ROME- Roman Emperor Rodin Hartian announced today that his government will invest billions of coins into the provinces of Niger and Jordan today in an effort to improve their economies.

"Niger and Jordan have provided valuable resources to the Empire," said Hartian. "However, years of neglect have left the countries as shells of their former selves, and it is my duty to restore them to prominence".

The two provinces, the poorest in the Roman Empire, voted heavily for Hartian, who ran on a campaign to improve the overall economic health across the Empire, including in its poorer districts. Hartian says that the previous Emperor, Paul XII, "willfully neglected" the provinces to push needless programs that only pushed the tax rate higher and businesses out of Rome. Jordan was said to have suffered the most, as the province lost some 30% of jobs in Paul's twelve years of rule.

However, as Hartian said, the provinces' state is fixable. "They have the infrastructure needed to have a viable economy," said Hartian. "They just need massive renovations. Things like a working computer network, a quality road and rail network, buildings that will stand, and up to date supplies, among other things," he said. "Niger has for years operated with third class facilities for the production of its textile industry, for example. This has led to poor quality clothing that very few within the Empire have bought. However, if we invest in improving the facilities, Niger would be quite capable of producing quality textile products, and, in a few short years, would be able to more than double its economic output on this product alone. Imagine what we could do if we invested in everything."

Hartian said that the building projects will begin within the month, with the importation of first-rate equipment to begin in the next week.

Palermo based "CoTravel Inc." has started constructing a 1100 room luxury hotel on the Jordanian Dead Sea coast worth more then $2,7 billion dollars. The hotel, that is to be called "Al Mazra'ah Dead Sea Roman Resort", is situated right outside the city of Al Mazra'ah and will employ over 4000 people when it's finished. Other then the CEO, who are Cottish, we will be hiring local manpower only. The hotel is expected to be finished in two years time, and will employ 7000 construction workers. The airport will also need to be updated in order to handle Boeing 767 commercial jets.

Cotland will cover 50 % of the costs (1,35 billion). The rest will be payed by CoTravel Inc. and (hopefully) Rome.

The Stanley based textile company "Textiles R Us" wish to open factories in Niger, where we will spin the wool from East Falkland into clothes for sale on the international market. After a long time looking for a suitable place to send the wool, we decided on Niger. A major factor in the decition was the reputation of Niger making high-quality clothes. We want to start up factories in Tahoua and Djado, thus creating 1500 jobs in each city. The airports in the cities will also need updates, since we will be flying the wool in using Boeing 747 (cargo version) aircraft. The construction will also create jobs, since we need to build the factories and airports. The whole project is expected to cost $2,3 billion dollars, and half of that amount will be worked into the Cottish national budget.

The construction is expected to take 2 years. We expect a call from the Roman government any minute now.

******Official Communique To Cotland******

The Roman government will pay for the infrastructural updates (including airport updates) but will only cover other operational expenses if it is an emergency. Having said that, we thank and encourage Cotland for investing in our provinces.

The infrastructual updates that will be covered by Rome is estimated to cost approx. $400 million. The Cottish government will pay 50% of the remaining sum, and the businesses in question will pay the remainder. We appreciate the opportunity to do business with Rome, and hope for more chances in the future.
