DATELINE SOFIA, BULGARIA–

With recent allegations of government corruption and brutality coming to light here in Sofia, it was no real wonder that yesterday’s election resulted in a landslide victory to the Bulgarian Reform Party (PRB). Though the results have not been certified yet by the government’s Bureau of Elections and Census, there is little doubt among many that a revolution of sorts has taken place.

Running on an energetic platform of internal reforms to corrupt government offices and bureaus, PRB Presidential candidate Alexi Tatyanov has often been criticized by international media as having ambitions above and beyond Bugarian borders. An unidentified high-level source with the United Nations is quoted as stating “If Tatyanov truly is the next Bulgarian president, we can expect much more activity throughout the Black Sea.”

As a former member of the Bulgarian Army’s Special Intelligence Directorate, Tatyanov was known both for his occasional disdain for democracy and his concern for the Bulgarian people. Though he helped bring about the first Bulgarian elections in 1990, Tatyanov soon found himself imprisoned by the newly elected regime. He emerged from prison as the new star of the Reform Party, running a charismatic campaign.

Already, Tatyanov has announced plans to rename the country Angelico, allegedly because of his belief in the historical intervention of God into the affairs of the people of the crossroads nation. Inside sources within the PRB also point to future reforms to the Bureaus of State Affairs and Defense, even a complete reorganization of the military along more western lines. What will happen next? Only time will tell.

OOC: This is an attempt by a relatively experienced player to get back into the game with a new country. We’ll start things off slow. If there’s a territorial dispute over Bulgaria, we can work things out. Either through disputed elections, Rp out some armed conflict, or just presuming that we’re not talking about the same Bulgaria.
