For 3 years Communist Likon experienced complete peace. Once again the continent of Likon was rejoined after 300 years of war. The Capitalist Principality of Lipvinity was no more, having been annexed after a civil war with itself, ending in a successful Marxist domination of the North from the South, and a subsequent union with Communist Likon, ending in a complete unification.
For 3 years peace reigned in the land. Until now.
Reports have come in from the Northern most city of Likon, the city of Agres, from the province of Lipvinity. It is said that a consorteum of businessmen, in hiding since the joining of the land have begun an insurrection funded by wealth investedd in foreign nations.
These businessmen calling themselves "The Shadow Council" have at least 2,000 followers in Agres alone and growing, with state of the art weaponry. The elected mayor of the city and elected premier of the province have both been captured and hung in the city centre with dozens of other local government officials.
The Conductor of Communist Likon James Ninel, has declared that this insurrection cannot persist, and that the only change of government in any area will come from the ballot box. Already he has denieed the Shadow Councils demands for an independent Capitalist North Lipvinity state, has begun to mobilise the local sections of the Red Army, and has also asked the Shadow Council to use less of a cliched name.
The Shadow Council has not declared terms for negotiation, but has begged for international help. Several smaller uprisings have occured but none so far successful. The Shadow Council has in particular begged for arms, and heavy artillery.

"Gentlemen" The President of the Physiocrats started to the members of the board that ran the nation. "If we help these brave capitalist men in their fight for freedom, against the evil oppressive communist scum maybe later we can gain back what we invested in lucrative trade contrtacts".
The members of the board nodded in assent. "Excellent" The President continued" for now we shall send some small arms and some artillery, and maybe a few 'advisors' to keep us abreast of the situation?"

Today in the first major action between the Shadow Council and the Red Army, a Legion of 5,500 red Army infantry members were ambushed on the road to Agres. It is believed that the Shadow Army has grown in number to upwards of 20,000 in Agres alone. Of the Legion, it is estimated that at least 3,000 soldiers died in fighting, with another 1,300 executed after being captured. The remaining soldiers escaped to the city of Kresw and sent a report to the capital, shortly before the Shadow Council led another uprising in that city.
The estimated civilian death toll of these two uprisings alone is placed conservatively at 50,000 with beliefs that it could be much higher.
Fears have been raised in the nearby city of Dunehagen that another uprising will soon take place, as that will strategically place the shadow council in control of the entire Northern half of the island of province Lipvinity.
It is rumoured that Concuctor Ninel has experienced difficulty in raising troops in North Lipvinity, as most are reluctant to fight against there fellow countrymen.
50,000 troops from the mainland of Likon have been prepared to move to Lipvinity, as well as 1,000 T-81 and T-85 Tanks. The authorities are reluctant to conduct either naval or air bombardments of the areas under Shadow Council control for fear of civilian casualties.

The Communist Empire of Avios offers its support to Communist Likon. The bright flame of communism should not be allowed to be extinguished from that continent by these rebels. We offer military equipment, particularly infantry fighting vehicles, and even reserve forces if it will help a fellow enlightened nation.

The Shadow Council seems to have great support in the nation, however contact with them ahs been difficult. Advise more ammunition and small units of men to be sent to the Shadow Council. The land seems to be rich and bountiful, with oil and argarian economic possibilities. A good profit could be gained from this nation.
Cannu put down the report. The Physiocrats was still a young nation, but the aspirant dictator needed a war. He needed something to suspend the board that judged his running of the country indefinatley. And a short war with a Communist horde would do such a thing.
Cannu knew what he would have to do, picking up a secure phone to the SSC HQ he gave his orders
"Send someone important to the Shadow Council rebel area, make sure some communists kill them."

The President of Laskon has prepared to make a statement regarding the rescent uprisings and the "shadow council."

President:
"Now our country has never been in direct support of communist nations, but the fact of the matter is, the liberation of a communist country does not, repeat, does not need to be attained through the deaths of government officials and civilians. The death toll in the war is rising, and by god if we're going to sit and do nothing to stop these terrorists from there "Shadow war."


Laskon has sent:
5 battalions of 1000 men each to help in peacekeeping measures, they are armed with M16 A-2s and full body armor.

5 squardrons of KA-52 Alligator attack helicopters

10 special operations units armed with O.I.C.W.s and M24 sniper rifles


President: Our hope is to keep the peace and somehow get negotiations going along. That is all."

Premier Pelican of Avios is slightly confused by the actions taken by Laskon. The addition of capitalist forces to this crisis can only cause more problems. The solution is to put down this capitalist rebellion and work towards the liberation of established capitalist nations.

Avios will wait for official permission from Likon before deploying any forces to the region.

The most decisive action yet has been taken by Conductor Ninel, who has surrounded the coast of the land held by the shadow council with 17 destroyers, 12 Cruisers, 6 Submarines, and 4 battleships, in a decisive effort to keep out the troops of Laskon.
In a speech maded earlier today the Conductor has announced plans for a full-scale mobilisation of the Red Army, and has proposed emergency legislation to cancel parliamentary rule for the duration of the crisis, which would effectively place him in full control of Communist Likon. The Senate and Chamber of the People will vote on this later today.
The speech also warned foreign Capitalist nations away from the dispute upon threat of conflict, yet has welcomed any and all help offered by Communist nations such as Avios.
The Red Army has already deployed 50,000 troops from the mainland in Lipvinity, and is preparing the mobilisation of a further 250,000 troops, and 4,000 tanks.

Time ticked on in Dunehagen. Security forces had been preparing the city, but with only 2oo military personel, half the police force of 6,ooo men, and a militia of 2,ooo untrained locals, the Communist governing forces knew if a full scale attack came from either within or without the city, they would not be able to sustain the defence for long.
Last night, the mayor had been assassainated in his bed along with his wife of 17 years. The Shadow Council was rumoured to have many supporters anxious to claim this city, and be in full control of North Lipvinity.
Captain Casp, the highest ranking military official in the city waited at the town hall in the centre of the city. Once a summer palace for the former king of Lipvinity, it had a commanding view of the city, and from the top balcony he could see all of the city.
A gunshot came, and sent men scrambling.
"Send a message to Danube, let them know its begun!" He yelled at a communications officer nearby. Casp begun his orders.
Within 3 hours it was nearly over. More than 6o,ooo men from within the city, and at least 2o,ooo frrom without had entered the city and fought the communist forces. A few thousand more men had joined Casp's forces, which now totalled around 5,ooo, but it was not enough. All his men who could, retreated to the city centre, which had clumsily erected barricades around it.
The Shadow army retreated. Without heavy artillery to break the barricades, it would be suicide to charge the enemy guns, no matter what their numbers.
The fighting slowed, and ceased. The Shadow Army satisified themselves by capturing, torturing all suspected communists, and all officials they could find. The rape of these mens wives and daughters became common. The Shadow Army waited, they could afford to.

A new statement by the President of Laskon:

"We will not take this abuse from these tyrannical men, the fact is, we had no intentions of going in violently, but these measures that the enemy has put out will just convince us more that stopping these men is the correct choice."

Laskon has prepared to mobilize a bombing of the shadow army's base using napalm in B-52s

A secret SOCOM strike force was also launched to attempt assasination on the Shadow Council. This information was withheld from the public. Their numbers and weapons are classified by the government, they will commence their mission after the bombing.

A new statement from Laskon threatening to bomb the Shadow Army's bases with Napalm has been violently rejected by Conductor Ninel.
In a speech to the senate Ninel stated "We will not allow the bases of the Shadow Council to be bombed, as those bases are in the city centres. We do not want to do this ourselves let alone have another natuio do it. Any help offered from Laskon is greatly appreciated, and I hope for a continuing friendship between our two nations. But I simply cannot allow this to happen, and any Laskon aircraft spotted over Likon without official clearance WILL be shot down."

Laskon has announced that the mobilization of the bombers will be stopped, but peace-keeping measures will be take more seriously, as 10,000 more troops will be sent to assist the red army in its city defenses.

I, Portable 6, sympathize with the Communist Likon and Laskon. In doing so I will supply Laskon with 50 battalions of 1000 soldiers. They are armed with AK-47's and body armor. Also I shall supply 200 tanks to the cause as well.

A news report by Lance Cant from LNN in Communist Likon:

"Earlier today in the land of Communist Likon, Marines from the 7th Division, Led by General Noah Kaye, attack a Shadow Army encampment, first hitting the base hard with morters and MK-19s, completely demolishing the bases supplies and vehicles. As the marines made their slow battle through the base, they shot and killed over 120 soldiers and captured 57 terrorists. Five Laskonian Marines were killed and six were wounded. The President of Laskon made a statement saying he hoped this showed the "revolutoinaires" that he meant business here in Likon. Obviously this is only the beginning of the bloodshed for this increasingly hostile war."

In response to the travesties committed by the group calling themselves “The Shadow Council” against citizens of Likon, the Communist Empire of Avios is obliged to declare war against the Shadow Council. The Avioan Armed Forces have mobilized a force of two hundred infantry fighting vehicles and five thousand infantry, some of which are trained for special operations.

Already advance infantry units are being sent to the hot zone via helicopter. The bulk of the force is loading on transports and is preparing to head out. In other news, Avios has made plans to carry CLCommunityNews on its state-controlled network. The headlines alone are interesting.

The U.S.S.S would like to support/aid its communist brother.We can offer $1 million for wepons,foods,and/or vehicles.If you wish we will also send our 7th fleet which consists of 4 aircraft carriers,7 destroyers,4 battle ships,12 transport ships[unarmed and un armored except for an anti-aircraft on the bow],and 2 subs.If you want we will also offer some troops for an amphibous landing since the transports are designed for beach landings.They are armed with MP-5's and handguns with all of their own supplies.

"As if in response to the sudden upheaval of support Likon has gotten in the war, Laskon's forces have been making a steady path through enemy lines towards their island stronghold, engaging hundreds to thousands of the "Shadow Army" along the way. The bloodiest fighting happened today in the wee hours of the morning, just two miles away from my current position on a field that know is still surely stained with blood and shell casings. Over 1500 members of the shadow army were engaged by 2000 Laskonian troops on their way to a supply camp. The two forces traded small arms fire until the Laskonian commander, Colonel Jay Tapic, ordered 15 Alligator attack helicopters to lay down a sweeping rocket and machinegun fire. After the helicopter assault, the enemy fell into disarray and the marines gave chase until nearly all of the shadow army members were captured or killed. We still don't have a specific number of dead and wounded on both sides, but this is definitely a victory for the forces of Laskon. This is Lance Cant signing off, back to you Jane."

Paul Nilats laughed. The leader of the 12 man Shadow Council enjoyed the Laskon news reports. The stories of his soldiers being slaughtered wer not ones he encouraged, but overall they worked quite well. The peasants of the region that Laskon was slaughtering was slowly turning the tided of public opinion in the Shadow Councils favour in the countryside. So far the only concentration of the Shadow Councils power was in the two cities under his control.
The refusal of the government forces in Dunehagen to collapse and give him total control of North Lipvinity was a constant irritation, but a minor one.
In his strategically placed HQ, Nilats turned to the other members of the council.
"What are our current local numbers?"
Jason Stern, his second in command replied "Currently 300,000 sir, but growing all the time. The cash incentives are comming in very handy."
"Excellent. What about the Likon troops?"
"They've only just fully disembarked. They will be able to engage in a few hours. But they've ruled out naval and aerial bombardment, for fear of killing civilians. However away from the cities i doubt they will have such inhabitions."
"Good. Well first things first, we must extend the fight. Send a team of 2,ooo past the Laskon lines into Priston, the Lipvin capital!"
Stern was shocked. "Into South Lipvinity sir?"
"Yes Stern, we'll start another uprising there, and then attack the concentration of Laskon troops. We'll broaden the front for when the brunt of the Red Army arrives. You have your orders Stern."
"Sir" Stern replied, and readied a squad for the advance into Priston, and an army of 150,ooo as well as 150 artillery pieces confiscated from the North Lipvinity Red Army garrison against the armies of Laskon.

It was a cool, foggy morning as General Noah Kaye and Colonel K. Jewlrys look over the 14,000 Laskonian troops cleaning their weapons and eating breakfast.

"Their good men, sir." commented the Colonel.

"Yes..." the General replied in a tone that sounded as foggy as the morning.

"Permission to speak sir? the Colonel asked

"Granted"

"I don't think we should be here at all, sir. With the planes a no go, our strategy was thrown off, and the fact of the matter is, we havn't really seen the enemy at all! I mean, their numbers could be overwhelming right now, we should just retreat and..."-distant boom-

"Quiet, son. Did you hear that?"

"Hear what, sir? Oh god!"

What the Colonel had seen was indeed god fearing, the tops of the hills that surrounded the base in the city were covered in men armed with AK 74s, AK47s, and RPGs. They seemed to be thousands from their positions, but the General knew...

"Its only about 2000 men, Colonel, get the men ready."

"To attack sir?"

"No, to defend, this is just the beginning, I want all the city walls fortified. This is just meant to spook us..."

"Yes sir!"

"Oh and Colonel,"

"Yes sir?"

Colonel Shard watched with satisfaction. 2,ooo of his 15o,ooo men, specially ordered to engage the Laskons marcheed towards the enemy. With him, the 148,ooo and artillery pieces slowly circleed the Laskon forces in a wide net, and then moved in. The artillery thumped, and the infantry moved in. The Laskon's were grossly outnumbered. The massacre could begin.

The walls were as fortified and packed with booby traps as they'll ever be, though Private James Themen as he walked back to his position, and hey, its not like 2000 enemy troops can possibly get past all our defenses anyway...


Back to the command post, the General and Colonel discuss tactics:
"I need everyone ready at a moments notice, I can tell more of those damn enemies are out there, waiting..." the General's voice was growing darker as he realized what a scrape they were in..."Did you get my gun, Colonel?"

"Yes sir, here it is, sir!"
The Colonel handed the General his personal customized M16, built in laser sight, grenade launcher with interchangable shotgun, armor piercing explosive tip bullets, and a personal hand grip to boot. Once these babies got mass produced for the whole army, a whole lot of hurtin would be layed down on the battle field...back to business.

"The walls are all good?"

"Yes sir."

"The cannons and tanks are in place?"

"Yes sir."

"And you've called for backup?"

"Yes sir, several times, they're on their way, but we can only hope..."

"Have you changed your pants yet, Colonel?"

"Uh...-the Colonel, shamefaced- Yessir..."

"Then lets go have ourselves a war."
The general's face was a mask of deadly scars, worn from years on the battlefield, he was ready for anything, but how could he tell his soldiers that they would be fighting with a 7 out of 75 chance of winning, and probably would die, overwhelmed by shear numbers? But he had to, and he could, and would, and they would cheer and lock and load, some pumped up, some crying in the ground, others stone faced and ready, just waiting for the enemy to make a move...


The outer defenses:
Private Themen took his position next to his buddy, Lt. Jack Moddler, and put a scope on his rifle so he could see the enemy positions better.
"You should get one of these, -the Lt. patted his XM29 fondly-, its got one built in."
"Yeah, yeah, we're not all Special OPs, buddy." The private retorted.

"Ah well, eh? You'll make it if you keep trying."

"You don't listen very well, do you? We can't win this fight, they out number us by to many, the general said..."

"Screw the General, he's a war mongering asshole who'll fight to the death to find that bastard who killed his family before he moved to Laskon, just keep your cool when the shooting starts, and stick with me."

"We...we're not gonna go AWOL, right?"

"Hell no, we're gonna kick some ass is what we're gonna do! -hands the private his flask- Here drink some a this, mate, you'll feel better."

"Thanks...-some kind of cheering in the distance- oh god...I guess this is it..."

The Command Center (CC for future reference):
"God speed to us all." the general said.

"And lets go kick some ass!" the overly enthusiastic Colonel said.

-the general stared at the Colonel with cold, unmoving eyes-

"Aye, lets go and do just that!

-the 14,000 Laskonian troops roared a fearsome battle cry and readied their weapons...let the fighting begin.-

Laskon, what city are you in? OR where is your camp? And how come your general has become so omniscient?

In Priston 2,ooo Shadow Council troops had spent the day reaching influential ex-businessmen, the kind who had been hit hard under the new communist regime. A loose coalition of these men agreed to put their contacts at the Shadow Council's disposal.
At 6 o'clock pm, a group of 6,ooo men surrounded the town centre, garrison, and police stations. Fierce fighting led to the destruction of government forces in Priston, who had not expected such audacity from the insurgents.
But the battle was not over. The proletariat of Priston remembered life before Lipvinity joinedd Communist Likon, and were loathe to return to those dark days.
A counter insurgency has begun. Liquid numbers of soldiers are fighting against the Shadow Council, and have begged for government support.


Elsewhere in Lipvinity, the Red Army marched on Dunehagen. the Shadow Army barricaded the streets, and waited, they knew the communists would not use artillery against their own people, and gun to gun the shadow army had grown over the past few days enough to match them.
Inside the city centre the remaining communists waited, sure that help would soon come.

OOC: Either put out a map of the hot spot in question, or define Priston, Lipvinity, Dunehagen, and any other geographic locations that could be important. Which of these are towns and which are sub-federal divisions?

OOC: You were the one who said my men were in South Lipivinty, I'm just going with it. My men are near the center.
And don't worry about the general, he does't know that your army is THAT overwhelming, all he knows is that the enemy wouldn't attack with just those 2000 troops, so he's expecting about the same amount as he has.
Hope that cleared everything up for us, except that yes, please describe the city in detail, as this will probably be the center of most conflicts, at least before the real fighting begins.

soz I've been neglecting, i've had to run around a fair bit lately in the lead up to christmas and have not had much of a chance to log on, anyway, as i cannot post maps on i'll describe the area of conflict the best that I can.
The landmass of lipvinity lies 30 miles from the coastline of the Likon mainland. Whilst the island itself looks different, the infastructure can be seen as a square as follows, withh D representing Dunehagen, currently parrtly held by the Shadow Council(SC), A represents Agres held by the SC, K represents Kresw which is still held by government forces, P represents the province capitol Priston, which is held by teh SC with a counter-insurgency taking place by the proletariat, and U represents Um'a, still under government control.

The Empire of the Deities grants its allegiance to that of the Shadow Army. We will immeadiately dispatch to Dunehagen 12,000 of our finest troops, the Boar-32 and the Wolfgang-12 Tank Batallions, 700 fighters and bombers, and our two finest generals with their Imperial Guard of an additional 5,000 men each.
We hope this will sufficiently bolster your army and increase your power by 10 fold. Furthermore, we have successfully halted the Red Army supply veins to their armies, increasing our chance of victory. Vengeful Zeus will not stand by and watch the Shadow Army be crushed!

The sky was filled. Aeroplanes filled the sky above Dunehagen. 5,000 Revolutionary guards, the elite soldiers of Communist Likon parachuted to teh heart of the city. Amongst them were snipers and sappers and artillery men. Together they would hold back the forces of the Shadow COuncil until the Red Army could break through their lines.

Overwhelmed at the site of a new enemy that stood in its full splendor and glory, the Revolutionary Army's spirit was broken and the Deity Army launched a full out assault on their forces.

Solemnly, President Cannu began his presidential speech to his nation.
"My fellow Physiocratians. Today, our diplomat to warzones was thoughtlessly killed by the forces of the evil Communist Likon, when all he did was step into a barrage of bullets.
We have no choice, we must send a force to join those brave freedom fighters known as the Shadow council, and to beat back the Communist scourge. For this i will need to conscript all the poor people of this great wealthy nation, whilst all you rich sons and daughters out there need not despair, you are far too beautiful and powerful to be risked in war.

The Empire of Grangkon has sent 43 crates of medical supplies to the Shadow Council, with a letter reading:

The situation in Priston was dire. House to house fighting was taking place between the Shadow Army and the Priston Proletariat. The Shadow Army had the technological advantage, with better weapons, but the Priston Proletariat had the number advantage. Too many of them remembered the brutal life under the former order the Shadow Council wished to restore, or at least replicate.
The house to house fighting was bloody. Civilians hiding in basements and cellars and rooms were being shot and raped by the Shadow Army in the workers sections of the city.
The signs of the old order had not yet gone, not even after 3 years of peace. The city still had its slums, worker quarter of apartments, its suburbs, and its exclusive buildings in the middle of the city, used for hospitals and orphanages it was now used as the Shadow Armies HQ.
The fight continued, but it seemed obvious to all that without help the city would soon be controlled by the Shadow Council.

In a stunning development in the history of Communist Likon, and the current insurrection Conductor Ninel has won official approval from the Senate and the Assembly of the People to have dictatorial powers over Communist Likon, a situation not seen since the reign of General Nilats, ended by General Theodore, ended 7 years ago after Nilats' abortive invasion of Communist Idealism, a state since joining with Communist Likon.
The Conductor has approved the mobilisation of a further 500,000 men to fight the Shadow Council, and is for the first time readying the CLAirForce(CLAF), although its use for military purposes as opposed to aid and relief has not yet been confirmed.
A further 1,000 Revolutionary Guards, the elite forces in Communist Likon, have been dropped into the beseiged Priston with 17,000AKSU-74 5.45-mm Submachine Guns for the Proletariat fighting there as well as mortars to beused if necessary.
Unconfirmed rumours suggest that up to 500 Agents of the State Security service, the People's Revolutionary Protection Agency (PRPA) are scouring the land for the leaders of the Shadow council, and have been given the authority to use any method necessary to find them.
In further news, the Red Army has begun its first engagement in the insurgency in Dunehagen. In a clash with the Shadow Army it is estimated that 1,ooo SA soldiers were killed or injured with no prisoners taken, whilst the Red Army casualties are around 750. Colonel Crass who is leading the force of 3oo,ooo infantry and 4,ooo tanks stated he was suprised at the number of Shadow Army members he found in the city, estimating the number at barely 4o,ooo where at least 2oo,ooo were expected. Yet he is confident more will be found in houses and sewers as he progresses further into the city.

A scout overlooking the hills where the 2000 enemy Shadow Army troops had been gasped in horror at the 150,000 soldiers he saw prepared to attack. He was on the radio to the command center when his eyes misted over when a knife appeared in his back...


CC:
"Sir, we have reports of enemy attacks coming from all fronts at once!"


"What???" roared General Kaye "They can't have that many troops...can they?"

"Sir we're losing ground, our men need to fall back!"

"Tell them to fall back...and god help them."

"Yes sir!"


The front lines of the battle:
It was a scene from hell, hudreds lay wounded from the first surprise round of artillery shells fired into the city by the Shadow Army, the soldiers remaining began to retreat while getting orders to return fire. The first 2000 enemy troops in range of the guns were obliterated, but as at least 20,000 more rushed down that hill alone, all seemed lost as the shells and grenades seemed to do less and less.

XM29s and M-16 muzzle flashes were every where as the marines and 14,000 Laskon troops fought for their lives against the teaming mass that was the Shadow army. Grenades went off this way and that as peoples bodies were torn apart.
The Laskon troops beat a heavy retreat, quickly using up their ammo in the stationary weapons so the enemy couldn't use them, tanks were left booby trapped in the middle of streets, blocking roads.

With hundreds of Soldiers dying each minute, General Kaye didn't have a lot of options.

"Colonel order all men to retreat to the command bunker where we set up the defenses. Tell them to bring as many weapons and as much ammunition as they can carry."

"Yes sir...shall we go to sir?"

"Later, I want this whole place packed up with enough C-4 to blow up two city blocks, they'll get a surprise alright.."

"Yes sir! You heard him, get this place ready to blow!"

The front lines:
All but devoid of Laskon troops, the shadow army mostly relaxed from their first victory before pressing on, they had suffered heavy losses (OOC: you decide Likon) but so had Laskon.

Right then a Shadow soldier noticed a small beeping noise right behind him, he stared quizzicly at it until he screamed in terror and told everyone to run, realizing its purpose.

Of course it was to late, General Kaye had activated the wall defenses, causing the entire ring around the city to crumble, explode, implode, or just come crashing down on the heads of hundreds of the Shadow armies troops. It was a sight to inspire the Laskonians to keep fighting.


Laskon sustained about 1400 dead after this first wave

The 8,ooo members of the Shadow Council who were killed in the initial fighting, as well as the 17,ooo wounded, were joined by another 6,000 dead after the explosion in the city. No one knows the death count of civilians still hiding in the area, but estimates place it at 15,ooo at least in the compacted city.
The Shadow Army saw Laskon in its defencive position, and ringed it. Half their number mysteriously disappeared, but the other remained, and the artillery began to fire. Laskon would not get out of this easily.

"What is it?" Ninel asked, awaking from the hours sleep he had managed to steal in his office.
"The Laskon and Shadow Army confrrontation sir, it looks like the Laskonians are being pretty badly beaten back."
"Peel of 1oo,ooo men from the army headed to Priston to give them a hand, maybe they can clear a corridor for the Laskons to get through.""
"Yes sir, but there's more sir"

Yes sir, the Laskons blew up sections of the city to secure their retreat, at least 2o,ooo civilians died!"
Sighing Ninel weighed up the situation. "That section of the city was evacuated, no civilians died."
"But sir"
"You heard me. And get me some god-damn coffee."
"Yes, sir"

In a basement in Um'a, the only city as yet affected by the insurgency a man named Simon Alex was tied to a chair in the middle of a dark room. The two PRPA, David Lilac and Peter Short sat by him, whilst a man specially hired from the local crime circles was at work on the screaming Alex. A row of bloody sharp instruments layed out on the floor around him.
"A name, and a location, and it's over" Lilac told the man, as he had done for the last 4 hours.
"FINE!" Alex screamed.
Leaning close to him, Lilac heard the man whisper a name. "A place!" Lilac screamed, nearing hysterics. Alex shook his head, the former divisional commander of the Shadow Army in the failed uprising in Um'a knew nothing more. Lilac took out a pistol and put him out of his misery.
"Get me Danube" He told Short. "They'll want to hear this."

General Noah Kaye was not pleased.

"But sir, they haven't continued the attack, and with the defenses we built, their artillery really can't do anything..." the Colonel complained

"Shut up soldier, that damn Conducter is sending troops here, but we sure as hell can't just sit down and watch our asses getting shot at."

The few tanks not left in the outer areas of the city were busy trying to shoot at the artillery, but usually to no avail. The borrowed artillery pieces were only helping to destroy buildings...


As special forces and snipers found positions around the command area to attack the enemy, several hundred soldiers were still fighting for their lives, retreating back to the bunker.

The 20 Legions of 5,ooo men each marched behind the Shadow Army's forces that surrounded Laskon. Down the main highway into the city they marched, not knowing exactly where the enemy was, just following the sound of gunfire.
Meanwhile, underneath the Laskon forces 5o,ooo able bodied SA men marched single file through the sewers. The sewer systems inherited from the Empire of Lipvinity were one of the best in the world, with access to many different levels. Underneath the Laskon forces the SA moved into place and waited.
In Dunehagen the Red Army advanced upon the centre of the city. Colonel Crass couldn't understand why the Shadow Armies forces seemed so few. A young corporal ran up to him and told him to look on the horizen, many miles away, but still too close for comfort stood large numbers of men. 5oo,ooo new recruits of the Shadow Army. Many miles away, in his secret bunker underground Nilats, head of the Shadow Council smiled and nodded to a man who pushed a button. Underneath Dunehagen a nuclear weapon began counting down. 60...59...58... Crass yeld at his men to set up defencive positions. 41...40...39...'Why the hell are those bastards just waiting out there? Why don't they attack?' Crass asked himself out loud. 23...22...21...Over 25o,ooo Communist troops in Dunehagen, and a civilian population of over 11 million remaining in the city prepared themselves for another attack from the Shadow Army. 9...8...7...Colonel Crass dropped his binoculars, suddenly he realised what the signal was. 6...5...4..."Get the hell out of here, everybody out of the city" he screamed, not knowing how long he would have left. 3...2...1. Many miles away, Nilats smiled. In Dunehagen, over 11million people discovered how to die

Conductor Ninel sat in the deserted Senate building. All day he had been authorising the mobilisation of an initial 75o,ooo troops to go to Lipvinity. Protestors had been seen all around Likon, marching for a North Lipvinity state. Troops and local authorities were getting edgy, with all the rumours and stories flying around about the insurrections, soon definitions between capitalist revolutionaries and peaceful protestors were going to fade in soldiers eyes.
The report from his top PRPA agent, Major Lilac was torn up next to him. The name 'NILATS' was embalzoend on it. Know he knew who he was up against Ninel was afraid. Nilats was capable of anything, always had been.
Just then one of his military advisors came running into the empty room.
"Conductor, news from Dunehagen."
"Not good?"
"No sir"
with a resigned sigh Ninel prepared himself for whatever was ahead. "Better tell me straight."

After hearing the news Ninel was blank.
"Arm the bombers" he said in a cold, flat tone. "No more prisoners"

The Physiocrat troops landed on Likon. They landed a few miles up the coast frrom Priston and began their march there. They would beat back the communist scum.

"Sir we just recieved word from the Conductor that authorization of bombers has been permitted."

"Well tell them to lock and load and get their asses over here NOW!"


"Yes sir."


General Kaye stooped back down to his firing position, hitting any shadow soldier foolish enough to venture this far through the face. There was a force of 7500 of the Laskonians slowing the SA's offence by using guerilla tactics. They may be screwed, but they sure as hell weren't gonna go down easy.


After 5 more hours of fighting, General Kaye ordered the retreat of all his men to the bunker.

"Arm the claymores, those bastards are about to get a taste of dealing with the Laskon army."

"Right away, sir."

He suddenly heard the rapid firing of a M29 and explosions and screams as the grenades hit their mark.

"What the hell, they shouldn't be this close..."

"SIR! They've gotten through the defenses somehow..."

"God dammit...order all men to search and destroy while finding cover, I'll have more orders soon....damn."

"Yes...sir..." the colonel's voice was shaky.

Message from Conductor Ninel to the people of Communist Likon, and in particular to those inhabitants of the province of Lipvinity.

Comrades. The dark past of conflict between Likon and Lipvinity has been brutal and bloody, since Prince Vladimier Ukanov set up an independent nation in Lipvinity 300 years ago. Yesterday, this conflict came to a new head.
The Shadow Council, a group of authoritarian imperialistic capitalists have freely used the murder and rape of civilians to aid them in their conflict. Yesterday at 5:15 local time, the Shadow Council detonated a nuclear weapon, believed to have been a surplus from the days of Lipvin Empire.
Over 11million civilians in the city were killed instantly, as well as over 250,000 members of the Red Army.
This has brought upon a new stage in the conflict. More than ever it has been proven that in this fight their are no rules, and if we wish to survive as a nation and a people we must do things we do not wish to, to win this war.
Thereby, I am announcing the SHADOW WAR ACT, an emergency legislation, which for the period of this war allows Aerial bombing, artillery shelling, and the use of tanks in the fight against the Shadow Army. We realise as most of the Shadow Army's placements are in populated centres that this will lead to civilian deaths. For this I am sorry, but it is necessary.
No protests will be allowed of any sort for the duration of this war, and the PRPA has orders to prevent said deemonstrations by any means necessary. The use of torture in interrogation will also be legalised, and the mandatory working day for those in the production of shells, tanks, bullets, planes, guns, and other war material is 6 days a week and 12 hours a day.
This is a tough situation, we must join as a people to beat back this therat to our land.

Mortat split the SA lines, as 1oo,ooo members of the Red Army came up behind them. Rushing to face both directions the SA tried to put up a defence. Within an hour they had lost 10,ooo men, whilst the Red Army sufferd only 70 casualties.
Settling back the Red Army waited, as overhead a screech came. 10 SU-30MK Fighter-Bombers flew overhead, blasting the SA lines. The decimation continued for 45 minutes, before the Red Army resumed its mortar blasting, and then moved in for the kill.

Elsewhere in the city, 50,ooo SA memebrs in the sewers under the Laskon positions readied themselves with pistols and longknives along with their rifles. As one they ran into the Laskon positions suprising them and beginning the short range fighting. In the brutal fighting within the first hour already 500 SA men were dead.

5oo,ooo SA troops travelled from what was Dunehagen to Kresw, in central Lipvinity in freight trains. Within the city 1,5oo SA members waited until the trains came near, then they struck.
Divisions of 30 men were all around the city, some struck the town centre, police stations, areas of communications, and the train stations, allowing the 5oo,ooo men to take position all oevr the city.
Within 3 hours, government officials, police, and the militia of 5o,ooo in the city were all either dead, or being tortured. Kresw was firmly under the SA boot.
Defences began being built. Barrciades all around the city, and within. The industry was taken over, and forced to work day and night. Kresw was the main industrial centre of Lipvinity, and its people were put to work.

The CIGP troops waited in the transport ships, slinking into the Priston harbour. The upgrade of 75,000 troops, and 1,000 N-Tiger-71 tanks had been sent to bolster the efforts of the Shadow Council.
The armada landed at the docks and an advanced unit of 1,000 men cleared the area around of any communists, and the landing began. The Priest-General Pius ordered 50 of his men to establish contact with the Shadow Council in the city.
It was time for revenge.

The explosion rocked the city. The SU-30MK Fighter-Bombers flew over the half of Priston controlled by the Shadow Army. Over 50 of them dropped their loads all over their specific targets, mostly in the lines of buildings that were believed to be SA held, but invariably some Proletariat buildings were also hit.
The growing forces numbers in the city stood at thus, 35o,ooo SA were still fighting against 12o,ooo Proletariat, and 1,ooo Revolutionary Guards.
Losses had been havy all over the city, and none dared guess the civilian casualties. Captain Forsyth contacted the home base, on the coast of Likon proper "This is Red Zip over. Appears to be a large fleet of sidembarking troops. Don;t look like ours"
"No Red Troops comming from sea Red Zip, presume to be enemy and take out" came back the orders.
Obeying the command Forsyth and 12 other planes who retained some weapons flew over the CIGP transports and dock and began dropping their bombs.
Eslewhere a Commodore of the Fleet got his orders to move in on Priston, he commanded a Fleet of 12 cruisers, 7 Destroyers, 5 Battleships, 1 Aircraft carrier, and 8 submarines. He began to move in to Priston, he would be there in 6 hours.

The fighting grew heavy as the 10,000 Laskon troops left fought for their lives in close combat with the surprise attack, grenades, combat knives, M9s and Col .45s were used as the General stood in the middle of a hallway, firing round after round into enemy troops coming out of pot holes in every direction, Though the remainder of the SA army was soundly defeated, the Red Army had to make its way all through the city to get to where the Laskonian troops were fighting.

The Empire of Tsarkoye-Selo, whilst a small nation wishes to see the success of the Shadow Council, and will donate 700 crates of Highpowered assault rifles (12 a crate) and 500 crates of said ammunition to the Shadow Council in the hope that they can beat back the communist scourge.

The 89,ooo Red Army troops left fought past the decimated SA forces, bodies lay everywhere, and parts of bodies. In front of the troops was a man in a black trenchcoat carrying a pistol and leading the Red Army through sections of the city he only knew.
Half the men crashed through and helped the Laskons, whilst the other were gone 30 minutes, before leaping from the sewers joinng the fray./ As the conclusion became foregone the man in the trenchoat yelled to his men,
"Take as many alive as you can, I am Major Lilac from the PRPA, we'll need interrogations!" A further 50 men were killed, and 239 injured, but the casualties of this part of the fight were light.
As prisoners were taken, and bodies dragged into piles Lilac walked towards the Laskon lines.
"How is everyone down here?"

General Noah Kaye stood over the bodies of 5000 of his men.

He was in a grim mood, even though the battle had been won, and they were sure to get information out of the prisoners, but with Laskon now involved with a world war, they may not get supplies for a long time.

The Red Army major approached him.

"I thank you on behalf of my men for getting our asses out of that situation."

before waiting for an answer, he continued.

"I ordered our bombers to be ready for payloads as soon as we got the message that your conductor sent out, I trust the Shadow Council's island base is a good zone to begin on?"

The President of Laskon has personally stated that this day will be an honorable one in Laskon's history, the day our 15,000 brave soldiers defended against in army of 150,000, and of course to honor the Red Army for their act of bravery to save Laskon's forces.

Major Lilac studied the General, and with a personal habit hard to shake wondereed if he was a screamer.
"Actually General we have not yet found the location of the Shadow Council's HQ, although certain sources have told us that it is in a major industrial centre, although for all we know that could be any in the nation, if not the wolrd."

"Surely your not worried about civilians by now? So many have been killed by this war, its almost not worth it to NOT bomb. I've heard the reports."

he stared out at the dead bodies being zipped up, seeing his men mourning their friends or preparing to move out.


"We truly need a miracle to win this war, Major. I have a personal vendetta at stake and I don't expect that to go easy. Me and my men will fight for this countries right to live how it wants, until all these revolutionaire bastards have the fear of god in them."

Lilac studied the General with cold eyes that had made many shudder under his gaze. "My family was in Dunehagen General, don't speak to me of Vendettas. I'm taking this unit of men to join the main force in an attack on Priston. We leave as soon as a civilian unit reaches our location to take away the dead. You comming?"

The newly named 1st Red Army, comprised of 4oo,ooo men, and 1,ooo T-77 light tanks, and 4oo T-89 Heavy Tanks began marched through the half of priston held by the Proletariat.
The methodical sweep had cost very few men, and SA losses were hard to estimate as they were driven back to the sea, and the CIGP troops. The Red fleet came upon Priston from behind, and began to pound it from the sea.
Escape seemed impossible for the Shadow Army, but just as it seemed like victory was assured, many thousands of them disappeared.

Lilac had disappeared during the night. He met up with 3,ooo PRPA men in Um'a, the only city as of yet not affected by the war in Lipvinity.
In the night they moved from house to house of those once wealthy and powerful, who would be eager to support the uprising. Many were taken away for interrogation and torture, 12,ooo more were simply shot

General Kaye's replenished forces marched 30,000 strong through the streets of Lipvinity.
