Above an Unknown Planet:
The strangely shaped vessel spiraled out of control, leaving a trail of fuel, air and shortlived flames as it tore through space toward the blue planet. Its three remaining crew members struggled with its controls in a vain attempt to pull it back into a course that might not end in death.
All three Tandu (Sort of large mantids with hands) were missing limbs, either crushed, burned or simply lopped off. Behind them the headless corpse of the ships former captain was walking resolutly into a wall with a steady thump, thump, thump, while greenish blood spurted from its neck.
This was the last refuge on the ship, the rest was vacuume, and while a Tandu COULD survive in a vaccume for some time it was not a pleasant experience, especialy considering the ruptured fuel lines flooding the rear compartments of the spindly scoutship with caustic fuel.
BOOM!!!
The ship shook again, the fuel apparently contacted one of the electrical systems currently fizzing. The one functioning sensor on the ships rear showed its main thrusters plummeting away and breaking up.
The new captain clicked its mandibles in irritation and put the ships fast dwindling power supplies into its shields, possibly that would be enough to keep the ship whole, normally he would attempt to ensure the destruction of the remains of the ship, but this was a special case.
The growing rumble of turbulence shook the ship as it punched through the upper atmosphere toward a hopeful looking lake.
...
Two hours later the crew shook themselves and counted their limbs again, no major damage. They grabbed a pulse rifle each and stepped out into the light of the strange, yellow sun, and would have been wearing slightly worried expressions if their faces had been capable of any such actions.
As it was they clawed up a bank and started to ferry items out of the remains of the ship. The lake was a good deal shallower, and steam still rose from the ships forward section.
The accidents fault had lain with the captain, who was at present attempting to move though a long beam had impaled his abdomen, so a Tandu corpse was now suspended from the ceiling, walking on air, though its movements were now jerky and slow.
The captain had been attempting a manual course correction around a belt of asteroids, generaly unsafe, this belt was rather unpleasant. And sure enough it had steered them directly into an asteroids tail of interstellar detritus, which meant that chunks of rock the size of a Kr'i'thi beast had created a neat series of holes and killed most of the crew.
Leaking fuel and desperate the crew had begun to search for a habitable planet, finding only one they had set out for it, coasting along at near lightspeed, then using their remaining fuel to brake and attempt an orbit before they landed.
The final blow had been the first explosion, throwing off the scoutships course and sending it into a neardeath spiral, killing the captain when the gravity generator started fluctuating, dropping a decorative sword on him, sixteen times.
For now though, the three Tandu settled in, a portable heating unit had been set up after a good meal of some kind of odd furry deer, the skeleton of which was sitting nearby for use later.
OOC:
First off, hi! How are you? Im good.
I first posted this on NS, but nobody seemed interested in responding, so maybe Ill have some more luck here.
If you happen to be one of those Rebelled Elf puppets, dont post here, I dont want a war in this thread.
Basicaly:
The Tandu leader sent a scoutship out in search of other life, bad things happened and it crashed in a country on some planet, feel free to join.
I would prefer if these three didnt die right away befor theres any chance at peacful contact of some kind. The Tandu arent normally friendly to mammels, but a this point these fellows are kind desperate

5 Small Scout ships passed over the planet.
"My lord; evidence of recent trauma to the planet; an impact of some kind."
"Detailed Analysis?"
"A ship, sire, of yet unknown origin."
"Bring us down; contact the other ships. Have our Khornate brethern take a look; we of Slaanesh shall follow suit"
"Yes sir..."
And with that the small Chaos force dropped through the atmosphere; controlled, calm, collected; one would always think that there was some order in their method...

A Vampire Scout Cruiser on a routine exploration mission a few light years beyond the point the Shadows wished to conquer phased into real space from hyperspace. It was just in time to see five smallish ships pass over the planet... they stank of Chaos... an exhilarting smell for a Shadow vessel... the race of pure Chaos...
It looked down at the strange planet and conducting a basic scan... it indictaed it was habitable and that there was evidence of a ship crashing recently... as for survivors it indicated three very unusal life forms in contrast to the other life... they must be the survivors...
The ship sent a signal back to 'The Eye' as a form of report about the planet and the incident...

The three Tandu clicked and buzzed to each other, startled that their mini scanner had started chirping so soon. Startled they grabbed their arms and vanished into the nearby woods, staying close to the camp but undercover, their greenish exoskeletons blending very well with the surrounding flora.

A Zircon Scoutship, commonly found sweeping the galaxy in thier unending search for the enemies of Neo-Mekanta, paused as it noticed a disturbance around the planet.
The Zircon, knowing how many primatives mistaking the living vessels for asteroids tended to fire missiles, hung back for a moment, just broadcasting a message on many advanced channels, as well as psionically.

OOC: For those who know me, Don't worry most of my ST stuff will be replaced by my own stuff in a RL month or two.
An lone ECF Starship was heading through space at millions of times the speed of light. It detected a system that could have been capable of supporting life.
And it dropped out of warp, at yellow alert, just in case.
It detected a planet, with a very badly damaged ship. And a few lifeforms on the planet, that appeard to have some form of communation device. The captain made the descion to investigate in person.
They beamed down near the lifeforms, about half an mile away. They had donned there hazard Suits, which should provide decent protection from an energy weapon. Just in case. The had Compression Rifles just in case. The sniper looked into his Sniper Rifle and saw the 3 lifeforms on the Snipers scope, which was very good at detecting Senitant lifeforms. They activated the universal translator, which was an massive improvement from the old one.
The Sniper Yelled out " We come in peace! Are you in Need of Assistance?! Our ship is in orbit, we will provide whatever aid or services you need, your ship appears to be destoryed!"

The ships (new) captain blinked once or twice, astonished at humans ability to state the obvious.
It clicked something to its crew, then stumbled on in English, "We ssssthank you f-...for your assssistance, hooman. Oour ssssthip is ba-adly damasged."
The three cautiosly stepped out, their rifles held in a way that was just short of being on-guard.
OOC:
Tandu are basicaly large mantis with hands instead of bladey things, bit eyes and such. They can speak most languages though they do lack vocal chords (Same way crickets communicate, they rub their rear legs on their wings).
I dont think any sort of translator would be much help, Tandu language doesnt really resemble anything a humanoid would be capable of speaking, its mostly clicks and screeches.
Be warned that they have VERY good aim and reflexes, they move via a sort of hydraulic system instead of muscles, liquid is pumped where it needs to be to move their limbs.

OOC: My Translators are pretty good, btw my Tech is about 34th centuray
The 3 lowered there rifles and walked closer to the strange beings. The Translator beeped to life. " You appear to be injured, we wish to beam you up to our starship we can fix you up. We would also like to host a formal dinner for you. Our captain is always interested in meeting a new race." His sniper was lowered but the creature seemed to scare him.

The sniper slinged his rifle over his sholder, with his hazard uniform on and the glowing TED over his eyes, he looked like a real badass. Though it looked like they needed medical attetion but he didn't give a 2nd thought to it> "Munro to Enterprise E 6 to beam up." And with that the 6 beings dispeered.
They ended up in the Sleek interior of an Federation Starship, it was about 700m long and had all the basics you would find in an ECF ship. It was comfterble and ultrialin at the same time. They were lead to an conferance room where an full crouse dinner was waiting and the captain was waiting. They all sat down. He looked a bit scared by the aliens, he greeted them " Always good to meet a new race, so please tell me how you ended up in this backwater area of space? Don't worry we are working on getting the communications array back on, it went down after a computer crash.

The three had arranged their abdomens into a sort of mobile chair, folding them around and crossing their two sets of legs, to any human it would look quite uncomfortable.
This close it was possible to notice the caste markings in purple on the heads and arms of the Tandu, the captains were moderatly fancy, the other two had what appeared to be part of the same pattern, but to a lesser extent.
Remembering something the Humanoid Relations Office had taught it, the captain held out a three-fingered hand.
"Aye am (Series of clicks and tweeting-noises), Aye doo not sthink thes translate ento your languaaage."

The captain shook the strange aliens hand. The command staff looked dumbfounded, prehaps from the shock of seeing an alien race that was so different.
The captain looked out the window to see the Zicorn scoutship " maybe thats not such a good idea" He thought to himself. Hes heard roumers about them and is not excatly pleased with them, they were far to "out there".
" If you want to contact the other ships then feel free, but I suggest you contact your homeworld before they realize whats happened to your ship, which by the way my engineer took a scan, it's beyond repair. The communications array is back on, just tell the computer where to send the single and talk, the computer will pick it up."

"We are aware, we think the engines are most likely entering the atmosphere now. They exploded when the fuel lines ruptured and caught fire. I will contact Tandu."
The capain entered a conversation with the computer as to the location of Tandu IV, and sent a situation report.

The Vampire Scout cruiser recieved it's instructions, it was to go down and make contact with these creatures they seemed to be of unusual biology.
It descended gracefully, not indicating the fact that it's death ray and quantum cannon were actually armed and ready to fire in a fraction of a second. The organic black shimmering skin and the general shape of the ship made it look truely alien even insectoid. It stopped just above the place of landing and hovered there studying these creatures and listening to the communications sent between the ships and them...

The Five ships tore through the atsmophere, screaching as they plunged to Earth; orbed in fire, swathes of jungle incinerating as the roar of jets scorched the surrounding foliage.
Chaos Space Marines, loyal Nurgle and Khorne, bearing the Marks of their Dark God; poured out, 30 in all.
The planet seemed uninhabited; but they had detected something...And even know the Psyker, the Sorcerer amongst them, sensed something.
And their roars of bloodlust and dark prayer echoed through the area

This planet was one of the few untouched, not that a planet mattered much to the Imperium, space was home, and home was space, planets were just obstacles, obstacles to the Imperium.
Now, Undisturbed for so long, the system was defiled, not by one, not by two, but three unknown's, Along with the Zircon, but they were a friend, a neutral, of sorts, for now.
The rupture of subspace foretold the entry of a vessel, high above the planet, specks of red intermittent among the black foreboding ship slipping out of the rupture.
To most, it could not be seen, except for the the red lights, telling there must be something there, the blackness was illuminated slightly, as engines powered forwards.
A simple relay with the satellite nearby, one crashed unknown, 2 Other unknowns, those who could would feel the wrath of the Imperium.
The message was compiled, and sent.
"All Trespassers of the Imperium, Except those of known (Read ESUS associated in anyway, thats you, Zircon boy, as neo is associated with normal Mekanta, and thus ESUS ;).) origin, must leave immeaditly, or be destroyed."

"Spread out, find the crashed vessel....We will see what they have to offer and then we may leave; if not, well, the gods will drink deep today! And Khorne will be exalted!"
"Spare us your zealotry..." A low hiss came forth as a champion of nurgle came forth; decrepit, thinned and diseased, his skin pale with an almost yellow hue.
"Grandfather Nurgle will reap this victory on the winds of most glorious plague..."
"Regardless; we will triumph"

The Captain Seemed pissed " If you want the shit that was down there then go down and get it, I don't have time to waste. Above the planet, three cylindrical, small craft, appeared out of H-space. Their engines flared green, and they themselves had a greenish glow around them, but other than that oddity, they were realtively low-tech.

"I dont suppose we could claim diplomatic immunity? Anyway, may we offer a solution? Part of the Tandu fleet will be arriving soon, likely with an official diplomatic envoy, since we informed them that numerous nations were represented here.
Would it be possible to hold of hostilities until we have departed? We realize that war is not so strictly govorned anymore, but is it not considered appropriate to allow noncombatants to depart before commencing a battle?"
Even as he spoke two Tandu destroyers popped into existance close by. They had the appearance of a skeletal robotic dragonfly, sticklike and angular. As with most a Tandu ships they disdained armour for increadible speed and power, especially for capital ships.
Each one was well equipped with a number of conventional energy weapons, as well as an array of the more disturbing probability weapons and psionic projectors.
"You will transport our crew members to our ship now, you are not to communicate with them any further. Arrangements for a diplomatic confrence will be made but until then anybody harming a Tandu citizen will be regarded with extreme hostility. We are not joking."

One of our battlecruisers will be jumping in-system in a moment, on board is a high officer of the Fleet. You may address him about any futher concerns."
Just as he finished talking, another rift opened in space and an elongaded, step-down, conical ship appeared. The end of the cone protruded into the muzzle of a massive cannon, and missile and cannon turrets swiveled on the flanks and top of the ship. The underside held three nuclear missile silos, all of which were closed. The ship had the same green sheen as the destroyers.

The battlecruiser deployed long-range communications gear and began to transmit a secure signal to the Tandu ships.
"This is the Concordiat 3rd Group flagship Unyielding Fist. We are here to learn:
1. Who the Tandu are? Are you willing to sign a temporary no-fire pact?
2. What this planet is and who it belongs to.
3. Why the ECF takes such an intrest in the planet.
4. The human presence was here before us. What awesome power brought them here faster than our Rift engines...or were they already here?
5. The possiblity of colonizing worlds.
If you could possibly answer any of these questions, please do. Our sensors detect more ships than just the Tandu and the ECF...what other nations have a presence here? The crashed ship, was it a warship?"
The battlecruiser's docking bay doors opened, and several-thousand dropships spead from the bay and towarsd the planet, making firey ionized streakes in the atmosphere.

The two corvettes were passing by the system, with no business at all to complete there. In actuality, they were late for a rendezvous with a battlecruiser that would help them complete their current mission.
"Captain," the operations officer called, "there's a lot of activity going on in the system. I count four... no, five ships in orbit around one of the planets."
The captain had a great curiousity for many things, and thought about heading over to see what the problem was.
"Disengage the Teldra. Take us into the system. Notify the Ariake to follow us in. I'm sure Captain Sato is thinking the same as I am."
The ships--cloaked, as a standing order of travel-- entered the system and arrived at the planet.
"Let's hang back awhile," the captain said, as the planet and ships came up on the viewscreen. "We'll see how this plays out."

The Captain Seemed alot more pissed than usal. He gave the order to his officer to beam the 3 over to there own ships.
" Well are you happy? I beamed your 3 crew members about 3 meters away from you. Now What else do you want?"
He Spoke to the Tactial Officer " Bring the QC Reactor to full power and bring sheilds and weapons online, But don't fire on anyone. I want the Quantum Beams online and bring the Phaser Banks up to 12,500,00 Terajoules. And bring Torpedobays online, get me Sheilds now."
The other ships would have detected a massive power surge in the ships systems, like a Sun was going to go nova but it did not happen. Little did they know that ECF starships have been able to hold off multi enemy capitalships, this was no scout ship, this was a state of the art warship.
The Captain spoke to the other ships. " I do not want to fight, but it appears we seem to be in a pickle, who wants this planet? It doesn't show up to be claimed, so I suggest we work it out."

"Captain, one of the ships is powering up its weapons," the tactical officer reported.
"Is there any reason to think they've detected us?"
"No sir. None of the ships has taken a stance to counter our position."
"Prepare weapons systems. Raise the alert level. We'll stay here as long as we're undetected. See if we have any Ryukus near here. We'll relay a message to them."
There was one Ryuku on its way to the same rendezvous point as the corvettes. It reversed course and set up at the edge of the system. Although the Ryukus could transmit messages more efficiently than the regular ships, save for Lord Kentaka's personal ship, their primary job was intercepting other messages and acting as mobile listening posts. Their cloaking devices were also the best in the fleet, again save for Kentaka's ship.

The three destroyers are already gaining flank angles. We await your command, or until the others decide it for us."
The battlecruiser's main gun traced a bead on the powering up ship, and the destroyer's thrusters spead them around the flanks of the enemy. Their nuclear missile silos opened, and several countermeasure pods deployed from their sheaths and awaited decoupling and detonation signals.
Several dropships raced towards the surface, but one broke off. It headed for the S'k'tja for the conference. The other ships landed and troops and tanks began to deploy. The Concordiat Army was completely obsessed with tanks, and many of the vehicles unloading were the massive Guderian II heavy tanks, which Concordiat generals called the Slicer-and-Dicer

Ever read the Uplift series by David Brin? I sort of based it off of his species of Tandu, but I took some from the Predators.

BTW, theres two of their ships right now.

It will be explained in the ECF factbook, due out after xmas. But I'm going to pull a 'jump' which means My ship will be leaving you universe, but I don't want to do it.

"The confrence is being held upon the ship with the beacon activated. We will hold it here if the Arenumberg military will allow us, this would be most convienient and would not affect their planet. We wish to establish peaceful contact with the galaxy and it seems a fair number of its peoples have shown up here.
If they will not allow us to host it here we will transmit the coordinates of Tandu IV to you and hold the confrence there. It is a rather inconvienient distance away."
The Fleet Commander, meanwhile, was chewing the former captain out.
"YOU TOLD THEM WHAT!?"
"I attempted to conceal as much as possible, secrecy was our goal."
"Fah! You are unworthy of your caste markings. The Progenitors gave US the divine right to rule the Galaxies, we do not make friends with the meatbags! You have failed, as such you are commanded to go to my quarters and remove your head. There with your last impulse place it upon my trophy rack."
The (former) captain bowed.
"May the next one I grow serve you better."
It walked out.

The first thing a person would notice on entering a Tandu ship would be the temperature.
The Tandu prefer an atmosphereic temperature of 50-65 degrees farenheit, it helps them relax.
The next thing would be the total lack of decorations of any sort, the walls were totaly blank aside form an occasional direction in Tandu. The walls themselves were either steel gray or purpleish, depending on the section of the ship. The cooridors were a bit wider than those of a normal Human ship, mostly to accomidate longer Tandu who would be unable to turn without some trouble.
The room where the delegates were meeting was slightly warmer and had plants in it, but since the High Council had no idea what sort of beings they were going to be meeting they had forgone much decoration. Two Tandu guards stood at the door, beam rifles shouldered.
There was a trophy rack as well, with what appeared to be a very old Homo Erectus skull on it, as well as a number of other more unidentafiable bones and stuffed corpses.
Tandu Ambassador Kree'chi'it reclined in a Tandu style chair (A sort of couch, occasionaly popping a wriggling morsel into his mouth, which squeaked loudly as he crunched it with his mandibles.
When the ECF ambassador arrived he rose and welcomed him in English, much better pronounced (almost no accent) than the late captain of the recon ship.
"Greetings, Human. I am Kree'chi'it, appointed Ambassador of Tandu, the Progenitors chosen ones. I greet you and grant you a seat, until the time when further delegates arrive we will have to abstain from deliberations of international issue."

The crew had determined that a sort of summit was happening on one of the newer ships to the system. Not to be without a presence, the captain decided to send a delegation over as well. It would be silly to launch a shuttle while cloaked-- they might as well just decloak at that point. But that would be giving too much away, the captain thought, so they would do it the hard way.
"Conn, take us to the far side of the next orbiting planet and launch a shuttle. Send Lieutenant Commander Masuko, and a Tekken along with him."
The Tekken were Crimson Sparta's latest advancement in robot technology, with the ability to complete millions of complex computations, all while crushing an opponent's skull. They were large and powerful, but also smart, and built to be loyal to the Crimson Sparta chain of command.
The ship moved out of position and flew towards the outer edge of the nearest planet. It stopped and assumed a similar orbit with the planet. The docking bays opened and an Archangel-class shuttle emerged from it. The Archangel was the only shuttle with FTL capability, and it might be needed to explain how the ship arrived at this destination.
The corvette took up a defensive position behind the shuttle. If it was attacked, the captain was sure to drop cloak and respond. However, this seemed like a peaceful meeting, and all hoped it would stay that way.
Masuko hailed the ship that was receiving shuttles. "Attention vessel, we request docking to attend your conference. I have myself and a robot translator onboard. Please respond."

"Acknowledged."
The ship's navigational computer lit up with a map of the ship and a red flashing dot on top of docking bay six. Masuko let the computer take control and pilot the ship in while he sat back and looked around at the ships that were present.
The docking procedures were compete, and Masuko walked out with the Tekken at his side. The guards met them and showed very little surprise to a "translator robot" that was almost as tall as they were. Of course, they didn't have it so bad as Masuko, who, while tall at an even 6 feet, felt like a midget compared to the large bugs and robot.
They were taken to a conference room and found another party that had arrived. While this man had brought armed guards with him, Masuko hoped that the Tekken would be seen as a helper and not as a threat-- though the other humans wouldn't be much of a threat at all to the large insects in close combat. Pleasantries were exchanged, and the commander sat down with the Tekken standing behind him.

The Tandu ambassador watched the guards strange behaviour, he had heard of rabies. He was wondering if it was contagious.
He greeted the Spartan delegation, gaze hovoring on the robot for a short time, then told them to take a seat. He continued his previous conversation, gesturing for the Spartants to join when they felt like it.
"Anyway, the Tandu are currently interested in establishing embassies with the outside Galaxy, as well as trade agreements and alliances. There may be rich reward in the trade contracts, the Tandu possess...interesting artifacts and art, as well as abundant natural resources, and while our genetic skills are not what they were two thosand years ago we are still quite capable."

This was by far the most boring thing Masuko had ever lived through. It was like taking the Diplomacy Class at the Academy, taught by a pompous windbag that probably wrote his dissertation on the social ramifactions of using a salad fork instead of a dessert fork. He had failed that class, and he soon made that point clear.
"I didn't come here for a pissing contest, gentlemen. I really don't care whose economy is better or whose dick is bigger. The point is that the Tandu are here, and are offering trade and diplomatic treaties. We wish to have...contacts in the outside galaxies, several thosand years of isolation have left our planet somewhat isolated from the Galactic Mainstream.
There is a basic summary of Tandus resources, what we can offer in trade and how far we are willing to go with diplomatic treaties. Some of the High Councils basic policies and latest actions."
A small screen rose in front of each seat of the table, displaying a number of lists in badly translated English. The list of resources displayed a few elements which were not found at all on Earth, some which were very rare. The list contained a number of mercenary services, and an ecological survey team. Most of the rest was the normal 'Iron for $whatever per pound, a few rare materials were avalible for a good price though.

However we do have several insetlations inside this universe. We are looking for trade contacts, however we could also use military allicanes as well. Though now that looks like it would never happenm, with ships like this, However I would be quite interested in some of these elements, I've never even heard of some of them. "My people used to come from Earth, but our population grew too fast for us to contain the sprawl. We conquered many lands in the search for new living space, but finally we bordered up right with our closest allies. We didn't want to fight them, and we couldn't build high-rises fast enough. So instead of risking war with our brothers-- at least what they used to be-- we left Earth for a new home.
"Crimson Sparta still has close ties to Earth and the surrounding systems, and a trade route has been established between many nations and ourselves. As for military alliances, we have no interests in that area. We and our current allies can defend ourselves well enough.
"However, we have many outposts where we would welcome your people. We have many shops and places to live on those stations, and there would be a wealth of knowledge you can learn about human interactions while you're there. You can catch up on the time you lost while in isolation very quickly."

Masuko was hesitant to agree to such a hastily-drawn treaty. Either they drew it up before the parties arrived, or they were a haphazard species. Neither of those reasons gave Masuko any reason to trust them.
