"Across the Tyrrhenian Sea lay the unconquered lands of Sardinia. It holds strategic importance in the Mediteranian, not to mention abundant resources. We should send our Glorious Legions to her shores to pacify her, and bring her people into the Empire!"
The Senate erupted in cheers as the Senator adjusted his white robe and sat back down on the padded marble bench. Moments later, the cheering died down and another Senator stood. The robe hide his skinny framw, and several whisps of white hair failed to hide his baldness. He coughed as if to get everyone attention then spoke allowd.
"Sardinia would make a fine addition to the Empire, however, who might the senate propose to go on such a mission? Such an important Island will surely be attractive to other Nations as well."
The Senate was silent for a minute or two, no one seeming to want to put forth a name. Then as if sent by The gods himself, newly appointed General Sidious Ithicus walked into the Senate courtyard. He had just returned from The Campaign in Switzerland, and had been givin his own command when the 10th legion was formed only weeks ago. All at once the Senators rose to their feet and began to cheer. First they praised the Gods for answering their problems, then they praised Sidious for his galantry on the Swiss campaign. It wasn't until they had all calmed down that he was informed that he was to receive his first official duty as General. He was to lead to Legions across the Tyrrhenian sea and occupt Sardinia. AFter this Island nation was secured, he was to move north across the slim channel and take Corsica.
two Days later....
The Legions had been mobalized, and today they departed. They marched through Rome in a great display of Military Prowess, and the people loved it. They were cheering for Sidious, for the Emporer, and for the Empire. They marched all throughout the city and down to the Harbor, where 50 Ships awaited them for departure. Less then 5 hours later, the Legions were boarded and the fleet had set out to sea...
