cheer came from the platoon, this is what they trained for, this is what they wanted, and he was glad they were gonna get it.

“The city of Miri has been captured, we took their National Guard base before all the volunteers even showed up. No casualties in our division sir. We are preparing to take the capital once the tanks land.”
“Thank you Lieutenant General Dietze, inform me if anything else happens, Admiral Hoshall out.”
Turning to look at the large map on the forward screen the city of Miri turned from a contested yellow to a solid blue. We have our foot hold, he thought, looking at the report the vessels with the tanks and more infantry would be arriving at the city within the hour, their escorts would peel off once they reached the fleet.

The city was remarkably intact. The only damage was from the barrage, pointless barrage at that thought 1st Lieutenant Chuck Lasota, wasn’t like there was anything to hit, but it did clear the civvies out of the streets.

President Tae Chong of Malaysia was worried. The city of Miri had been captured!! This was bad..bad..What had he done to offend The Australians? They were a usually polite, un-imperialisic people, why were they attacking him? It was not like he had helped the East Australian rebels?? "Mundara!! Mundara!! Get in here!!" The president's voice filled the area.
Commanding General Mundara Khan slowl walked in. He knew what a hornet's nest the presidential office was at the moment. He came in with his head bowed in an expression of humility and selflessness. He was afrad of what the president would do. The president, having a reputation for being that type of man. It was a scary prospect.
"Mundara!! Why are they attacking us?"
"Well, sir, you told us to help the East Australian rebels...."
"I never did such a thing!!"
"Actually sir, you did. But do not panic. I was ready. There is a force of 11,000 soldiers on 22 landing craft with 17 destroyers in the nearby town of Bintulu. They cann attack."
"Good."

"I'm sorry, but the maps we have been using apparently didn't show the small nation of Brunei, and we just assumed that the pink was city boarde..."
"Just shut up, what’s are current situation like?" barked Trey.
The ensign took a slow breath before continuing, "We are on the wrong island, intelligence says to secure the point closest to the capital's mainland and escort transports from there. Untill then we have to deal with the Malaysian forces on this part of the country, as well as a good chunk of their sea forces."
"Why don't we just pull back now?" Trey asked as he leaned back slowly in his chair.
"Ground forces fear that to many transports would be lost in an engagement with the Malaysian naval forces, so until they are neutralized our ground troops are staying on solid land."
"Fine," getting on the fleet com he says, "We have had a minor hitch, but it will soon be corrected. But for the time being we are at alert status two, that is all."

The bombers approached with nary a whisper to the ears of the sleeping civilians below. The only thing that noticed these planes on their flight where the few SAM sites that all cities have within the Corporation.
However, Darwin was an old city, and its out put profit wise had always been shaky, so their SAM sites where fewer and older as well. But despite that a few, placed just high enough atop the buildings tracked and targeted the incoming bombers, sending ten red flares streaming into the night.
But this response was to late, bombs were falling, and the people of Darwin were in for a rude surprise.
Est: 7,000 civilians killed in misfires and secondary explosions/fires
Est: 684 million USD in damages (homes/services/production)
Minutes later, in Miko Defense Outpost-27 (just five miles west of Darwin)
“What do you mean we didn’t detect them?!”
“Sorry sir, but as you know we have some older equipment so the bombers looked more like birds. However, some of the SAM sites disagreed and reported launching missiles, so we are now tracking them, and they are only a few minutes out from the city.” The young officer replied.
“Ok, fine, send some men to help deal with fires and launch our ten QRAAC-s.” the Colonel ordered.
“Sir!”
Five stories above, from small dirt covered hangers rolled out ten odd vehicles, looking likes planes, but with no cockpit, furthermore, they where strapped onto what seemed to be steel girders. As all ten reached the open dirt air strip a voice came over a loud speaker, “Stand clear of QRAAC burning in 5…”
As he reached one the planes where chucked into the air by the girders as their engines roared to like, they were airborne. Rising quickly to 5,000 feet then raised their radar searching for the bombers, finding them they lock on and begin igniting afterburners to get within firing range.
Closer and closer, till with an unheard signal the planes all launched their first volley of AA missiles at the escaping bombers.

They are taking to long, the enemy forces should at least be on the horizon by now, thoughts Chuck. Sitting low in a quickly dug foxhole his back only a few meters from the city should they need to fall back.
Checking his rifle once more in the dying light he says to his platoon, -when that sun sinks switch to lowlight.- The lights on his HUD all blinked in acknowledgement.
Suddenly from behind the artillery roared to life, blasting shells up to 250mm. Hunkering down he knew it was only a matter of minutes before the engagement, he hoped the tanks were ready in their positions to the south.

This was too many, and the Malaysian commander knew it. Seven planes so far, with at least twenty hurt. There was one thing to do. He immediatly flew straight down. Into Taldaan's territory.

The troops were hit by the first volley.

Just then, the remainder of the artillary and soldiers opened fire on their enemies. They wated revenge.

Near Darwin, Australia
---------------------------------------------------------
The QRAACs broke off as their target sunk to ground level. Heading back to base to refuel, rearm, and be re-prepped for combat launch.

Just our side of Miri, Malaysia
---------------------------------------------------------
The ground around Chuck erupted in smoky explosions and flying dirt. His visor darkening briefly as a round exploded but meters from his hole. Turning his eyes back to the horizon flashes dot the horizon, the shapes that held the weapons an eerie gray.
Calling over the deafening noise, -Aim for the muzzle flash!-
As he himself took aim, leveling his battle rifle at the closet target he let loose a controlled three round burst, watching with some pride as his target fell. Where are those tanks! he thought, screaming in his head. Firing more randomly now, at that flash, at this flash, back and forth his barrel jumped.
Looking once more to the south he whooped over the com, -Keep firing boys, the cavalry showed up.-
Coming towards the Malaysians right flank rolled five hundred Vanguard tanks, and dancing in-between numerous more Lighting pack-tanks. Then the Vanguards’ monstrous 150mm guns fired, first in controlled vollies, but quickly breaking down to as fast as their loaders could go.
Their roaring blast was barely heard over the pounding of artillery from both sides.
One artillery piece (misfire)
236 dead
394 casualties
OOC:Should we get Taldaan involved, since my planes landed there?

They had arrived at last. The tanks from Kota Kinabalum. At last. 3,000 bright new tanks, gleaming like they had been polished yesterday. They had just endured a long, weary, march through Brunei, an ally of Malaysia. They had faced rain and heat, towns and cities. They were here now and opened fire. Hell was released on the other side of Miri.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
First side of Miri, Malaysia
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now the calsualties were much larger. Over 500 soldiers were casualties now, soldiers Malaysia could ill afford to lose. The troops fired another ound and another.
"What should we do?" asked one captain.
The general grinned. "Tanks without infantry support are useless. It happened in WWI and it will happen here. Attack!!"
One of the two groups of 5,000 moved in. The tanks would be captured, sooner or later.

((OOC: Not really bothering with it, they automated fighters just let you land. Artillery still within Miri, and tanks are not the best things in urban fights...Just to note the Lightning’s are in a sense armored cars, but with tracks. And the numbers I first posted is too high (for deployed, more like 1,000 Vanguards and 4. Lightnings.))
----------------------------------
West of Miri
----------------------------------
As the Malaysian infantry surged into the tank lines the Lightning pack tanks began opening with their 75mm cannons firing canister rounds into the infantry (basically the tank version of a shotgun) nimbly dancing back and forth between the goliath Vanguards.
Even the Vanguards cut open swaths with their 35mm secondary guns, through the infantry.
----------------------------------
Within Miri
----------------------------------
The remaining Vanguards and Lightning tanks move to engage the Malaysian tanks within the dense city. The Lightnings moving in three tank packs ready their thermite/napalm rounds, a chemical substance that can turn almost any tank into molten slag, or at least weakening the armor so their rounds can puncture.
The slower Vanguards move with caution using IR and real-time overhead to S&D those tanks the Lightnings miss or fail to destroy.
OOC:This is my last post today. Gotta go.

There were several different types of tanks here. any were light(like the Australian Lightenings) and a few were heavy. All opened fire. Only 90 had been destroyed. Only?

West of Miri, Malaysia

About 400 Malaysians had been killed so far in the attack on the tanks. And how many tanks?

West of Miri
Tanks:
-11 Vanguards (immobilized)
-Lightnings tossed all those whom mounted it
OOC:I'm saying that I have several different types of tanks fighting. Only 90 of them have been killed.
The small group of soldiers cultched their rifles tight. This aeroplane had just ditched onto Taldaani territory, and the Government were having kittens.
