Tanian Forces Mobilize, Invasion of Mexican Provinces (EarthII)
President Christos had called an emergency session of his cabinet, to discuss a new plan proposed by the President. Once all the cabinet members were in their seats, Christos entered. He dropped a several papers infront of each cabinet member. Walking to the front of the room he began speaking.
"Glad you all could make it today. I have some very important news to announce. Our military is mobilizing for an invasion of several Mexican provinces. Now, some of you may be wondering why would I invade Mexico? Simple, Mexico has potential to providing us with workers, who will accept low pay, and land where we can build our factories. Not to mention the 95% of the population is Christian. I'd say in a month we'd have the entire nation cleansed without non-believers."
Minister of Foreign Relations spoke first.
"And what will we tell the world? You cannot think they'll just watch as we take several Mexican provinces, and let us get away with it."
"We'll say it's a humanitarian mission, and the divisions are protection for our interests in the nation."
Minister of Defense spoke next.
"Sir, Mexico is not another weak nation. They have warships, helicopters, aircraft. How do you plan to make this initial attack successful?"
The President took a moment to think before he spoke.
"We have nearly a dozen Seawolf Submarines shadowing large Mexican naval vessels, and formations. With the use of the aircraft on the two Naval battle Groups we'll be sending, the Navy won't know what hit them. After the naval battle is won, we'll use attack aircraft to destroy Mexican Airbases, and facilities. Then we'll land a Marine Division from the 11th Naval Invasion Fleet. Of course this will all take from 1 week to 2 weeks before we'll all be ready... Anything else? Good. You all are now being handed your orders. I want this done as quickly as possible. Good Day."
The guards standing by handed the cabinet members their files, and followed them outside to their cars.
OOC:Not good with naval battles so I'll just post the losses and such.

Waters Outside Veracruz
Lietutenant Christopher Crimshaw's Company was the first Tanian combat unit to land of Mexican soil. Using CH-46 helicopters his unit landed just outside of Veracruz city. The beach was littered with shells, and bombs. Prior naval and ariel bombardment made sure that anyone that was guarding this beach was either long gone, or dead. He esablished the a monetary Headquarters by the beach in an old house. The battalion size assualt of Veracruz city would begin in 48 hours.
Veracruz City
Commander Felix Hernandez commanded a group of nearly 15,000. Of which 5,000 were regulars while the remaining where militia from the city. He had heard of the landing of enemy soldiers on the beaches, but he had no approximate amount of how many soldiers their were. Due to this he had to spread his forces evenly around the city, this would be the only way to ensure the enemy didn't manage to slip through his lines.
Felix managed to scrape together a sizable artillery support segment, with 4 105mm, and 2 155mm howitzers, not including nearly 2 dozen mortars given out to the soldiers. He had command of over 8 SAM sites, and double that amount of AA. With LAWs, mines, IEDs, and machine guns he would make the Battle For Veracruz bloody.
Jungles of Campeche
Under command of Captain Jacob Klein a SpecOps group of 16 Crusader Operatives managed to sneak into the generally unprotective skies above Campeche. The dense jungles, rabid diseases, and seemingly unwavering rains, they thought, would deter any sort of attack. However, now Klein's unit walked deeper into the jungle, their goal; The provincal capital of Campeche. Approaching from the rear they should be able to sneak in, and infiltrate the city, providing intelligence and information about the garrison inside the city.
Tanuio; Camp Nazereth
The 15th Tank Corp, and the 3rd Mechanized Infantry Corp scrambled for deployment into Mexico. Once the proper airfields, and cities were taken the forces would move in via air transport, and naval vessels to eradicate any remaining resistance. Within 1 week's time they would be off for Mexico.
(2 Tank Divisions, 1 Infantry Division, and 2 Mechanized Infantry Divisions per tank corp, 3 Mechanized Infantry Division, and 2 Infantry Divisions per Mech Inf. Corp)
Oaxaca City
The Mexican Generals had gathered to Oaxaca City, the capital of the Province of Oaxaca. There they hoped to plan a defense, and maintain the order of battle. A rush draft strengthed the ranks of the Mexican defenders.

Veracruz City
The Entire 5th Battalion of the 6th Marine Expeditionary Unit was now on the beaches outside Veracruz. Under command of Colonel Issac Hortineno the men prepared for the assualt.
Spearheading the attack was the 1st MEU Company, and the 2nd MEU Company. Under command of Captain Zack Ezenkial they walked towards the main road to the city. Air support was limited due to operations elsewhere, all they had was 5 Mi-24 Hind helicopters for support.
The spread out companies were within in 1000 meters of the city now. Only 200 meters left of jungle before they'd be exposed to enemy fire, a 800 meter killzone. Sprinting out of the jungle the spread out the companies attempted to run for the protection of the scattered trees 700 meters away. Immediately the first men out died. A immense amount of machine gun fire, and rifle fire poured down into the men. Dozens fell almost immediately.
The skill of the soldiers came into play as they manuevered and fired. Still many fell as the first elements attempted to run towards a ditch. Once there Captain Ezenkial grabbed his radio at his side.
"This is Captain Ezenkial, commander of 1st Company. We are under heavy fire and request support. Casualties in hundred range."
The final man jumped down into the ditch, firing his AN-94 as he did so. Finally a reply came through the radio.
"Confirmed 1st Company. No air support is avaliable, 155's and some MRLS are positioning. Awaiting location code."
"Location code is EckoEcko59Charlie1, repeat EckoEcko59Charlie, fire for effect."
"Confirmed. 7th Company is moving in to your position to reinforce line. ETA for arrival is 2.5 hours. Out."
The Captain checked his watch, and marked off the time. He informed the Sergeants, that they were going to be sitting here for awhile and to just sit tight, and wait until further assistance comes.
Inside Veracruz City
The attack couldn't of gone better, Commander Hernandez thought. Obviously the Tanians thought Veracruz was illy guarded, their attack was stopped dead in it's tracks. Now he had the enemy unit pinned by a ditch, and the attack North of the City by Commander Ghiarfaz and his 400 man unit, diverted resources from Veracruz to the Northern area. He now assembled a large 2,600 Regular attack force. One which will out-flank, and eradicate the trapped Tanian unit, then head for Veracruz beach.
The first sounds of artillery came through mid-day. The friendly artillery lasted 30 minutes, which devasted the entire front homes in the city. But soon after heavy enemy fire came bursting through. Though no shells have yet hit the ditch itself, several have gone within 15 meters of the ditch. The Captain knew that soon the artillery would be homed in on their position. The reinforcements would arrive in only 30 minutes, but by then it might be too late. Unwillingly he orders the advance.
At first no shots were fired from the enemy, most likely they didn't expect this audacious move to charge straight into a prepared defense. However soon enough bullets began raining down on the soliders. This time less effective than before. The previous bombardment obviously did some damage to the enemies defenses. The Captain's men returned fire with their rifles fired from the hips.
Finally the Captain reached the outside wall of a home. He is the first to reach the wall, but is quickly joined by the a squad of men. The others bunch up against other homes. Tossing several grenades into the streets the Captain peers around the corner. Seeing noone he moves in. He then communicated to HQ about his progress, and prepared a simple defense. His men sat tight awaiting for additional companies to strengthen the ranks.
Command Center Veracruz City
Commander Felix was greatly annoyed. His force of 500 men guarding the main entrance to the city had withdrawn their positions, letting the Tanians to occupy a small piece of Veracruz. Re-directing the 2,600 man unit, he ordered them to attack the positions of the Tanians in Vera Cruz.

IC: Message to Tanuio:
To: The President of Tanuio
From: President Du Bin Yang, Western China
-Encrypted-
We have watched your actions for the past few weeks, and have decided now to act. We have need of a small outpost in the area of your operations, and we would be willing to discuss the aquasition of some land in Mexico. We would like to remind you that although you have been defeating the Mexicans quite effortlessly, We are much larger and have a learge military force that is ready to strike at any given time. We are preparing to mobilize our Grand Amphibous attack fleet, and would hate to see your great military destroyed.
All we ask is for a small section of land in Latin America that you have our forces near. Upon discussion we may decide to go for a piece of land further away from you, and i am sure you would prefer that, the more help you can offer us the more we can help you.
Thankyou greatly,
Signed: Du Yang
Mr.Yang, President of Western China and Hotdogs2.
"Mr.President, a message from the nation of Hotdogs2."
The messanger hands the President a piece of paper. After reading it he rips it. He grabs more paper and quickly writes a short message. Handing it to the messanger he says.
"Also alert all military, call up reserves and send all overseas fleets to Mexico, or here. That is all."
The messanger walks to the communications office and types what the President wrote.
Reply From President Christos
Some land can be arranged, for a price. We are willing to give you lands north of the Pueblo Viejo in the Veracruz province, and only the Veracruz province. The total price for purchasing comes to 110 Billion USD. Do you agree?
OOC:That would be a sort of Guantanimo Bay Outpost.

Channel 12 War Report
Today the 1st Brigade of the 6th Marine Expeditionary Unit crushed defenders at Veracruz city, receiving 35 KIA, and 110 WIA. The heavy bombardment prior to the land battle proved decisive, destroying defenses and communication stations. In addition to capturing Veracruz City, the Marines now also occupy Paso De Ovejas, Boca Del Rio, Cardel, and Soled Ad De Doblado.
The entire Marine Division is now in Mexico, and we plan to bolster the force of 20,000 men to 100,000 within 2 weeks. Two more fleets (identical to the ones I posted earlier) have been called up to Mexico. Daily air raids, and artillery barrages are now brining the defenders to their knees.
OOC:Note that this new report is bias, though most of the information is true the Meixcans are no way surrendering yet.
Campeche City
Night was falling, and the perfect oppurtunity arose for the Crusader SpecOps to infiltrate the City. Approaching from the rear of the city, they use trees, and large rocks for cover. Using their NightVision goggles they accurately pin-pointed the location of the Mexican soldiers. Using their silenced AN-94M rifles they took out a 5 man section of guards. In a crouched position they approach a house. Making sure noone was around they slid by the first wall, their backs to the wall. The first layer of defenses have been infiltrated, Campeche City was now under observation.
Outside the Waters of Tamaulipas
The TSS Success, and the TSS Glory began bringing up all avaliable helicopters for the planned attack on the province of Tamaulipas. The Meduim size naval fleet had onboard a full brigade of soldiers from the 7th MEU, the other two brigades were in two other Amphibious Fleets, preparing for attacks on Campeche, and Tabasco.
The TSS Horan (CV) began aircraft operations in Tamaulipas several days before, taking out defenses inland and along the beaches to make the helicopter landing easier. The first wave of helicopters loaded up with a full brigade, the second and third wave would carry another combined battalion. Within 2 days time the entire battalion would be in Tamaulipas.
OOC:Note invasion hasn't happened yet.
Veracruz Province
The entire Province of Veracruz was soon to be taken. Other than the combat for Veracruz city enemy resistance was low. The leading battalion heading West reported almost no enemy contact, that battalion now awaits further support to move into the Oaxaca Province.
The Leading Battalion heading North has almost defeated the last remaining pocket of resistance, an estimated 2,500 enemy soldiers face a Battalion of Marines in Panuco. Heavy air strikes and attacks have killed hundreds of enemy soldiers. The marines report progress is being made.
The Leading Battalion heading south has reported meduim enemy resistance at Isla, and Catemac. The South Brigade plans to reinforce the leading battalion with an additional two battalions, one of armour. An estimated 4,000 are fighting the marines with 5,000 to 6,000 more planning an attack at Soteapan. Heavy artillery strikes at both Isla and Catemac have greatly decreased the efficiency of the enemy unit. Air power has been battering Soteapan and nearby cities for days, dropping tons of bombs, number of dead is unknown.
The first elements of the 3rd Mech. Inf. Corp arrived at Veracruz beach. A battalion size force landed on the beach, and prepared a HQ, and communications station for the arriving divisions. A engineer battalion from the 15th Tank Corp is expected to arrive within 3 days to do the same.

Oaxaca/Veracruz Border
The 5th Battalion, and 2nd Battalion moved into the Oaxacan Border. After having continuous victories time and time again over the Mexicans defeat seemed impossible. But unknown to the soldiers was that deep in the jungles of Oaxaca a massive Mexican Force was being scrambled. Nearly 200,000 Mixed Regulars and Militia were organized in a massive mob. Armed with AK-47's, Machine guns, or sometimes just a pistol this mob lay deep in the jungles, waiting for the perfect oppurtunity to spring it's trap.
10 Miles behind the Oxacan Border the leading element of the 5th Battalion, 3rd Company, was taking a short break after a long walk through the humid jungle. Captain Zack Capogna stood watch as his company took their break. Corporal Fred Diviney approaches the Captain.
"Sir, how much longer 'till we're relieved? We've been walking damn near all day."
"When HQ tells us we will. Listen son, I don't know. Just keep sharp, and be on your toes."
"What for? There's not a single Mexican for twen-"
A bullet rips through the Corporals throat, and the Captain ducks. Speratic gunfire rips through the jungle. Grenades begin pouring down on them. The Captain crawls to his men to see 1st Squad down 4 men. He yells to the Sergeant.
"Get the 1st and 3rd Platoon over here quick."
He nods and quickly calls in the rest of the Company, who's only a half a mile away.
The Captain tosses a grenade, and sprays a full magazine blindly. Both first and second squad were down half of there men, 3rd squad had lost 2. As bullets continued to rip into the ranks of men, the platoon arrived. Guns blazing they provided cover fire for the Captain and the rest of 2nd Platoon to fall back.
Regaining control the Captain's company returns fire, this time they were answered with howitzer fire. The heavy shells fell accurately on their ranks, 13 more men were incapable of fighting. Suddenly out of nowhere a massive charge of men came surging through the Captain's left flank. Armed with pistols and machetes these men first spent their magazine before chopping their way through the company.
The Captain mowed down nearly a dozen men with his AN-94, his Machine Gunners took out the entire first line of what was most likely around 40 to 50 men. The surge of men never stopped however, no matter how many they were able to mow down. In addition to this attack the immense gunfire from the front continued. Before the Captain knew it he had lost half of his men.
Spending his last magazine for the AN-94 on the Kamikazis he draws out his P226 Pistol. He shoots the first man he sees in the head, and does so to another man. However, all his efforts seem to do nothing. The onslaught continues and before he realizes what has happened he's fighting in hand to hand combat with several men armed with machetes. He dodges a blow, and shoots a round into one of the men's chest, he does so to another. He falls back, ordering the rest of his men to do so. After throwing several grenades he duck behind a tree.
The Captan peeked his head out and shot the last magazine of his P226 pistol. He draws out his standard issued knife, measuring 11 inches. He thrusts his knife deep into the first person he sees, quickly turning it, and taking it out. By this time nearly all of his men had their knives drawn, some still had a little pistol ammunition left. As the Captain stabs another foe, he looks down to see a radio. Hoping it's still working he grabs it, throwing his knife at the nearest enemy who falls down dead immediately.
Falling farther back he calls in HQ.
"This is 3rd Company, Designation Charlie. Under heavy attack, require extensive air and artillery bombardment at Zulu16OhioOhio, repeat, Zulu16OhioOhio."
"Confirmed, Frogfoots enroute."
The Captain knew that they couldn't hold, he was down to 20 men, all the wounded had been killed. Seeing a RPD Machine Gun on the ground he picks it up. Loading a round in the chamber he charges foward. He downs the first entire line of enemy, bullets peppering through their skin. Yelling to his men as he did so, he ordered his men to fall back to the nearest camp, some 12 miles away. Reluctantly they went, leaving their Captain. The Captain provided cover as the men slowly fell back to the rear. Within minutes of repeated firing the RPD ran out of ammunition. The Captain swung it at the heads of several soldiers, hoping to inflict as many casualties as possible.
A dozen or so bursts of gunfire, sent the Captain down to his knees. He was still however, swinging his weapon at anyone who dared to get to close. Escape at this point was impossible. A single shot to the head ended him, as he lay sprawled out across the jungle floor.
OOC:Just to point out this was the militia, not Mexican regulars. Militia is just openning a hole for the Regulars to exploit.

"Yes sir." The Minister of Intelligence left and the message was dispatched to the Border Forces in Ynoga. They were given permission to engage, if engaged upon.

ok, here we go.
IC:
Commander Rodreguez sat in his underground bunker, meeting with the cheifs of staff for the United Mexican Defense Forces. He had pulled out maps of the area and had them placed under a glass screen. Now, as he presented to the assmebled Generals, he was drawing arrows and lines with colored markers, depicting the troop movements.
"You see here that early on in the campaign, our sea dominance was shattered by sneak attacks by nuclear submarines. Shortly after that, our defense lines at Veracruz were obliterated. As best we can tell, upwards of 13,000 troops are dead. The rest, from the scattered reports we have seen, are fighting guerilla style and trying to make it expensive for the invaders.
Oaxaca is now being endagered by advance formations from the initial Veracruz invaders. We currently have nothing substantial in place to oppose them." Roderguez sighed. "Most of our defenses have been overwhelmed or otherwise endangered. We don't have much of a choice left."
General Perez spoke up, "Besides reverting to final gureilla style terrorists attacks, what can we do."
"Not much. We can fall back and try to fortify our standing positions. We can attempt a full assault. we can attempt to flank them. Or, we can try and call in our allies."
Gurerez sighed. "Call in our allies. Lets see if they can help."
Twenty minutes later, a call went out to any potential allies of the Mexican states.
Our nation is under attack by hostile forces attempting to annex our lands. Please assist in any way possible.

Field Commander Rakela looked through the binoculars towards the advancing enemy forces. His partner for the trip was specialist Abrante, a well trained under cover soldier and an excellent sniper.
“Looks to be something like 30,000 strong.” Abrante commented.
“Yeah, gunna be some tough fighting at the city.” Rakela responded.
“What are we gunna do?”
“Let them have it.”
“Sir?”
“Let them have it to the point where they can’t lose it. Then we begin the street fighting.”
“Sir, you know how ugly that gets.:”
“Yup.”
“Any other suggestions?”
“Nope.”
“Well then.”
Rakela picked up the radio and gave a brief transmission to HQ, telling them of the situation.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Back at HQ Commander Rodreguez listened to the report and shook his head.
“Kolonel”
“Yes?”
“Take 20 of our mobile SAM batteries and deploy them within the city. Bring them in one at a time, don’t make it obvious.”
“Yes sir”
“When you’re done, I want to you to work up firing solutions for them. Mark them for a half mile short of the city entrance.
“Sir, those SAMs are for air targets.”
“We’re making them for ground targets.”
“Sir, that bridge is the only way into the city from the southern side.”
“Yes, I know. We’re going to let half their force in then blow up the bridge for them.”
“Ah.”
“You second firing solution will be a quarter mile in front of that point. We’re going to cause as much damage as we can, then pull the SAMs out.”
“What about the infantry.”
“Might as well pull them out.”
“We’re going to let a weakened enemy take the city.”
“No, we’re going to let them think they have it.”
In the city of Oxaca, the troops began their preparations for defense. They built machine gun nests, sandbagged buildings, brought up sniper nests, and prepared charges. That night, the SAMs, one very hour, began to move into various sheltered sports within the city.

OOC:Sorry been busy.
IC:
Campeche Province
The five Shrike Helicopter Carriers buzzed with activity. Marines onboard cleaned their rifles, and prepared their ammunition. Pilots checked their aircraft, making sure there were no defects in the systems. Sailors onboard brought up as many helicopters as possible from the Hangar below. This would all lead to the attack of Campeche City, a key strategic objective for the Tanian Forces.
Under Command of Colonel Krimshaw, the 2nd Battalion boarded their assigned helicopters. Slowly the propellers came to life, and off they went. Going off into 3 pairs the men were anxious for battle.
The CV Lorn launched a dozen MiG-27's to pave a clear path to the city. Heading in front of the helicopter formation they hoped to seek out any hidden SAMs or AAA.
OOC:I don't plan to land dircetly in the city. This is just for a change of scenary.

After a clear defeat in the jungles of Oaxaca the men knew that a massive mob of men were waiting for them. To counter this they began assembling every avaliable unit they could muster. The newly arrived 4th Infantry Division, and the 2/3 strengthened 10th Mechanized Infantry Divisions, support by artillery massed at the borders with a Marine Brigade. The remaining two brigades of Marines were still behind the front lines, rooting out and destroying hidden enemy positions, and camps.

The Emperor looked over the latest briefs on the situation in Mexico. It was still a foreign problem but it was hitting close to home, too close. He sent out the order to have the border defense forces beefed up and put on maximum alert. If any of the fighting or fighters made their way in Ynoga they would be the last people they all saw...

Rakela arrived back at the command post in Oaxaca City. He immediatly went to the commander of the troops stationed there.
"Commander!"
"What is it Rakela? You know, we're equal rank, you don't have to bow to me."
"Sorry Javier. Did you get the tranmissions from my recons?"
"Yeah, they don't look good do they?"
"No, not really. The more recent updates we've gotten from that area have showed nothing but increased troop numbers and movements."
"We have other recons out there?"
"Its not that hard to get two men near a camp of roughly 50,000."
"That many?"
"At last count."
"Shit."
"Yeah, thats what I was thinking. Here's the plan so far."
The two men walked over to a large lighted table with a map of the provence in clear plastic plating on it. A leftinant looked up as they approached and threw a quick salute. "Commander Rakela, Commander Nieblas, good to see you."
"At ease. What do you have for me?"
"Well, our most recent numbers have the main body of troops right here" He pointed to just outside of Oaxaca Province. "But, we're also getting some phone calls from locals about a small flight of fighter and helos coming out towards Campeche Province, not sure what they're doing though."
"Okay." Javier sighed. "I want us to evacuate our troops from this area. Bring out the wounded first. Leave a skeleton guard to manage whats left here. We want to keep up appearences."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Commander's orders were sent out through the local battle net for the soldiers. As they did, the troops began to pack up and move out. The wounded went out on the Humvees that were left, Jeeps, and whatever other car the soldiers could scrounge. A small defense force of only 300 settled into the city as rearguard for a very long night. Those that were on guard duty went to sniper posts and machine gun nests, keeping a cold lonely watch. In the darkness of ruined buildings, the SAM crews put up the passive sensor system. Within the ruins, they were undetectable as a threat to anyone.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
In Campeche Province, a few lightly armed Mexican outer defense soldiers rested against the big AA guns. The guns were covered in cameo netting and hidden within the forest. At the moment, they were cold, but they could be lighted up at almost any moment. One of the soldiers lifted a cup of coffee to his face and took a sip. As he put the cup down, a sonic boom from low altitude splattered coffee out of the mug. The soldiers immediatly began yelling. They powered up the weapons systems and scanned the area for targets. What they came up with was a flight of a dozen MiG-27s. Older models, but dangerous in dogfights. The soldiers used the computers to gain tragectories and began to open up in a hail of .50 cal fire.
OOC:Eh, I meant MiG-29s. Oh well. Btw .50 as AAA is very rarely used in Modern times. That's more 40s, and 50s.
The Section of 4 MiGs broke formation, dodging triple A fire as they did so. One MiG strafes the triple A battery, with 40 30mm rounds, the explosive shells kicking up dirt when they hit. Swerving around the Section leader, Major Christian Cardon locks onto the target. He releases two AS-12 Missiles before swerving to avoid fire. Suddenly his radio crackles with noise.
"Ugh, I've been hit... Engines damaged, guidance not responding... I'm Disengaging."
The Major sees another MiG strafe the AAA battery, the helicopters would be coming up soon.

A squad of Crusader special forces quietly slip through the provincal border. Armed with silenced AN-94's and several targetting systems their mission was to discover large concentrations of enemy soldiers, target them with lasers. Following aircraft would finish the job, but their real mission was of more importance. That was to discover the location of enemy generals, and silence them.

The rockets came streaking into encampment 4. The soldiers manning the guns never had a chance, they just exploded. Ecampment 5 went silent as machine guns fire did its work on the computer targeting system and the men manning that system. Ecampent 2 had scored a hit on one of the fighters and as it disengaged, the gunners followed the flight path and continued to spray bullets. Encampments 1 and 3 were still fully operational and firing wildly and the dodging aircraft. Encampment 3 brought its secondary cannon online and began to fire flak rounds into the sky.
---------------------------------------------------
Oaxaca Province
Commander Rakela, Neiblas, and General Vargas had chosen to stay back with the rearguard. They would help to coordinate the seeming loss of the city before the reinforcements moved in. They had all discarded the official uniforms and wore standard army fatigues. It didn't really matter, most of the troops knew who they were anyway. On of Vargas's aids came up to him.
"Sir, we have reports of AA fire from our cannons in Campeche Province."
"Losses?"
"So far, two cannons down, gunnery crews presumed dead. Three cannons still firing, one of them has a flak cannon up."
"Good, lets keep it moving."
The three remaining MiG-29s swig sagged across the air avoiding gunfire. The now present flak fire further intensified the fight. The sky darkened with the numerous amounts of exploding shells. Major Cardon called him for further reinforcements.
"This is Major Cardon calling in for further reinforcements needed at ZuluZuluOscar129, repeat ZuluZulUOscar129."
Now focused on the flak cannons the section fired continously at the position with no success. One of the fighters broke of it's strafing run, to launch a missile at a nearby AA Nest, after receiving shots on the wings. The other fighter swerves around and launches a AS-12 missile toward a AAA position, he quickly pulled up after doing so. Looking behind him he sees a group of dark dots on the horizon. The helicopters would be within the AA guns range in 5 minutes.
Jungles of Oaxaca
Captain Brian Reichert, pulled out his binoculars. He and Corporal Zack Tully decided to do a short recon of the area, as the rest of the squad hides in the foliage. The Captain had ordered his men to only move at night as to avoid detection. The Mexican Army had very few Night Vision equipment, they would have to use that to their advantage.
"What to you see sir?"
"Small base camp, prepared defenses, doesn't look like any high value targets. Mark down this position, by night fall we're going to blow that camp to hell."
The men crawled backwards, and move quietly back to camp. The Corporal staying in the rear, covering tracks they made.

The gunnery seargent of AA nest 3 was still pounding down on the buttons for the Flak shots when the rocket streaked into his control center. Miraculously, it didn't explode. That was the good news for the rest of the crew. The Seargent wasn't so lucky. The rocket had taken off the top half of his body before plowing itself into the dirt of the jungle floor.
Encampment 2 was firing wildly into the air when the Machine gun bullets came in from the air and hit a fuel pod, igniting the fuel and triggering an explosion which consumed the encampment.
Encampment 1 wa the only station left firing. As the gunner swiviled his gun back towards the fighters, his crewmate began a live feed over a comm channel. The gunner looked over. "What are you doing?"
"I'm giving the SAMs targeting data."
"Okay then, lets get them up and running."
10 miles away, two mobile SAM batteries opened up to the sky and began to acquire target locks.
The Major, and his remaining aircraft went into a straight line formation, firing off 2 missiles each to both the machine gun nest, and flak cannon. Swerving up one of the aircraft takes a direct hit on his left wing. A muffled voice was heard over the radio.
"Ah, shi...I'm hit bad...losi..ground...Im...ditchn..."
The rejection seat pops out of the aircraft, and sweeps down into the dense jungle. The Major called over the radio.
"All helo's mission is aborted, LZ is too hot. We need a rescue chopper at DakotaDakota14Fox. Aircraft down."
Ending his message the Major hears another one come through his radio.
"This is Captain Hawks, coming at you at your nine Major. All aircraft here and accounted for."
"Good to hear from ya Hawks, we have enemy resistance below, and I-"
A loud ping and red lights lightened up in the cockpit.
"Damn, I'm painted. Advising SAMs in area, suggest break formation."
"Well do sir."
The eight MiG-27's swerved out of formation, locking in their missiles for use.

Captain Reichert had his men assembled, the operation was a routine one, simple and easy. They made their way through the jungle, stopping every now and then to make sure noone was around. The clumbersome laser designators hanged off the backpacks of four soldiers, the extra three would be needed later on.

The final missiles launched from the MiGs streaked in towards encampments 1 and 3. They both rushed into the foliage and detonated, instantly eliminating the last two AA cannons. The data had been fed to the SAMs though and they had their targeting solutions. The two mobile missile launchers fired off rounds of 4 missiles each and then slowly compacted themselves for travel.

In Oaxaca Province, a small force of Mexican special forces shadowed the invading men through the forest. The Mexicans smiled at each other. The men were fairly inexperienced in moving the forest. They made a lot of noise and were moving too closly together to avoid easy detection. They were also too cautious. Even though the opposing force outnumbered them at least five to one, the Mexicans felt confidant. They knew how to vanish into the Jungle. The opposition forces did not. As they came to a small clearing, the troops stopped to take a scan of the area. One of the special forces troopers leveled his sniper rifle at the guy with the scanner and pulled the trigger.
OOC:Eh, Crusaders are my best trained Special Forces. Minimum 8 years required in service, only 200 or so in my military.

The Major now heard the irritating, high pitched ping sound that indicate a SAM was launch.
"Incoming Vampire, Incoming Vampire, coming around at my five."
"Roger Sir, eight incoming vampires, everyone take evasive manuevers."
The fighters engaged to maximum speed, 1.7 Mach. Several fighters launched off counter-measures, swaying away the missiles. However two fighets were targeted by two missiles each, one hit the wing, the other hit the engine part. In a brilliant flash the fighter exploded, sending pieces of metal to the jungle floor.
The other fighter dodged 1 Missile only to see another missle head on. Turning his fighter left the missile struck the body of the aircraft, he ejected to the canopy floor. The remaining missile struck the tail part of another aircraft, forcing the pilot to return to base.
The remaining seven aircraft turned on their Infrare Red Scanners. The two SAM's were being packed up, and moved. They would have to prevent that. Each fired 2 missiles, except for the Major he shot only 1 missile since all his others were spent. With that the Major called in.
"This is Major Caldon, request heavy bomber support to pave way for helo operation."
"Roger, Backfires inbound, return to base and re-arm."
Oaxaca
The sniper shot broke the silence of the dense jungle. Coporal Steven Nuern fell, a shot to his head. Immediately the men followed ambush procedure, lobbing a grenade each in all directions, then ducking down for cover. The high grass provided limited cover, but enough. The squad's two machine gun operators unleash hundreds of automatic rounds into the jungle, while the riflemen awaited for an enemy response to correctly identify their location.

The SAMs slowly packed down the missile launchers, and began to roll away before the locks were set. The crews worked quickly, knowing that they didn't have the time they needed to get away. Their position had been revealed and they needed to get out. As the SAMa began to roll away the 13 missiles came streaking in from the remaining fighters and impacted around. Five of the missiles overshot and blew large holes in the road ahead. Three more hit where the SAMs had been a minute ago. Just as the crews were beginning to sigh in relief from the near misses, the remaining missiles impacted within a hundred feet of the SAMs. A piece of shrapnel hit a fuel tank and the SAM went up in flames, buringing bodies flying away from the oversized truck. The other SAM was peppered by shrapnel, several large chunks flying into windows. The SAM wasn't destroyed, but the crew were hit through the windshield. They died immediatly. The SAM stalled out and stopped in the middle of the road.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
As the sniper fired, one of the men in the rough middle of the enemy's company dropped down, half of his head missing. The other troops ducked down and began lobbing gernades and firing machine gun bursts into the jungle. Three of Rakela's men went down in the spastic shots of machine gun fire. gernades were going off, but the troops were too far back in the woods for the gernades to have a real affect.
A hundred yards back in the forest, two men operating a morter got corrdinates from Rakela. They loaded their first rounds in and fired off the ballistic explosives towards the sound of gunfire.
Back in the forest, several of the snipers had taken up covered positions and were firing into the crouched soldiers. The grass didn't provide quite enough cover and the targets were plentiful. The other men in Rakela's company hid behind trees and rocks. Popping up, firing a few shots into the crowd or throwing a gernade, then running to a new piece of cover. Rakela knew if he and his men were to survive, they needed to keep moving.
OOC: The force Rakela leads is about 35 strong. They carry an assortment of M16s, AK47s, morters, gernades, one bazooka, one anti-tank rocket launcher. And all of the standard extra supplies for soldiers.
The Tu-22M's had taken off at Veracruz Airport, now a refurbished military airbase. The total of four aircraft hit maximum speed to reach their target. Armed with laser, and free fall bombs they hoped to break the backbone of the missile defenses for Campeche City, once and for all. Flying over the battle field the lead pilot calls out.
"Looks like the job is mostly done, someone just take out that SAM."
A laser guided 1,000 bomb streaked down towards the SAM. The aircraft continue on at high altitude, if no resistance was encountered on their way to Campeche, then the entire city would be bombed with everything they have.
Jungles in Oaxaca
Now more accurate sniper fire erupted. This time a rifleman got shot in his chest, falling down heavily. One of the machine gunners received a wound on is leg, immobilized. Ordering his men to "pop" smoke, a cloud of white mist covered the men while they re-positioned themselves. Now all seeked cover behind trees, directing each other's fire. Only the lone machine gunner was left in the tall grass, still firing away. Getting his radio the Captain called into Headquarters.
"Captain Reichert here, need artillery support at LimaLima61Oscar, repeat LimaLima61Oscar fire for effect."
"Confirmed, artillery support inbound at designated location."
He huddled behind his tree occasionally firing rounds, his machine guns were blaring away, while his men attempted to pick off individual soldiers. By this time the mortars were coming down. The Captain ordered his men to slowly fall back farther, keeping the mortar fire away. Under cover of each other's fire, they moved tree to tree, running as fast as they could, this was done one by one. The Captain popped his last smoke grenade to provide cover while his men fell back.
Lieutenant Hopper landed hard on the jungle floor. Being shot down wasn't a pleasant experience at all. He looked around the jungle floor, Lieutenant Loria was shot down too. He drew his USP pistol, and went north looking for the missing pilot.

The marine brigade onboard the 13th Amphibious Assualt Group prepared for the 3rd Invaison into Mexican. The waiting brigade was expected to attack Tamauplipas Province, but after delays was ordered to attack the Chiapas, giving pressure towards the soldiers in Campeche. The satelitte photos showed Chiapas to be lightly defended, the province was after all the least of importance. But now the 2nd Battalion prepared themselves for the fight ahead. A squdaron of MiG-29 fighters launched off from the CV Temptest, they are armed with heavy air to ground missiles and bombs. The attack would commence with a combined areil incursion, and naval landing.

General Corenza stepped about in the semi-ruined city of Campeche proper. He was being led through the city by one of the prefects of what was left of the thrid brigade. An earlier entanglement had left their numbers diminsihed but the survivors were holed up in the city.
Corenza surveyed the surrounding area, noting the various machine gun nests and sniper posts as well as hidden bazookas and rocket launchers. Several troops had taken the liberty of setting up roadside bombs and mortars. There was also some light armor here and there. The majority of the troops were spread through the country side on patrol and ambush parties. Several times in the night, Corenza had heard the scream of fighte jets in the distance, he had been warned they were all hostile. "Where are our jets?" he had asked.
The somber reply came from an air force pilot now on sniper duty "destroyed or in hiding for when we need them"
"oh."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Back in the Jungle, Commander Rakela was leading his troops in a steady retreat, not from losses, but on purpose. The enemy had started to advance, but Rakela had lost few troops. As far as he knew, five of his men were down and seven were injured, but the majority of his force remained mobile.
As Rakela withdrew from the area he had been hiding in, an artillery round slammed into the ground a few hundred feet away. The shrapnel flew through the jungle. The man to Rakela's right got hit in the chest by a piece of it and went down, spouting blood. The medic with Rakela nealt over him and begin patching the man. He groaned a few times and then a rattle came out of his lips. The medic looked up. "He's dead. Right through the heart."
Rakela nodded grimly, wiping the blood off of his cheek where a shrapnel shard had nicked him. "fall back to Campeche, we'll reinforce the troops there."
As Rakela's soldiers began what was known as the 'fighting rearguard', they laid down gernades with pressure on the firing trigger so they would explode if whatever was covering them was moved. They also laid down open rounds that wouldn't do much damage but would confuse the enemy when they went off.
OOC: No problem. I'm also going to be going away for a couple of days. Just to let you know.
The Backfire bombers now flew overheard Campeche. It was obvious the previous air attacks by the MiG's destroyed the anti-air net around the city. Now the city was wide open, ripe for an attack.
"Base, this is Bomber Flight Oscar, overheard Campeche, no signs of air defenses. Green light for helicopter attack. Await orders."
"Oscar, commence bombardment. Deplete all munitions and head to base. Out."
A grin came out from the Captain as he dipped down his aircraft to release a load of cluster bombs on the outskirts of the city. The four aircraft broke their formation and released a total of 4 cluster munitions, 8 1,000lb munitions, 4 2,000 bomb bombs, and 12 500lb bombs. The smoke from the city could be seen miles away.
The Helicopter attack began scrambling once again. The 5 Shrike Helicopter Ship's deck was filled with helicopters. The invasion would be escorted by 8 MiG-29 Fulcrums, providing ground support, and ensuring no enemy aircraft would interfer.

Captain Reichert now saw that the enemy soldiers were falling back. The death of 3 of his soldiers, and wounding of 2 weakened his ranks, he was unable to pursue.
"HQ, this is Reichert, we have sustained five casualties. Request immediate air support at FoxtrotFoxtrot781."
"Roger, two MiG-25's inbound with Napalm."
The Captain didn't have the exact coordinates that the enemy was heading to. He hoped that luck was on his side.
"Base, this is Reichert, request pickup at LZ X-Ray. Mission aborted."
The team headed closer to the Veracruz border, dragging their dead and wounded with them.

Overhead Campeche, the bombers dropped their payloads on the city. Explosions sounded throughout the suburbs, moving in towards the city center. As the bombers flew overhead, the hidden SAMs opened up their rocket bays and commenced firing. From each of the dozen SAMs throughout the city, 8 rockets flew out. One of the SAMs, in the middle of firing its rounds was hit by a munition, it, and the building it was hiding in, blew up. A second explosion hit near another SAM, shrapnel and chunks of concrete and morter flew into the building where the SAM was and hit the rocket pod. The rockets exploded, taking out the second SAM. The ten remaining SAMs fired off their rockets, as soon as they were done, the crews deserted the vehicles, fleeing into the sewer systems to escape the brunt of the damage from the bombers.
OOC:I'm assuming you mean 8 missiles launched per launcher
As the bombers proceeded to return to base a loud beeping sound erupted in the cockpits.
"Incoming SAMs, I have 6...no 18...... 72 incoming Vampires moving in fast. Hit max speed, take evasive manuevers."
The bombers hit Mach 2.1, attempting to outrun the old SAM missiles. The rear bomber was struck by 4 SAMs alone. The immense fireball cause nearly two dozen missiles to explode in it's fire. The remaining SAMs continued it's course. Feeling desperate the Captain called out to all bombers.
"Drop all materials that are not necesarry. I mean anything. We have to lose these things."
The little materials they had on board we dropped out of the bomb bay doors. Counter-measures were launched, deterring only about 6 SAMs. The bomber to the left of the lead bomber exploded in a brilliant flash of yellow and orange. The fireball attracted more SAM missiles. The remaining SAMs closed in on the lead bomber. Looking back the pilot sees he's not going to make it. He orders his bombadier, and co-pilot to parachute out of the aircraft. Slowing down his speed he hoped to attract enough SAMs to let the remaining bomber slip away. As he reached Mach 1.0 his aircraft explode. Immediately he ejected out of the aircraft, still receiving shrapnel wounds in his shoulder. As he slowly glides to the bottom, he hears his aircraft explode violently. The once impressive bomber was not mere burnt metal.
The surviving bomber made it to Headquarters, receiving a severly damaged wing the bomber would be inservicable for quite some time.
The helicopters took off. With a full battalion on board. The 8 MiG-29's screened their Landing Zone ahead of the helicopters. Scanning the ground with Infrare Red radar. The LZ was two miles from Campeche City. Once a brigade of Marines where in the ground the attack on the city would begin.

High up in a tower within the city, a lone soldier sat and stared out into the sunset. Around him sat the crumbling remains of Chetumal. The populace had long since abandoned the city. They had abandon it almost a month before the fighting started and now the fighting was nearly two months in. Three months without occupants and the jungle was beginning to do its work. Most of the city had been the typical mud and wattle huts with the larger concrete and steel buildings in the center. The soldier sat in a church steeple, underneath the bell. He looked out into the jungle.
Several miles out, he could see the cook fires and markings of camps for an enemy force that had to be at least four divisions strong. The soldier sat back against the wall and lit a cigarrette. Let them come, let them have the city. There was nothing there but death.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the Jungles of Oaxaca, Commander Rakela led his forces through the series of caves that ran beneath the jungle. Initally starting with 30 men and women, Rakela was now left with roughly 15. The constant bombing runs and side skirmishes with patrols had shaved his forces down to a skeleton force. They now had to use everything they knew to stay alive and hurt the enemy.
Popping up from a cave, Rakela stuck his head over a ridge and looked down. He saw the enemy camp spread out before him. A flight of MiGs shot overhead causing him to duck momentarily, but they flew away. Rakela called up Abrantes and Gurrera to his side.
"What do you think?"
"Attack force, definatly. Air support, ground cover. The only thing I don't see is armor." responded Abrantes.
"What do you think of a rocket going right. . .there?"
"Sir, that looks like a command tent."
"That's what I think it is too. Remove the head and let the body wriggle."
"We can try, but then we need to hightail it out."
"Lets do it."
Gurrera went back into the cave and returned with a smuggled LAW-88 anti-vehicle rocket launcher. Rakela gave him a puzzled look at the choice of weapon.
"Bigger explosion, more shrapnel." Gurrera shrugged.
Rakela and Abrantes nodded as Gurrera lined up his shot and pulled the trigger.

Back in Mexico City proper, the command staff of the Mexican army were working out a battle plan to try and remove the invaders from Mexico. The generals stared at a map.
"We could launch an offensive here. . "
"No, too well defended."
"What about air strikes?"
"Not effective enough."
"Navy?"
"Non-existant."
"What we do then?"
"I don't know."

In all 2 Captains nad 4 lieutenants were killed, along with the three Communications personel. The shrapnel from the blast wounded four nearby soldiers, one seriously wounded.
A nearby Sergeant dusted himself off, and looked out at the explosion. Looking around he sees a soldiers with a portable radio.
"Private, get ahold of some birds, make them scan the area for any hostiles. Move it."
The young soldiers hastily went to work. Within 5 minutes several Mi-24 helicopters were in the area, Infrare Red was on.
The helicopters kept coming in, unloading squad by squad.

In all 24,000 rounds of 30mm were fired, 12 2,000 lb bombs, and 24 500 lb bombs were dropped, including the 12 canisters of napalm dropped on the surrounding jungle. The area was in total rubble.

The 6th and 8th Navel Groups, and yes, all my aircraft. This is kinda the last ditch effort by the Mexican forces.
TNN Astria; Forest Class Carrier
"Admiral we have received word that a large air formation has just been detected by Outpost O16F4, that's nearly off the coast of Veracruz Beach."
"Air formation? Impossible, we have no air sorties in the area, and the Mexicans posses no air power."
"Sir, Corvettes along the beach have just confirmed large aircraft formation heading DeltaDelta15Oscar."
"But, that's our position..."
The Admiral didn't waste a minute. He ordered the scrambling of all avaliable fighters, long range SAMs, and CWIS were actived in all ships. Destroyers, frigates and cruisers took positions around the capital ships, forming a circle around the carriers, battleships and battlecruisers. The four carriers teemed with noise and movement. In all 96 F/A-91B fighters, one of the most advanced fighters in the Tanian arsenal, second only to the Su-52, took off. Moving at Mach 3, they closed the distance between them and the enemy aircraft quickly.
Shutting off their radar they turned to a TV screen, which allowed them to spot enemy aircraft from 60km away. With radar off it would be almost impossible to target the aircraft.

As the aircraft flew over the ocean, a faint pinging hit captain Marquez of Grey Wing, one of the leading sections of aircraft. In all, just over a hundred fighters had been roused for the action. Each of the early model MiG 30s were equipped with six missiles and 500 rounds for the repeating machine guns. The bombers had been retrofitted last minute to hold 16 missiles and three 500-lb bombs.
Marquez radioed his assembled forces. "Okay, standard formation, lets get moving. Begin the horns."
An overhead view of the Mexican forces would have revealed that the edges of the leading elements had slowed, allowing two "horns" to shape at either end of the Mexican force. Unnoticable for a plane flying straight at the forces, but it was an important maneuver.
"Okay people, radars off. machine gun line of sight only. Thee Sqaud, Eight Sqaud, escort the bombers into range at all costs."
On his mark, 5 sqauds of fighters dropped to near sea-level, a meneuver that should render the aircraft's guns and anti-air launchers useless. The remaining 8 squads continued on towards the battle group.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Back in Mexico, the opposition forces had been broken by their commanders into small squads. If the air assualt failed, they were ready to lead the independence movement against the invaders. Commander Rakela and his group of 12 men used to be thirty he thought to himself. Sat in their caves. The cleaned weapons, told jokes, prepared food, and slept. None of them knew when the next attack would come but they had to be ready to carry it out.
The lead Su-52 fighter saw a enemy aircraft formation in the distance.
"Black Wing, this is lead, enemy formation located 1 o'clock, estimated distance 50 km. Prepare to turn on radars once at 40km."
The Captain watched his instruments carefully to accurately measure the distance between him and the enemy fighters. Once they reached 40 km he called over his radio.
"Black Wing, leader, turn on radar, engage all hostiles. Break formation after volley. Out."
The immense group of 96 aircraft immediately turned on their radar. The pinging sound in their cockpits were defening. They immediately launched 2 missiles each, and broke formation. The fire and forget missiles locked onto the heat signatures on the enemy aircraft and closed in.
The large fighter formation broke loose. A full 64 planes were on stand by, as the rest of the 32 planes engaged. Being one of the most advanced fighter aircraft in the world, handling a hundred or so MiGs was a walk in the park.

The leading elements of the Marine Brigade landed several miles away from the city. The entire city was in rubble, after constant attack by the squadron of fighter/bombers. The 4th Battalion of the 3rd Brigade was nearly completed. Within the hour they would be full combat strength.
Veracruz/Oaxaca Border
The now Seven Division strong Army was growing. The plan of Command was to have 10 full strength divisions against all the Mexicans could muster. Intelligence photos from Satelittes showed much enemy activity. A defensive line was constructed consisting of three Infantry divisions, two Mechanized Divisions, and a heavy Armoured Division as a reinforcement unit. The remaining divisions took it easy, only 15 miles behind the defensive wall, they were able to respond quickly to any attack.

"Enemies in sight, pinging active!"
"Bring radar up, open exhaust ports. Prepare exhaust dump on my mark."
"32 coming in, 64 holding back. Looks like its a protective screen."
"Lock and load."
"Mother Mary, bearer of Jesus protect us. . "
"Hold steady."
"I've got six in this way, three four, roll port hold wingpairs."
"Missiles armed."
"Away fox one, away fox two."
"Balance shots out ."
"Okay people, lock and load. Fire missile screen. Come home today."
The chatter went back and forth across the Mexican comm bands. On the Commander's mark all of the escort MiGs fired two missiles at designated radar headings. The missiles would fly towards the enemies, ignore c ountermeasures and heat signals and explode when a proximity was detected.
"Now, dump exhaust, drop throttle, run up."
The Commander shouted the order and it was executed in almost perfect unison. The Mexican fighters dumped their exhaust valves open created a massive area of hot air, dropped 200 feet as their engines died, then started up again as the engines kicked in once more. The incoming missiles flew towards the fighters, diverted upwards and exploded. twenty Five of the MiGs wern't lucky enough to move fast enough and were either hitdirectly by multiple missiles or hit by shrapnel. The remaining twenty-five fighters continued on under their missile screen and towards the enemy fighters. As the range closed, the fighter brough up the chatter cannons and began to fire high-rate burst rounds of a combination flak, tracer, and .50 cal that had been made especially for the engagment.
Under the dogfight, the bombers and their fighter escort a tsea level closed in with the cruisers and began to loose off missiles.
"Vampire Vampire, Incoming Missile."
Onboard the TNN Jerinn a destroyer detected a group of missiles heading towards the fleet's position. Immediately orders were given out to arm all CWIS, and missile counter-measures. SAM's were activated, and men waited anxiously for the incoming missiles.
OOC:Could you tell me exactly how many were launched?
A swarm of missiles were launched toward the aircraft. Taking evasive they swarmed about. Hitting max speed, the aircraft still is able to turn on a dime. Releasing counter-measures the aircraft continue to evade the missiles. A dozen missiles target 1 single aircraft and it tumbled down back to earth. Several other fighters were unfortunate victims of the massive swarm.
The Proximity fuses on the missiles ignited and a large amount of fighters were damaged. In all 6 fighters were shot down, and 10 were damaged.
The damaged aircraft return to the carrier for repair. The remaining fighters hit maximum speed, being one of the fastest aircraft in the world they should have no trouble catching up to the old MiG models. By the end of the air battle an additional 68 aircraft were in the air, reports of incoming missiles drew them towards the source of the missiles.

The bombers dropped to mere feet off the surface of the water, sending up huge amounts of spray with their exhaust. The spray would eliminate the engine heat signature and hide the aircraft as they approached. With the initial slavo off, each of the bombers shifted targets to the large ships on the interior of the battle group. Each of the Twenty surviving bombers fired off another salvo of four missiles, two of the specially fitted bombers dumped torpedos into the water, sending the underwater missile towards the carriers.
(ooc: 72 missiles, 4 torpedos)
At this point, the remaining MiGs that were acting as escorts left the bombers and pulled hard straight up, joinging the firefight above. Acquiring individual targets, the MiGs let go a missile each, then switched over to cannon fire and began to let loose.
(ooc: 50 missiles)
Onboard the TNN Jerinn
"Multiple contacts, Vampires inbound."
The Commander nodded as he heard more reports. The missiles were heading straight towards their formation, guarding a Cruiser. The Captain began requesting more units to be called up which was quickly accepted. The protective net around the Cruiser should hold up.
"Fish in the Water, Fish in the water. Torpedos inbound. Total tally is 4 torpedos, and 72 inbound missiles."
"Order formation to move top speed evasive manuevers east."
The communications officer quickly ordered the other 3 destroyers, 7 frigates, and the cruiser to move to top speed.
"Launch all counter-measures. Prepare to engage missile targets."
Various sorts of counter-measures were launched in order to distract the torpedos. One torpedo hit the Jerninn causing damage to it's control system, and another hit the Cruiser Will causing minor damages, it's reinforced hull taking most of the damage.
The inbound missiles streaked towards the formation. The first counter-measures launched were decoys, which went flying into the air. Next a volley of missiles streaked the sky, and finally CWIS engaged the remaining missiles. In all 12 missiles took the decoys, 27 were downed by missiles, and 19 were destroyed by CWIS. The advanced anti-missile systems proved excellent, but the remaining missiles that got through the screen destroyed 2 frigates, damaged 1 destroyer, and renderred operations on the Cruiser Will to be cancelled until repairs were made.
The remaining vessels quickly homed in on the remaining fighters. The fighters were still in range of the Ernie SAM missiles onboard the ships. In total 180 Ernie SAM missiles were launched in rapid succession toward the enemy fighters, and bombers.
The 50 missiles launched to the formation of reserve Su-52 fighters were quickly detected. Taking evasive manuevers most were dodged, but 5 fighters where downed, and 11 more damaged. Quickly reacting to the new opposition force, each fighter launched three missiles, for a total of 192 missiles.
The original 96 Su-52 fighters had caught up to the first fighters that had attacked them. Moving at 2.5 Mach, they each launched 4 more missiles for a total of 384 missiles. With roughly 5 missiles left for each fighter they had plently to continuely torture the enemy.

The Marine battalion had finally reached Chetomal. The area was nearly completely destroyed. Minor fire-fights from civilians occured every now and then, but nothing in an organized matter. The Marine Brigade was ordered to hold the city, and establish it as a base for attack on Cancun. Two Para Divisions were expected to be flown in and transported towards the city.
24 MiG-29 Fighters from the Carrier Task Force off shore already began bombing raids. Armed with 6 missiles, 2 canister bombs, and 4 500 lb bombs the fighters were ready to inflict heavy damage to the city. Crusing at mach .9 they neared the city.

The bombers emptied out their last five missiles each (100 missiles) towards the cruiser cluster, than broke and ran for the beach. The plan was to try and get all the way back to the Mexican air base but if pursued, ditch the fighters and take cover in the jungle.
75 MiGs remained in the air, but that was soon to change. Missiles came flying in towards the two formations, one coming in high and the other low. At high altitude, the MiGs dumped extra fuel pods and launched out counter-measures to try and divert the missiles. 192 missiles treaked up towards the top sqaudrons. 12 different missiles targetd one MiG and it shattered into a fireball. 83 of the other missiles found coutnermeasures or fuel pods and detonated, filling the air with explosions, sending shrapnel up and down at both sides. 97 missiles were left and were free-flying. Twenty missiles hit max range as MiG pilots pulled high-g maneuvers to escape and exploded. four of the MiGs were hit by multiple missiles and exploded in spectacular fireballs. 57 missiles left. The remaining twnety MiGs flew their hearts out, but ten were not quite lucky. Five missiles flying into each one ended the pilot's lives. The other seven missiles found superheated wrekage more attractive targets than live fighters. The remainging 15 MiGs laucnhed their last three missiles (45 missiles) and once again equipped chain guns to fight to the last man.
The lower sqaudron was much more prepared for a fighter battle. Each of the 50 MiGs loosed off 4 homing missiles (200) and dove back to the water surface. At the last moment, they pulled out, creating huge sheets of superheated water which quickly evaporated into steam. The 192 missiles that came back at them from the opposing MiGs were momentarily confused. a full hundred of them hit the water and exploded below surface. The other 92 were able to re-acquire target locks. As with the MiGs above, the MiGs below dumped fuel pods and lossed off flares and chaff. 73 of the missiles hit the counter measures, but the proximity of the explosions to the aircraft damaged 7 of the MiGs, sending them home. The remaining 19 missiles flew true. Ten fighters went down, five hit by multiple missiles.
48 MiGs remained in the air. The bombers were flying home under cover of the air battle.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chetomal: The lone soldier watched from his tower. He had not drawn a gun and had not been bothered. In fact, he did not even have a gun. he merely watched, and waited. His contacts were set. Wether he lived or died did not matter, the plan would go through no matter what.
Onboard the wounded TNN Jerinn alarms sounded. The Radar operator yelled out.
"Vampire, Vampire. Inbound missiles. Speed 1.4 mach and increasing."
By this time other vessels had joined the Cruiser formation to pickup surviviors and assist in the air battle. Forming a new protective net around the cruiser the vessels readied their anti-missile systems.
The first set of decoys and counter-measures were launched. 15 missiles took the bait and strayed away from the formation. Next a volley of missiles, 120 in total, streaked towards the missiles. 32 more missiles destroyed. And finally the CWIS destroyed another 25. In all 28 missiles made it through the protective net. This time the damage was more severe. A destroyer was sank, and another one damaged. Two frigates were sunk, and another 2 damaged. The Cruiser received little damage. Now another cruiser formation was coming to assist them. The formation launched it's final Ernie SAM missiles, towards the fleeing bombers. A total of 88 missiles streaked towards the bombers.
Now a total of 120 Su-52 fighters were in the air. A volley of 200 missiles were launched towards the fighters who immediately responded with counter-measures, and evasive manuevers. Another 45 came towards the fighters. A total of 80 missiles stayed true to their targets, and 13 fighters went down, along with 7 more damaged. Now the new fighters launched a devastating missile attack. Each fighter launched 3 missiles for a total of 360 missiles, towards the now severly weakened enemy fighter formation.
Due to the previous missie launch from the Cruiser formation, 7 Su-52's were damaged, and 2 were shot down by the friendly fire.
24 Su-52 fighters from the reserve formation in the sky hit the after-burners, going at mach 3 towards the fleeing bombers using the air battle as cover.
Total Tally of Fighters Destroyed/Damaged Thus Far
26 Su-52 Fighters Shot Down
35 Su-52 Fighters Damaged; Returned to Carrier
Chetomal
Now two full battalions were occupying Chetomal. They established defensive positons with .50 caliber machine guns, and 20mm mobile cannons. A full 200 men guarded each side of the city for a total of 800.
Cancun
The MiG-29's dropped all of their ordinance. The once peaceful resort of Cancun was turned into a devastating mess, with high rise apartments toppling over and nearly all buildings destroyed.

After the Tanuian reinforcements arrived, its was hopeless for the Mexican forces. The MiGs dropped their last counter-measures and turned tail. Still, it wasn't enough. Of the 75 surviving MiG, 68 were hit my missiles, most of them by multiple missiles. A few tried desperate maneuvers to escape the heat seekers but there were too many missiles. One by one, the MiGs went down.
"Foxes on tail!, Can't shake them."
'I've got too many on me."
"Someone help, someone help."
"Mother Mary, forgive my sins."
"Where are the bastards!"
report after report came in as MiGs blew in gigantic fireballs. The ones lucky enough to be out in front of the crowd were able to escape the missiles cloud and jet back to the relative safety of Mexican airspace.
It was a different story for the bombers. Still flying close to the surface of the water, they still had ample cover from trailing missiles. As they flew, explosions began to sound regularly behind them, missiles hitting the superheated water. Three of the bombers slipped behind the group.
"I've got a lock on me. No, five, seven, thriteen locks! Someone look for me where are they? Gunners can't see them. Where [static]"
All three of the trailing bombers were hit by multiple missiles and exploded. The other bombers were able to reach shoreline and escape safley into Mexico proper.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The lone soldier in his tower prepared himself. roughly 800 soldiers he had identified were in Chetomal now. He could do his work. He knelt down, clasped his hands together, and began to mumble his words. "Holy mother, fogvie my sins. Cleanse my soul for the lord of our earth and grant me peace. Forgive the souls of those below, they know not what they do. Honor my family with your grace most holy. prepare my soul and grant my passage to the rapture."
He picked up a small remote and pressed the button. The retreating Mexican forces had laid the city sewer system with explosives. The whole city was wired that way with bombs at strategic collapse points to make the entire city drop in and crumble on itself. Simotaneously, the explosives lit off.
The resulting explosion destroyed any form of permament structures the soldiers had previously established. Of the 1,600 soldiers occupying the town, 400 were killed, and another 500 wounded. The ground seemed to implode on itself, included in the deaths were two Captain, a major, and 7 Lieutenants. Calls were made to the off shore carrier to begin a massive helicopter pickup operations for all the dead and wounded. The remaining survivors re-established defensive positions, though not as strong as before it'd have to do. Already the final battalion was making it's way to the city. With both battalions in the town at half strength they'd need all the reinforcements they could have.
Constant bombing runs on Cancun have renderred the entire city into a mssive heap of rubble. The once pleasant resort city was now a giant mess.

The Generals of the Mexican forces gathered around the command table in the underground bunker or Oaxaca City. They were staring at the map on the backlit table and trying to plot out ground strategy. While they were working away, a comm signal lit up and began to buzz. General Amerigo looked up and walked over to pick up the reciever. "General" came the voice over the phone. "We're getting initial results back from the air battle."
"What happened."
"Unfortunatly, most of the MiGs were wiped out. we've only gotten word of eight survivors. They were saying they accounted for at least a few dozen enemy fighters but it wasn't enough, they were outgunned, outnumbered, and outmaneuvered."
"And the bombers."
"More successful. Looks like we're getting fifteen, no, wait, seventeen back. They are all reporting empty missile racks. From the reports I'm getting, the Tanuians have a seriously damaged fleet out there."
"Well, at least that's something."
"Oh, we have more new as well General. It looks like the Chetomal trap worked. From some tapped enemy signals, I'm counting 400 dead, 500 wounded, and the rest confused and disoriented. We could attack now and wipe out the rest of the assault force there."
"I'll look into what we can pull into that sector."
Amerigo hung up the phone and walked back over to the command table. He relayed the news to the other generals and they immediatly began to pull together strategy.
"What forces do we have in the area?"
"Nothing substanital, looks like two infantry divisions, one mechanized, and an armored division."
"Well, we're dealing with a weak enemy. How far away are they?"
"About twenty klicks. They could be there in the next two hours."
"Send out the call, get them in there."
------------------------------------
The call went out to the command tents of the 35th Infantry, the 67th mechanized, and the 103rd Armored. As the calls were being completed, Seargents were running out of tents and yelling orders. Within the hour, 6,000 Mexican troops were moving towards the ruined city of Chetomal, intent on wiping out at least one part of the invading force.

The Mexicans spread out through the jungle in front of the city. A mile out, about 50 mortars were set up and began to rain shells on the city. Under the cover of the mortar hail, 300 tanks ground down the street. Occasionally, they would fire shells into the city, clearing out some of the rubble and making sure there were no soldiers behind it. Coming in right behind the cover of the tanks were Humvees. Along with the turret gun and the troops inside, many of the humvees pulled .20mm cannons behind them.
At a signal from the tank commander, the tanks aimed at one point and began to fire shells mercilessly. The Humvees split the other way and picked asnother track into the city. The goal was to distract the Tanuians with the tank fire and then split their forces. All under the cover of the mortars.
(OOC: the Mexicans are coming up from the south of the city)

The 10 heavy ST-21 tanks in the south sector fired continuously. The heavy 140mm round could penetrate all except the very heaviest of armour. All continued fighting, except 1 tank which suffered a communication malfunction due to a dozen tank rounds. The armour of the tanks proved to be of the highest quality.
The battery of 12 105mm howitzers began counter-battery operations against the mortars. Loading in canister rounds the battery fired 6 rounds a minute.
Soldiers outside during the attack were almost all killed. Several dozen more soldiers were killed due to mortars exploding in on the houses they occupied. In all 51 soldiers were killed and another 78 wounded.
The tank commander of the SouthWest Sector reported the movement of Humvees in his sector. Arming his tank main gun he and the other 4 tanks under his command began firing upon the column of Humvees. Soldiers armed with .50 machine guns and 20mm cannons began engaging the column as well.

The incoming tanks continued the pounding of the Chetomal city. The intial barrage had reported one tank damaged but no other results. The Tank commanders programmed in firing solutions based on the trajectories of the incoming shells and fired back, directly at the other tanks. Three of the Mexican tanks took direct hits and exploded, sending smoke belching into the air. Five other tanks took damage and the troops bailed out, planting explosives behind them so the enemy could not scrounge the tanks.
The other 42 tanks in the advance column began to take evasive maneuvers, rolling off the road to spread out. They cotinued to fire as they approached, targeting the area where the tanks were firing from.
In the jungles around the city, the mortars continued their barrages. As soon as the shells began to land in the city, the defense 105mm Howitzers fired back. Shells began to land in the jungle and explode all around the mexican forces. 58 of the Mexican soldiers were it by shells or shrapnel, echoing the jungles with their screams. Another 110 were wonded by the proximity of the explosions. Several Humvees began the rounds back to the forwards base, carrying off the wounded to the field hospital.
The Humvees pouned along the road, driving at top speed towards the city. ALl of a sudden, a tank round screamed in and tore a humvee in half, it continued on into a nearby field and exloded. The gunner and the passengers were killed instantly and the drive lost half of his back and the shell tore off his seat. The side passenger screamed in horror, running into the field, only to be cut down by machine gun fire.
The other Humvees instantly diverted their courses. Five more exploded as shells hit them and seven were tipped as blasts struck near them. The soldiers in the tipped humvees climbed out an used the fallen armor as sheilding. Several of the soldiers had brought along anti-tank rocket launchers. They sighted on the incoming shells and began to fire off rockets. The Humvees that were still alive began to launch gernades and fire .50 machine gun fire into the defensive positions.
The tanks took numerous hits, but their armour bounced the shells of them. The heavy tanks armour was able to bounce of 135mm rounds in the front armour like it was nothing. They began targetting the remaining tanks. Each tank fired 8 HEAT rounds, for a total of 72 tank rounds, each at different targets.
The 105mm howitzers continued to rain down a heavy barrage on the enemy. A total of 48 rounds were launched off.
The Tanks firing upon the Humvees continued to target the easy prey. The 6 tanks comany fired a total of 48 rounds, towards the Humvees.
Soldiers continued to fire endlessly upon the advancing enemy. Barrels were changed, and ammunition runs were made. However, still 28 more soldiers died, and 52 more wounded. The mortar fire was becoming increasingly effective and soon the front infantry defense may fall.
At sea a pair of 4 Su-25 Froggers enter the battle. Armed with 4 1,000lb guided missiles, 6 cluster munitions and 5 500lb bombs, they expected to make a large dent in the enemies numbers.

Eight more of the tanks took hits and exploded as they neared the city. Three other tanks took marginal damage, but were rendered immobile from shreded tracks. The Crews inside ditched the tanks and hopped on to the sides of the other tanks, hoping to survive long enough to make it to the city. As the tanks continued to roll in, the six tanks in the front of the column were hit. Instead of going around though, eight tanks pushed the hulks into a blockade and positioned themselves behind it, using the extra armor to delfect rounds fired back at them. All eight tanks began to select group targets. Each tank recieved one firing solution and launched off a round (i.e. eight rounds hitting one tank at the same time).
The Humvees were in a different predicament altogether. Tanks shots were coming in thick and fast all around. Five of the Humvees went down, their crews instantly killed by the esplosions. The smoke did create a screen for the other approaching humvees though and they continued to plow on. Four of the Humvees pulled off, using wreckage from the city as cover, the manned the .20mm anti personel cannons and began loosing rounds. The remaining Humvees (32) had made it to the front lines of the city. The gunners began to unload .50 caliber machine gun fire into the soldiers hiding in the rubble. Infantry men in the back of the Humvees hopped out and pulled out LAW 88 anti-tank rocket launchers, sighted, and fired at the tanks. other infantry men pulled out LAW-66 launchers and RPGs and began firing them into the infantry fortifications. All in all, 32 Humvees made it to the city, dropping in an infantry force of 192 soldiers.
back from the Jungles, the second wave of Humvees heard confirmation of the first wave getting to the city and started to move. One Hundred and Three Humvees followed by 20 50-ton trucks rolled out of jungle and towards Chetomal. Inside the Jungle, the Mexican forces finally brought up to working order the old 120 mm artillery piece they had brought. High yield explosive rounds were placed in it, the kind used to take out concrete bunkers. The Mexicans recieved targeting data from the front line tanks and began to fire rounds towards the enemy tanks.
Long range mobile radar picked up the presence of the Su-25s. At Oaxaca City, 6 of the MiG 29s were scrambled for air cover. They would be at the battle scene within the hour. behind them 10 of the B-122 heavy bombers were launched, their mission was to strafe the city with incidearies if the Mexicans had not captured hold of the city by the time they got there.
OOC: ahhh. . .returning to the RP battles after a long break is always fun.
OOC: Do you mean Chetomal, or Oaxaca City for the last part in your post about the fighters and bombers.
IC:
One ST-21 Tank was knocked out due to the continued concussion of tank rounds. The tank's electronic systems completely failed and they were left with a worthless piece of machinery. The crew exited the tank and ran for the nearest fortified building. The eight remaining tanks began to finally exit their position. They all manuevered to get a better shot of the tanks that were using the destroyed tanks as cover. In the ST-21's place 26 Pachis Class IFV came up from the Town's Center. The heavy auto-loader 60mm ETC began targetting infantry, tanks and humvees. The ST-21 tanks fired a total of 88 shots towards the remaining tanks, while the Pachis IFV fired 181 rounds.
The ST-21 tanks engaging the Humvees, were reinforced by 13 Pachis IFVs. The Infantry Fighting Vehicales immediately began working on the incoming Humvees, while it's 20mm cannon and 7.62mm co-axial machine guns went to work on the crew and soldiers. The six ST-21 tanks shot 54 rounds total, while the Pachis shot 89 rounds.
The 105mm howitzers continued to drop tons of lead on the enemy. They fired a total of 60 High Explosives Rounds, and 60 Anti-Personel Rounds.
The ST-21 tanks engaging the enemy tanks began taking heavy artillery fire. Though inaccurate the crew still felt the impact when the round hit. Sooner or later atleast one artillery would hit a tank.
In the city center the 192 enemy soldiers dropped off were immediately engaged. The soldiers in the surrounding areas, and the soldiers located in the North, and West buildings immediately began raining down hundreds upon hundreds of heavy 20mm, .50 and 6.5mm rounds. The soldiers optic equipped rifles were able to engage enemy soldiers at up to a range of 850 meters. Heavy fireteams shot a total of 11 High Explosive LAW rounds towards the dropped enemy soldiers.
The return fire from the enemy soldiers resulted in a total of 33 soldiers killed and 71 wounded. Most surviving soldiers had taken refuge in the intact buildings, not willing to risk their lives outside the somewhat sturdy buildings.

As the second wave of Humvees appraoched the city a wave of shells slammed in front of them. Four of the Humvees were unuckly enough to be caught in the blast and were immediatly shreded. The remaining 99 Humvees mouted up gunners and began to fire .50 rounds into the foritified buildings. About 20 of the Humvees were also equipped with fragmentations gernade launchers and they began to fire gernades at buildings, seeking to collapse them on the soldiers and calvary inside.
As the humvees advanced, another seven were shredded by machine gun fire from the Tanuian calvary. Machine gun rounds ripped through steel, flesh, and bone as the Mexicans tried to assualt the city from the front. The secondary tank line (an additional 150 tanks) spread out in the equivilant of a mangonel line began to rain fire on the opposing forces. The center pieces were 10 heavy T-87 Artillery Tanks, modified for the Mexican forces. Instead of the standard 80mm shells, they fired 180mm depleated uranium shells, capable of punching through even the toughest armor. The line of tanks quickly put roughly 700 shots into the air, trying to provide cover for the incoming Humvees.
As the tanks fired, 12 were hit by Howitzer rounds and fell silent, their control centers burning from the explosions. Three of the tanks suffered mechanical failures and pulled back for field repairs. One of the T-87s was hit by an artillery round and impacted, leaving a smoking crater in the field.
Back in the jungle, the mobile 120mm artillery piece began the rythmic pounding as its gunners got the rythmn down. 39 shells were up in the air in a matter of minutes.
As the second wave of Humvees roared towards the city using the tanks for covering fire, the infantry already dropped off were having a tough time. They had managed to find cover quickly enough to avoid being wiped out but 36 soldiers had fallen to machine gun or sniper fire and and an additional 15 had been wounded by nearby explosions. the city worked both for and against them, it was difficult for snipers to get off a long shot but then again, they could hide anywhere.
The Mexican forces pinpointed the buildings where the Tanuians were fighting from and began to pepper them with sniper shots and bursts of machine gun fire. A squad of twenty soldiers began ducking across the street, trying to get some shaped charges on the Tanuian held buildings.
As the Mexicans finished grouping, a series of rockets bombarded their position. The rockets killed 7 of the wounded soldiers as well as 5 of the ones fit to fight. Four others were wounded by shrapnel.

I'm going to be out of town until sunday night (US Western)
The soldiers along the perimeter began receiving intensive grenade, and automatic fire. The armoured of the heavy tanks and IFVs bounced off all the .50 machine gun rounds and the grenades. The buildings however couldn't hold on. A total of 9 buildings collapsed leading to 81 soldiers killed and 102 wounded.
The lead tank commander called in for heavy tank reinfocements as more tanks began coming up the towards the front line. The following tank battle was the most intensive tank to tank battle so far in the war. The eight ST-21 tanks quickly put 121 rounds in the air as 700 rounds began falling down on them. The Pachis IFVs launched of a total of 430 rounds, the 60mm ETCs still capable of punching through the Mexican armour. Out of the 8 ST-21 tanks remaining 5 were completely destroyed, receiving on average 32 shots per tank. Another 2 were inservicable, leaving 1 lone tank. Of the 26 Pachis IFVs 14 were destroyed and 6 more severly damaged. Vital reinforcements arrived, right when the line was about to break. Eight more ST-21 tanks came up, and 31 Pachis IFVs were brought into action. THe ST-21 tanks fired a total of 72 rounds, and the Pachis fired a total of 310 rounds.
In the far rear the 105mm Howitzers began counter-battery operations against the enemy artillery. They fired a total of 60 rocket assisted shots.
The armour on the West Side had received little more damage. Only 2 Pachis IFVs were destroyed. The remaining tanks and IFVs fired a total of 120 shots towards the second line of enemy humvees. Soldiers also continued to fire upon them with their heavy machine guns and rifles.
The soldiers that were engaging the dropped off soldiers continued to send rifle fire their way. A squad of 24 spotted a group moving off away from the battle, and engaged them with their .50 machine gun and expertly shot rifle fire. Grenades were thrown and another squad 100 meters away began engaging the same group of enemy soldiers. The soldiers began facing some enemy rifle fire. Though protected, a significant amount of soldiers were wounded and killed.
Seeking to end the situation the soldiers around the area began throwing all types of explosives and RPG launched missiles towards the enemy group. In all 67 grenades were thrown, 42 RPGs were launched, and 81 hand-held improvised explosives were launch towards the enemy.
The SU-25I Froggers were nearing the battle. The modified fighter bomber was a Tanian design. With improved weapons capacity, and radar it proved to be more formitable than it's older Russian cousin. The lead pilot takes a look at his radar as he flies. He quickly contacted HQ with a report.
"Base, this is Hot Ray. We have confirmed enemy aircraft flying at us, possible fighters. Request immediate assistance. Total tally stands at 16 bogies."
"Roger confirmed 16 possible fighter presence. Two squadrons of MiG-29's inbound. Lower speed, for them to catch up."
The attack aircraft slowed down their speed as a force of 24 MiG-29's speeded towards the attack aircraft. Moving at Mach 2 they would arrive very shortly to the scene.

HEYYY! I'm back!
okay, story time.
IC:
The Tank line continued to pound away, putting as many shells into the air as they could. Almost immediatly after they had started the second volley, enemy shells came raining in. Many went wide or far, but enough struck the old Mexican tanks to destroy a significant portion of them. Out of the 46 remaining tanks in the line, another 10 of the light tanks were hit by shells dead on, exploding into the (now) night sky. Three more tanks were damaged, but were still able to continue firing, though they had lost the ability to move. Two of the ten heavy tanks were hit by 23 shells apiece and simply left craters.
The tanks renewed their efforts and put another 523 shells into the air while the enemy was firing on them.
The old 120mm artillery piece was still firing off rounds, putting another five into the air when the rocket-propelled shells came screaming in. The crew had just gotten the sixth shot off when they noticed the raor and looked up. The men around never had a chance. All 60 rockets converged within 100 meters of the target, turning that section of jungle into a blazing inferno. 38 soldiers in the jungle were dead, 58 wounded, eight humvees destroyed, and the 120mm artillery gone.
The line of Humvees had taken continuous fire from the nemy since coming within range. On the path, eight more Humvees had been destroyed and four more damaged beyond repair. 87 Humvees made it to the city and dove into the rubble, trying to clear paths for the waves of soldiers. The leading Humvees opened up with .50 cal fire on the buildings where rifle flashes were coming from. The Humvees right behind them followed tank shell shots and began to fire back as best they could with LAW-88 rockets and Frag Gernade launchers mounted on the roof turrets. Within the city, the narrow avenues and ruins should protect the Humvees from the bulk of the tank fire, but not from the infantry fire.
Stangly enough, the fifty ton trucks had not attracted fire on their way into the city. Arriving at the entrance, the drivers watched the Humvees plowing ahead and then gave his orders for the troops to disembark. 1000 Mexican troops poured out of the trucks and instantly set up footholds for more troops to come in. They set up nests and sniper holes as well as paths for rockets and RPGs. 200 troops remained behind while the other 800 spread through the city in groups of 24 and began to hunt down enemy troops, tanks, and machine guns.
The original soldiers from the first wave were creeping across the street when explosives rained down upon them. They ran into craters and collapsed sewers, looking for cover. One of the men carrying demolitions was hit and he exploded, taking out the two men next to him, as well as a good chunk of the building he was near. Five more men were hit by .50 cal rounds or sniper shots and went down, dying in the rubble piles of the city. The remaining four men huddled together and tossed out gernades, sticky bombs, and any other explosive they could make with their hands.
Out in the air, the MiGs dived upon the city. Forming up on the tank lines of the Tanuians, the pilots armed rockets and chain guns and strafed downwards each of the 8 MiGs fired off three rockets and unleashed 2,000 rounds of depleated uranium shells onto the tanks. Following behind them were the bombers. The old B-54's flew high altitude over the sections of the city the Mexicans were most liekly not fighting in and began to drop bombs. Incindearies streaked down as well as dozens of 200-lb bombs meant to cause chaos. 15 2,000-lb bombers were dropped on what seemed to be command centers or ammo dumps, trying to disrupt the Tanuian war effort.
The bombardment of the Tanian lines caused havoc amongst the front line soldiers. Over 600 soldiers were killed or wounded in the immense bombardment, several key buildings were destroyed, and the command center was heavily damaged. Soldiers screamed in agony as they run through the combat zone burning. They were quickly shot, either by the enemy or by their comrades.
The tank line was nearly collapsed. Of the armoured reinforcments, 6 tanks were destroyed, while all but 9 Pachis IFVs were destroyed or damaged. The remaining armoured line continued to try to stall the enemy advance. More reinforcements came in from the North Line and West Line. Tanks and soldiers were stationed there in fear of a mult-line attack by the enemy. Seeing as many tanks and soldiers were assualting the South Line this tactic seemed unlikely. A much needed reinforcment of 8 more tanks, and 12 Pachis IFVs arrived right when the line was about to collapse. Engaging the enemy at dangerously close range the line was doomed to fall. The new reinforcements and the surviving tanks put 129 tanks rounds, and 280 IFV heavy 60mm ETC rounds into the air in hopes of destroying the enemy tank advance.
On the SouthWest side of the Line the tanks stationed there were gone, destroyed by the bombardment. All that remained were the Pachis IFVs, which still had more than enough power to destroy enemy tanks and Humvees. The humvees that continued to advance were met with 170 rounds from the Pachis IFVS remaining.
Marksmen stationed at the top of the command center reported the movement of possible enemy trucks before the aircraft bombardment occured. Soldiers from the North and West Lines immediately began to engage the soldiers as they disembarked. The 20mm cannons tore through the trucks like butter as the soldiers began manuevering against the large enemy force. The soldiers saw the enemy disembark and split into fireteams as they swept through the city. The soldiers who saw this quickly alerted the rest of the soldiers occupying the city. Soldiers everywhere were on the lookout for the enemy soldiers.
The soldiers began engaging the 200 soldiers left behind. The Northern Line garrison began to immediately fire upon the soldiers, sending numerous amount of machine gun and rifle fire towards their direction. A squadron (12) of Armoured Plated Humvees from the North added to the mayhem with their automatic grenade launchers. Twenty five soldiers were killed and another thirty-six wounded, the toll on the enemy however, was estimated to be higher.
The soldiers who were engaging the soldiers dropped of from the Humvees, were forced to have a three man team per squad (12) to look out for enemy soldiers trying to sneak on their position. The soldiers continued to enegage the soldiers with everything they have. Numerous where killed due to explosions and rifle fire, but the Tanians returned triple of what they received as heavy explosives and rifle fire were trained towards the enemy. Ten soldiers were killed an another twenty-one wounded due to this battle.
The 24 MiG-29I Squadron arrived right when the enemy fighters and bombers had finished their bombing run. Fearing the line would collapse the fighters trained their missiles on the bombers and fighters. They seperated into two groups of twelve. One group launched a total of 48 missiles towards the 6 enemy MiG fighters. The other group launched over 80 Missiles towards the large Mexican Bombers.
Moving behind the fighters the Su-25 Froggers enterred the battle area. The Four Froggers split up, one of the aircraft dropped 6 cluster munitions on top of the enemy artillery sending thousands of large BBs into the air. Another aircraft went of strafing runs, it's 30mm cannon making runs against Humvees, and infantry. The 3rd Frogger attacked the enemy tanks, dropping 4 500lb guided bombs, 2 1,000lb guided bombs, and over 400 rounds of Armoured Piercing 30mm rounds. The final Frogger engaged only infantry with strafing rounds.
Once they had accomplished this the fighter bombers stood on stand-by, awaiting further orders from ground command.
From infantry spotters on the ground the TNN Yelstin, and Gore began sending over 60 Cruise Missiles towards the battlefield. The Missile Cruisers sent the missiles towards the main battle line, were numerous tanks and enemy humvees were located. The Cruise Missiles had not only a 700lb warhead but also a small cluster munition attached under the warhead. This cluster munition contained hundreds of lethal meduim sized BBs.
OOC:Glad to see you back. Once this battle is over I'm going to commence my 12 Division attack on the Oaxaca border.

The fighters and bombers hauled out of the city, trying to get away before the Tanuians could send anything by way of air power. As the last MiGs were fleeing the scene, their radars blipped.
"One, three, twenty eight, no, forty-eight, i repeat forty-eight contacts inbound. Evasive maneuvers."
The six MiGs laucnhed off coutner measures, chaff, flares, empty fuel pods, and commenced exhaust dumps as they high-tailed it out of the area. Many of the missiles went for the decoys, but enough remained. Out of the six MiGs, four were destroyed, turned into fire-balls when hit by numerous missiles. the other two were able to use the fireballs as cover and run at terrain-following level to evade the rest of the missiles.
The bombers were farther away, having left with the MiGs, but they wern't any safer. The eighty missiles streaked in as gunners and crewmen yelled out contacts. The older craft began to violenty heave back and forth, trying to send out bad profiles to the missiles and confuse them. The tactic worked, slightly. About 23 of the missiles veered off after loosing target signatures. Another 27 fell to counter-measures or lucky machine gun fire from the bombers. The other thirty though, came through all of the confusion and hit their targets. Only one bomber made it out, shuddering as wind whistled through the huge chunks missing in the hull. It limped its way back to base to report what was happening.
back in the city, the Humvees were continuing the steady advance. Tanks shells came flying in from the Pachis, whistling down the narrow corridors of the ruined city. Most slammed into the building surrounding the Humvees, toppling even more rubble into the streets. The six lead Humvees were hit, either by rubble or tank rounds. 27 crewmen were killed in the dead Humvees. The trailing Humvees continued on, firing gernade rounds into the night sky, and lighting up the area with .50 cal rounds.
The trucks were almost done unlaoding as the .20 mm rounds came hurtling in. All of the drivers of the 20 trucks were killed instantly, exploding as the shells passed through them. One truck, carrying munitions, was hit and exploded. Flaming Mexican soldiers ran out and through the night until they burned to death, collapsing in the street. The other trucks were carrying some 50 soldiers, all of whom died from the rounds coming through the trucks.
The troops that were already disembarked and in position began unleashing hails of .50 caliber fire into the city where the Tanuians lay. .20mm anti-personel cannons were also manned and opened, raining the destructive lead down the roads. The Mexicans hoped to accomplish a two-fold mission. Kill as many Taniuans as possible and blind the remaining ones with the muzzle flashes (you troops wear night-vision, I'm assuming).
The soldiers manning the foothold line were hit by gernade fire as a column of enemy Humvees advanced. 38 Mexican troops died from explosions and another 56 were wounded by shrapnel. They were rushed back to the field hospital. The remaining troops (some 110) redoubled their efforts, launching shoulder-fired rockets at the Humvees and directing more of the .50 cal cannons at the line.
As the Froggers swooped in, cluster bombs began to explode around the Mexican positions. Fourtunatly, the Mexicans had been faily spread out while moving through the city and the damage was minimal. In total, 78 Mexican troops died and 143 were wounded. An additional twenty Humvees were destroyed by the strafing runs, but their crews were already out of the vehicles and in the city. The active Mexican forces left moving trough the city totaled 579 troops.
The Mexicans that saw the froggers swoop in mounted up teh TOW heat seekers, aimed, acquired locks, and fired, watching the missiles streak out after the Froggers.
(OOC: the artillery was already dead)
The Mexican tank line faltered under the new barrage from the enemy they thought was destroyed. Seven more tanks, including two more of the heavy tanks were destroyed. The twenty-seven surviving tanks formed up and advanced, still firing shells into the city, trying to destroy the reinforced Tanuian lines.
Commander Rakela, on the North side of the city saw the armored retreat to the south side. He signlead with a double click from his comm unit. On his command, five of the 120mm Howitzer artillery pieces in the jungle behind him opened up. 165 shells were up in the air within 30 seconds. Rakela nodded, this portion of the battle was going well. On his second comm click, a new wave of fifty Humvees followed by 30 20-ton trucks raced towards the city under cover of the artillery. Rakela and his squad (moved from their observation position in the caves oh those long posts ago) ran in on foot, using the terrain as cover for their movements.
OOC: My soldiers use a scope that is switchable from NV, to IR, and normal field view.
The MiGs flying in the air, began to engage ground targets as the enemy aircraft sped away. They specifically targetted armoured units. Twenty four missiles were launched, until the Humvees and trucks came in from the enemy's rear. Swooping down low the 24 aircraft squadron dropped a total of 48 cluster munitions and 24 high fragmentation bombs. After they completed their bombing run they switched to their cannons and began strafing runs. One after another the fighters reign havok on the enemy line. At the carrier a final squadron of MiG-29I Fighters took off, loaded with heavy air to ground weaponary. Runs against the new artillery positions were also made by six fighters.
The Pachis continued to rain down hell upon the advancing enemy humvees. With a reinforcment of 8 armoured humvees with grenade launchers they rained a total of 244 grenades, and 60mm ETC fire. The remaining soldiers in the buildings used they rifle fire, and machine gun fire to target drivers and tires on the vehicles.
The Mexican soldiers in the city began a large firefight with the Tanian soldiers. Using the tracer rounds from the machine guns the Tanian soldiers accurately pin-pointed the area of machine gun nests. Large amounts of rifle and machine gun fire came towards the enemy machine gun nests. Grenades were thrown and LAWs and RPGs were launched.
The Humvees attacking the footline of Mexican soldiers met stiff resistance as the enemy tried to make up for losses. Of the twelve Humvees there four were destroyed or damaged beyond repair. Tanian soldiers counterred the enemy by firing thousands of rifle and machine gun rounds. A small amount of Pachis IFVs, (4) who were being sent to reinforce the main line were re-directed to the combat in the city. They launched over 24 60mm ETC projectiles and hundreds of 20mm rounds towards the enemy.
The TOW missiles swooped towards the Su-25 formation. Though a anti-tank missile the missile still proved to be a dangerous enemy weapon. However, due to lacking the ability to manuever with the Su-25's only 1 was damaged, it released it's payload of 3 500lb anti-personel bombs, and 2 cluster munitions on the enemy artillery before pulling back.
The remaining three Su-25 froggers dove down into the infantry battle in the city. They performed numerous strafing runs and dropped a total of 5 cluster munitions against the enemy positions.
The front-line tank battle was slowly regaining strength. With strengthened numbers the tanks and IFVs put up over 500 rounds in the air, as the 120mm rounds impact. They landed on several buildings killing over 22 soldiers and woundin 12.
In this time-frame of battle over 92 soldiers were killed and another 121 wounded. The total amount of KIA stood at 311 KIA and 423 WIA. Despite this an audacious plan to drop over 500 soldiers into the battle-field was being planned off-shore in the command vessel.

ugh, had a great long post lined up and then the forum ate it. So I'll summarize.
Lots of Mexican losses, tanks down to 11, active Humvees down to 64. Meixcan soldier down to just above 400 roaming the city. The Mexicans responded with rockets, gernades, machine guns, and tank rounds as well as morters and continued artillery.
There was a conference of the generals, they decided to capitualte and sent out a displomatic helicopter seeking to negotiate with Tanuian leadership.
Word reached the Mexican soldiers and they laid down their arms.
OOC: I hate it when that happens, I just try copying what I wrote before I post it. Also did all of the Mexicans surrenderred, or was it just the ones in Chetomal.
IC:
The Mexicans continued to fight on hard. Losses of infantry in the Main Line was increasing as artillery shells exploded among them. The tank and armoured line held, although 6 Pachis were destroyed or severly damaged. In the city the infantry were being engaged by heavy rocket and machine gun fire. They counterred with a 81mm mortars positioned in the Northern Sector. The soldiers continued to fight on hard as they brothers fell among them. In the SouthWest Sector the small amount of remaining armour there fought hard against the steady incoming Humvees.
The Mexicans at Chetomal lowered their arms slowly. Crews from the Humvees and tanks came out with their hands up, dropping their weapons. The remaining Tanian soldiers gathered the remaining Mexican soldiers and held them captive in the city. A reinforcment of 800 soldiers from the Para Division bolsterred the numbers of the Tanians. The enemy armour was gathered in a field, and became target practice for Tanian Tanks and IFVs. The Battle For Chetomal was one of the bloodiest battles thus far in the conflict. Of the 2,150 Marines and Para soldiers occupying the city, 667 were KIA, and another 883 wounded, for a grand total of 1,550 casualties. A good amount of wounded continued fighting after receiving their wounds, not wanting to let the city fall.

A bombing flight consisting of 4 Su-52 and 6 F-91A's pick up an unscheduled flight on their radar. The Su-52's increase speed to mach 2.5 to get a visual of the target. It was an unarmed helicopter, flying fairly high and at a steady speed. The Commander switched to an open channel.
"Unidentified helicopter, you are nearing Tanian held territory, state your intensions or you will be fired upon, respond."
The Commander then targetted the helicopter with a Air to Air missile, waiting for it's response.

As the Mexicans laid down their arms and surrendered across Mexico, body counts began to come in. 697 Soldiers were reported dead with the body count still rising. An unknown number of wounded were also reported. Counts needed to come in from field hospitals as well as the streets of Chetomal.
(sorry, need to see the whole thread and count, I'll be back with final tallies later)
The unarmed Helicopter carrying General Vasquez was hailed by the Su-25s
The pilot hit the transmit button and broadcast the recorded message to the fighters.
This is General Vasquez of the Mexican Army. Our troops have been ordered to cease fire and we wish to approach under diplomatic protection for terms of peace. Please order a cease fire for your troops. Respond with a time of meeting for peace negotiations. Repeating, this is General Vasquez of the Mexican . . .
Major Grimwitz looked slightly puzzled. The thought of the Mexicans surrender was almost impossible he thought.
"General Vasquez this is Major Grimwitz, leader of the 122nd Multi-Role AirCorp. Hold position and maintain speed as I contact headquarters."
The Major switched the channel to the secured military line.
"Base this is Flying Arrow we have a General Vasquez requesting diplomatic talks with the General. He is airborne in an un-armed helicopter."
"Flying Arrow, Base. Escort the General to the TNN Soar, General Fredrickson, and Admiral Howitt will meet them there to discuss meeting. Do not give location of the carrier."
The Major switched back to open channel.
"General Vasquez, command has ordered me to escort you to a undiscolsed location where the meeting of our top military personel in the region can be made. I do not have the authority to order a cease-fire but command has already issued the orders to the soldiers. Again we are to escort you to an undisclosed..."

General Vasquez listened to the transmission twice.
Alright He thought. he just wanted to end this war.
"Major. We are preapred to follow you. Lead the way."
The helicopter came within view of the jets,as it neared. The Jets took up escort position and lead the helicopter to the Tanuian negotiation site.
(sorry to play god for a momenth, but I needed some filler.)
The aircraft led the helicopter over the terrain of a recent battle. Artillery holes and dead bodies were in plain view. After 30 minutes of a long flight they arrive at the helicopter. Onboard the TNN Soar General Fredrickson, and Admiral Howitt waited anxiously in the secured board room. The guards who were receiving the Mexican General were ordered to immediately take the General to the meeting room and take the pilot and anyone else in the helicopter into a secured bedroom.

General Vasquez stepped out of the Helicopter and looked around appreciativly. The Tanuians certainly knew how to build a carrier. Within the General's Briefcase, a pile of documents sat. Total war figures and expenditures as well as the documents the Mexicans were prepared to negotiate peace terms on.
Vasquez walked up to who appeared to be the Commanding Admiral. he glanced ever so briefly at the name tag affixed to the man;s uniform.
"Admiral Howitt. A pleasure to meet the man behind the campaign. If you'll escort me to the board room, I believe we have much to discuss."
OOC: we can go into peace negotiations. I'm going to leave it up the the guy (or girl) that controls Mexico in EII to start a revolution if they want.

"Hello General Vasquez. Welcome onboard the TNN Soar, our Capital Ship of the 3rd Tanian Expeditionary Fleet. If you would please follow me to the secured board room we can begin neogiations."
A squad of Tanians followed closely behind the Mexican General as the Admiral led them down several flights of stairs and through a long hallway. At the end lay the secured meeting room for high officials. The Admiral opened the door and let the General in. Inside sat General Fredrickson, Army Commanding Officer. The General stood up to shake the Generals hand.
"I'm General Fredrickson. I'm sure it was a long flight to arrive here so let's just get down to business fast. Let's here what you wish to propose General Vasquez."

Private Relequez sat down at the table after shaking the General's hand. He had been sent on a covert mission to do as much damage to the enemy as possible. His command had disquised him as Vasquez, the head Mexican General and had sen him on this 'peace' mission.
The Private sat down. he was wholly devoted to his cause. He was prepared. He said a quick prayer under his breath, then pressed the button on his suitcase and detonated the bomb. . . .
(told you it could get interesting)
Back in Chetomal.
As soon as the Mexican leaders had confirmation that the bomb had gone off, they sent a short-burst tranmission to their forces. The Mexicans leaped forward, grabbing guns, pipes, and anything that came to hand and assualting the Tanuians. Mexicans leaped back into Humvees or crawled into Machine gun nests and began firing. Mexicans who had been brough close to Taniuan vehicles struggled to overthrow the Taniuan guards and destroy, disable, or commandeer the enemy vessels.

OOC: I'm assuming this is a standard High Explosive.
IC:
The bomb exploded in the conference room, killing both high ranking military leaders, including six sailors and four soldiers. The explosion caused a section of the carrier to be inservicable. Quick replacments for the command positions were established once word got around that the General and Admiral were dead.
Chetomal
The soldiers had dug pits two feet into the ground, and surrounded it with barb wire. A reinforcment group of 1200 Para soldiers had joined in on the camp to assist in holding the captives. An additional Armoured Battalion was flown from Veracruz, bolsterring the number and 800 soldiers. The large pit was in the open field, half of the soldiers were always on guard, a full 1,400 soldiers. Armoured vehicales in the form of IFVs, APCs, Humvees and tanks were also on guard.
Suddenly the large enemy prisoners of war, got up and started running out of the pit. The rifles had been collected into a large pile, thousands of old rifles lay there. That pile was roughly 500 yards away from the Mexicans. As soon as the first soldier got up, shots began to rang. Crews in their vehicales closed their hatches and locked them, while machine gunners and riflemen fired from fixed positions yards away. Military police on the ground guarding the POWs were overwhelmed and 30 died, not before releasing several grenades and firing two full magazines. The call began to come in about the escape and the rest of the garrison began to head towards the site of the battle.
A line of 14 ST-21 Cougar Tanks, 43 Pachis IFVs, and 30 Humvees began to rain hell upon the escaping enemies. The Tanks fired a total of 84 AP rounds, the Pachis fired 121 AP rounds, and the Humvees began targetting with .50 machine guns and grenade launchers. Soldiers on the ground released a ferocious volley of rifle fire, machine gun fire, and grenades towards the enemy. Despite this a total of 12 soldiers, excluding the MPs killed were killed during the battle.
In the skies a flight of Cobra Attack helicopters fly aimlessly, only 2 miles from Chetomal. A message came about the uprising and they quickly moved into the area. Armed with cannons, rockets, and various other lethal weapons they were sure to stack up on enemy losses.

The desperete move was costly for the Mexicans. Within minutes, roughly 200 of the fighting Mexican forces had been cut down. Bullets flew and richocheted every where, threatening the Taniuans just as much as the Mexicans.
The remaining 300 or so Mexcians left alive ran for weapons and vehicles. They grabbed rifles, rockets, gernades, anything that came to hand. 182 Mexicans made it to the weapons stashes and began firing back into the Tanuians who had been standing around them just minutes before. The other hundred ran towards Taniuan and Mexican vehicles. many managed to make it into Mexican Humvees or nearby tanks and began sending .50 cal rounds and 50mm tanks shells into the mix. 47 of the Mexican running for Behicles ran to Tanuian behicles and tried to pull Tanuians out of the Humvees (by shooting them or clubbing them), the ones that ran to the tanks laid down whatever explosives they had, mostly sticky bombs and running. (Think Saving Private Ryan, the bombs were basically shaped plastic charges in socks with grease smeared on them so they stuck)
Outside of the City, the remaining Mexican forces from the south and north heard the renewed gunfire and began plowing ahead into the conflict. the Northside artillery came active and began pounding away at the Tanuian re-inforced line, 150mm shells soaring through the air.
Some of the procured t-87 Tanks from the Soviet days were rumbling forward, firing off their 80mm shells into the city.
From a jungle base about 50 miles away, a dozen first-generation Apache gunship/attack helicopters rose up and began flying towards the fight. The Mexicans were determined to take the city back.
The Tanian soldiers fired form on the roofs of the buildings. Aiming carefully they precisely targeted enemy soldiers. The enemy attempting to overun Tanian vehicales where met with machine gun fire and rifle from from the Tanian positions. A full battalion of 900 Para soldiers were engaged in the combat against the Mexican escapees. However, two Humvees we overun with mexicans. The four soldiers inside died as bullets ripped through the windows. Six Merlin Anti-Tank rockets headed towards the recently captured humvees. Six Pachis IFVs were damaged from the sticky explosives, but were still able to manuever and operate the gun. Fierce fighting continued as Mexican and Tanian soldiers exchanged arms. A total of 19 more Tanians died and 23 wounded
(OOC:I took all the armour you had into a field and destroyed it. So technically I'm storing none of your armour used in battle.)
Soldiers in the Northern and North West sector reported enemy movement, and enemy artillery shells. Almost instantly the newly reinforced two battery of 105mm artillery (24) and two batteries of 155mm (12) began counter-battery operations. The 105mm batteries unleased 54 Anti-Peronsel rounds into the air, and the 155mm send 30 AP rounds into the air. A total of 9 Tanians died and another 34 wounded from the enemy bombardment.
The 80mm shells did little to the heavily armoured ST-21 tanks. However the rounds still did plenty of damage against the infantry vehicles, and infantry on the ground. 14 Tanians died and four Humvees were knocked out.
The squadron of MiG-29I and section of Su-25 Froggers took off from the offshore carrier once again. The total stood at 24 MiG-29I and 3 Su-25 Froggers. Loaded once again for intense air to ground combat the Froggers took the lead as the MiGs stayed 1000 meters behind them.
The Cobras had arrived to the battle scene ready. (There's six) Immediately they used Infrare Red to successful target and neutralize infantry concentrations in the jungle in the North sector. They launched a total of 30 AP Missiles 500lb warhead, and shot off 2,000 rounds of 20mm cannon. The results would be devastating.

Finaly preparations were being made, a massive 12 division formation had assembled for the final push into the Mexican stronghold province. Over 250,000 soldiers were mobilized, along with the assistance of helicopters, airplanes, and numerous naval launched missiles. Though they would have to wait a little longer the day for the great push was nearing.
Onboard the ISS Soar
The newly in place Admiral Jack Mitchell, and General Thomas Reynolds conversed in the admiral's room. The topic of discussion was a form of revenge against the Mexican forces.
"Admiral, tell me, what units could we be able to launch against the Mexicans? They have killed two high ranking military officials and have crippled a section of this carrier. I mean, there's something we must be able to do just to give them something in return."
The Admiral's eyes grew dark as he began to think.
"A massive naval strike, using only missiles against the Mexican Capital of Oaxaca could severly hamper command operations. We have satelitte photos we could use to choose alleged targets of priority."
The General nodded.
"Start immediately."
Command was given throughout the massive 121 strong fleet outside Veracruz waters. The order was given to launch a massive missile strike against the Mexicans. Destroyers, frigates, and missile cruisers began warming their targetting systems. Suddenly a large boom broke the silence as the first missile was launched. Soon another and another and another. Several minutes later the sky lit up with the illumination of the missiles. A total of 105 500lb Tomahawks, 208 1,000lb TomahawksI, and 32 TomahawksII were launched towards the city of Oaxaca.

Chaos ruled within the city. The Mexican troops were being hit hard by the accurate swaths of Tanuians fire. Any Mexican who had made it to a vehicle was targeted by Machine gun fire and mowed down before he could get armor between him and the rifle fire.
The Mexicans that made to the weapons were a bit luckier, but not much. As they dashed for cover, they took 50% casualites. WSith their numbers thinned to just over a hundred soldiers, They began to split into groups of ten. Five groups dropped into the ruined sewers and began to look for ways to pop up behind the enemy and suprise them. The laywers of ruptered concrete could also sheild them from IR scans.
The other groups took up positions that looked innoculous but could be deadly. From any IR scan they would just look like another group of Taniuan soldiers sitting in a building. Inly a direct visual scan would reveal that they were Mexicans. They perched in the windows, searching for targets, The Mexicans fired very few shots, only firing when they had a guarenteed shot at an enemy passing by a window.
The artillery in the jungle was pounding away at the city when the missiles began to streak in. Most of the massed troops in that area of the jungle were already on their way over to the city either on foot or in Humvees when the missiles hit. The warheads flew in to the artillery cluster, detonating brightly against the sky. In the after math, one artillery battery had survived and was still firing, but a total of 23 mexcian soldiers died.
As the missiles struck, they were followed quickly by falling artillery rounds. The rounds slammed into the ground around the destroyed artillery. The single cannon continued to fire amidst the fire and smoke. The damage, while it hurt the Mexican forces, would shield their next move from both IR sensors and visual scans. the smoke and fire provided an excelllent cover.
Rakela keyed his comm unit from the field and called in his order. " Second Line, commence firing protocol."
The second line of artillery traced the firing patterns of the Tanuian artillery and began counter-battery operations. 64 shells went up in a matter of minutes. Each of the eight mobile artillery pieces put up eight rounds at the enemy artillery then shiften focus and placed another five rounds each at enemy tank and foritifed positions. (40 AP rounds)
The Apache gunships swopped in from behind the heat to protect themsevles from Tanuian early radar systems. They picked up their targets, the six cobras doing strafing runs on the ground. One cobra for every two apaches was assigned and targets were taken. the Apaches got targeting locks and fired. 24 missiles streaked out. Several were heat-seekers, several were guided, and a few even had target-profile locks on them.

Oaxaca City
Night fell on the city of Oaxaca. Despite the conflict going on in the south, city life continued much as usual. As the sun set, the night clubs opened. the wealthy fashionistas, the scene teenagers, the hip young adults. All went out to their various parties to indugle in their addiction of choice.
Children, home from the day were being tucked in by their parents. Other were turning on the news to watch the days events and get new body tallies on the war situation. Some were eating dinner. The hospitals were open and running on the night shift skeleton crews. Most governmental buildings had been shut down but here and there there was an office light still on from a secretary doing late night reports.
The President was just beginning his nightly meeting with the JCOS in their underground bunker. He had just arrived when the missiles began to fall.
"What the hell was that!" He shouted as the first explosion rumbled the ground.
"Sir" one of the generals said "We are under attack, I reccomend you stay in here, it is the safest part of the city."
As the second boom went off, the lights fizzled for a second. Then the third, then the fourth. Then the power went out.
No one knew how long they took cover but the thuds and explosions contiued for a long time. People that still had power were getting scattered reports from media members that were estimating somewhere in the ballpark of 400 missiles falling on Oaxaca.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Through the explosions, the Mexican defense forces woke up and ran to battle stations. Mobile anti-missile defense systems were powered up and set off, taking targets that were coming down on the city. Flak guns usually reserved for air attack began to light up the sky, trying to damage or de-stabilize missiles that were heading into the city. Chain-guns also came live, spraying machine gun rounds on computer-projected missiles paths.
All in all, the Mexicans were only able to destroy 58 missiles. Initial reports were saying that 15 were duds, 58 were destroyed, 24 had over or undershot the city and the rest had been targeted for large buildings. 248 missiles had impacted on the city. The death toll was estimated to be close to 25,000 civilian casualties.
A single sniper on top of the Command Center reported the status of the PoW revolt. He watched with his high powered rifle scope as the Mexicans jumped down into the sewers. He quickly reported the information to Command which ordered a Company (240) of soldiers to go into the sewer systems to kill any Mexicans found.
The small clusterred group of Mexicans were not easy to find. Eighteen soldiers dropped before their area was pinpointed. A volley of 64 81mm mortars came crashing around their position. An armoured column of 24 Pachis IFVs began to slowly make their way to the Mexican foothold.
The heavy 155mm battery took the brunt of the enemy counter-battery attacks. A full 10 howitzers were destroyed and 30 service men were killed. The remaining fully strengthened baterries began their own counter-battery operations. The 36 artillery pieces launched a total of 180 AP rounds toward the enemy battery. The result was sure to be pure chaos.
The old Cobra gunships quickly fell from the power the Apaches displayed. Five went down, and the remaining one survived after deploying various counter-measures and evasive manuevers. The downed helicopters were quickly replaced by the MiG-29I's coming in from the off shore carrier.
The MiG's quickly engaged the Apaches with thier long range 70 to 80 km missiles. Each two MiGs were designated one Apache. A total of 8 missiles were launched at each Apache for a total of 192 missiles.
The Su-25 Froggers saw no immediate threats from IR scanning and just flew around, waiting for any possible enemy activity.
OnBoard the ISS Soar
Admiral Jack Mitchell watched as the numerous reports came in from the missile attack against Oaxaca City. Obviously the enemy had gotten what they deserved, the death of a military leader out weighed greatly the death of thousands of civilians.
"CO, (Communications Officer), what are the suspected enemy casualties from the recent attack?"
"Admiral, current reports put the casualties at 20,000 to 28,000."
"Hmm. That is not enough. Order the same launch protocols. This time increase the all missile types by 20. This should be be sufficient."
The CO looked in astonishment at the Admiral. He stared for several seconds, before the Admiral repeated the orders. Immediately the CO began to order out the new launch protocols. A second wave of around 600 missiles were about to be launched at the already torn Mexican City.

As the Taniuans searched through the sewere system, the Mexicans watched. being on home turf, they definatly had the advantage. The Taniuans advanced under the eyes of the watchsul soldiers. When they reached the target zone, an observer called in on his comm unit. "target has reached site, commence firing."
The small group of twenty Mexican soldiers that had stayed behind as a rearguard opened up with their portable .50 caliber machine guns, lighting the confined sewer with tracers and deflected bullets.
In the upper reaches of the city, the mortars began to fall on the Mexican positions. Small groups of twos and threes were in buildings scattered about the city. They fired at their sure targets, keeping up the fire rate. Suddenly, mortar shells crashed through the ceiling and exploded. 13 Mexicans soldiers died and 6 more were wounded. The other soldiers in the city wern't in communication with each other so they continued to fire as targets of oppertunity presented themselves.
Deep in the jungle the artillery continued their firing. As they began to hear the bangs from their shells, enemy shells came flying in. The first twenty odd shells came in at various ranges, missing the mortar battery completely. However, once the Taniuans had adjusted for range, the mortars fell true. Six of the eight artillery pieces were hit dead on, destroying them and their crews. The other two took marginal damage but continued to be operation. The three artillery pieces left (plus the one from before) picked up their rate of fire, targeting the enemy artillery.
The Apache gunships had just started to line up for strafing runs when the MiG missiles flew in. The helicopters never stood a chance. All twelve were destroyed within seconds of each other, lighting up the sky with a series of flashes as metal shrapnel rained down on the ruined city.

In Oaxaca City, amid the burning buildings and broken bodies a small contingent of men walked to a sheltere door. They knocked and were admitted by a pair of Mexcian honour guards. The men were quicky sheperded downstairs in the closed conference room. As the walked in, they saw President Chavez of Mexico sitting alone at the far end of the conference table.
"Why have you brought us here?" On of the men demanded.
"I wish to negotiate with you. I want the help of your men." Replied Chavez
"You want to enlist us?"
"More or less."
"Unacceptable, you know what our demands are."
"We are willing to grant you your demands."
"Really. Once you prove it to me, then we can talk."
"I have the paper prepared right here, all they need is your signature." Chavez slid the docet across the table towards the three men. "It's all there. You will be granted semi-autonomy, a prominant place in the parliament, full llegal rights and protections. You will be protected against pograms and you will have the blessing of the Mexican government."
"And the money?"
"Start up funding of 500 m pesos. Negotiable after that."
"No, 1 bn pesos."
"We can't hand that over right now. 700."
"8."
"done. "
The leader of the men signed his name on the bottom of the docet and looked up at Chavez. "Mr. President, I would like to the first to invite your orders.
"Welcome to the Mexican army, we have some invaders we need to kick out.
"Of course, my Zapatistas will get right on it."
OOC: The Zapatista rebels have joined the Mexican army after the government gave into their demands. They're not well trained or armed but they blend right into the civilian population and there's about 800,000 of them armed. :)
The three batteries continued to pound away at the enemy artillery. Many have been destroyed, due to the fact that less artillery shells were coming. The batteries launched 48 shells each towards the enemy artillery position.
The fire coming from the Mexicans in the sewers were becoming increasingly intense. Already nearly 24 soldiers lay dead and another 12 wounded. The Tanians continued to fight on hard, focusing on suppressing fire they tried to advance through the sewer, using fallen pieces of concrete as cover. Portable 7.62mm machine guns were used to make the enemy duck as the Tanians manuevered to get closer. Despite the coverring fire five more soldiers were killed. The Tanians soon got within grenade range and threw over two dozens grenades to hamper the defensive actions of the Mexicans.

IC: The initial group of Mexican defenders in the sewers fought hard. The Taniuans had superior weapons and numbers though, and the battle began to turn into one of attrition. Eight of the twelve defenders went down to Machine gun fire. Three of the remaining four packed up and ran further into the labyrinth of the sewer system. The last one continued to hold down the fort, laying supressive fire down towards the Taniuans. As the others cleared the area, the last man dumped a small stachel by his abandon nest and ran after his retreating comrads.
The Tanians took three more casualties before the Mexicans began to turn and run. Two new recruits quickly got up and ran after them, in seconds their bodies were torn apart, chunks of the arms and chest was sprayed against the sewers walls.
The remaining 220 or so slowly followed after the remaining Mexicans.

The newly enlisted Zapatistas crouched in the jungle foliage. A full 500 of them were ready for the sneak attack. Armed with a wide variety of weapons, the clutched AK47s, RPGs, Desert Eagle Pistols, Klasnikovs, Remmigtons, and even a few LAWs. Most also had gernades with them. As the Taniuan soldiers began to drift off to sleep in their tents, the Zapatistas prepared to move. The Taniuan sentries were out patrolling but they would be of no moment to the fanatical rebels. After a few minutes, a bird call went across the wind. Nowhere out of the ordinary, it would go unnoticed. It was the seconds after the bird call was sent though that would gain notice.
As soon as the tone cut out, the Zapatistas began to fire into the encampment. Though grossly outnumbered, the Zapatistas knew that they only had to whittle down the enemy and escape, such was the nature of guerilla warfare. On the mark, all 500 Mexicans began firing. Thousands of rifle and pistol rounds, dozens of rockets and RPGs, and not a few thrown gernades erupted from the jungle in towards the Tanuians.

Soldiers were alerted of the presence of enemy Mexicans within the city. Immediately every unit had atleast five soldiers watching the rear, making sure noone tried anything. One soldiers saw out of the corner of his eye a man drop. He turned to see that a Mexican slit the soldiers throat, two more mexicans stood behind him coverring him. He immediately fired two full magazines and threw a grenade at the group before calling for help through his radio.
At Command a Para battalion (800) split into 20 groups and went through ever part of the city, save the sewers.
The company commander had ordered the new recruits up front to report anything suspicious. The recruits were put 50 meters in front of the main group and slowly made their way through the tunnels. Several explosions went off killing 17, and wounding 5. Finally turning a corner a recruit gets blasted with bullet wounds. Immediately the company crouches and approaches the corner. Five smoke grenades were thrown for cover as Six men approached the corner and threw twelve grenades each. The rest of the company stood far away, fearing more explosives coming their way.

The small Mexican contingent in the sewers had set up another ambush point. Another dozen soldiers were sitting in nooks and crannies with rifles and portable machine guns. As soon as a Taniuan poked his head around the corner, they let loose. The man flew back in a spray of blood. Almost immediatly smoke gernades came around the corner, obscuring the entrance to the Mexican hole. Behind them came gernades. The Mexicans opened up immediatly, spraying rounds into the Taniuan hiding place. The gernades went off. Six men were killed and three were injured. The two men holding down the entrance escorted the injured further into the Mexican territory. As they left, two more men continued to fire rounds as the last man set three proximity charges on the roof of the sewer. Even if the Taniuans didn't lose many men going past them, as soon as they went off it would seal the Mexicans from the Taniuan force.
In the streets, small gangs of Mexican soldiers skulked in shadows waiting for opertunities. One group saw a Taniuan sqaud move past. They slipped from the shadows like ghosts. A Tanuian was grabbed from behind and his throat was slit before he could make a sound. Unfortuantly, one of the other soldiers turned around. The two Mexicans covering their comrad opened up, taking fire at the same time. Both of them went down, one to a bullet wound in the head and the other to a gernade.

One of the guards saw a large amount of body heat towards the jungle, immediately he contact command about it and a small armoured column was moving up to investigate. Suddenly out of nowhere a hail of gun fire came screaming towards the camp. The two guards each began working the two machine guns attached to the towers. They only managed to release a few rounds before their position was pin pointed and they were eliminated. Soldiers sleeping in tents roughly 400 meters away from the front gate heard the clatter of gun fire and awoke to find their tents with thousands of bullet holes. A dozen died and two dozen more were injured as they slept. The armoured column now moved quickly to the scene. It consisted of 10 armoured reinforced Humvees, 8 Pachis IFVs, and 5 ST-21 Next Generation Battle Tanks. The commander immediately called in helicopter support as they neared the scene. A small flight (6) of Apache Longbow helicopters were quickly in the air and moved at top speed to the location.
Meanwhile the tanks, the IFVs, and the Humvees began using infrare red targetting systems to correctly identify human body signatures. A fierce amount of tank arounds, and cannon fire went blazing into the jungle, causing a small fire. All of the vehicles in the column could survive atleast 10 RPG hits, except the Humvee which could be easily brought down with one or two well aimed RPGs.

The six men began shooting their rifles and light machine guns towards the enemy blindly through the smoke. One ran through and sought cover from a large fallen piece of concrete. From there he used his scope to target Mexican fighters. The five others came through the smoke as well and assisted him in targetting the fleeing Mexicans. Just as the six were about to run after the Mexicans the company commander stopped them. Seeking cover from another fallen stone.

The Mexican defenders rushed to their posts and began to open up with the flak cannons and StA missiles. 800 missiles flew towards the city creating contrails as they brushed with the heavier atmosphere and smog of the big city. The defenders tried valiently to bring them down, calling hits or misses as missiles moved into different defense sectors.
""Two hits, two down!"
"Missiles moving to sector 4-B. Target telelmtery is 314-65-789. Pull it down."
"I got it, it got it I . . . [static]"
"Two more heading wide west, let them go."
"We got a dud falling in sector 1-green., leave it be."
"Hit three."
"Targets five, seven, twenty three, and thirty down."
All in all, fifty-two missiles were shot down. Another thirty four landed outside of the city igniting the jungle around the city. 714 missiles fell on the city, only another 40 were duds. 674 of them exploded around the city, causing massive damage to the already burning city. Initial counts of the bodies added another 52,000 dead to on top of the 28,000 final count from the first bombing.
As the fires began to finally subside and the remaining fire crews started to contin blazes, the President sent a message to the world, begging for help.

The RPGs and LAWs merely bounced off the ST-11's armour, however several hit small weak spots in the bottom side armour of the Pachis IFVs, two were destroyed. The Humvees took the greatest losses, three were destroyed and two more were damaged. An armoured reinforcment of 5 ST-11's, 11 Pachis IFVs, and 15 Humvees began making their way to the front of the line.
The six Apaches had gotten within range of their missiles. Using infrare red they targetted concentrations of Mexican fighters and fired two anti-personel rockets. These rockets contained large BBs which were exploded 2 meters away from the intended target. The blast then sprays the area with the BBs and shrapnel. After the missiles were launched the Apaches then began strafing runs with their heavy 30mm cannons.
Losses in the tents were massing as soldiers lined their kevlar vests against the tents soft outer coverring. Still 13 more died and 27 more were wounded as a result of the enemy fire. Soldiers began firing back with their own weapons using trucks, or boxes as cover.

A large explosion rocked the humvee as it flipped over several times. The left side of the vehicle was completely crumpled, and all three crewmen were dead. The explosion did however attract the attention of several nearby soldiers. The four men slowly approached the area with their rifle's at the ready and their flashlights on.
Several soldiers in the area reported sniper fire coming from the South East Sector. Immediately the four snipers in the area began scanning the high rise buildings in search of this unknown attacker. Already two soldiers had been killed and another four wounded. Several Pachis IFVs were called into the area in case the sniper was a spotter for a larger Mexican unit.

The company commander radioed in the collapsing of the tunnels. Base then sent in the three remaining Su-25 Froggers, and all three released two 1,500lb "bunker busters" missiles. The missiles were directed by the company commander on the ground, but they were at best fair guesses of the enemies location.

The Zapatistas continued firing into the Taniuan encampment, spending thousands of rounds on simply filling the air with shells instead of aiming. The Taniuan weapons were steadily taking their toll though. Bullets ripped through another 35 Zapatistas as the Taniuans finally began to take cover and fire through secure positions. The major turning point of the battle was the Apache rockets. With 284 remaining Zapatistas firing, the rockets flew into their midst. Almost instantly, 173 Zapatistas dies from the BBs ripping through their bodies. Another 84 fell with wounds that were mortal. The last 27 Zapatistas fired their remaining rounds then planted the timed charges. They laid down and waited. The seconds ticked by with enemy fire zipping past their heads. Finally, the counters reached zero. Ten high-yield explosives went off all around the Zapatistas. Anyone who was aloive and within 200 feet of the blast should have died instantly, as the last Zapatistas did. All that remained of the 500 were the wounded that were trekking back to a base of operations to recover for the next skirmish.
Sewers of Chetomal
The Mexican groups moved through the sewers, seeking strong points to defend against further Taniuan incursions. As one group stopped to rest, a warhead punctured through the concrete above them and detonated, killing all 27 of the Mexicans in the rat-hole. Four other groups moved through the sewers as well. The heard the thud. One man identified the noise. "bunker-buster." he said in a low voice. Two bombs exploded near one group, wounding six. The other groups escaped unharmed.
Streets of Chetomal
The Mexican soldier saw the approaching Taniuans and drew his weapon. The Taniuans heard the noise though and filled the area with bullets, dropping the Mexican to the ground.
The sniper lined up another shot and fired at his target. As his muzzel flashed, a Taniuan sniper saw him and aimed. The sniper fell moments later from a Taniuan shell lodged in his head.
As a small group of soldiers passed, a mexican lifted up a sewer conver and rolled a gernade into them, then ducked back into the sewers.
From a pile of rubble, two Mexicans watched with a machine gun. They spotted a group of Taniuans and began to fire.
OOC: I'm going to let the Mexicans in the sewers escape.

The high yield explosive left behind by the mexicans killed 2 soldiers and wounded six more due to shrapnel.
The Apaches in the continued to follow the fleeing Mexicans. The explosion however clouded their infrare scanners. The six Apaches were forced to return to base. The camp however remained alert. With heavy armoured patrols in full effect at all camps in Mexico. The total count stood at 39 soldiers KIA and 129 WIA due to the enemy surprise attack. In the morning a small patrol of a company (240) made their way through the jungle, attempting to track the fleeing mexicans
Streets of Chetomal
The squad (12) of soldiers saw the grenade and ran as fast as possible. The explosion and shrapnel still killed 5 and severly wounded 7 more.
The platoon (44) of soldiers came under heavy machine gunfire. Twelve were killed outright and 7 others were wounded. Attempts to kill the machine gun crew only resulted in two more dead. The platoon requested support as they continued to fire back with grenades, rifles and light machine guns. A nearby sniper heard the call and positioned himself to take a shot. He was discovered however and was shot dead by the mexicans. Another sniper positioned himself, successfully concealing himself. The firefight was blowing dust all over the mexicans position limiting his view. With a fair guess he released five aimed shots at what looked to be the machine gunners head.

The Mexican captian who had been commanding the soldiers who had feld into the tunnels heard the explosion go off behind him. Hope we got some of the bastards he thought to himself. He called out to his men "Okay, lets geto ut of here. Take the sewers west and keep going to the dump site. From there, we'll be in the jungle cover. We can keep that up until we get back to base. Move out."
The men looked up at him with weary eyes and breathed a sigh of relief. They shouldered their rifles and drained some water, then set off through the sewers.
Streets of Chetomal
The two Mexican soldiers were busy firing at the Taniuan platoon when one spotted a sniper positioning himself. One of the Mexicans pointed and the gunner turned and fired, killing the sniper. As they turned to fire back into the Platoon, sniper rounds shot in the nest. The gunner was hit dead on, falling back with a hole in his forhead. The other Mexican decided to leave the nest. He used the dust as cover and dodged out of the area, using back alleys and shadows to try and stay undected.
Under Oaxaca City
A Zapatista was escorted into the command bunker where the Mexican President was waiting. he wordlessly handed a packet over to the President. The President opened it up and rifled through it, a smile coming to his face. He turned and handed the packet to one of the generals. The general looked through the photos and walked off to send out orders.
"Photos of their military instillations as well as the coordinates. Just as you requested" The Zapatista spoke quitely.
"Thats what I saw." Said the President. "You have done well. The cash has been transferred to your account."
The man turned and walked out of room with military guards escorting him out.
Mobile Missiles base, 200 miles out of Oaxaca
A Captian sat languidly in a chair, smoking a cigarette, he had been sitting in this hell hole for almost three days, making sure that the mobile surface to surface missile launchers remained protected. They were one of the last Mexican suprises in the war against the Tanuians. The air was hot, he was sweating, and the flys were relentless. All of a sudden, the fax machine beeped at him and a short memo came through. The Captian looked at it and then ran hurridly to the launch commader, he showed the paper to him.
"Holy shit, these are."
"Yes, I know."
"Do you think its. . "
"I heard the Zapatistas have men out in the field."
"well, bless them then."
"We have orders to move now."
The Launch commander jumped up into his truck, he got onto the radio and began to issue commands. The four StS missile trucks turned on and the hydraulics groaned as the missiles were elevated. Approzimitly ten minutes mater, a deep roar began to echo through the jungle. A gout of flame shot from behind the missiles and they lept off towards the Tanuian base. Twenty-four missiles rocketed across the sky towards the Veracruz border camp.

Base Camp Oscar-Lima 998
An old veteran sergeant of wars past smoked his large cuban torpedo silently. The battery of PAC-4 Systems were only 12 out of the hundreds posted around the borders and vital military areas. These systems where currently the best anti-missile defenses the Tanian army had. A loud constant beeping sound attracted the veterans attention. He dropped his cigar as he yelled,
"Inbound vampire, everyone get to your posts!"
The Sergeant immediately went and sat infront of the radar screen. He watched intently as the long range scanners picked up the enemy missiles which origins were estimated at around the Oaxaca City area. Immediately the 48 PAC-3 Patriot Missiles, and the 12 PAC-111 lasers came to life. The platoon outside was busy getting the camoflauge covers off the missile sights. They hastily let the covers lie on the floor as the Sergeant tracked the missiles course.
"Nearing 260 kilometers, initiating active guidance systems... Systems active and tracking. Twenty four confirmed vampires, nearing 200 kilometers."
Sweat beaded down the old man's face as he eagerly eyed the red firing switch. Finally a long continious loud beep confirmed the missiles were within range.
"Firing all systems, lasers activating and heating... Missiles away."
The thunderous missiles flew out of their launchers and prepared to engage the Mexican missiles. At 175 km the missiles targeted and executed the enemy missiles. Due to their 75% kill rate only 6 Mexican missile remained air born after the Tanian missiles were launched. The Sergeant yelled out.
"The missile's trajectory is too flat and low for us to engage with lasers. Shut off active radar and alert nearby bases."
Despite the warnings the missiles still hit Base Camp Oscar Lima 998. The missiles landed in two supply depots, three barracks and one communications office. Over 243 soldiers were killed and another 784 wounded. The retaliatory strikes against the Mexicans would be underbearble.

Captain Peter Saliano watched as his expert submarine crew transmitted messages to the rest of the wolf-pack. Their voyage around South America was a difficult one, harsh currents slowed down their speed dramatically. But that was all behind them. All that stood left was the destruction of Oaxaca City. The Wolf Pack consisted of 12 Ohio Cruise Missile Submarines, and 24 Seawolf Class SSN. Each submarine had been outfitted with conventional weaponry only. Another smaller submarine task force which was imbedded with a small fleet were the only Tanian submarines in the Pacific that contained nuclear warheads. No, their mission would be much sweeter. A total of twelve Electro-Mangetic Pulse warheads were in the wolf pack. Only one of these were necesarry but due to Mexican defenses 12 would be just right. Aside from the EMP warheads, a total of 3,048 cruise missiles were fully able to launch their 1,000 pound warheads. The results in Oaxaca could only be death and destruction. But that's what President Christos planned for.

At Base Camp Oscar Lima 889 an engineer brigade arrived to clear away the debris and help build stronger defenses. In retaliation to the attack series of bombing runs hit the jungle floor, releasing tons of napalm blindly. Once this way complete a full brigade task force of 2,300 infantry made their way through the bombed out jungle. They had no armoured support, but had access to many missile and aircraft launch sequences. The brigade was reinforced by two full infantry divisions in the rear. These two divisions could provide assistance and reinforce the brigade's lines if the fighting became to fierce. This action would be the first attack in the Battle to come. All along the Veracruz/Oaxaca border hundreds of thousands of Tanians prepared for a fight never seen before in Mexico.

The soldiers continued to routinely patrol the destroyed streets of Chetomal. Armoured patrols became more frequent, due to Tanian soldiers settling down in houses, preparing fixed defenses for more possible action.

A small group of Zapatistas sat round a camp fire, warming their hands in the cooling night of the Jungle. They heard the roar of a jet and looked up unconcerned, they wouldn't register as anything significant on any sort of radar. A few more jets roared past in the distance, the soldiers began to spit some marshmellows. A jet screamed particulary close to them but they continued on unheeded. All of a sudden, they were on fire. The jungle around them ignited in flame, napalm canisters bursting and burning everything in their range. the soliders ran screaming into the burning jungle: candles in a fire.
After the bombing runs, 93 Zapatistas in patrols were caught and killed. Any remaining Zapatistas in the area immediatly evacuated to safehouses, leaving the Tanuians to search the jungle.

A Mexican skulked furtivly in the shadows of an alley, hiding from the patrols driving down the street. He peeked around the corner and looked into a window. He saw a light on and heard several voices speaking a foreign tounge. Taking another quick glance around, he tossed a gernade into a window and melted back into shadow.
In another district of the city, a Mexican dodged out of a building and dug a small hole. He laid a handmade explosive along the side, covered it with dirt, and then disappeared.
OOC: Just waiting for your missiles launch.

After the intense bombing by the Tanian aircraft returned to their base and reloaded with air to surface munitions and with 500lb and 1,000lb bombs. The leading brigade faced no resistance thus far. The occasional booby trap killed 4 soldiers and wounded five more, but other than those casualties the road through the jungle was quiet. Two more brigades were added to the left and right flank of the leading brigade. These two brigades would ensure that no enemy units were attempting to flank the Tanian lines. With that the three strong brigade moved slowly through the intense jungle humidity, awaiting the inevitable clash.

The grenade exploded killing all three men in the room. Upstairs two men heard the explosion ran down the stairs only to find their Lieutenant and two corporals with their brains and flesh splattered against the wall. They reported the incident and immediately an armoured column began searching the neighborhood with lights and with their machine guns at the ready.

The wolf-pack lay at the bottom of the ocean, silent as ever. In the TSSN Nautilus a transmission was received. Immediately Captain Peter Saliano ripped off the paper and read the transmission. It clearly stated to launch eight electro-magnetic pulse warheads toward coordinates 4-6-8-7-3-5. He checked his map, as he thought Oaxaca City was the target. He sighed and yelled out the necesarry commands. The EMP warheads would be easily able to disconnet all electricity in Oaxaca City. The results would bring the city back to the Stone Age.
With a heavy sigh he pushed the button, activating the launch sequence. Within seconds the eigh missiles were launch and moving straight for Oaxaca City.
OOC: The EMP's won't destroy underground electrical backup generators, so you can say that the President had an underground system of tunnels and caves that acted as a backup incase all the gov. buildings were bombed. The president would still be able to ask for international support from there.

The Tanuians advanced through the Jungle at a quick pace, looking for anything out of the oridnary in the mix of ash and burned trees, the result of the Napalm bombing runs. Out of nowhere, the Tanuians encountered a small group of Zapatistas. The men were unarmed and bearing the white cloth of peace.
OOC: about to play god, sorry.
The Tanuians lowered their rifles and approached cautiously. The Zapatistas however, made no move to attack. One of the Zapatistas approached, quite calmy, and began to speak in broken Tanuian (?).
"We have just recieved a runner from our elders. They have told us they made an alliance with the Tanuian forces and we are to assist you. Please take this." The man handed over a map marked with little red X's, the locations of major hidden Mexican bases.

A fired bullet zinged off the war and hit the fleeing Mexicans arm. He grimaced in pain but kept running, leaving a small trail of blood through the alley. He ran back to a sewer grate and, after looking around, lifted it. He slipped down into the sewers and traversed through them to the safe house. Roughly two hundred Mexican soldiers were crouched there, some eating, some cleaning guns, others sleeping. The Mexican soldier walked over to a clear spot, sat down, and began to bind his wounds. Nearby, some of the remaining officers had a map of Chetomal out and were planning their next major move.

The missiles streaked in over the skys of Oaxaca. By this time, the anti-air defenses had either been destroyed or their crews were dead. No resistance met the missiles. At an altitude of 1,000 feet, the missiles exploded. The low-grade nuclear payloads flashed soundlessly. Surprisingly enough, no damage was incurred. The only noticable thing was that power flickered and went dead.
Veracruz
The leader of the company, Captain Derrick Torris, immediately relayed the information the Zapatistas had given them. Within seconds twenty-five 1,000lb naval missiles were inbound to each mexican target. Large battalion size attacks against the bases were also being planned by command. The advance through the jungle continued it's slow pace, being wary of nearby mexicans is what kept you alive.

A single humvee spotted the man jump into the sewer. He was too slow with the trigger, however and missed the man. He reported the news to command, who immediately dispatched a company (240) to go down into the sewers and investiage. Within 30 minutes the company was at the scene. Five men threw fragmentation grenades into the sewer gate and waited for the explosion before enterring. Once the blast was confirmed, 22 soldiers quickly jumped in, using the smoke from the grenade as cover.

Jungles of Veracruz
[OOC: I'm assuming a thousand missiles per camp?]
The Mexican camps were large, but meant to be mobile. Everything could come down provided the order came in with enough time. However, due to their mobile nature, the camps were lightly armed. It was assumed that they would not be attacked deep within the jungle so no one really paid much attention to the lacking security. That all changed in a heart beat however.
The cruise missiles came streaking in out of nowhere. Old MDS turrets came active and began to track the missiles as best their WWII era radar could manage. With only a small amount of success, 7 missiles were shot down with the combined missiles and flak cannons. In one base however, 18 missiles landed. The five square kilometer area was imapcted within seconds by the storm of missiles. When the smoke and fre cleared, the base was leveled. A few survivors managed to crawl about looking for medical aid, but they would be dead by morning.
In another part of the jungle, a massive area had been cleared out to serve as the purpose of an air field. Various helecopters, planes, and vehicles were parked around. Most of the soldiers there were either working on the planes or in the rec room. As soon as the alarm sounded, the soldiers jumped up from what they were doing and ran. The airbase spotter towers began to run defense programs as coutner emasures were launched into the air and anti-missile cannons began to fire wildly. With a bit more preperation, the defense systems were more successful. 15 missiles were shot down this time. The remaining 10 missiles impacted around the air field. The result: every single aircraft in the Mexican force at the base was either destroyed or inoperable, most of the structural integrity of the base was also gone and the runway had been turned into a crater.
around the jungle, similar incidents were occuring at armor dumps, vehicle rest stops, and infantry camps. All in all, some 8,000 Mexican soldiers died from the attacks. The Mexicans also lost 80% of their remaining air force and 35% of all ground capability.
Chetomal
The distant bang of gernades was heard in the sewers as the Mexican soldiers were gearing up for an attack. Silently, a Colonel pointed towards the door with three fingers. Ten soldiers, all armed with machine guns, gernades, and pistols headed out. The positioned themselves at various entrance points and prepared to act as a rearguard, setting themselves to kill the incoming Tanuians.
The remaining soldiers headed out of the tunnels in another direction, trying to come up trhough the governors palace to where the could set a secure defence network for entrance and exits.
OOC: Eh, my I'm sorry, I meant 25 1000lb bombs for every camp. I forgot the pound sign. I have editted my post and you can do the same, since 25 bombs for every camp should be much less devastating than 1,000 per camp. I'll respond to the Chetomal incident.

Private Glennin turned a corner slowly, for some reason he had a bad feeling in his gut as he did so.

The advance continued as more and more Zapatista's joined in on the fight. The snail speed had quickened a bit knowing that the Zapatista's knew the way through the jungle. The two reserve divisions in the rear were getting positioned closer and closer to the main brigade. Advancing so far into Mexican land without facing hard resistance was entirely uncommon.

A local battalion of Mexican Soldiers (200) were marching through the jungle towards an ambush point when they heard approaching noises. They hunkered down behind tree, rocks, and in the dirt. Eventually, they saw a group of Tanuians heading towards them. But they were being led by . . .a Zapatista. Immediatly, a Seargent made a hand gesture towards on of his men and the man picked up a radio and began to call in the information. Immediately the more veteran soldiers came up and threw five smoke grenades around the corner. Once the grenades were at their maximum amount of smoke releasing, the grenade launcher units were brought up. Five grenades were held by each five grenade launching units. They took turns to continously barrage the enemy's suspected area. Twenty-two rounds were launched, due to two grenadiers being killed from the enemy fire. Fearing a possible RPG attack the Captain had everyone move back roughly 50 meters from the combat area, keeping the recruits and grenadiers fighting the mexicans.

The leading company into the jungle was hit hard by a fierce mexican ambush. Almost immediately upon hearing the first shot the Zapatista scout ran to a nearby boulder. A RPG hit the exact spot were he was only moments ago. The company took up traditional counter-ambush tactics. They seperated into two groups and kept to the farthest side of the jungle. Grenades and White Phospherous were thrown at the invisible enemy that continued to lay upon havoc. Machine guns established nests and were supported by LAW units who rained down anti-personel rockets into the jungle. Soldiers hit the ground and released a steady stream of fire. A total of 17 soldiers had been KIA, and 24 more WIA. Artillery batteries from base camp were being elevated and positioned to prepare for a massive barrage of the ambush site.

Onboard the Domination Class Ohio SSGN
"Captain, we have a transmission from command coming in."
The Captain walked over to the communications center. He approached Chief Petty Officer Peter Nazar.
"What is it?"
"My God... We have orders from the President to launch 2,000 more tomahawks at several mexican cities, including Oaxaca City."
The Captain thought for a moment.
"There's no use for Oaxaca, it's completely diffused. Nothing works over there."
The Captain grabbed the tranmission and read it carefully several times.
"Order the fleet to prepare bombardment wave. The orders must be carried out."
The crew onboard confirmed the satellite coordinates for the attack. With half an hour the missiles were prepped and ready. On deck of the leading submarine the Domination the Captain waited several seconds. Then he yelled out.
"Ignitiate launch sequence."
Within seconds upon his command all missiles were launched. The nearby surface fleet watched in awe as thousands of missiles poured into the sky. Suddenly after being roughly a mile out the missiles made a wide U turn. The missiles were now heading towards the fleet. Before the commanders knew what happened it was too late. The fleet was crippled, most ships were severely damaged, or in need of dire repairs. Only two minor frigates were sunk. The fleet and submarine wolfpack were ordered to the nearest base. Initial thoughts about the guidance problem was a chip defect. Others tests on missiles onboard the submarines would prove this theory wrong. When asked about the incident President Alex looked confused at his generals,
"I ordered no such attack..."
In the same city were the President slept, a dark tall man smiled as the live footage from the satellites came in. The Pacific was clear.

Deeper within the tunnels, the remaining machine gunners prepared themselves.
In a back alley of the Chetomal water treatment plant, the Mexicans silently filtered out of the ruins. They had found the sewer opening up to the top and were now preparing themselves for a major move. The commander waited until a small line of Humvees came puttering past then signaled. The battle in the jungle was going badly for the Mexican soldiers. As soon as the initial Tanuian shock wore off, they responded with heavy fire. IC:
In Christos City in the Western District a lone man sat at a dark lavishly decorated office. He slammed his fist on his desk as he read the reports. The Mexicans were surrenderring. Three billion dollars gone to waste for the destruction of government resources. It took much of the man's resources for the destruction of that Tanian fleet. So much time and energy wasted on a aborted mission. The man sighed. Those are the risks needed to achieve greatness.
Christos City; Grand Palace
Alexander Christos sat in his Grand Chamber thinking. The Mexican President was showing signs of surrenderring but that's not what troubled his mind. The cruise missile malfunction that nearly completely destroyed the Pacific Fleet was complete mystery to the president. The missile control systems were nearly flawless, and the only plausible reason for the missiles targetting the ships could be a problem with the satellite guidance. But thousands of previous missiles were launched flawlessly. This troubled the president but he shook it off, instead he thought of his glorious victory to come.

Across the Mexican Provinces
Mexican soliders who were in action began to recieve reports from commanders. Another surrender they thought, wondering how many men it would cost them this time. Instead, the commanders told them the President was travelling to Cabo St. Lucas to engotiate peace. The Mexicans began to singly, then in groups in masses, lay down their arms. The either sat, laid down on the ground, or in many cases, just wandered around not knowing what to do.
As the orders filtered through the military units in Mexico, more and more men and women began to stop what they were doing and wait to be released. Many started to celebrate the wars end, dancing in the streets, even though they had lost.
In the homes around the country side, news began to spread. Women and children waited late outside every night, hoping to see a father or brother or son coming trudging up the street. radios were tuned in as well, listening for whatever news could be found. In all of the villages and cities, an air of tension was felt. The people waited for their soldiers to be returned home.
Cabo St Lucas
The President's unarmored columnade swung slowly through the city streets, packed with curious people. His limo stopped outside of the posh Hilton Hotel, untouched (as much of the town was) by war.
Making his way inside, he went to the conference chamber in the west ball room and sat alone at one end of the table, waiting for Christos.
Cabo St.Lucas
President Christos and several of his high ranking generals walked into the old hotel building. A heavily armoured convoy establish a secure position around the building and a squadron of helicopters were in the air at all times. President Christos watched the Mexican president for several seconds before taking his seat. His generals did as well.
"Mr.President, I am sure you are tired of this war. To be honest so am I. I am tired of waiting countless nights to here reports of offensives, I fear new reports of more losses even as I sleep. I want this to end and I want it to end completely. I am demanding an unconditional surrender by your generals. That is what I am offerring. Limited negotiations may be made."
The President finished and looked back at the president.
Across Mexico
Across Mexico thousands of Tanian soldiers gathered Mexican soldiers who seemed to walk around in droves aimlessly. They gathered them into make-shift prison camps and held them there. A brigade stood watch over one single prison camp, over twenty divisions were assigned to the task of watching and maintaining the camps. The advance into Chetomal was halted due to an excess amount of prisoners. The advance was postponed by the leading general due to the ongoing peace talks.

The Mexican President (OOC: we'll name him Xavier for ease) sighed.
"We are not in a position to surrender at the moment. Of course we will submit to your will. Our conditions for limited negotiations is the continuance of the Mexican army under Tanuian command. We also want the guarentee that none of populace will be harmed any further. We would like funding to rebuild our cities, all under Tanuian managment. We would also like to keep the Mexican government which would be answerable to the Tanuian government. Please think on those, although for the moment, our forces across Mexico are surrendering unconditionally.
Christos thought for a moment. He didn't really like the options given to him but he always couldn't have what he wanted.
"The Mexican Army will continue it's existance along with twenty Tanian Army and Marine Divisions. No civilians will be harmed and we shall contribute the appropiate funds to rebuild your nation. As for the continuation of the Mexican government I somewhat will allow it. A Tanian Governor will be appointed by the Mexican people every ten years or so. He will take on the role as president and ensure everything goes smoothly. He answers only to me and the generals. Mexicans can remain in their local government positions if they wish. However, none of this applies to Quintana Roo. The Zapatistas have complete control of that province now."

"What?! Why do the Zapatistas have Quintana Roo district? They have a place in our government already, why are they granted their own district now? What happens to the Mexicans who live there? Who do they answer to?"
"The Mexicans in Quintana Roo answer to whoever the Zapatista's appoint to head their government. There will be no Tanian involvment there I can guarentee you. If any Zapatista wishes to he can join the "Mexican Government" if the leaders permit him to. Mr.Xavier time is wasting and I have more pressing issues to adjust. Do you accept the following terms of surrender we have discussed."
President Christos takes a paper and reads down the list.
"1)The Mexican National Army will continue it's service to protect the Mexico from land based assualts. The navy and air force will be handled by Tanuio. Twenty Marine and Infantry Divisions from the Tanian Army will be stationed in Mexico in order to ensure it's safetly and train the Mexican Army.
2)Damage or harm done to Mexican civilians by Mexican or Tanian soldiers is punishable by death, depending on the severity of the crime. This doesn't apply to criminals.
3)Twenty Billion squires (1.5squires=1USD) will be spent rebuilding Mexico. Another ten billion will be set aside in case the previous twenty billion are not sufficient.
4)The Mexican government will continue to exist as long as it is headed by a Mexican appointed Tanian governor. The Governor will have complete control of all branches and reports soley to the Tanian president or a Grand General. The president is the only person who can remove a Tanian Governor from office.
5)The province of Quintana Roo will remain free, the Mexican Government may not intervene in any issues pretaining to Quintana Roo unless of a direct military attack."
6)The Mexican Army is to disband completely, and will be rebuilt vastly superior under the oversee of Tanuio."
The President read the terms, and looked up.
"Well?"

President Xavier sat back in his chair and sighed. "It appeares I have no choice but to accept. Congratualtions on your victory."
Later that day, Xavier appeared on TVs across the nation and world and began his last address.
People of Mexico, pause and hear my words. For many days and nights our brave soliders, our brothers, our sons, our fathers, they have all fought an invading force brought to our shores by ships and plans, looking to conquer us as slaves. Many of our brothers died during those days, the combat was fierce but our brothers were brave. Sadly, it is my duty today to tell you that our people have not prevailed in the conflict. Our foes were too numerous, their weapons too deadly, their technology, too advanced. The Tanuians have taken Mexico, and to prevent further loss of life, the government capitualted today to the Preimer Christos of Tanuio.
Let us not see this is despair though. It is a chance to look forward into a bright future for Mexico. Despite our loss and conquer by a foreign force, we can become stronger, better than we have ever been. With restructuring under the Tanuian forces we may rebuild our cities and our roads, our economy and our armies, our culture. We have not been defeated today, we have gained a chance to become greater.
Thus, on this day, March 23, 2005, I declare the United Provinces of Mexico to be dissolved, ready to be forged anew under the Tanuian leadership.
Xavier stepped off of the podium, climbed into his waiting car, and drove away.
OOC: well, that was fun. Excellent RP there Tanuio.
The same day the Mexican President Xavier declared his defeat, President Christos also gave an address at Veracruz City.
"People of Mexico, today will be an important day for your history. Mexico will be rebuilt, streets will be stronger, more jobs will be avaliable and I can guarentee food for every Mexican to eat. This process will take quite some time but I believe with some hard work and the appropiate funds Mexico will be the greatest it's every been. True lives of soldiers from both sides have been lost but do not mourn them, for their lives shall pave the way for a greater future for all Mexicans to come. Mexico will be one of the most desirable nations in the world."
The President paused to chose his next words carefully.
"President Xavier and I have discussed the terms for Mexico and after many renovations the final draft is complete. To sum it up our government will be donating funds to the newly establish Commonwealth of Mexico. The Mexican government will continue to be run by and voted on by the Mexican people. The National Mexican Army will be completely renovated with new technologically advanced weapons and armour to protect Mexico from any foolish invaders who dare strike down in vengeance on it's soil. Mexico will be better than ever, and more important you, the people will decide who shall run this great nation."
The President stepped down and the applause of tens of thousands echoed behind him.
OOC: I'll notify Layarteb that Quintana Roo is under your control and that the thread is done. Thank you for RPing resistance and putting up such a well-thought out defence. Casualty list has had it's final update.
