Mexico City (AP)- Today, after a 6 year revolution, Eduardo Alvarez, leader of the New Liberty Party, has taken control of all of Mexico. Committed to establishing a "Free Republic" based on liberty for all Mexicans and security, he pledged to "rebuild our land, and especially help the native peoples, harmed by the past regime so much, to restore their dignity."
In response to this movement, President Gordon Lew of Upper Xen has announced his "full and undivided" recognition of the Free Republic, and has secured permission from the government there to send USD$2,000,000,000 worth of medical and food aid.
"With this act, I hope to bring liberty and peace to the peoples of Mexico," he said. "This act, we hope, will be the beginning of a new and prosperous era in Mexican history."
Also, under a recently signed agreement, the Presidents of the two nations have agreed to "join our forces in common defense." To this end, Upper Xen has pledged to build several naval and air bases in Mexico, and the Free Mexican government has pledged to join with the Xenizen Army in "Operation Peace Coral," a joint exercise in the Yucatan.
Reaction to the recoginition of the Free Republic has been mixed, but has been greeted with great enthusiasm, especially in the Southern states of Mexico, such as Chiapas, that had suffered under the old regime.
