In light of the recent threats from Mississippi and others, Parliament have approved (239-69) Bill D-12, a bill that is designed to help national defence.
Among its provisions are:
-The Defence Budget now stands at $1.9 trillion.
-East Canadian Armed Forces will be increased to 20 million men in peacetime.
-Funding for the creation and construction of a 900 ship navy
-Funding to further develop East Canada's defence industry
-The overhaul and moderinsation of the East Canadian early warning radar system.
Prime Minister Graves has called the bill a triumph, and "a signal to Mississippi that we will not be stepped on."
